Such a contrast between what I should be doing and what I am actually doing right now.  What I should be doing is completing my reading for school tomorrow. What I am actually doing is bleaching my hair to create a new pink streak and listening to Mariah Carey.

I need safe cookie-eating vibes, so I'll take TPunk's general vibes as covering me as well.

I got a lead on a job today.  My supervisor recommended me for a newly open position at a day treatment program in the agency I am currently interning with.  It is a day treatment program similar to my own for emotionally disturbed adolescent girls.

I sent in my resume.  The only drawback is that they are looking for someone to start immediately and I have almost two months until I graduate, and it is in Brooklyn.  It's the A train which is across the street from me and express, but it's still about an hour commute.  We shall see.

TPunk, the pink streak should be useful in complementing the color scheme for the ads for the Encores production of 70 GIRLS 70

That is what they are there for.  And don't forget to eat those cookies with skim milk so that you cancel out the calories.

Hee hee, I am so tempted to do my whole head pink but then I fear my hair would have a straw-like consistency.  Ech.

Hm, I just checked and my hair is still a pale orangey color.  It's not yet time to rinse out the bleach.  This is a science people!!

I'm actually going to stir some low-fat chocolate syrup into the skim milk, thereby working up a sweat and actually losing weight by having the cookies.

I think that Walty and Killbot are plotting something.  And I'm pretty sure it involves world domination.

Have we ever had a Dear Reader request magic-trick vibes? I have to do a magic trick in class tomorrow and I'm almost certain it isn't going to work. We'll see how this goes.

I like Jean Simmons' work on A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, but I sure don't think David Kernan is a match for Laurence Guittard as Carl-Magnus. So, I have to give my allegiance to the original Broadway recording.

Tonight, before network TV kicked in, I watched Shirley Temple's 1935 film THE LITTLE COLONEL. I've always liked it though the major entertainment value now is seeing Shirley match screen stealing know-how with Lionel Barrymore (and the two dances with Bojangles Robinson). The story is pretty lame. And in the picturing of the slaves of Barrymore, I'm surprised the PC police hasn't confisciated this film. It makes the slaves in SONG OF THE SOUTH look sophisticated.

I didn't notice any particular scratches or print damage, but it's VERY clear the videotape masters are what was used for this transfer. It's soft and grainy.

Now, here's the thing I found the most interesting. The black and white movie is noted for having a final sequence in three strip Technicolor. This sequence has always looked unreal because of the lack of subtlty in the colors of flesh, etc. There are lots of overly saturated pinks and blues. But that's what very early Technicolor footage looked like.

For a lark, I watched the last few moments of the film and the Technicolor sequence in the colorized version which is also on the disc, and GET THIS: the geniuses at Fox used a black and white separation master for the Technicolor sequence and COLORIZED it so that it matches the awfulness of the rest of the colorization! This has to be a first!

'24' blazed forth with another mesmerizing hour of excitement, thrills, and real tension. In this week's ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, it named '24' as the best hour drama on TV. I find it hard to argue with that assessment.

CSI: MIAMI repeated one of this season's most bizarre stories, a crime spree based on a video game. Very unusual and highly entertaining hour.

Tonight I also watched last night's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT off the DVR. An intense guest star performance from Talia Balsam made for quite an interesting story.

DR DtM - I think television's Allison MacKenzie and the ex Mrs Frank Sinatra and the future wife and mother in law of Woody Allen - Mia Farrow was on the cover of the first issue of People Magazine.

DR DAKOTA CELT - the TV title of that movie was INDIAN LOVE CALL for a few years....after it was remade under its original title...but it is generally known as ROSE MARIE, of course.....
