Very hard to choose.  I like them all.  I certainly have no problem sitting though any of them again and again.

DR HISAKA - sorry I wasn't around to answer your question.

DR DANISE is correct.

Because the peplum on some women's clothing was similar to the clothing worn around the waist of the musclemen in gladiator movies, they are called Peplum films.  I first learned this term from DR MBARNUM.

Good morning, all!  First of all, DRDanise, I hope this is the end of tropical storms in your neck of the woods.  I hope things go as well for DRMichaelShayne.

DRTCB, congratiulations!  MTV's gain will be Tacoma's loss.

DRHisaka, the peplum is that short little skirt the gladiators and muscle boys wear in all those Roman/Greek movies.

DRSWoodyWhite, I always liked the fact that shepherds in Judea spoke so literately.  It makes up for all the current illiteracy around me.

Another positive review for REWIND!  I haven't seen any mysterious negative postings anywhere yet from Cora (was that the ass' name?).

Today, after too long a delay, I'm having my eyes tested for new glasses.  Thiis is a very good thing because I was ready to play Helen in a new production of THE MIRACLE WORKER with the world's oldest cast of actors.

Are there any photos of DRMBarnum wearing his peplum before he stole that drag from Myrna Loy?

Haven't seen any - but some casting director has missed a good chance there.

We're at 59 degrees F and I just heard that is going to be our high for the day.  It's all downhill from here.  Isn't that something?  A tropical system, followed by a cold front.  Wild weather folks.

Not yet. I saw it on the site yesterday, but got sidetracked reading other things and made a mental note to go back today and read it. And now your reminder will definitely make me read it, probably later this morning.

Speaking of dolls, I came across something that made me laugh this weekend.  It seems that the Madam Alexander doll company is making a break away from their stodgy dolls-of-the-world and fairy tale lines with something new:

Madam Alexander

I can't wait till they release a Madeline/Judy doll.

BK, I started Rewind last night--very enjoyable so far.  I still remember discussing "limo services" with you over lunch at Jerry's.  ;)

TOD:  Anything with a Rosza score, which covers just about everything from the 50s, LOL.  I even have a soft spot for "Sodom and Gomorrah" (TCB, TCB, where are you?).

And speaking of TCB, congrats!!!

Speaking of men's underwear, last night I watched Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man.  I couldn't help but notice that when the Invisible Man first went invisible and removed his clothing, he was going commando.  I wonder if this scene had the same effect on the underwear industry as Clark Gable going without an undershirt in It Happened One Night.

Cultural zeitgeist moment of the day department:  We have officially stopped watching Desperate Housewives.  Just tuning in to it during the commercials on L&O:CI we were able to keep completely abreast of the (non)-happenings.

I've just heard from DRMichaelShayne, who wanted me to report that he is okay.  The bathroom window in the guest room blew in so there was a bit of damage.  The power is out, but he has food and supplies, although he forgot to check about bulbs for his Coleman lantern:  good battery, no bulbs.  The eye of the storm just passed over him, so he estimates another three hours or so of tsuris.  He says there are a lot of trees blown down.  Let's send some good vibes his direction![move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]

elmore thanks for the update on Michael.  I was about to check the news in his part of the world.

While Michael lives on the Southeast coast my nephew is on the Southwest which also seems to be  without power.

Danise I'm pleased to see you can post.

Good power vibes to you & Michael!

Sorry about that, folks.  Just when I thought it was over, the power went out for a few minutes.  I don't know what happened.  I think I heard a transformer blow--there was a loud pop/bang noise but a just a few minutes later, the power came back up.  Weird.

I'm so glad to hear that DR Michael S is ok.  I was starting to get worried.

Vibes to him!
