Well, you've read the notes, the notes were visual and had style, and now it is time for you to post until the visual cows come home.

And the word of the day is: ASSOIL!
Umm...that's a real word??
;)
-
I guess it is (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ASSOIL?s=t).
-
Good morning from Montreal. I haven't seen leaves changing in a long time. I forgot how beautiful it was.
-
George is ushering "Something"
It was a benefit...and there were about 650 people in the audience. They loved the show. I listened to it in the lobby as I read my Kindle. I'm reading the Complete Wizard of Oz Collection. I'd never read any of them before, so it's very enlightening. The movie is obviously based on the first one, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," but is very different...actually, the movie is very different than the original book. The Wicked Witch of the West is referred to but doesn't actually appear until more than half way through. But it's a quick read. So far just last night, I'd read 14 of the 24 chapters.
-
Today, I'm working concessions for an early matinee of a local production of "Go Dog Go," by Olympia Family Theater. They're the group that put on "Goodnight Moon," earlier this year. I worked the sound board for that. I'm sure that it'll be delightful.
-
After that, I'll go to my parents' for a family dinner. It'll be kind of a long day, but fun.
Have a good day, all!
-
Hi all. I'm trying to ketchup very little by very little. But I'll get there.
-
Sunday morning greetings! I guess going to sleep at 10:30 is why I woke up a little after 7 this morning...
-
Good morning, all.

Loved that series when I was a kid, especially the first book. And I was kinda bummed at the ending of the movie, because it wasn't just a dream. Even at 8 or 9, I knew that was a cop out.
-
Good morning.
Now, I'm off to do a panel for the Austin Film Festival.
Later....
-
Have fun DR DRUXY!!!
-
DR GINNY has returned home!
DR CHAS SMITH is still in the city of the angels.
DR MATTHEW is across the bridge.
I'm glad I didn't come to HHW this morning before I went to buy my newspaper, otherwise I would have come home with a box of donuts.
-
Today is the Annual Meeting of Putnam County Playhouse. All of the committee members have to present their year end report, which I will be writing for the Promotions Committee in a few minutes.
I have been excused from rehearsal this evening since I only have the ONE LINE in Act Two.......which is nice.
Next Sunday night the Cryers will be in town, so we will be doing the show for them before they are folded into the fold.
-
I guess it is (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ASSOIL?s=t).
So it is!
-
Good morning, all! I am sleeping poorly these days: my right shoulder joint is givng me a lot of pain and sleeping is difficilt because I am uncomfortable. I have no plans for today, so I slept in. If this discomfort continues, I'll call my doctor about going back to physical therapy.
So, today, I'm going to listen to a British musical I've never heard, CHU CHIN CHOW, and watch some DVDs. If I can locate my heating pad, I'll apply it to my shoulder and see if that helps.
-
DR George, if you've ever read the 1902versionof THE WIZARD OF OZ, you'll be glad that the MGM film stays as close to the original book as it does. I had a copy of the published screenplay, and the early drafts for OZ, like the 1902 musical version, played fast and loose with the book's plot.
I've only read the first three OZ books. I loved THE LAND OF OZ, which I read quite often in grade school, and I really like the film RETURN TO OZ.
-
Good morning from the nation's capital. Canada, that is. It's amazing how quiet the airport is on a Sunday morning!
-
I think Ms. Streisand's concert last night was the best so far, though he second performance in Brooklyn came close.
In the last two shows she did a duet with her sister, Roslyn Kind, who has longed to sing with her on stage. They did the Judy Garland/Barbra duet of Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again, with Roz doing Judy's song. It was great, but of course not like the original.
-
Barbra's son, Jason Gould, apparently discovered (at the age of 45) that he can sing! He really can! He does a duet with his mother of "How Deep is the Ocean" and performs "This Masquerade" solo.
-
Waiting for my flight to Toronto on Porter Airlines, which I had never heard of till I booked the flight. They fly to Toronto's City Airport, which is much closer to downtown than Pearson.
-
Good morning, all.
Going out or a last drive before turning this car in and submitting to Group Activities. Will seek out something yummy to eat, too. This might involve a donut.
-
Later!
-
The new Criterion set of the movie Lonesome has, among it extras, a film version of George Abbott's Broadway, which had been lost for ages. Apparently, this is a put-together between the silent version of the play and the talkie.
-
No posts in an hour?
Where is everybody?
-
I'm up, I'm up. I was up at ten but refused to get out of bed. I finally got out of bed because I knew there'd be so many posts to read. Apparently I was wrong.
-
I've been getting cleaned up, reading the paper, and emptying the dishwasher. Now I'm watching the Cleveland/Indianapolis football game, mostly to see the stadium. The conference special event Thursday evening was Jersey & Jeans (http://grantprofessionals.org/professional-development/conference/evening-night-out-jersey-and-jeans), a tailgate party at Lucas Oil Stadium that included tours of the facility. Even though I have a cute new Michigan shirt that I could have worn, I thought the price was too high and didn't attend. I told my conference roommate, who is a national board member and went to the event in her Buckeyes sweatshirt, that if it had been $35 I might have gone, but $55 was out of line. Especially for hot dogs and nachos.
-
I took a nap.
-
Two!
-
two?
-
Yes, that's what I'M talkin' about. Too many people on Facebook instead of here. I can only say that many more people see it here than there, yet that is a fact that blindly eludes people.
-
I'm here, not there and, conversely, I'm not there, I'm here.
-
Guess if I'm going to jog I should get to it.

