Well, you've read the notes, the notes gave thanks, and now it is time for you to post until the thankful cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GORMANDIZE!
-
First after bk this Thanksgiving Day.
-
Giving thanks for bk, who cheers us on and provides a home for this wonderful community of characters.
-
Am now going to try to go back to sleep.
-
Sleep. Yep. Another thing I am thankful for, that sometimes seems to be in short supply.
-
Giving thanks for bk, who cheers us on and provides a home for this wonderful community of characters.
Ditto! HHW is definitely an oasis of the Internet!
-
Yes, thanks to BK and HHW!
-
First morning East coast post!
-
Happy Thanksgiving Day!
-
I must echo the sentiment of being grateful for Hhw and all the wonderful people who reside here. I wish you all a wonderful day and good eating!
-
This year nbc is running "an encore showing" of the Macy's parade after the dog show. I like that idea!
-
Last night I was expressing my regrets that I never brought the Vixter to the parade and she told me she had no desire to be there that she prefers watching it in her pajamas , wrapped in a cozy blanket and eating fresh from the oven blueberry muffins (which has been our tradition)
-
I was looking at my avatar just now and realized I really need to lose about 25 pounds
-
By tomorrow that will likely be 30
-
So what is on the menu for all of our DRs today?
-
What I will be serving
Turkey ( I am toying with using a recipe using a honey glaze and stuffing the turkey with apples onions and lemons ). I am not sure if I will be run out if town if I make the stuffing outside of the turkey
Side dishes :
stuffing with apples
Cauliflower casserole
Peas with pearl onions and mushrooms
Mushrooms in butter/sherry sauce
Carrots
Turnips
Steamed new potatoes
Cranberry sauce
Crescent rolls
I didn't get Sweet potatoes or yams and am now rethinking that descision. Maybe a flying visit to the supermarket is in order

I went to the Macy's Parade as it was on my bucket list. Didn't see it from the beginning but what was the first thing I heard playing?
Our own Bruce Kimmel and Michelle Nicastro sing Be A Santa. The act is a group of women dancing with shopping carts.
-
What I am thankful is that after many years of suffering they have finally figured out that I am suffering from Pancreatitis, Barrett's esophagus and Celiac Disease.
It may be strange thing to be thankful for, but I've been suffering for the last five years and none of the other doctors I went to could find it. If it wasn't for my knee be replaced none of this would have been found.

Vibes that your medical team finds a treatment for you Mike!

That is pretty cool!

TOD:
Thanks that wife Sandy and I both came through our individual surgeries okay.
-
Happy Thanksgiving!
-
TOD: Friends: old (one I've had since kindergarden) and new (and in between), including friends I've made at HHW!
-
I'm recording both ABC and CBS Thanksgiving Parade programs since they have performances from different Broadway shows.
-
Good morning, all! And a very happy thanksgiving weekend to one and all!
-
Our DR Matthew is in Manhattan, and we have tentative plans to meet tomorrow morning before he catches a matinee.
-
As for today, I have no plans. I do believe I will do laundry this morning, and that's my day.
-
After my ordeal with the computer yesterday, I am very happy that it's now running so happily. I have the Macy's parade on the telly for background - they're forcing me to hear something from Finding Neverland at the moment. Jesus! What a bad "family" show.
-
Thankful?
I'm happy that this property mess hasn't destroyed my relationship with my brother Randy and JoAnn.
I am grateful that Brick Run Therapy and its staff has me in as good shape as I am, and I think it's time to return before I completely fall apart.
I am thankful for the friends in Manhattan that kept me alive with tickets to shows, surprise gifts, an occasional meal or a job.
I am very grateful to several friends on HHW who got me through a dreadful 2014-2015 with help evacuating an office, surprise checks and gifts in the mail, and encouragement and good wishes online.
Thank you.
-
Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving!
We are doing Thanksgiving tomorrow at my new daughter-in-law's aunt's house. But my DH bought a small turkey to cook because we want the leftovers! I am trying to get it to defrost.

