June 2, 2025:

THE FIRST FIFTY PAGES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this month is flying by, like a gazelle twirling a baton whilst eating a tuna sandwich on rye. But here we are, as we always are, writing these here notes and carrying on our long-time tradition of bringing you the finest in blather every day. I feel by this time I should have won an award or something for this here site, but nooooo, why would THAT happen? So, we just keep on keeping on and we will keep on keeping on until the damn cows come home. Meanwhile, back at the notes, yesterday June may have been busting out all over, but I certainly wasn’t. No, I was home in bed until two in the afternoon, due to not going to sleep until five and then being up for an hour or so at seven. Crazy. Once up, I answered a few e-mails and got coherent enough for the arrival of the food I’d ordered on Saturday evening – a pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and 1000-Island dressing, extra lean. It arrived at two-thirty, and I ate it all up and it was of high quality. After that, I did a bit of writing, and made some notes on an idea that came to me during the night that could be a really interesting and fun book to write for January’s book. In fact, I love the idea for a whole slew of personal reasons. So, we shall see. That was basically it. I watched some YouTube stuff that was of interest and not irritating, I dozed off, I wrote a bit more, and here we are as a Caesar salad is on its way because I felt I needed some greens to be a healthy specimen. Should be here in about ten minutes, I should think. I listened to no music, I danced no dances, I did not do my interpretation of Don Knotts playing Hamlet, I played no board games, I painted no toenails, I twirled no baton whilst eating a tuna sandwich, I read no excerpts from Valley of the Dolls, I wore no socks, I sang no songs, and I did not play a double-belled euphonium or big bassoon. I just sat here like so much fish and that was that and this is this.

Today, I’ll be up by ten and I’ll be out the door by ten-thirty to do banking, then I’ll come home, futz and finesse and send Muse Margaret what will probably be fifty pages, and then I have a LOT of telephonic calls to make, mostly to book some appointments, I’ll eat something amusing, send out the Kritzerland rehearsal schedule, do whatever needs doing, and then watch, listen, and relax.

The rest of the week is writing, making a show order, writing commentary, a haircut on Wednesday, a lunch meeting on a day I can’t remember, and doing whatever needs doing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten, do some banking, come home, futz and finesse, send pages to Muse Margaret, make a LOT of telephonic calls and book several appointments, eat, send out the Kritzerland schedule, do whatever needs doing, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite instruments in an orchestra – the ones whose sounds are especially pleasing to you. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, looking forward to sending fifty pages to Muse Margaret for her mental delectation.
