According to a tweet from the Vatican News:

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.

Last night I binged on all four episodes of The Marlow Murder Club, one of the happiest three hours I ever spent in the past couple of years. To begin, I love Samantha Bond, whom the BBC for years stuck in libidinous or what I'd call "woman of the world" roles. In Mansfield Park she played the sister wh leaves her husband to run off with the villain Henry Crawford, on Midsomer Murders she was a nasty lady colluding with her boyfriend to kill her husband, in Lark Rise to Candleford she was a romantic threat, and she's always wonderful. Now in her early 60s, she's still beautiful, still a lady with a past, but smart, sassy, energetic, and  you want a heroine to be. Her two cohorts match her in every way, and the three women, along with the actress playing the investigating detective keep the plot boiling and still charming and often funny. It was grerat to see Rita Tushingham, whom I don't think I've seen since the 1960s, as a gossipy neighbor. I really enjoyed it.

The series ended at 9:00, and as I was about to turn off the TV, I ran across our PBS station, and Episode 4 or 5 of Wolf Hall was beginning, so I watched that, putting me an hour or more past my usual bedtime. The episode was about the marriage of Henry VIII to Anne of Cleves and the beginning of Thomas Cromwell's end. It was quite enjoyable, but I'm dragging about this morning wondering why the fat hell I didn't go to bed at 9:00.

I've missed DR Jeanne, and it was nice to see her back, even if only for a moment.

The only robot movie I can think of at the moment is Forbidden Planet.

And the start of a new week of show rehearsals and concert rehearsals and a concert.

Have I ever mentioned that I occasionally have rehearsals?

The only AI/robot movie I’ve seen that comes to mind is Ex Machina, which I loved and should watch again to see what I think of it now. But I don’t gravitate toward AI-oriented stuff.

It’s possible there’s another one or two I’m not thinking of.

Does Blade Runner count?

I was sorry to hear about Pope Francis' death. I think he was the first pope I've ever cared for.

George, great childhood Easter basket story. I hope you were laughing back then.

I don't remember my reaction in the moment, but I don't think it took long to laugh at it...and I still remember it because I STILL look in any oven before I turn it on! ;D

Terrific story in last night's posts, George, especially since you were able to find the humor in it.