Good late morning, all!
-
Didn't sleep in, but I've been busy helping out with T-Day chores.
-
I am grateful for good health and for friends. Plainly and simply.
-
But also, especially, for this place and its denizens. Thanks to BK for all that he endures to keep us up and running. And thanks to a very great group of people for just being here.
-
You know, it's kind of silly that the several of us HHWers in this area don't think about getting together for Thanksgiving. Shall we try it next year? And I don't mean at some restaurant. No sirree, I mean a real gathering and sit-down dinner at somebody's house. And I hereby volunteer vixmom's!!! :D Okay, actually, seriously, I volunteer my own. This can be done. We can do it. Oh yes we can.
-
I'll wear a fez.
-
Special thanks to DR Elmore for much help and generosity in musical matters. It means a lot!
-
I have the laundry in the washers. I'm not moving well today. Some days the left leg doesn't like supporting my avoirdupois or being forced to move. This is such a day.
I received a very kind surprise invitation to what I know will be a gathering of lovely souls, but all I could see was the disaster of my apartment turned upside down for the laundry room and my ability to walk maybe as far as the corner. I turned it down but i really appreciate the invitation.
-
Happy Thanksgiving!
Another year!
Like DR CHAS SMITH I am most grateful for my health and my family.
And of course for all my friends in life and on the web especially here on HHW.
-
Thanks for the FRANKENSTEIN report DR ELMORE - I think my sister and I are going to see it on Monday.
We are not having a big get together today....just some drop ins now and then.
-
Good morning, all. And thank you for all you give me throughout the year.
-
Our DR Matthew is in Manhattan, and we have tentative plans to meet tomorrow morning before he catches a matinee.
Please give him my best!
-
Finishing up Pitfall this morning. I realize I have seen this before. It has some good scenes and anything with Lizbeth Scott is always worth watching.
-

Would love to see a photo or two.
-
Thanksgiving morning greetings! Our bird went in the oven at 8:40am and we've been watching the parade festivities ever since. Flipping between NBC and CBS and managed to catch most of the Broadway numbers, including FIDDLER.
-
I'll be headed south of town a little later to an olive orchard. The owner has included a couple of friends and me for the last few years, and it's always nice. Just her, her brother-in-law and his family.
I have made another Cranberry Delight Pie for the day (third this season) and will be making roasted cauliflower with Kalamata olives.
I don't know what else is on the menu except for brussels sprouts. Could be beef. Could be turkey. Could be both.
But I am sure it will be good.

In my days of a single person my friends and I would have a friends giving the Friday or Saturday after thanks giving. If you would consider such a thing I would happily ferry everyone in my 7 seater van !

DR Elmore, did you hear the high school band from Indiana play out just now with "Love and Honor to Miami"?

DR Elmore, did you hear the high school band from Indiana play out just now with "Love and Honor to Miami"?
No. I am not flipping channels. Or I might have been in the basement. Once i'm there I need to sit for a bit.
-
We have been up for a while, and doing things about the house that we never seem to have time to do during the weekly routine.
-
There is a light filigree of snow falling and coating things. Our first significant of this winter season. So far, not enough to interfere with any plans.
-
So what is on the menu for all of our DRs today?
I have no idea what is on our menu. Our contribution to the feast is wine.
Lots and lots of it.

My lower back is really bothering me today. I wish I could take a pain pill, but I can't until I return from dinner. It may be a shorter day than usual.
-
Why can't you take a pain pill now?
-
Does it have to be taken with food?
-
From DR TCB:
I considered backing out of T-Day at Sharry's, so I could work all day without interruption. But I must go and meet my new nephew, Frasier.
I hope I am not too late responding. I'm envious. Give Frasier a big kiss from me.
-
From DR Singdaw:
We have a guest "suite" with a separate bathroom, so you are welcome any time.
We used to have a beautiful guest suite with a beautiful bathroom. I miss them. We still have a nice guest "suite", I just don't like it as much. Instead of being at the far end of our house the guest room is practically across from our bedroom.
-
DR Singdaw if that photograph is of your neighborhood, it is lovely.
-
I would be hesitant to try cranberry curd tart. I agree, it is colorful ;D

Hello, everyone and
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Definitely!! :-*

