Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written for harmonica soloist, and now it is time for you to post until the solo cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FLEXITARIAN!
-
And strongest most excellent vibes and xylophones to our very own Jrand on the loss of his mum. It was obvious how important she was to him and how much he loved her. Hoping he'll be back with us soon.

~~~Ditto!!~~~
I'm up, I'm up - oh, yeah, haven't gone to bed yet. Must take a hot shower.
-
Yesterday, Vixmom mentioned that Harlan Ellison had died. If I remember correctly, he was good friends with former DR Charles Pogue. Condolences to Charles Pogue, and Harlan Ellison's family and friends. :(
I've always preferred to shower in the morning. My former housemate (who let me keep his cat Ebonie when he married a woman who was allergic to cats) showered in the evening, which was very convenient since there was only one bathroom in the three bedroom house that we lived in.
Ellison had been ill for quite some time - he was eighty-four - a nice, long life.
It is. I think three of my four grandparents died in their mid-eighties.
-
Well, I need to sleep now.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to all
-
Condolences to the Jrand Family
-
TCM had a lot of musicals this past month good and bad and I recorded most of them. So I have a lot of films to catch up on.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I’m very glad it’s Friday.
-
I have no gumption today.
-
Good morning, all.
This is the last day for the painter. After this, we're just waiting for a carpet to be delivered and installed, and that's easily another week or longer.
Progress. Has your carpet dried out?
-
We didn't have a wet carpet. It just happened that we'd been wanting to replace the one in the affected bedroom, so we took the opportunity to let them rip it out and get rid of it.
-
I just read that Carl Hiaasen's brother was killed in the Annapolis shooting.
Something good out of all of this ;)
Friday morning greetings! Hot & humid here in SW Ohio today...
Excellent progress.
The stories of all five are so sad.
Nice to see Josh’s name and orchestrations singled out in one of the reviews of On a Clear Day.
Let’s move on.
Has everyone but me started the weekend early?
I'm in full-on prep for our Sunday departure for NYC. When we leave for church, we'll be packed for our week away and will head for lunch and the airport as soon as the service is over.
Next up: Laundry!
Laundry. I have to do that, too. Not sure when I can fit it in.
DR vixmom, the instructions did not say the monitor had to be completely submerged for a minute or more to set off the alarm. They both work, and one is now set up in the bathtub. I gave the other to Val and told him to keep it in case someone else was careless as I.
Oh, no. :(
The Barnes and Noble Criterion sale is on.
There’s a new Peter Pan musical in London? And by the team that wrote the unnecessary songs in the stage version of Mary Poppins?
How many does that make?
Bernstein
Leigh-Charlap-Styne/Comden-Green
Bricusse
These guys
Any more?
Liliane Montevecchi has died. She was both a delightful and charming lady and a difficult diva. She drove me crazy on a Jerome Kern gala in 1985, yet she was kind and delightful whenever I was lucky to run into her after that.
That is good and nice that you could give Val one.
-
I am very proud of myself as I went to the gym with Keith today.
I loved her in the original Nine, which was the second show I saw on Broadway. When she squealed I LOVE IT! after opening Guido’s gift of a mile-long boa, everyone in the house was in love with her.
-
Yet another new version of Little Women in the works. Greta Gerwig wants Soairse Ronan and Meryl Streep.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I didn't get to sleep until almost four-thirty so eight hours, but I'd set the alarm for ten-thirty and it didn't go off. Glad to have gotten the sleep but no time to eat and barely time to go do a few things before rehearsal. To it.
If it's THIS ONE (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002PREKSE/) (see picture below), it's been around for about 10 years. I have the CD and like it. I really like their style. Is it necessary? Of course not...unless you're an absolute Peter Pan completeist. ;)
Oh, no! :( I loved her in Nine (at least, on the recording).
Why?? :o
-
DR Laura, how is Rex doing?
-
Good afternoon.
-
No sign of Jack today?
-
I hope he is doing okay. At least, coping.
-
Yes, at least coping.
-
Nick gave me quite a scare today.
-
He had not urinated all day, and when I called the vet about bringing him in (at 1:00 p.m.), they said it was too late on a Friday to bring him in there.
-
Instead, they told me to take him to the Emergency Vet in South Tacoma.
-
That is the place where you, quite literally, have to give them a check or a credit card for $1000.00 before they will look at your animal.
-
When I got off the phone, I practically begged Nick to go pee. When I went to the bathroom, so did he!!
-
-
Crisis averted.
-
However, I think I will start looking for a different vet.
-
DR JRand I am so sorry for your loss. Best wishes to you and your family.
Great relief on all sides!
City Vet is open seven days a week. Aren't any vets in Tacoma on that schedule?
-
Good evening!
-
Glad Nicky is okay!
I saw her a couple of years ago at 54 Below. She was part of the Grand Hotel reunion. She was delightful! After the show, I was talking to her and Brent and there was no one to take a photo of the three of us, so Brent took one of me and Miss Montevecchi.
I never heard of any around here who are, and we have the same type of emergency jernt TCB refers to. You’re very fortunate to have that there in the city, DR Elmore.
Glad to hear they're working, DR elmore!
