-I haven't really read any of today's Notes or Posts yet, and that will most likely have to wait until later tonight.  I just decided to come for a bit to decompress.  I realized that staying in that room, in that theatre, doing all that detail work for six continuous hours yesterday was not exactly the smart thing to do.  I just got to a point of diminishing returns.  So, I'm taking a little break now, and then I'll head back in at the dinner break to get a few more hours of practice in.

Thankfully, tomorrow's rehearsal does not begin until 1:30, so I can actually sleep in a little bit - like I normally do, and I was already able to move my car a few minutes ago so that I wouldn't have to take care of it in the morning.  Ah... :)

We got a lot of work done this morning, and some new parts, which means I have to head back in in a little bit and do some more wood-shedding.

I'm really curious about the term underlined above...and its usage here.

Despite the fact that it could be misconstrued as a euphemism for something quite different, I'm guessing it's far more practical...and innocuous.

Well, since there were only three pages of Posts so far to catch up, I decided to catch up...

Also just read this on the internet:

- Former American Idol contestant Constantine Maroulis splitting from his band, Pray for the Soul of Betty, People reports.  -

I'm sure all who watched last night saw him in the audience for IDOL. Be interesting to see what kind of career in the business he wants.

...And on the Fox News here in NYC after "AI", they had their usual "AI" follow-up and gossip segment.  According to their sources, Constantine was spotted being very huggy with current "AI" contestant Kelly Pickler at last week's wrap party.  Hmm..

OH!  And the producers of "AI" were considering firing Paula Abdul due to her "erratic behavior", and replacing her with Britney Spears.

Question for BK -

When was the last time you were on stage in an acting and/or singing role?  And what show was it?

And another question for BK -

Does knowing you have friends in the audience make you (more) nervous?  Or do you appreciate the support?

Hmm...

I've always heard it in reference to learning something in a short amount of time.  Sort of like a compressed rehearsal period.

As for it's origins... ???  Maybe people used to go to the wood-shed in order to have some privacy while they were trying to learn something or practice.

???

Hey y'all!

I'm back in town after a drama-filled family week for my sister's wedding.  Oy.

Does anyone know anything about Asian theatre stars?  I need a King of Siam.

As for "AI"...

I actually think Ace does have a voice, but I think he's trying too hard to be "new" and "hip" and "different".  He sounded like he was whining through the song last night - even to the point of being nasal and unsupported breath-wise.  I'm guessing he was going for that sexy, breathy sound, but it just wasn't working.  And he needs to stop working those eyes, that whole final "sexy stare" at the end of his songs is just getting too too.

And did anyone else notice that in the wrap-up clip, they used a different clip than the "live" performance?  His falsetto was actually stronger and more on pitch in the clip than it was on the performance.  Mandissa also had different hair too in the wrap-up, and Paris' clip sounded different too.  I know they do rehearsals beforehand, so...

A trip to the woodshed has always held a much different meaning to me... although I suspect a trip to the woodshed did teach lessons in a relatively short period of time

Do you still need a Tuptim?  I've been working on my high A-sharp.

;D

*Oh, I guess I still need to get that invoice out.  Thanks for the reminder.

I just read this. The network in question passed on his pilot show; I can't remember now if it was ABC, Fox, or the new CW network.

IDOL has been very upfront about the fact that they often use dress rehearsal clips in the montage in the end since it's so hard to edit clips from the live show so quickly for that final sequence. This is especially true for the last couple of singers where it would be impossible to edit their clips in mere minutes after they've just performed.

The week that Paula got mad at Simon and moved to the end of the table away from him was her best week ever as a judge. Having to lead off the proceedings, she couldn't just parrot Randy but had to come up with comments first, and she was surprisingly good that week.

Where is the I LOVE LUCY Season Six box set?  I know that Desi Arnaz sold the first five years to CBS, but since VIACOM/Paramount has been broadcasting all six seasons, don't they have the DVD rights?  Maybe not.

You're right; that's exactly what he was doing, and he didn't have the voice to pull it off or at least, he wasn't enough in control of his instrument to be able to do anything with it resulting in a tentative, uninvolving rendition of the song.