I'm recording both ABC and CBS Thanksgiving Parade programs since they have performances from different Broadway shows.
Ditto! I'm going to my parents' house soon, so I won't get to watch either broadcast until I get home tonight. Then, I'll also have to get ready to leave tomorrow to visit my cousin in Oregon. AND I'll still need to do at least one more load of laundry! :P
It's going to be a busy evening for me.
;)
-
Well, I'm off. Have a great day, all!!
-
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
-
I had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, stuffing, twice baked potatoes, cranberry sauce. I didn't make any other sides, I'll make them with my left overs. I didn't bake a pie either, I'm thinking for today I may just put some of the cranberry sauce over some vanilla ice cream.
-
I was just about to get into the shower this morning when I heard my phone vibrate (don't know why it doesn't ring; I'm still learning this phone). It was an 800 number. Sigh. It was Discover card, asking whether certain transactions were mine. Yes on Amazon, no on iTunes. I suppose we all go through this from time to time. I had to cancel the card. It'll be about a week before I have a new one. That's not a problem, but that particular card number is embedded about a dozen places. THAT'S the problem. I pulled out my bill and am making a list of the accounts which need to be changed. I think only one needs attention right away. Sigh.

My friends from the Bay Area have now come and gone. It was nice to see them, but I wish we had more time to visit. They have other stops to make. Many of my other friends are either ill or taking care of those who are, so we're all staying home. I don't mind that at all. Best to get well.
-
We had a little freezing rain followed by snow. The roads look bad online, so I'm VERY glad to be home in my house wiht my cats and a nice dinner
-
It's turned cold here. I was cold all day yesterday. Today I'm in a turtleneck and jeans and socks, and am about to put on a wool pullover.

I can relate to that! Stay warm and stay safe.

Jane, I started making big meals for myself years ago. I've lived alone longer than I've lived with other people, including growing up and I love to cook. I have never really understood people who don't take the time to cook for themselves. I think it's much easier and better than going out all the time
-
Besides, it seems that every time I eat "nice" restaurant food I get sick.

DR Michael, I'm sorry you've had so much trouble, but glad you have a better idea now of what's wrong. I recommend Sherry Rogers, MD's NO MORE HEARTBURN. It's all about problems of the gut. (The title's misleading.) It helped me enormously. Usually available from Amazon.
Vibes for better health and a better year next year!

Paul called early this morning wanting to go out for breakfast. It was sleeting at the time. How insane is that? I said no. I'm not going anywhere
-
I'm hungry and need some lunch.
TTFN.

I am thankful for my friends near and far, virtual and real....and those who are both :)
I am thankful for my family, both human and feline
I am thankful that I survived the summer both physically and financially
-
Jeanne so glad you are here....come back after lunch
-
I went to Bridge of Spies with my friend Fiona yesterday. We both loved it. I am also thankful that she got home from about a month or so visiting her family in the UK before the recent terrorist activity started. So is she.
-
Warm here for November. But I have a feeling that DR CILLA LIZ has been posting about the weather we may be getting in a day or so.
-
Don't send it our way, DR Jrand65!
-
(Thanks in advance.)
-
Just being lazy and watching some USA TV thing called Mr. Robot - another SAG screener - normally they don't do this, but they sent us the entire season. It's not terribly well written but I like paranoid thrillers so maybe I'll watch and see where it's going. But just a note to the creator/writer - when you're lead character in the pilot has already done morphine and smoked pot repeatedly, I'm just about done with you and your show. The character is interesting on his own, why go to such cliche land? And when his best girl pal says, "Want to watch a movie and get high" you know you're dealing with a creator/writer with arrested development and that this is more about him than his characters.
-
I finished the laundry around 3:00 and took a nap. Since then, I've put the laundry away, carted several cartons and other trash to the basement, and I'm pondering dinner. I'm ready to go back to bed, and once i take my muscle relaxer and the Tylenol with codeine, the drugs will knock me out.
-
Considering we are doing Thanksgiving tomorrow at an in-law's house, I threw together a nice little feast for the three of us tonight.
-
The neighbor asked about turkey soup, so I helped him take the meat off the bones and get the pot ready to make the stock.
-

So nice of you, Laura.
-
The two types of brussels sprouts were wonderful.
The four types of pies were great.
-
Watching Scrooged for the first time since I saw it in the movie theaters. Overblown but funnier than I remember.

