Final post about this - I haven't actually made a post about this since the first day it happened, unlike everyone else who's been absolutely relentless about it - like RELENTLESS via e-mail and here and Instagram - it's why I hate these popularity contests. People have theater companies vote, casts vote, entire schools vote and then when the "winner" is announced they go all "I"m so HONORED." Really? :) So, this is my second entreaty to 10,000 of my nearest and dearest friends to go play this silly game so I can be HONORED because I need to be HONORED, plus Dial 'M' for Murder was really good. Here's the direct link - vote if you haven't (here's how others game the system - they have the same people vote from different computers under different e-mail addresses - not that I am advocating THAT), and then have every single person you've ever know also vote, then have every person they've ever known also vote. After the first two days of voting I was actually in the lead for about twelve minutes. All right, then, that is my second and final post on this matter and I know you're all grateful that I wasn't doing this every single day. https://www.broadwayworld.com/los-angeles/liveupdate2017region.cfm?btype=2138®ion=Los%20Angeles
Larry and vixmom - Are you allowed to tell us what that person at the talkback was trying to stir up controversy about?
This led to a discussion of art and its political ramifications, and the woman cleary wanted all to confess, yes, Trump's our villain. She was like a dog with a bone.
After that issue was passed by to everyone's satisfaction except Miss Lady Dog's, she came back with a Big Inquiry into the sheriff's badge: exactly how many points were on that star? Was it historically accurate? Who decided that? I felt we were about to be pushed into an accusation of anti-semitism, when Jim Morgan said, the costume designer showed her options to the director and he selected the badge. End of discussion. She was very unpleasant. I felt she was cruising for a fight.

The show's around eleven years old, and Jim Morgan was talking about its evolution. The authors added the quote "Make Arizona Great Again" to the villain's song for this production, and she was trying to force the issue of how much politically the writers were drawing comparison between a lecherous governor in the show and the current lecherous moron calling himself a president.

How did Arizona get dragged into this?
When we had our first staging of “Moonshine and Mistletoe,” than called “Christmas Up the Holler,” in Hilton Head, we decided to add a New Year wish to send the audience off at the end of the show after the bows. I don’t remember if this decision was my wonderful collaborator DJ Salisbury’s, our mighty musical director Brent Frederick’s, or our wheeling’-dealin’ producer Kevin Duda’s, but this is a good wish for an audience leaving a holiday show, and a good wish to end any year.
This past March, we recorded much of the score for “Moonshine and Mistletoe” with an excellent cast. Here’s wishing you a good 2018!

DR vixmom and I had a wonderful day yesterday. Good company is the best medicine, and it was a wonderful, crisp wintery day of good company and good humor.
Why am I up at four-thirty?
It's supposed to be freezing weather at night here in Austin for the next 3-4 days.
Hopefully, that will dissuade noisy New Year's revelers in our neighborhood, since we're usually asleep by eleven.
Envelope vibes for MR BK.

The setting was Arizona pre statehood

We are still in the same clothes, just brushed our hair, but then we are skipping dinner ;D
DR elmore, just curious but was the badge yellow?
The Jay recording of The Baker’s Wife is boring. How do you make Pagnol boring?

I like much of the JAY recording because the score is so good. Mrs Nunn stinks as Genevieve.

Yes. She does.

