DR Jason - Glad to know your "bonus" actually felt like a "bonus" rather than a "small tip".  -I hate when that happens.

And unfortunately I got new antibiotics today.

I tried so hard not to have to take them again.  But my throat was hurting last friday. I tried everything (sudafed, advil cold and sinus, cough meds, claritin sinus). But nothing made it go away.

The doc did not know what to do.  She really did not want to give me antibiotics unless it was necessary.

DR Jason - 20 minutes in a dark alley?  Usually, it's just 10.  Must be a Holiday Special?!?!?

DR Jennifer - Are you having upset stomach problems too?  If so, your sort throat may also be the result of some acid reflux- due to the antibiotics.  -That's what happened to me last Spring - YUCK!  See if you can buy something OTC or get a sample of Prevacid or similar medication from your doc.  I noticed a marked improvement once I started taking it.

-Of course, check with your doctor first.

...Or as Roger Rees told me this past summer...

"I extend a warm hand on your Opening."

-Must be the English variant.

Consider those Travel Vibes as Early Ones.

And thanks to everyone for their Broken Leg Vibes for tonight.

...Alas, the freezing rain and icing phase of today's wintry mix has just started.  -But I'm still pretty sure Arena will not cancel tonight's show.  They never cancel.  -Well, they have cancelled twice in my experience - but the snow both times was over six inches.

I'm up, I'm up.  Whatever vibes and xylophones you all sent really helped - right after my last post last night, I went to bed - I didn't think I'd last lying down for two minutes, but it seemed to calm my stomach and I was asleep in three minutes and, besides one normal bathroom visit, I was asleep for over nine hours.  I feel somewhat okay now, not that I'll feel like eating anything all day, and hopefully it will get better from here.  I surely thought this was going to be a corker - I NEVER throw up - HATE it.  But, around eleven-thirty, when I was writing the notes, I had to bolt for the bathroom, where I dry heaved for about fifteen minutes.  But, that was it - that was as bad as it got, so thank goodness for that, and hopefully it won't recur today.

BK - Watch the Diet Coke consumption today.  If your stomach is still a bit sensitive, Diet Coke may not be the best thing for it. -And just think how good the Diet Coke will taste once your back to normal.

DR Jose, I'm not even sure what acid reflux is.  The only stomach problems i've had were diahhrea (sorry to be so blunt :))  But that was only when i took the last antibiotic and that was one of the side effects.

My throat is pretty sore.  Not scratchy or slight by any means.  I don't know if meds can make it hurt that bad.

Broken leg vibes to DR Jose and everyone involved with DAMN YANKEES.

Jose - I think the alley reference may have to do with that famous Sondheim line about "picking bones and rotten studs out of alley ash cans" - is that right?

James Dean Museum to Close in December
Dec 13, 11:36 AM EST

The Associated Press

GAS CITY, Ind. -- A museum chronicling the short life of "Rebel Without a Cause" star James Dean will close Dec. 31.

Owner David Loehr moved the James Dean Gallery to Gas City from Fairmount, where Dean attended high school, less than two years ago.

Although attendance had increased, it wasn't enough to match the cost of maintaining the temperature-controlled building, Loehr said Monday.

"The operating expenses and upkeep and payments are just more than we can handle," he said. "I'm just getting further into debt and I just can't do it anymore."

Dean, who was born in Marion in 1931, was killed in a car crash in Cholame, Calif., in 1955 at age 24. His movies also included "East of Eden" and "Giant."

Loehr opened the museum and gift shop in 1988 in a house near downtown Fairmount. After an electrical fire in early 2004, Loehr moved the gallery to the new 7,200-square-foot building near Interstate 69.

The James Dean Gallery contains a dozen pieces of wardrobe worn by Dean in his three major films, school papers, paintings by Dean, and original movie posters, books and magazines.

In a message posted on the gallery's Web site, Loehr said: "James Dean has influenced so many actors, directors and musicians, we were hoping that someone would step forward with the necessary financial assistance to remain in operation."

Loehr said he will put his collection into storage and continue to operate a separate gift shop in Fairmount.

A June festival in Marion marking the 50th anniversary of Dean's death drew about 6,000 people instead of the 100,000 organizers had expected. The annual James Dean Fest in September went on as scheduled.

"The loss of any locally owned business is quite a hit for a community," said Karen Niverson, director of the Marion-Grant County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "But I think the loss of the James Dean Gallery as a locally owned business is a harder hit, because it's so integral to the very identity of our area."
