UPS can be annoying.  They can’t tell us if our package is sitting in Maryland for sure or on its way to Portland.  At first it appeared the package was sitting in Portland.  If it isn’t in Portland than why do they even show the city when you read the tracking information?  Why not say on route to Portland.  So tracking says the package left Maryland on the 12th but is delayed to Portland due to the weather.  Keith checked the weather conditions and Maryland appeared to be fine.  Since the package contains a gift for Bryan we need it here before we leave for Portland.  End of rant.

I need to walk now!

With all the talk of Jane's new kitchen and Pogues new home, I've been thinking that maybe it's time for me to start looking for a new house. I love this one, and it was fine when I still had a lake house, but putting a three bedroom house of stuff into  a 2 bedroom that was already full hasn't worked too well.  So I'm just going to start looking.

Sioux City has lost a lot of jobs over the past 5-10 years.  There are lots of really nice houses for sale for very reasonable prices. I'm in no hurry, but once I set my mind on something, I seem to go for it. Anyway, I'm going to head out and go fro a drive past a number of places that look interesting on the internet to see if there are any I'd like to see.  This could be great fun.

Good morning!

It was lightly sleeting when I went to bed last night, but at some point, it must have stopped because other than the streets being damp this morning, there was no sign of ice or snow anywhere. Beautifully bright, sunny day!

However, in the newspaper this morning, the forecast for tomorrow morning was a warning to watch for "freezing fog." In 55 years, I have never heard that weather term in my life.

Listening to the soundtrack to BEST FOOT FORWARD in the car this morning on my way to the grocery store, it made me long to see the actual film which I will do today on a DVD I burned when the movie came on TCM some months back. I haven't watched it in awhile, so I'm looking forward to it.

I also need to start wrapping Christmas presents. I have parties coming up on both Wednesday and Thursday nights where gifts will be exchanged, and I need to at least start wrapping some of what's here.

Sadly, due to Amazon's glut of orders, some gifts may not make it here by party day. First time that has ever happened to me.

TOD: I don't know much about wines, other then I am not a big fan for them. But there was one from a local winery that I enjoyed...just don't remember which one it was.

I am certainly not a wine connoisseur, but I do like rose or blush wines very much. And I would much rather have any wine to drink rather than beer which I have never developed a taste for.

And, of course, for us Southerners, Cheerwine is in a class by itself. (Cheerwine is a soft drink bottled and distributed in the South; it's a heavily cherry-flavored carbonated soft drink. I'm drinking the diet version of it now.)

DR MBarnum, I'm glad you liked OKLAHOMA! It's one of the real classics of the American musical theater and one of the most faithful film versions ever shot of a Broadway show.

Yes, Gordon MacRae is to die for - the perfect Curly to my eyes and ears.

Yes, I did enjoy OKLAHOMA, DR Matth, but I don't think it will ever be one of my favorite musicals. For my Gordon MacRae fix I would more likely watch BY THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON!

B'day felicitations to PennyO & Dan the Man!

BK, I'm delighted 7 Men From Now is Out.  I must rush right out and buy it today!  We are going out to eye Big Screen HD TVs and dining room furniture.

I love a good Shiraz.  I like most anything from the vineyards of Qupe or Au Bon Climat.  I love bubbly.    The nice thing about being here is my best friend is president of the biggest liquor concern in Kentucky, The Liquor Barn...they are like giantic Trader Joe's and have several stores here and in Louisville.  Roger started out as a non-drinking, part-time clerk.  Over the years he became a wine expert and is now second in command of the whole concern.  He is also a scion of Lexington Theatre...which he calls "non-neurotic theatre" (meaning one doesn't have to make a living at it).  He's currently rehearsing for his role of Henry in Lion In Winter.  But he keeps me posted for all the great wines.  We asked him to make up a "welcome home" case for us of various reds and whites.  Last night we sampled the first...a lovely Chardonnay.

All of his musicals with Doris Day are wonderful fun. But among singing baritones on the silver screen, I love his voice and prefer it to, say, Howard Keel's (though I think his voice is wonderful, too).

Our apartment is clean and I have time to sneak in a quick trip to the gym before I begin preparing snacks for our holiday gathering.  (If I go to the gym, that means I get to eat whatever I want!!)

I'm up, I'm up, after a nice long sleep filled with completely wacky weird dreams.

Pogue - You can't get 7 Men From Now until Tuesday.  I may just watch it again today.

Good day, all...

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS TO DRs PENNYO & DAN THE MAN!!!

Sadly, I will not be able to attend DRs TPUNK & RODZINSKIS holiday do. I already promised I'd help a friend from work with HIS holiday do...

I don't drink, so I don't know from wines.

I think I have a cold. I'm really in denial about it, but I'm all stuffy and have been for a couple of days now. Oh, well...such is life.

And now I'm off to the holiday festivities!