More vibes to DR JRand and family.
-
I'm leaving early tomorrow for Buffalo. I thought I might get away from the heat here in Virginia, but the forecast is for the 90's there too.
That is very unusual unless it is a specialty/emergency practice. You are lucky.
Understandable but I am sure he appreciates the fact you got the flood warning gadget. I still suggest setting a timer before you turn on the tub so you don't need to use the flood alarm.
-
Keith was amazingly nice to me after I set the alarm in Chicago for 7:30 and forget to set the clock back an hour. He did not want to wake up at 6:30 when he had not slept at all the night before.
-
I splurged on dinner tonight and have continued to eat too much. I may have walked 12 miles in total today but it will not save me from gaining weight. I will have to be extremely good tomorrow.
-
We ran into someone we know at the market the other day and made plans to meet them for dinner tonight. They cancelled and we were just fine with that :)
-
Hopefully they won't call too soon for that rain check ;D
-
Well, I must be off. I was just going to go home, but my sister told me that the Big Tom's Burgers on the eastside of Olympia is having a Pride fundraiser! They're donating a certain percentage of all their sales today to (I think she said) the Olympia Pride Foundation! So, I'm off to Big Tom's for some Pride-supporting food! ;D I told my friend Margo about it and she wants me to pick up a burger and a shake for her, too.
Be back later!
Page three? Get outta town!
-
This is pathetic.
-
Page four? Get outta town. This is pathetic.
-
Had a really good second rehearsal - made some changes to arrangements and it's all good.
-
Then I had to get something to eat - a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog, a side Caesar salad, and a few onion rings - all very good.
-
Now I'm listening to music - the first three Streisand albums - these "restored" and "remastered" CDs are HORRIBLE - they have had the life sucked out of them by amateurs.
That's the one.
Watched a lesbian ballroom film called Leading Ladies. It had the same problem that the American version of Shall We Dance? had. Why would you do a dance movie in which the people don't dance at the end. They do everything but dance. Ugh.
There was one really good dance scene in it.
-
Now I'm starting a Francois Ozon flick called In the House about a precocious young prep school student and the teacher who is excited for the first time in ages by a student's talent. Naturally, things won't go well. It is a French film, after all.
Tonight we watched the last two episodes of season one LOST IN SPACE. While we have a few issues with it we will be watching season two. Ex kept for one person we like the cast, especially the kids. The boy who plays Will is excellent.
Gratuitous Post #100!
Well, the burgers that Margo and I got at Big Tom's (https://eastsidebigtoms.com) were pretty good. Margo got a Deluxe Cheeseburger and I got a Raptor Burger.
-
The burger's not on their menu, but they list a Raptor Pizza which has "locally made spicy WOW sauce, ghost pepper cheese, jalapenos, bacon, & sausage."
-
The Raptor Burger has the same toppings except the bacon and sausage.
-
It was spicy and really drippy but very good.
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Really?
-
How are you, George?
-
Have you had The Raptor Burger before?
-
How did you know you could order it, if it isn’t on the menu?
-
After our burgers, I went to Target and actually was FINALLY able to buy an NES Classic Edition (https://www.target.com/p/nintendo-entertainment-system-nes-classic-edition/-/A-51431883)!
-
And it didn't cost me $300!
-
Good evening.
Hi, Tom.
-
How are you, George?
I'm good. How are you?
-
It Was Spicy and Really Drippy - that's the title of my next novel.
-
Time is a fleeting people - page FOUR?
-
Have you ever tried their hot dogs or their coney islands?
-
Have you had The Raptor Burger before?
I haven't. I think it was either new or a limited edition.
-
I love a good Coney Island!
-
One more post.
-
How did you know you could order it, if it isn’t on the menu?
They had signs and asked if I wanted to try it. I did.
-
Page 5
-
I didn’t know you liked spicy food.
-
I used to really love spicy food; but the older I get, the less I enjoy it
-
I still like some spice.
-
But ghost peppers?
-
Have you ever tried their hot dogs or their coney islands?
I haven't had either of those, either. I rarely go to Big Tom's. Here in Tumwater, there's an Eagan's Drive-In. I think that they used to be owned by the same Eagans family, but they split off. Their FB page is https://www.facebook.com/eagans.drivein/ (https://www.facebook.com/eagans.drivein/).
-
I didn’t know you liked spicy food.
Some spicy foods, but not all. I don't usually like actual jalapeños, but if they're chopped or mixed in something, I do.
-
But ghost peppers?
I've never heard of those.
-
They are supposed to be one of the hotter peppers you can buy.
You're right. I hadn't heard of them before getting this burger.
Oh, okay. Sorry.
Yikes! :o
-
Was the cheese really spicy?
It was, and with the jalapeños, the burger was VERY spicy.
Interesting.
-
Is Big Tom’s in Olympia or Tumwater?
-
I love to try burgers at different places, especially small independent drive-ins.
-
Okay, I’ll admit it. I just love food.
-
There is one on Yelm Highway that is suppose to be really good.
-
Auto-correct tried to make that the Yelp Highway.
-
George, have you ever ordered from Grubhub? Or do they not offer it down there?
