LONG NIGHT'S JOURNEY INTO DAY
« on: December 15, 2005, 12:05:52 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nauseating, the notes were dry heaving, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're just down the street eating some Mexican food.

I consider myself very fortunate to never have had any kind of food poisoning.  I think either my sister or my mom did, but I haven't...at least, not yet. :P

Not sure what the best course of action here is.  I don't know if I should lie down and try to sleep or if I should watch a movie or just keep my head over the toilet all night.

Can you bring a TV into your bathroom and watch it with your head near the toilet, just in case?

I'm off to sleep now.  I didn't get much sleep last night at all.

And good luck, BK.  Hopefully you'll feel better soon and you won't have to cancel your rehearsal.

Good morning, all!  I had a wonderful time at the Chorus concert.  Carnegie Hall looked beautiful, the concert was quite nostalgic and wonderful, with lots of good soloists, the audience was having a great time, and the party after was a lot of fun.  I got to bed around 1:15 and I'm dragging a very tired butt around this morning think I may need No-Doz as well as several cups of coffee.

Elaine Stritch was absolutely amazing, and she sang the hell out of "I'm Still Here."  The audience adored her.  She sang the Adler-Ross "Heart" with the Chous, standing in the middle of the 203 members, and then she finished her set with the Chorus doing "We Need a Little Christmas," which brought down the house when she sang "I've grown a little leaner" and the Chorus sang back to her "Got a little older."  She's a handful, but a great sport. And I think she had a good time playing with the group and the audience.

Then the Chorus did my arrangement of "I Wanna Be a Rockette," and 20 former Rockettes danced out. The number was staged by Ann Cooley, a lovely choreographer who's currently a Rockette in the Christmas Spectacular, and the house went crazy,

The party afterwards was too crowded, but I saw lots of friends, a few former Chorus members including a friend of mine and td, John de Palma, and I got to meet a few of the new Chorus members, most of whom are young enough to be grandchildren.

DRBen, safe travel over the holidays.

I was so wrapped up in the Chorus concert, I forgot the TOD.  I think I wrote about food poisoning and throwing up on Broadway and 80th Street on a Sunday morning around 10 am as one of my more embarassing experiences, so I won't mention it again.

Snowy Thursday greetings!  I got 1 mile into my 25-mile commute and, approaching a major hill, saw cars and pick-up trucks crossways in the road.  Turned around, barely made it back up our driveway, and called work to say I would not be in today.  So, here I am with a pre-Christmas putzing day, which I really need.

TOD - The last day of our honeymoon, I ate sausage gravy for breakfast and came home via the Middletown Hospital emergency room.  Haven't eaten sausage gravy since.

PELICAN
(Lyrics: Marty Garner)

I matched the jackpot 6, and gave every dime away.
All I need is my aquarium.
I'd really like to live in there.
If they'd let me color outside the lines,
I think I could do it.
All it takes is some concentration.

The fish are bored so I go outdoors.
Thumb tacks lie in the grass.
So my thumbs attack all that is left
Of this mess.
Jesus the cat is chasing butterflies.
I look inside.

Now I'm flying on a pelican.
Am I him, or is he me?
This pelican, over the sea.
The waves move by in the breeze
And I'm flying on a pelican.

"Garlic toast or dinner roll?"
The words she said have never left my head.
Some say she's just a waitress.
But I could see the look in her eye.
I'll need a few more minutes, please.
I must cherish this time.

I'll fold up this paper coaster,
And take it home, where I'll sit alone.
I'll place it by my tank.
She touched it, you know.
Now all of the colors begin to swim.
The fish are happy again.

Now I'm flying on a pelican.
Am I him, or is he me?
This pelican, over the sea.
Diving for fish. I got my wish.
With a pelican.

Solo.

Every day is much the same.
Now that the waitress moved away, who's to say
If my fish will swim this way.
They just don't seem the same.
And I haven't seen Jesus around.
I thought he was my friend.

I need the pelican.

Garlic toast or dinner roll?

DR ELMORE sounds like the concert was a great success and a good time was had by ALL!!!  Maybe there will be pics somewhere on the NET.

There was a plan to sell Pelican meat - to be called Pel- I' -Can.  That didn't work....but it's a start.