The OBC with Lupone, Peterson, Ralston, and Sorvino is irreplaceable, but so much of the score was never recorded so I sit back and revel in the JAY recording. I miss Sorvino's singing but Alun Armstrong is so heartbreaking.
Listening to a real flopsical called Maddie, which was a Brit show based on the movie Maxie with Glenn Close and Mandy Patinkin.
It's freezing here, and the thought of those 2-million people standing in Times Square just three blocks form us gives me sympathetic frostbite. And I'm shivering a little already just watching the early coverage on TV.
Then I stopped at Rite-Aid - you'd think it was Christmas rush there - about twenty people waiting in line - ridiculous. Lots of liquor being purchased for dopes who drink themselves silly on New Year's Eve, and funnily lots of people buying Christmas stuff at cheap prices. People never cease to amaze me. I got my Pepcid and left.
In case I fall asleep early, best wishes to everyone here for a Happy New Year!
Five!
Did the show by any chance take place in Arizona before statehood?
Way back, many many years ago, when DR Sandra was probably a preschooler, Arizona had quite the governor fiasco. Some local folks wrote a show about it. It was hilarious, and pretty much true. Plenty of material: Evan Mecham, Fife Symington, Rose Moffard.
I tried looking for it on youtube, and didn't find it there.
DR elmore, just curious but was the badge yellow?
BK - It would be lovely if you got this for directing!
But when we talk about you, and of course we do (like when we tell people our show's album is on your label), your Grammy nomination and your Best Song MAC award seem to be very impressive to pretty much everybody. And people know those aren't social-media-driven popularity contests.
I do hope you get this, but you've already gotten much higher honors, plus all your accomplishments.
Our next JUMP is Parma.....I guess we're lucky then didn't use trampolines......
I just did something that represents, for me, the fresh start of the new year. For the past 3 years I've had a basket right here next to my desk containing Mom's "affairs" - bank statements, checkbook, medical forms, etc. To my best knowledge that's all settled, so I've put it all in a file cabinet drawer. I know I can't get rid of all of it yet, but it doesn't need to be in my face all the time.

“Our Next JUMP is Parma.” That is the name of my new musical about Arizona before statehood!
I don't think we've had an Edna Ferber musical since SHOWBOAT, DR TCB - so go for it.

Well done. You'll have it if it's needed, but you needn't be reminded daily.
Feel better vibes for DH RICHARD.
Now I want chicken soup and nachos. I'm going to see if we have any taco fixings left from Saturday......
I watched GET OUT tonight.....it is exactly as MR BK wrote - I couldn't hear or understand a word the brother said.
HA.....there was just enough left for a nice taco bowl!!!
They liked it. I've made them before. The big hit, though, was the gluten-free cupcakes. Who would have guessed?
DR JEANNE I think that prosperity specifically and in general will continue on an upswing. I think we can have some good things happening that will NOT be shadowed by the pessimism of this year.
While there will still be much division in our country - I think we will be brought together by an event that needs everyone's cooperation....probably sometime in the late summer or early autumn....not a TRAGIC event, but one of another kind.
As individuals, we can accomplish anything we wish if we are optimistic AND industrious. First we must define exactly what we want.
All in all....a BETTER year for all....accomplish something early in the year for an especially successful FULL year.....
No posts in over a minute.
I think Mariah is coming on....

Isn't that a bit unnecessary? If he/she is already his fiancé?

Vixmom, it's almost Monday. When will you be making your announcement?
When I am given permission
I wish my doggie was here with me.
Two minutes to East Coast balls.
I think we shall publish a list of names of dear readers who could not be bothered to join our merriment and mirth and laughter and legs. We shall post a list of names and then we shall hurl gummy candies at them.
Two minutes to East Coast balls.
I had the weirdest thing happen tonight.

Sandy died in June!
Is it comforting, TCB? Or frightening? Or just puzzling?
Maybe Annabelle and Thatch took over the inner web or are holding DR ELMORE prisoner.....
We saw The Miracle Worker together in 1962 or something - or was it 1963?
Will 2018 be the year I achieve 100,000 postings?
Someone is clearly gaslighting me.
So at least one East Coast denizen has moxie.
I hope I am correct about vixmom’s news.
Would you like to post your guesses before I tell?
Not pregnant
I prefer page seventeen to page sixteen, don't you? This is 16 going on 17

Oh he just said that
I’m way ahead of you, ma’am.
Does this mean we have to give her a HHW shower?
Good golly I'm down to 8% so if I suddenly disappear you'll know the reason why

A "Wrinkle in Time" was my favorite book when I was kid, so I'm pretty excited about the movie.
DR elmore, just curious but was the badge yellow?
I don't know.
They have now made their FB announcement so all restrictions are off
Weird story, TCB.
