Last night I was expressing my regrets that I never brought the Vixter to the parade and she told me she had no desire to be there that she prefers watching it in her pajamas , wrapped in a cozy blanket and eating fresh from the oven blueberry muffins (which has been our tradition)

What I will be serving

Turkey ( I am toying with using a recipe using a honey glaze and stuffing the turkey with apples onions and lemons ).  I am not sure if I will be run out if town if I make the stuffing outside of the turkey

Side dishes :

stuffing with apples
Cauliflower casserole
Peas with pearl onions and mushrooms
Mushrooms in butter/sherry sauce
Carrots
Turnips
Steamed new potatoes
Cranberry sauce
Crescent rolls

I didn't get Sweet potatoes or yams and am now rethinking that descision.  Maybe a flying visit to the supermarket is in order

Dessert courtesy of Mom
Apple pie
Pumpkin pie

Appetizer courtesy of Mom

Crab dip

I went to the Macy's Parade as it was on my bucket list. Didn't see it from the beginning but what was the first thing I heard playing?

Our own Bruce Kimmel and Michelle Nicastro sing Be A Santa. The act is a group of women dancing with shopping carts.

What I am thankful is that after many years of suffering they have finally figured out that I am suffering from Pancreatitis, Barrett's esophagus and Celiac Disease.

It may be strange thing to be thankful for, but I've been suffering for the last five years and none of the other doctors I went to could find it. If it wasn't for my knee be replaced none of this would have been found.

After my ordeal with the computer yesterday, I am very happy that it's now running so happily.  I have the Macy's parade on the telly for background - they're forcing me to hear something from Finding Neverland at the moment. Jesus! What a bad "family" show.

Thankful?
I'm happy that this property mess hasn't destroyed my relationship with my brother Randy and JoAnn.
I am grateful that Brick Run Therapy and its staff has me in as good shape as I am, and I think it's time to return before I completely fall apart.
I am thankful for the friends in Manhattan that kept me alive with tickets to shows, surprise gifts, an occasional meal or a job.
I am very grateful to several friends on HHW who got me through a dreadful 2014-2015 with help evacuating an office, surprise checks and gifts in the mail, and encouragement and good wishes online.

Thank you.

You know, it's kind of silly that the several of us HHWers in this area don't think about getting together for Thanksgiving.  Shall we try it next year?  And I don't mean at some restaurant.  No sirree, I mean a real gathering and sit-down dinner at somebody's house.  And I hereby volunteer vixmom's!!!  :D   Okay, actually, seriously, I volunteer my own.  This can be done.  We can do it.  Oh yes we can.

I have the laundry in the washers.  I'm not moving well today.  Some days the left leg doesn't like supporting my avoirdupois or being forced to move.  This is such a day.

I received a very kind surprise invitation to what I know will be a gathering of lovely souls, but all I could see was the disaster of my apartment turned upside down for the laundry room and my ability to walk maybe as far as the corner. I turned it down but i really appreciate the invitation.

I'll be headed south of town a little later to an olive orchard. The owner has included a couple of friends and me for the last few years, and it's always nice. Just her, her brother-in-law and his family.

I have made another Cranberry Delight Pie for the day (third this season) and will be making roasted cauliflower with Kalamata olives.

I don't know what else is on the menu except for brussels sprouts. Could be beef. Could be turkey. Could be both.

But I am sure it will be good.

I was just about to get into the shower this morning when I heard my phone vibrate (don't know why it doesn't ring; I'm still learning this phone). It was an 800 number. Sigh. It was Discover card, asking whether certain transactions were mine. Yes on Amazon, no on iTunes. I suppose we all go through this from time to time. I had to cancel the card. It'll be about a week before I have a new one. That's not a problem, but that particular card number is embedded about a dozen places. THAT'S the problem. I pulled out my bill and am making a list of the accounts which need to be changed. I think only one needs attention right away. Sigh.

DR Michael, I'm sorry you've had so much trouble, but glad you have a better idea now of what's wrong. I recommend Sherry Rogers, MD's NO MORE HEARTBURN. It's all about problems of the gut. (The title's misleading.) It helped me enormously. Usually available from Amazon.

Vibes for better health and a better year next year!

Just being lazy and watching some USA TV thing called Mr. Robot - another SAG screener - normally they don't do this, but they sent us the entire season.  It's not terribly well written but I like paranoid thrillers so maybe I'll watch and see where it's going.  But just a note to the creator/writer - when you're lead character in the pilot has already done morphine and smoked pot repeatedly, I'm just about done with you and your show.  The character is interesting on his own, why go to such cliche land?  And when his best girl pal says, "Want to watch a movie and get high" you know you're dealing with a creator/writer with arrested development and that this is more about him than his characters.

I finished the laundry around 3:00 and took a nap.  Since then, I've put the laundry away, carted several cartons and other trash to the basement, and I'm pondering dinner.  I'm ready to go back to bed, and once i take my muscle relaxer and the Tylenol with codeine, the drugs will knock me out.

Sigh.

Happy Thanksgiving.

This is a very nice thought.  How cold is it there today ;)

We declined a couple of invitations for today.  One we didn't want to go, the other was in Portland for drinks and dessert beginning at 8:00.  We saw CREED this afternoon and enjoyed it very much.  I would have liked to see Bridge of Spies if it had been an option, however, I think Creed was a good holiday.

I heard from everyone in the family today.  It's funny, a few years ago I was home for Thanksgiving and was all sad and depressed about it.   This year, I had the best day.  My mom said she was sorry I was alone, but honestly, it's just what I needed and I had a lovey day.  I just told her that looking at the roads made me very happy to be safe at home

I, of course, got the time wrong - something I rarely do - I had it in my head as starting at five, but it really started at four.  I still arrived before dinner, but boy the traffic was INSANE.  I don't get it frankly - at 4:50 on Thanksgiving it's worse than damn rush hour traffic.  Don't most Thanksgiving dinners start earlier than that.  Who ARE these people?  I actually zoomed very fast until the 405 at which point things slowed to a stand still and remained that way - I finally got off two stops before my off-ramp and took Burbank Blvd. which had no cars on it at all.  Same coming home - from Barry's to the 405, jammed - the minute you continued after the junction, no problem at all.

I'm very full, but I don't feel I really overate - I mostly had turkey, maybe five or six ounces, which is nothing, two helpings each (but small), of yams, stuffing and green beans, and then one small piece of pumpkin pie.  Normally I eat double or triple that amount.

Have you, Tom?

A couple of times.  I have been to Honolulu twice, Maui once, and Kona once.  I liked Kona best of all.

A former supervisor of mine and her husband used to go on a cruise to Hawaii every year during the month of May.  For about 10 years, that was her yearly vacation.  They LOVED it.

Well, I hate to do it (no, I really do!), but I must be going to bed, also.  I have to get up early because my sister and niece are going to pick me up here at my house and then we're off to the southwestern corner of Oregon!

I'm bringing my tablet, so I'll be able to check in every once in a while.  I'm also bringing my Kindle and all appropriate charging cables...including one for my phone.  That's most important.  But my cousin and his wife have wi-fi at their home, so that won't be a problem.
