Well, you've read the notes, you are now feeling the Christmas spirit, and now it is time for you to post until the Christmas Cows come home.  To it, I say.

Wine.

Australia produces fine wines.  A good Merlot is my wine of choice these days.  Smooth as silk.

The topic of the day and the word of the day may well be allied.

Is it almost 5am and I sadly have not been to sleep yet. :(

My throat was so much better today during the day.  I even went shopping and then took a long nap.

But tonight it has been absolutely killing.  And unfortunately I ran out of the pain meds i got 2 weeks ago with my first throat infection.  I had thought about trying to get a few extras today (just in case). But since it is supposed to take 2 days for the antibiotics to work, and since i was pain free today, I thought I was okay.  Now I"m quite upset I didn't do it! :(

Well at least I watched this week's episodes of Ghost Whisperer, Close to Home and The OC!

I like a good Shiraz (also known as a good Syrah).

For something lighter, a Beaujolais Neuveax is quite nice.

Spicier food?  Pair it with a Zinfandel, but not that White Zin cr&p, which is just soda pop.

I'm not a fan of white wines.

Except for Champagne.

This is going to be quite a week, I can tell that already.

Looking over my work schedule, I've only got Monday off.  I rather like that, since I like to keep busy.

My hours are all over the place, however.  Today, I start early-ish.  Tuesday, very early.  Wednesday, I work late.  Thursday and Friday are somewhere in the middle.  And Saturday, Christmas Eve, I'll be at the store until it closes...at seven in the evening.

Christmas Day we'll be closed.  I know one of our competitor stores will be open, but they've been doing lousy business since they opened a month ago, nowhere near the big splash they thought they'd be making.

Somewhere in all this, I've got a country ham to prepare: scrub down, soak for three days, and then bake.  Or is it soak and scrub?  I've got to check on that.

And we have to head over to the grandlad's twice, once for Christmas itself and once earlier, to deliver "stuff."

And I've a session with my shrink sometime this week, too (nothing big there, just a check-up re depression and a 'scrip for my meds).

There's bound to be lots of other things adding to the schedule, as well.

I think der B wants me to bake cookies, too.

And I still haven't found anything to send to my father!

Good morning, all!  Today's my last trek to Toyland with Mr Murray, who departs for Chicago tomorrow to be musical director for a Stephen Flaherty-Gertrude Stein collaboration with Frank Galati, I believe,  We'll work on the last two numbers from the 1923 score for TOYLAND TODAY, then look at fixes in "He Won"t Be Happy Till He Gets It," which is not a song about DRJose, nor is the film "7 Men from Now."

Then I have to attend a festive Do at the home of DRsRodzinski and TPunk.  This will be a partay week.

You HAVE to attend the festive Do?

I could understand "GET to attend the festive Do," but "have" makes it sound like meeting your probation officer!

 ;)

(Of course, if your probation officer was anywhere near as pretty as TPunk...)

Pleasant Holidays, Elmore!

Quote
In 2001, the Guinness Book of World Records bestowed the record for the longest handmade candy cane to Paul Ghinelli, who created a 58-foot, 2 1/4 -inch cane at a restaurant in Leslie. He broke his own '98 record (16 feet) and 2000 record (36 feet). He'd planned to chop it up and auction it off, but the restaurant burned down a couple of weeks later.

From an article in the Detroit Free Press.

There is an Australian wine that I like very much....hmmmm....I don't have a bottle (took my last one as a gift) - but it is a white wine with flavors of lemon and toasted almonds.

Hmmmm....I need to get some more this week!

Ann Turkel!  Wasn't she once married the King Arthur aka Richard Harris?

Carole Cook!!  She was wonderful in many episodes of THE LUCY SHOW and of course....I love her on the 42ND STREET cast album.  Any Carole Cook stories in the Gower Champion book?

Worst Memory of Last Week:  Nathan Lane in an interview with Katie Couric during which much was made of "The Producers" and the Golden Globe Nominations.  That was fine and funny.  Then Katie mentioned that "Brokeback Mountain" had gotten more nominations.  Nathan smirked, ridiculed the line "I wish I could quit you"...over and over and over.

It was the most disappointed I've ever been in a celebrity of any ranking.

This might be a stupid question but what does "i wish i could quit you" mean?

Then I sang a wild contata.

But he never said, he loved me!