DR Jeanne I hope you added the sarcasm in my last post.
-
Our Thanksgiving dinner was a success. There were only 6 of us, but we had a good time. Our friend Betty brought 2 bottles of this year's Beaujolais Nouveau and I'm about to polish off the second one.
-
Hi, Jane.

Hi, Ginny. Have a glass for me.

That is not good.

I went to Bridge of Spies with my friend Fiona yesterday. We both loved it. I am also thankful that she got home from about a month or so visiting her family in the UK before the recent terrorist activity started. So is she.
We declined a couple of invitations for today. One we didn't want to go, the other was in Portland for drinks and dessert beginning at 8:00. We saw CREED this afternoon and enjoyed it very much. I would have liked to see Bridge of Spies if it had been an option, however, I think Creed was a good holiday.

We have already frozen one entire breast from today's perfectly-cooked turkey. And we still have a whole platter of meat left over for sandwiches and such.
-
The neighbor asked about turkey soup, so I helped him take the meat off the bones and get the pot ready to make the stock.
I would eat turkey soup because I rarely see it. My mother made it for Passover instead of chicken soup.
-
Hi John.
-
Freezing quickly, very wise Ginny ;)
-
Keith fried tofu with green beans and mushrooms, delicious.
-
Even though it was a bit cold and windy it was a beautiful clear day for a walk.
-
I missed the sunset though as it was dark when we got out of the movies.
-
Well we are back at home. I ended up relenting and making the turkey using the old tried and true method.
-
Don't like Barnes and Noble right now. Trying to buy something online and the website won't give me my membership number. Ugh.

Everything came out very well and now I am stuffed

Hello, 5 guests.
-
Watching a bootleg of Patti LuPone and Audra McDonald in Anyone Can Whistle. Both excellent, but McDonald is the best Fay I've heard. Her version of "See What It Gets You" kills.

LOL, Oh, you'd get used to it. I make way more than I could eat at one sitting. So I don't even try

When I watch SCROOGE now, I am always astonished by how good looking Albert Finney was......
-
I heard from everyone in the family today. It's funny, a few years ago I was home for Thanksgiving and was all sad and depressed about it. This year, I had the best day. My mom said she was sorry I was alone, but honestly, it's just what I needed and I had a lovey day. I just told her that looking at the roads made me very happy to be safe at home
-
When I watch SCROOGE now, I am always astonished by how good looking Albert Finney was......
I meant to say Scrooged. It was the Bill Murray version.
I'll watch the Albert Finney version in a week or two.
-
Back from a warm and cozy Thanksgiving dinner at Barry Pearl's, all lovingly prepared by his ever-lovin' Cindy. Small gathering but fun.
-
I'm home and my one load of laundry has just finished washing. Now, it's time to put it in the dryer.
-
Excitin', ain't it??
;)
-
I, of course, got the time wrong - something I rarely do - I had it in my head as starting at five, but it really started at four. I still arrived before dinner, but boy the traffic was INSANE. I don't get it frankly - at 4:50 on Thanksgiving it's worse than damn rush hour traffic. Don't most Thanksgiving dinners start earlier than that. Who ARE these people? I actually zoomed very fast until the 405 at which point things slowed to a stand still and remained that way - I finally got off two stops before my off-ramp and took Burbank Blvd. which had no cars on it at all. Same coming home - from Barry's to the 405, jammed - the minute you continued after the junction, no problem at all.
-
I'm very full, but I don't feel I really overate - I mostly had turkey, maybe five or six ounces, which is nothing, two helpings each (but small), of yams, stuffing and green beans, and then one small piece of pumpkin pie. Normally I eat double or triple that amount.
-
Jane! Frasier is absolutely beautiful! And Sharry was thrilled that you would be visiting soon. She was wondering if you might want to meet Frasier when you are in town.
-
Well, we are getting close to another page turn.
-
Just one more post!
-
SIX!!
-
:D
-
Six

