Title: BEING THE SOLOIST IN THE HARMONICA NOTES
Post by: bk on June 29, 2018, 12:03:23 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written for harmonica soloist, and now it is time for you to post until the solo cows come home.

And strongest most excellent vibes and xylophones to our very own Jrand on the loss of his mum.  It was obvious how important she was to him and how much he loved her.  Hoping he'll be back with us soon.

Yesterday, Vixmom mentioned that Harlan Ellison had died.  If I remember correctly, he was good friends with former DR Charles Pogue.  Condolences to Charles Pogue, and Harlan Ellison's family and friends. :(

I'm up, I'm up - oh, yeah, haven't gone to bed yet.  Must take a hot shower.

I've always preferred to shower in the morning.  My former housemate (who let me keep his cat Ebonie when he married a woman who was allergic to cats) showered in the evening, which was very convenient since there was only one bathroom in the three bedroom house that we lived in.

It is.  I think three of my four grandparents died in their mid-eighties.

This is the last day for the painter. After this, we're just waiting for a carpet to be delivered and installed, and that's easily another week or longer.

We didn't have a wet carpet. It just happened that we'd been wanting to replace the one in the affected bedroom, so we took the opportunity to let them rip it out and get rid of it.

I'm in full-on prep for our Sunday departure for NYC.  When we leave for church, we'll be packed for our week away and will head for lunch and the airport as soon as the service is over.

Next up:  Laundry!

DR vixmom, the instructions did not say the monitor had to be completely submerged for a minute or more to set off the alarm.  They both work, and one is now set up in the bathtub.  I gave the other to Val and told him to keep it in case someone else was careless as I.

How many does that make?

Bernstein
Leigh-Charlap-Styne/Comden-Green
Bricusse

Any more?

Liliane Montevecchi has died.  She was both a delightful and charming lady and a difficult diva.  She drove me crazy on a Jerome Kern gala in 1985, yet she was kind and delightful whenever I was lucky to run into her after that.

I loved her in the original Nine, which was the second show I saw on Broadway. When she squealed I LOVE IT! after opening Guido’s gift of a mile-long boa, everyone in the house was in love with her.

I'm up, I'm up - I didn't get to sleep until almost four-thirty so eight hours, but I'd set the alarm for ten-thirty and it didn't go off.  Glad to have gotten the sleep but no time to eat and barely time to go do a few things before rehearsal.  To it.

If it's THIS ONE (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002PREKSE/) (see picture below), it's been around for about 10 years.  I have the CD and like it.  I really like their style.  Is it necessary?  Of course not...unless you're an absolute Peter Pan completeist. ;)

I saw her a couple of years ago at 54 Below.  She was part of the Grand Hotel reunion.  She was delightful!  After the show, I was talking to her and Brent and there was no one to take a photo of the three of us, so Brent took one of me and Miss Montevecchi.

Understandable but I am sure he appreciates the fact you got the flood warning gadget.  I still suggest setting a timer before you turn on the tub so you don't need to use the flood alarm.

Any more?

If it's THIS ONE (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002PREKSE/) (see picture below), it's been around for about 10 years.  I have the CD and like it.  I really like their style.  Is it necessary?  Of course not...unless you're an absolute Peter Pan completeist. ;)

That's the one.

Watched a lesbian ballroom film called Leading Ladies. It had the same problem that the American version of Shall We Dance? had. Why would you do a dance movie in which the people don't dance at the end. They do everything but dance. Ugh.

There was one really good dance scene in it.

Now I'm starting a Francois Ozon flick called In the House about a precocious young prep school student and the teacher who is excited for the first time in ages by a student's talent. Naturally, things won't go well. It is a French film, after all.

Now I'm listening to music - the first three Streisand albums - these "restored" and "remastered" CDs are HORRIBLE - they have had the life sucked out of them by amateurs.

:(

Tonight we watched the last two episodes of season one LOST IN SPACE.  While we have a few issues with it we will be watching season two.  Ex kept for one person we like the cast, especially the kids.  The boy who plays Will is excellent.

Well, I must be off.  I was just going to go home, but my sister told me that the Big Tom's Burgers on the eastside of Olympia is having a Pride fundraiser!  They're donating a certain percentage of all their sales today to (I think she said) the Olympia Pride Foundation!  So, I'm off to Big Tom's for some Pride-supporting food! ;D I told my friend Margo about it and she wants me to pick up a burger and a shake for her, too.

Be back later!

Well, the burgers that Margo and I got at Big Tom's (https://eastsidebigtoms.com) were pretty good.  Margo got a Deluxe Cheeseburger and I got a Raptor Burger.

The burger's not on their menu, but they list a Raptor Pizza which has "locally made spicy WOW sauce, ghost pepper cheese, jalapenos, bacon, & sausage."

The Raptor Burger has the same toppings except the bacon and sausage.

I haven't.  I think it was either new or a limited edition.

I haven't had either of those, either.  I rarely go to Big Tom's.  Here in Tumwater, there's an Eagan's Drive-In.  I think that they used to be owned by the same Eagans family, but they split off.  Their FB page is https://www.facebook.com/eagans.drivein/ (https://www.facebook.com/eagans.drivein/).

Some spicy foods, but not all.  I don't usually like actual jalapeños, but if they're chopped or mixed in something, I do.
