AN OUT-OF-CONTROL WOMBAT
« on: April 19, 2025, 01:09:36 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like an out-of-control wombat, and now it is time for you to post until the out-of-control cows come home.

I slept well, although there were several rounds of discomfort, thanks to that damned pinched nerve and my left hand. All three cats made appearances, but I do believe that my bed is now officially Thatch's as well.

It's too bad this cast of Drat! The Cat! on't get a recording. I would love to hear them. I'm happy last night's performance went well.

My family's first pet was a beautiful, golden  collie-German shepherd mix we named Sandy when I was around seven years old. I don't think I'm too nostalgic, but thinking of that wonderful dog still brings tears to my eyes. He very quickly became not just "our" pet but the pet of every kid with whom we played in the neighborhood. He was loving and very protective. One of the neighbor mothers told mine that she felt her son was safe from anything with Sandy around. AOne day, aer several years - I can't tell you how many now - out of the blue, he attacked the postman he saw almost every day since he joined our family. The postmas was not seriously hurt, mostly frightened, but the next day Sandy was euthanized.

I have to leave now and have a good cry.

Low Spots in the Lawn should be the title of something-or-other.

Our first pet was Rocky, a shetland sheep dog-collie mix. He was sweet and he was with us for 13 years.

We had a Dalmatian named Popcorn. I was so little I could only call him “Kah-corn.” Not sure why they decided to re-home him at some point. I think we were moving and my mom was preggers with #6. I just recall sitting in the driveway crying while my dad and brother drove away with Kah-corn.

I’ll have to ask my mom what happened. I’ll be lucky to get a straight answer as most family history through her eyes is hilariously revised to blame my dad.

Dad was partially to blame for #6. And the others.

I had a nice surprise this morning: my first ASCAP royalty check in maybe 5-6 years. I thought they had forgotten about me.
