I got to bed later than usual (10:30) but Thatch stayed with me most of the night, and the aches and cramps stayed at a simmer, not the usual low boil.

DR Jrand74, was this your first watch of A Room with a View? It remains one of my all-time favorite movies. I think it may have been the first Merchant-Ivory film I ever saw.

I agree with BK: I like Manhattan, the first film I saw after moving to New York, much more than Annie Hall.

I have a quiet day planned, but we'll see what fresh hell rolls in unexpectedly. Until then, I'm taking it easy.

BK, thanks for the Michael Clayton tip. I never heard of it, but I looked it up on Amazon and it sounds like something I'd really like. I may watch it tonight.

I turned on TCM just as the documentary was ending (I still need to see that) and A Room With a View was about to begin. I think I lasted about ten minutes before I was out cold.

I might be a lone dissenter here. I like Manhattan a lot, but for me, Annie Hall is the greater of those two. This will probably sound contradictory, but while Manhattan's black-and-white scope presentation and its use of the Gershwin music are pretty stunning, there's something a little too "mannered" about it that keeps me at arm's length. Whereas Annie Hall is fresh, earthy, real. More engaging. Now, how's that for a bullshit review?  :D

Tonight (hey, that would make a good title of something, wouldn't it?) I'm going up to SUNY New Paltz to see a production of Shrek that my good friend the great keyboardist is playing in and helped teach. It's a lengthy drive, but the weather is finally beautiful (as I hope the orchestra will be), and it'll be a nice evening out. And I do have the entire weekend free to keep ketchuping on things and doing some prep work on next week's musical chores.

Regarding the Notes on searching for songs called "It Is What it Is" -

There's a more traditional sounding late 1990s pop hit that's called

"That's The Way It Is" - Céline Dion

In addition to penning his upcoming new hit "It Is What It Is", BK should write a followup/companion song, "What the HELL Am I Talking About?"

I should think that these would get plenty of air time. Don't you?

They should do a remake of West Side Story, but place it in 1400s Italy. And have it be two warring families instead of gangs.
