Made a raisin pie, but the raisins looked old. So, I tossed them and used dried cherries, goji berries and golden raisins. The upper crust burned slightly, but it looks good.

TOD: Yes. I'm a barbecue pantheist. But if forced to choose, it would be Texas-style beef brisket. My favorite was at Kreuz Market in Lockhart, Texas. What a revelation to a northerner. That was a long time ago so I don't know if it's still good.

Oh yes, sauce. Preferably the meat needs no sauce, just a dry rub. But for saucy styles, anything that balances heat and sweet without either one dominating tends to work well for me. I like Carolina, but the vinegary or mustardy sauces are my least favorite of major American barbecue styles.

Muse Margaret has weighed in on the covers - she liked three of the twenty but after much thought she narrowed it down to one and it was exactly the one I'd already narrowed it down to. We'll do a couple of things to it - put a bit of red into one part of it, and we don't care for the font for that one, which is cursive and a little hard to read. She chose another font from the ones we had and I'll have to see what that looks like, because in the one that HAS that font, it's straight across. That can't happen in the image we like - it has to be stacked. If that doesn't look good, then I'll have Doug come up with a few alternatives, maybe a couple of which we haven't seen.

It’s been 15 years for me. Wow. But Kreuz was really good then.

This pie is also known as funeral pie, because you can make it quickly with ingredients you are likely to have on hand: raisins, water, brown sugar, vinegar, butter, salt and cinnamon, plus your dough ingredients.
