However, while sitting in the pit during the matinee, I noticed that my legs and arms felt a bit "firmer" - yes, my hands wander during book scenes, so...

Hmm, I suppose that depends on who sits next to you in the pit!

Am back from a long day! Drove up north and had lunch with Mark and James (today is James' birthday) and we at a fantastic meal at an Italian place at a new upscale mall in Lake Oswego. Then we shopped at Borders where James and Mark bought a DVD and a couple of CDs and I bought a CD of 100 STRINGS: CHAMPAGNE COCKTAILS and a double album RAY CONNIFF: WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN and LOVE STORY.

After that we went to see BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN....

...and I am here to tell you that BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN is one heck of a good movie! The two leads, who I have never seen before...as far as I know...were fantastic! I really enjoyed it. So did Mark and James. Mark particularly liked that it was filmed in Wyoming, which is where he is from.

My only disappointment with the film is that whoever was in charge of women's wardrobe and hair styles needs to take a refresher course one how women wore their hair in the 60s and 70s....the hair and clothing always seemed to be about 10 years off...in the early 60s they were dressed like the 70s and as soon as it became 1970 everyone had Farrah Fawcett CHARLIES ANGEL hair, which didn't really come along until several years later.

All the men wore jeans and western shirts so they didn't really matter as much.

BK - I take issue with a lot of Darrel Karl's observations, but am in total agreement with him about AFTER THE BALL and NEW GUY IN TOWN.  Hoping that it sells a lot of CD's for you and Kritzerland!

FJL, I obviously have certain issues as well (you know whereof I speak, and I, in fact, wrote him about it), but he is who he is - just a person with an opinion, like so many others.

Hello dear friedns!  I have missed you.  We have been busy here between hosting Christamas Day festivities and hosting New Year's Eve festivities.

We had a friend of the Vixter's over from about 4 PM yesterday until about 8:30 PM tonight

We had a few friends drop by New Years Eve starting at 5... a few of them have babies so they stopped by  for an hour or so and then headed homes, others are "DINKS" who had festive plans at fancy hotel bashes so they stopped by for an hour or so and moved on and then we rang in the New Year with our old faithful friends (who were instrumental in the introduction of Vixdad and myself) with whom we have rung in the pat 19 years, plus the Vixter & her friend who promptly retired glad they had "made it to 12"

This mornng we rose and went out to brunch with the aforesaid couple, the Vixter & freidns and a couple with  two toddlers... then all returned to our house fora day of board games and conversation... and now the friedns are gone the Vixter is abed, Vixdad is watching the Twilight Zone and here I am!

Speaking of back, I'm back from the party.  Jrand was right - two people came up to me and said VERY nice things - one of them had read Benjamin Kritzer and LOVED it and is now on a crusade to get it made as a film.  The other (Anthony Slide) had read Rewind and loved it.  So, that was very nice to hear.  I didn't eat anything, just chatted with folks, and then came back to the home environment, where I shall now light a log and finish the movie I'm watching (something I TIVOd aways back).

Bruce-wow, a movie.  I was only thinking tv series.

Thank you Bruce and elmore.  I'm really sad right now.  I'm going to go cuddle with Keith and watch something.

I've finished all the little foodstuffs I bought at Gelson's - a little lobster salad, and three chicken tenders.  I also bought some potato salad, which I just finished, and some chicken with almonds (like chicken salad), which tasted a bit funky to me, so I'm leaving it.  So, I need one more item to eat - popcorn?  Fudge?  I shall ponder.

Hi everyone.  I'm posting from the lobby of the Ramada Inn in LA, deep in the heart of what seems to be Korea Town.  I feel like I'm in the middle of Miss Saigon.  Anyhow, just wanted to let everyone know that my first breakfast in 2006 was at Du-Par's in Studio City. Fabulous pancakes, as you all already know.  It's been a great time here in So. Cal this week, except for the weather, of course, but we're getting by.  More when I get back.

Sorry to hear it, Jane.

vixmom, glad to have you back, and STAY back!
The Vixter, Vixdad and I all had the time between Christmas & New year's off from our respective jobs and school... very unusual for us to be able to spend so much time together without being  "on vaction" at a relative's home... we took the time to spend the time together... we rarely left the house just played board games, did some organizing and emptying of closets and drawers donating the excess to younger neighbors or the GoodWill as appropriate and just spent time talking to one another something we rarely get a chance to do with these crazy schedules we have... I envy the Pogues their new found time to relax in financial security and actually live their lives instead of spending them working and commuting!