Dinner at my parents' was good. None of us like the same thing, so we all had different things. For the first time ever, my mom actually did NOT make a turkey. I had some chicken and au gratin potatoes, my sister and niece had vegan stuffs, my parents had ham, and my sister's boyfriend had some vegan stuffs and ham. And there were various side dishes that everyone enjoyed.
-
We had some Costco pumpkin pie and homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
-
After eating, we all played Phase 10. A good time was had by all. :)
-
Jane! Frasier is absolutely beautiful! And Sharry was thrilled that you would be visiting soon. She was wondering if you might want to meet Frasier when you are in town.
I would love too, maybe before the show.
-
It would also be nice to meet Sharry in person. If not before the show maybe the following morning before we leave town.
-
George do you not like ham? You were the only non vegan who didn't eat it.
-
Have a good trip to the state I used to live in.
-

I'm not a fan of it unless it's very thinly sliced on a sub sandwich. :)
-

Thanks! We're going to drive right by you, probably around 11:00 am or so. I'll wave!
;)
-
I will wave back.
-
PAGE SIX?? REALLY??
-
We got home around 10pm. I was too full to do anything but go straight to bed.
-
I must be up early in the morning to get to work. But right now, I am wide awake. :P
-
It seems like just about everyone had a very nice day.
-
That is something to be thankful for!
-
It would also be nice to meet Sharry in person. If not before the show maybe the following morning before we leave town.
So, you are coming north on Sunday and going home Monday morning?
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
George and David, I apologize for my little smart-aleck joke last evening.
-
Once again, I have driven all from the site.
-
Not even a Guest this evening.
-
George and David, I apologize for my little smart-aleck joke last evening.
No need to apologize. We're all friends here. :D
-
Hmmm. Whatever that was, DR TCB, it didn't even register with me. :)
-
Can we make it to PAGE SEVEN before bk cuts today off?
-
We can but try!
-
Try, but we can.
-
29 shopping days until Christmas!
-
But we can try.
-
PAGE SEVEN!
-
And on Thanksgiving Day, no less.
-
It was a post!

Well actually, it is no longer Thanksgiving.
-
But we can always take the time to be grateful.
-
'Twas indeed, DR TCB.

Well actually, it is no longer Thanksgiving.
For you, maybe...but us on the left coast still have about 12 minutes of it left!
-
;D
-
We have about twelve minutes left of the holiday.

Hawaii still has 3 hours and 10 minutes left.

Yeah, but I'm not in Hawaii.
-
If we lived in Hawaii, we would probably have had Spam for Thanksgiving.

Yeah, but I'm not in Hawaii.
Have you ever been?

Have you ever been?
No. My parents went there on a trip when I was very young, but my sister and I stayed with my aunt and uncle.
-
Have you, Tom?

Have you, Tom?
A couple of times. I have been to Honolulu twice, Maui once, and Kona once. I liked Kona best of all.
-
A former supervisor of mine and her husband used to go on a cruise to Hawaii every year during the month of May. For about 10 years, that was her yearly vacation. They LOVED it.
-
Remember, I used to be a travel agent.
-
I did not remember that, DR TCB.
-
I should like to see Hawaii some day.
-
Where they celebrate Thanksgiving.
-
For hours.
-
I want very much to take a cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii and back again It is a two week cruise.
-
Even while it has concluded for us here on the mainland.
-
Wow, closing in on another page turn.
-
It could be a HHW Thanksgiving for the history books.
-
Or not.

I've never been on a cruise. I'd love to...someday.

BIG few days approaching for our DR TCB.
-
We can make it.
-
Let's do it.
-
We did it.

PAGE EIGHT!

BIG few days approaching for our DR TCB.
Don't remind me. I am a nervous Wrecks. See what I did there?
-
Goodnight, boys. I think I have to at least TRY to sleep a few more hours.

Good night, SloppyJoe.

Good night, Sing.

Well, I hate to do it (no, I really do!), but I must be going to bed, also. I have to get up early because my sister and niece are going to pick me up here at my house and then we're off to the southwestern corner of Oregon!
-
Good night, George.
-
I'm bringing my tablet, so I'll be able to check in every once in a while. I'm also bringing my Kindle and all appropriate charging cables...including one for my phone. That's most important. But my cousin and his wife have wi-fi at their home, so that won't be a problem.
-
Good night, Tom!
-
Have a good day tomorrow, everyone!
