Here be the Barrymore's photos from last night. An HHW gathering in honor of Ginny and her DH Richard, as well as Barrymore's itself...

I find Tom Cavanaugh a likable actor, and when he guest starred on SCRUBS as Zach Braff's older brother, they made a great, surreal team.

I found LOVE MONKEY more sophisticated than ED.

Don't understand the whole Tom Cavanagh being employed as an actor thing.

Didn't understand him starring in Urinetown when I saw it.  Not that he was bad, but I wouldn't call him good either.

Exactly. He seems pleasant enough. But I wouldn't build a show around him. Much less two. Especially where great-looking ladies are after him.

While I'm glad BK is getting raves on the LA Times Readers Review site.  I really think this sort of era where everyone's opinion matters; where everybody's a critic provided with a podium to spew it from can really only hurt Art.  The Amateur as Auteur, the Amateur as Artist, the Amateur as Knowledgeable Critic I suspect will only lead to mediocrity being overlavished with attention and praise as it already is.  Bland bookstores that all carry the same shit; movie theatres that show the same shit; legit theatres that show the safe tourist pap.  It's going to continue to kill the original and the dangerous and reward only the commercially successful.  When everybody's opinion is given the same weight, regardless of their knowledge or expertise or how well they are informed, art and entertainment will continue to veer toward the less discriminating; the easily amused; the lowest common denominator.

It's a DVD.  Be patient with it--the camera man loses focus in the beginning but regains his mark shortly.

I hope that, in one way or another, it's within your interests.

The reality is, I like when people come to see the show, and, should they enjoy it, which our audiences seem to, they come up afterwards and speak to me.  They don't have to, no one is forcing them, so that's a very nice thing.  The fact is that here in LA there is hardly any difference between a reader review and a critic's review - that's how low it's gotten here in LA.  Doesn't mean I'm not grateful for either, but it's why I don't pay much attention to the good, the bad, or the ugly.  However, if I have to pay attention to one of that trio, let me tell you it will be the good.

Home from work... A freind sent me some treats today, actually two freinds....

One is cleaning out her closets and she sent me some goodies to watch... I plan on watching Into the Woods tonight... I have seen bits and pieces of it but not the whole thing....

She also sent me Music Man and American Graffiti...

My other goodies are vintage soap operas and All Creatures Great and Small....

I several things on my movie list I want to see but not sure about one of them..

Brokeback Mountain is one I want ot see and I am hesitant of the Matthew Broderick version of "The Producers". I have seen the Gene Wilder version from the 1970s.

I do not want to see the remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.... I get nervous with remakes because they are often not as good as the original...

Alright, folks, keep them library vibes coming!  So far, they're doing their job.  Got a call this afternoon telling me I'm on the short list and asking for a couple references for the library director to call.  Very good progress, and I hope to be able to share even better news in the next couple days.
