There are two songs that cause the giggles to break out for me and it has nothing to do with the meaning of the song but the context in which they were used.

1. Ballad of the Irish Horse: The piece of Sceal na Chapall  (Story of the Horse) was used in the scenes surrounding Connemara Ponies and especially of a Stallion mounting a mare.

Here is the funny. The Chieftains appeared on OLTL in 1996 and Matt Molloy was just playing a few notes on the flute and it was the above song. HOwever they used him playing as a carryover to scenes of a character named Antonio boinking some blond.

2. The Foxhunt:
Another Chieftains tune that my freind Sandy and I used for our tv production class and we had to do music vids. However we took a literal translation to the tune.... WE changed a few roles just a tad.....
In the song it refers to hunting the fox on horseback, etc, etc. Well we decided to go hunting MEN!! We chased this  poor guy all over and by the end of the song we had him treed. It was a riot!!

You know spring fever will do that to a person...

Yes TAR starts a new season tomorrow night. But don't forget it's on for 2 hours from 9-11pm. And American Idol is actually on from 8-9:30pm.  Here they show both on the same station, so TAR will be from 9:30pm-11:30pm.  Although I will probably just tape the end of AI and watch the CBS feed of TAR (since I don't want to tape it or stay up that late).

Silly saying from an Alan King book which I've always enjoyed for some reason:

"Zsa, if I may call her by her first name..."

Tonight really has a crazy tv schedule. There was nothing new last week, and now tonight we have the premiere of APPRENTICE, followed by MEDIUM.  Also there is COURTING ALEX, SKATING WITH CELEBS (next to last show), and 7th HEAVEN. Crazy.

Did anybody else see the Donald Trump/Apprentice/Medium commercial. I think i saw it during the olympics. It was hilarious. It had Trump in one of Alison's dreams saying he would be on right before her. Very funny.

Oh and my favorite team on Skating is now in the doghouse (Lloyd Eisler and Kristy Swanson). They are now a real life couple, and this happened while his wife was pregnant. :(

DR DakotaCelt asked about whether 1988 Canadian skating silver medalist Elizabeth Manley was still skating.

Apparently she is now coaching in Florida, and loves it.

The show was really sad, since she has faced depression and has had some very hard times. IT also said that she had a fiancee and was getting married i think this summer. So that made me happy.

She did ice capades for a while after Calgary. But she gained a few pounds and was told to lose it and then they fired her. :(

No, I travelled solo class.

I just wanted to stare out the window.  Chit-chat distracts from sight-seeing.

DR Cillaliz what was with all those brides at the closing ceremonies?

I did tune in to the last 10 minutes of Dancing With The Stars.

don't read below if you don't want to know who won.

.
.
.

.
.
.

It was on from 8-10pm. Anyhow at about 9pm my sister called and was like, "could it happen?" so i asked her what she was talking about.  She said that they had just eliminated Stacey (the wrestler favored to win).

So she wanted to know if there was a chance that Jerry Rice could win the show.

So I asked her what place they were all in with the judges (apparently they had to dance again last night and it was included in the judges total mark).

She said it was drew in first, stacey in 2nd and jerry in 3rd. So we basically figured out that stacey had to have had the lowest viewer votes, because they give you a number from 1 - 3 depending on how you finish.  So if she had finished 2nd in viewer votes, with jerry first, and drew 3rd then they would have all had the same score and drew would have gone home.

So that meant stacey finished 3rd in viewer votes, so even if drew finished 2nd he still had to win.

(did that make sense?).

So anyhow drew won, and that at least made the show not such a joke. I know some people felt jerry improved. And i suppose he did. But his final dancing was still so much inferior to lisa, stacey and drew that to me it would have been ridiculous if he had won.

Ron - Jose can probably attest to this since I showed my old passport to him, but the picture of me on that old passport (me circa 1990) looks astonishingly like your avatar.  When I get a scanner, I'll have to post that picture - it's an eerie similarity.

It's absolutely true...once you've found "it", you don't look any more, so it WAS in the last place you looked.

Thank you for the information, DR Jennifer. She was one skater I really enjoyed watching her.

Another skater I enjoyed was Josee Choiunard...

I've always thought I had a twin!!!!!!

I've even been mistaken for someone else....although I've always been afraid to find out who that other person is.

Of course, my avatar is circa 1977....so....that would mean you, in 1990, looked like you could be my....s-o-n!

Funny, my copy of Second Act Trouble, which I ordered last November, is still sitting there at amazon like so much fish, despite the "ships in 24 hours" on the order page.  I cancelled the order (rather than try to deal with them about it) and will reorder this evening.

Very gray out.

Ben, I suspect if this had been a well-directed, well-acted production of Barefoot, no one would be saying the play wasn't as funny as it once was.  Everything about this production sounds wrong - especially, much as I love her, Jill Clayburgh, who is so wrong for the role of Corie's mother it's not even funny.

For those who doubt the play is as funny as it once was, just spin up the DVD of its film version - I guarantee you you will laugh repeatedly and long and loud - it's fresh, it's funny, it's beautifully directed and beautifully acted by people who know how to do the material.  Mildred Natwick is a wonder and perfection, Fonda is winning and lovely, Redford gives one of the best light-comedy performances ever put on film, and Boyer is charm personified.