Back from my panel at the Austin Film Festival.
Met some nice people; had an interesting discussion.
-
Glad it went well, Druxy.
-
The script for Broadway may be creaky, but the director and his cameraman have created some amazing images that foreshadow Busby Berkeley. And the musical numbers are really interesting.
-
Back from a jog.
-
Page two? We'd best get a frenzy goin' on here or there will be hell toupee.

Gratuitous post 42.

Anna Kendrick as the shiksa goddess? Seems like a strange piece to turn into a movie. But she's a good choice.

Another beautiful day in Manhattan!
-
I ended up spending the afternoon working on my essay for DEAREST ENEMY. I really really really want to hear a first edit, but I'm stuck because our producer, with no release deadline, is taking her time.
I did book the hotel in DC for Thursday night. If my friend Loras at the LoC tells me that Thursday and Friday are bad dates, then I will change it. I'm not booking the train until I hear from the Library.
-
So, what's next?
-
I've not got to any DVDs yet.
-
I need to look for some dinner.
-
I didn't get to CHU CHIN CHOW.
-
My plans gang aft agley.
-
Okay, time to move outside for a bit.

Sounds like a big load of PR garbage to me. They'll "shop" it in Santa Monica. So, no script, no deal.

Oh, dear.

Planted some of the herbs I picked up yesterday, including lemon verbena and catnip as well as bok choy, lettuce and kale.

One more.

Good morning from Montreal. I haven't seen leaves changing in a long time. I forgot how beautiful it was.
One day I would like to see Montreal in Autumn, or anytime of the year.

I hope the heat helps. Have you done any of your stretches & exercises from PT at home? I still do most of mine everyday.
My biggest problem with my shoulder at night, aside from the pain, is rolling over. By the time I am able to safely sift into a more comfortable position I'm wide awake.
-
DR KevinH I wish I could have been at the concert with you.
-
Found a couple of eggplants growing on my plant this afternoon.
LOL, I was trying very hard to figure out what I was looking at. I thought it might be a, very blurry, black puppy with a purple collar on.
-
And a few photos of the white roses.
Lovely.

No, it's a lubricant.

She melts.
-
So, DR TCB, would you have paid $55 to tour the Lucas Oil Stadium and eat hot dogs and nachos?
-
I'm here-- briefly.
HAD THE DONUTS!!!
And drove a lot. Saw Westwood, and have much to post. Much. And I promise it will all happen when I'm ona real keyboard! Much to report. Much to discuss.
I need to get out here now and then.
Oh-- frickin street fair on Ventura, west of Van Nuys. Rjght where a simple detour becomes a long detour.
More later!
-
To give HHW fair time with FB ;)
I posted this to my friend that makes cupcakes. She needs joy in her life since her husband passed away at the age of 54. :(

It is hard to imagine that they were still worth the drive once you finally had your donuts. I hope I'm wrong.

Aren't those "herbs" still illegal in Texas?
-
Good morning from Montreal. I haven't seen leaves changing in a long time. I forgot how beautiful it was.
One day I would like to see Montreal in Autumn, or anytime of the year.
Perhaps we should hold our first International Haines His Way Conference there next summer?
Depending on who wins the election, I may be living up there by then, anyway.
-
Any donut with whipped cream is worth a detour or three. I have to be very careful not to go over there this week. Today, so far, I've had seven hundred calories.

Did it ever bother anyone else, that every damn person in the entire state of Kansas ended up in Oz, except for poor Uncle Henry? Granted, Auntie Em only showed up in the crystal ball, but Henry didn't even get that cameo appearance.

