HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME TO 2006!
« on: January 01, 2006, 12:09:25 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, they were the first notes of 2006, you've read them whilst standing on your right foot, therefore we have started off 2006 on the right foot, so now it is time for you to post until the cows come home, which will hopefully be sometime in 2006.

Happy New Year everyone!

I am waiting for the fireworks in my neighborhood to die down so that I can take the dog out to do his business.

I will post my resolutions in the morning!

I just read Ron's review of Lestat on Page 5 of yesterday's posts.  It's sounds exciting!  I can't wait to get the CD...since I'm probably not going to be able to see it anytime soon.

Some local yokels were shooting fireworks here and some were quite loud!  My cat didn't even notice...didn't panic, didn't run away and hide.  I think that that's a good thing. :)

Well, I've finally caught up with all the fine posts from yesterday.  It's after 1:00 a.m., and I must be going.  Goodnight, all!

And one last time (from me) HAPPY NEW YEAR!! ;D

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Jed and I have had our champange...very cheap stuff :)  We have watched the ball drop, watched the Space Needle fireworks, and are now watching the South Park Movie...a strange tradition of ours.

I'll post resolutions tomorrow.

I will be picking up a friend at the airport around 4 p.m. this afternoon, so I know my usual routine for posting at HHW will be disrupted. The original plan was to be going out to dinner after picking him up, but sometimes my friend (who has a 90 minute drive home) just wants to get in his car and go, so we'll see about that.

Resolutions? I really haven't made any. I started on a serious diet three weeks ago, and so that resolution will continue into 2006. I canot let myself go like my father did at this age. I know if I did, I'd balloon up to close to 300 pounds the way he did. That is not going to happen.

So, staying on my diet is, I guess, the only real resolution I have now. I may think of more as the day progresses and I read what others have to say.

Since my day will be interrupted by going to the airport, I don't think I'm likely to start a movie I haven't seen before (like CINDERELLA MAN). More likely, I'll watch something I have seen before and that I don't mind interrupting to go to the airport. I'm thinking ANNA AND THE KING OF SIAM with Irene Dunne.

Or THE INCREDIBLES.

And since I enjoyed SERENITY so much last night, I'm sure I'm going to pop open the FIREFLY boxed set and start watching the TV episodes again. I'm not sure I had high definition when the show first aired (and if I did, I'm not sure the local Fox affiliate broadcast them in widescreen), so this may be the first time I will see the episodes in widescreen.

LESTAT does have a great looking logo! I, too, will look forward to the cast CD. We haven't discussed a trip to NYC in 2006 yet (the fellow I'm pickiung up at the airport today is one of the guys I go to NYC with), but I'm hopeful that we'll get to see it this year.

Good morning, all!   Happy New Year to you.  I'm not hungover, but I wasn't in bed before 3 am and I'm quite tired this morning.  I may see a film with my friend Matthew this afternoon, and give him his tasteful Christmas gift.  I have some Toyland work, some IRS assemblage, and that's more than enough.

I have never made a resolution that I've kept in the past 58 years, and I refuse to ever make one again.  Old Cootdom gives one privileges.

Ah well....I am watching LA TRIVIATA ala Samuel Goldwyn - pretty scary.

Happy New Year's Day to everyone at HHW.  We are certainly a tenacious bunch - in fact we hang in there no matter what!  And that's a good thing.  Why give up?  Why stop trying? Tell me why, baby.  Why, baby? Why, baby, why?

Like DRMATTH I plan to continue my diet and reach my goal....

I want to do some serious writing this year.  And I want to be IN a play at my favorite theatre The Phoenix.  It's been a couple of years since I have acted in the BIG city of Indy.

I also plan to do all I can to make my sister's store a great success!

DR CP said "June Wilkinson" - that always makes me happy.  I wonder if June brought in the New Year by twisting all night?  She sure CAN do it!

New Year's Day greetings!  Just as I suspected 2006 arrived whilst we slept.  DH Richard and DS Rob both woke up this morning feeling much better, so have taken off for their respective churches and I'm enjoying some solitude.

Have to give the resolutions some thought...

I've been up since 7 a.m.

Happy New Year, indeed.

Although I feel rested, I also am fighting a head cold that stays just a step ahead of all I'm doing.

Oh, well.  At least, I'm not down for the count!

I initially arose at 4 a.m. (I don't KNOW why) today.  I decided I'd put a roast in my crockpot for later today.

I then discovered that despite two trips to the market the past two days, I still had forgotten to buy an essential ingredient:  Cream of Mushroom soup.

So...that was my purpose for going to the market.

The market was filled with people -- all of whom work there.  They were very, very busy hauling out new stock items and stocking shelves.

I stumbled onto some rather wonderful things...sales on meats (N.Y. strips, pork loin and chicken), a shrimp cocktail platter (for $3.99), and I perused/bought several bottles of wine.

Nothing like going out for a can of soup.

At any rate, the roast is now cooking and all is well in the world.

The skies here are quite cloudy and dark.

The air is rather cool.

Another storm is moving in for tonight, but it MAY just graze us as it appears to be heading more to the south.

BK will probably get some of this here storm...and it's supposed to be a doozy.

I have yet to see "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."  I see that it is playing at an IMAX theater in Dublin...to the north of me.  I don't know Dublin, so driving there on a wet, ugly day doesn't appeal to me.  I could also take the BART there (the Bay Area's subway system), but I don't know whether it has a stop anywhere near that theater.

I'll ponder this more the next few hours and possibly I'll call and ask some questions of the theater staff.
