TOD:
I didn't watch anything last night as it was pinochole night.
However, Wednesday night, I watched two dvds, one of which is still in the player.
I partook of JUNGLE HOLOCAUST, which reminded me of THE NAKED PREY.
Then I watched Greg Araki's MYSTERIOUS SKIN, which I feel is one of 2005's best films.
I listened to the commentary track yesterday, and now it is time to find my own copy of the film, after I return this one to Netflix.

CD Player:
JOE NICHOLS III
DOLLY PARTON - Those Were the Days.

Good morning!

Beautiful day, cloudless sky, moderate tempoeratures: you know the drill!

Seriously, the weather forecasters have been emphasizing that despite this glorious weather, we're in the midst of a fairly serious drought. Water conservation measures will be taken if we don't get some rain soon.

I have a request for good vibes from all you DRs. . .
On Monday afternoon, I have a very important job interview with a company I would really like to work with, so, I ask (humbly) if you all could start sending those "great new job vibes" my way, and keep them coming through Monday afternoon, or arvo, as the case may be.

Glad you found an LP of THREE WISHES FOR JAMIE, DR Rodzinski. The CD was available on Broadway Angel for awhile, but I suspect it's out of print now.

Of course, strong good wishes for success in your Monday interview, DR td. I'll put that on the calendar and mention it again on Monday morning.

I'm up, I'm up.  WHY am I up, that's the question.

I'll tell you why I'm up - because I have to finish writing parody lyrics to Everybody Ought To Have A Maid and I've been very lax about it - so yesterday I buckled down Winsocki and started it, and I had words, words, and more words swimming in my head and I woke up at six-thirty and couldn't stop writing words, words, and more words.  I'm now half-way through it.

A little daytime posting!

I'm no big fan of Ms. Lupone (sorry George). But I thought her performance was excellent. She had one little "oh look at me I'm playing the tuba" moment I could have done without but was otherwise a model of restraint.

Tomorrow is the annual WFMU record fair, so I'm excited about that. There's nothing  I'm really in search of this year, so I'll just go browse and see what I find.

Probably buy Roxy Music's second album if I see it for cheap.

I noticed that USA TODAY (whose theater critic I don't really like much) gave SWEENEY a very positive review.

Isn't Per Snickety that new NYC restaurant that got three stars from Michelin?

Last night, returning home from work, we found that Fletcher the klutzy yet curious Dalmatian had knocked the laptop onto the floor.  The good news is not just that the laptop still works, but that in getting knocked on the floor the CDRom drive finally unjammed.  Stephen Schwartz's Uncharted Territory has been stuck in there for practically forever.

So now SS's UT is in the CD player, where it belongs.

As for the DVD player, der Brucer has a stack of current shows that he's been recording because they run opposite other shows he likes to watch.  Just how many crime proceedurals are there, anyhow?  And how can he tell them apart?  They all seem too much alike for my taste.

And, finally, to dear DR TCB:

I stopped paying attention to how many posts I had shortly after passing your number of posts.  As that happened, I believe, when you were unable to post, I came to understand that the numbers game wasn't relevant.  Having you back was far more important, and I'm glad that you are.

Spoo, running late, must be off to work again!  (Maybe to tell tales of ravioli, maybe not.)

For those who watch LOST, does anyone have any idea about which castaway will be "lost forever".  They have sort of been implying that this will happen (next week?).  I'm curious to see if it will be somebody major, somebody new, or just somebody we don't really care about.  I can't imagine that it would be Matthew Fox or Evangeline Lily.  Or the guys who play Sawyer, or Sayed (sp?).

DR MAttH:  I had the pleasure of meeting Frank Capra, too.  He visited the Defense Information School in the early 1980s when I was a journalism instructor there.

He was a very unhappy camper at the time as someone had picked his pocket at the Indianapolis airport.

His needs were attended to, his comfort was assured, but he bowed out of attending a dinner in his honor that evening, preferring to rest in his hotel after the stresses of the day.  I don't know how old he was, but I'm sure he was tired and stressed.

I also met Dana Andrews under similar circumstances, but he was in to address the school staff and students, and then out again.  Only had a chance to shake his hand and tell him how much I admired his work.

He was much shorter than I would ever have thought he'd be.

I hate to be persnickety, but.....no, wait!  Actually I don't hate it at all.

I love being persnickety.

It's perfunctory I hate...when it's being directed at me.  I don't mind being perfunctory, but I don't admire it in others.

Persnicketiness, though, I relate to and can accommodate each per and snick as needed.

Oh, joy!  It's Friday.  A three-day weekend is looming ahead of me.

I'm certain it will whoosh by.  So...I'll just enjoy the notion that it will be leisurely and relaxing even if it whooshes and I don't relax a bit.

DR Jennifer, as I understand it, the LOST casulty will be someone major. I have no idea who it will be, but I'm thinking Walt. I have also read that it may be Shannon, but again, that's just wild speculation.