I can relate to that, Jane, but it is getting easier.
-
So, DR TCB, would you have paid $55 to tour the Lucas Oil Stadium and eat hot dogs and nachos?
It would be tempting, but now that I am on a fixed income, probably not.
-
DR TCB I'm very glad it is getting easier for you. Another reason you won't want flannel sheets. I'm a bit concerned tonight that with my new sheets it will be more difficult to roll over. It was with the old ones. The sheets do feel very soft and warm.

Well, I have never eaten at Genghis Cohen but I take BK's word that the food is heavenly.

The woman that did the two paintings of Sherlock has tweaked the first one. It originally had just a swirly green background. She has now changed that to a subtle, though detailed, wallpaper which I think makes him look very distinguished.
When I post photos they seem to pixelate. I hope it doesn't happen this time so you can see the detail on the wall behind him.

Thank you. I can't wait until she sends it to us. I suppose she needs to make a print of the original. I expect she keeps the originals.

Barbra Streisand & Jason Gould - How Deep Is The Ocean - Live in Philadelphia 2012

If Sherlock were still here Keith would have taken us for a hike today, instead we went to the Redbox, market and home. I am tempted to start going on my own to enjoy the fall colors.
My friend with two Berners, and an amateur photograph, hikes every Tuesday. Last Tuesday she went at sunrise to capture the early light. If she goes at a reasonable time this week I may join her. I just have to drive 20-30 minutes to get to her first, but then she will drive the rest of the way.
-
I am so tired.
-
DR Laura did you do something special & fun that tired you out?
-
I had homemade onion soup tonight with croutons and melted cheese!
-
Nice cupcakes photos. And nice redo of Sherlock's photo.
-
And nice details of the Streisand concert.
-
I am going to go read and then watch The Amazing Race.

DR Jane do you still read any paperbacks or hardcover books? I won this thing called a bagabook and I am totally in love with it. I'll see if i can find a picture of one. It's basically a cover that you put your book in. And it has a handle so you can carry the book. But you don't have to lift the book while reading it. You can just rest it on your bed, or your lap or whatever. So it doesn't hurt your arm/shoulder.

I also have homemade apple crisp which I am going to go eat soon.
-
Lovely photos from DR JOHN G.
And Lovely photos from DR JANE!!!
-
I have returned from the board meeting and am now awaiting The Amazing Race that is supposed to start at 8:30, but since 60 Minutes hasn't started yet....my guess is that it will be delayed somewhat.
-
We are lucky that The Amazing Race airs on a Canadian station. So it always starts on time. Hopefully it will start at 8:30pm for you guys.
-
How very cool. The Kingston Trio just sang the National Anthem at the Cardinals vs Giants National Leauge Playoff Game. I guess I forgot (if I ever knew) that The Kingston Trio was from San Francisco.

That's really cool! I saw one for a Kindle as well. Can you use this for your Kindle?
I have two paperbacks I'm saving for my flights to Cozumel in case my Nook runs out of battery. Otherwise I'm basically using the Nook.
Half the time I read on my side and/or under the covers. I wonder if this would work then. I fold my Nook back so it is half the size and it is pretty comfortable. The size is why I don't get an iPad which is superior.

I already have a case for my kindle. But i couldn't use this specific thing for my kindle. IT has to have a front and back cover to stick in the front and back. I didn't think i would love it this much. But I"ve been sticking every book i have in it (if i own the book i take off the cover first). It fits most books except very large hardcovers.
-
And DR Jane mine has a bookmark attached to it. And a zippered compartment in the back to put papers in.
-
Also for DR Jane, the bagabook basically holds your book in place for you. So you could probably lean it against something and read in bed. Sometimes i rest it on a kleenex box. And i don't need to use my hands at all.

Okay, I was just asking. It seems like when you run on a regular basis, you don't need to watch your calories that closely. Is it a matter of finding enough time to run?
-
It's being of an age when losing weight is truly almost impossible and gaining weight is almost impossibly easy. It's annoying but one must deal with it as one must. I fluctuate, oh, yes, I fluctuate, but this year has been so busy that jogging has not happened on too many occasions, and I'm also a little bored of it. But if I get my metabolic rate back up and then eat under 1200 calories every day for two weeks, I will lose ten pounds pretty quickly.

I can understand that. It is tough for me because I had to start eating regularly again, to regain my health. But I am not able to go walking or do most other types of excercise, so eating right is going to start having a negative effect.

I have totally vegged today. It finally dawned on me that in the past 4 weeks, I've gone out of town during 3 of them and the 4th was that busy Middfest week. No wonder I'm tired.

