Forty years ago today, Sunday in the Park with George won the Pulitzer Prize.

My, how the time flies.

Wow, it really does, doesn't it?

For those who found the TV show HEE HAW either a guilty pleasure or maybe even just a comedy pleasure - sad news.

"Lulu Roman, Popular ‘Hee Haw’ Comedian and Gospel Singer, Dies at 78"

Oh, no. :(

Side note re HEE HAW and SHUCKED:

"Lulu" in the Broadway musical SHUCKED was played by Alex Newell, who won the Tony for that role.

And Alex won for best actor in a musical.

I'd seen an interview with the creators of the show where they specified that the character of Lulu is cis-gender female.  They just thought that Alex was the best person to play the role.

I had a wonderful work session with my orchestration student.

That's great, Larry!

We saw Jerry Lewis perform in Vegas and he was hysterical.  I also liked him on talk shows.
I agree about Groucho and Benny.

To me the classic era is the one that includes

- Robin Williams
- Richard Pryor
- George Carlin

I don’t know the current generation of stand-up comics at all.

Watching a very bad motion picture, but I'll endure it to the end, as it's about a subject and era I know very well.

Horribly directed by one of its stars - that's part of it.

Shot in Canada rather than where it takes place - so, no real sense of time and place.

Billy Crystal in his early stand-up days was pretty funny.

Thanks! I did my homework by listening to the concept album yesterday. So I’ll be ready for any adaptation questions. 😀

WSJ had a column today about the Criterion release of Jean de Florette/Manon of the Springs. It didn’t really talk about anything Criterion did to the films, and nothing about extras, but the writer made me want to watch them again.