In my book, football is always a better choice over baseball.
-
I really really really hate these campaign ads!
It would be bad enough with just the candidates, but we also have the issuses of gay marraige and legalizing marijuana that fill in all the blank spots between the smear campaigns we have for governor, attorney general, etc. here in Washington. Oh yeah, and also President.
-
Sadly, nothing fun, Jane. We had a potluck at church, and I helped with the dishes. The dishes have to be almost clean before they go into the dishwasher, and the commercial sink is so low that it all just really hurts my back. Then some folks from church came to see my yard, and I let their six-year-old grandson tag the two monarchs that eclosed this morning.

I can see why you enjoy it so much. The handle for carrying it is great.

And DR Jane mine has a bookmark attached to it. And a zippered compartment in the back to put papers in.

You can eat right without increasing the quantity of food by too much. I know though, when I don't exercise the weight goes up.

We're about to watch the Cincinnati Bengals play against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Probably won't be pretty...
It should be entertaining. It sounds like a better choice to watch than the National League playoffs.
In my book, football is always a better choice over baseball.
I'll take baseball any day.

How very special for the six-year-old.
Sorry about that sink. I would not like it.
-
I did not exercise today & ate too much, which would not have been too much had I exercised.

Why would I want to eat right? Food is one of the few pleasures I have left.

As soon as "Once Upon A Time" ends, I am off to bed. Good night, everyone!

During my busy 4 weeks, I haven't been exercising enough, either.

Because eating right will help you feel better, plus gaining too much weight will make it more difficult to walk.
If only I took my own advise more often. The junk I ate today without exercising has had a negative effect on me.

Speaking of eating, DR TCB, are you watching the Cincinnati/Pittsburgh game? They just showed the assembly of Skyline chili and coneys.
-
NBC is showing some pretty shots of downtown Cincinnati during the football game.
-
Off to watch SAFE and they try our new flannel sheets.

'night

Finished the contextual commentary and then revised some of what I wrote yesterday.
-
Nice cupcakes photos. And nice redo of Sherlock's photo.
Yes, both are really nice.
-
Caught up on posts and I have now forgotten everything I wanted to comment on, but I am sure I liked everything I saw and enjoyed everything I read. That should about cover it!

Now, I must decide if I should finish watching the Punjabi film "Carry On Jatta" or tune into tonight's THE AMAZING RACE.
-
Watching a very interesting motion picture that I've somehow never managed to see and I think most people in the world would also be in the same boat as me.

It is a pretty funny movie, and I that it was fun to spoof the old British Carry On film titles.
I had to stop the film in order to watch tonight's episode of THE WALKING DEAD. Once scene made both Freddy and myself literary jump up out of the chair. Scared the bejeebers out of me!

This last week I FINALLY watched the 1931 and 1941 versions of DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE....believe it or don't, I had never seen either one. Now I am eager to catch some other versions, plus rewatch the 1970s Bollywood version.
PS: I think I preferred the 1941 version over the 1931 version, but enjoyed both.

Six!

Watched "Nunset Boulevard." Why? Can't figure out any reason for it to exist and even less why I watched the whole thing. The first one was charming fun. This was cheerless.
-
Night, all.

I'm home from my long weekend away. The Frankenguest is gone, good riddance, he was a hot mess. And tomorrow is another day and another week.
And that's all I have.
-
Although, a donut filled with whipped cream sounds super amazing.

Thanks DR JohnG, several Facebook friends in India were talking about this today. He was certainly one of the biggest Bollywood producers of the last 40 years.

Glad life is back as it should be for you, DR Matthew.

I think either my DVR remote is dying or my DVR machine is dying. When I press a button on the remote there is quite a delay before anything happens on the machine end of things. And sometimes when I press a button, nothing at all happens. Tried new batteries in the remote, but that did not help.
Just in case it is the machine that is going wonky, I am gonna try to get everything that is saved on it burnt to DVDr this week. I have several movies and TV shows I have been meaning to transfer to DVDr, but just hadn't gotten around to.
Burnt James Garner's UP PERISCOPE, earlier. Now, I am burning William Holden's (and James Garner's) TOWARD THE UNKNOWN.

The problem with occasionally looking up people you used to know is that sometimes you find out they have passed away. Such is the case with comedian Holly Henson, who I knew very well in the late 1980s, when she was just starting out. I've thought about her over the years, and I think I'd looked her up a few years ago to see she was still at it. When I Googled her I found her website so I didn't even bother looking at the rest of the hits I just went directly to it. Then I accidentally went off the page and had to go back to Google and that's when I saw the second entry, that she's died. She was living in Minnesota with her husband. Very nice gal. When I was doing Totally Hidden Video back then, she was always scrounging for gigs and dough, and I told her I would occasionally have someone up to give a massage, and she said she'd do it cheaper, so I gave her the money and once a week she'd come to Santa Monica and give me a massage.
