BK,

Do you have to take the written Driver's License test every time you renew?

It's been well over 10 years since I had to renew a California Driver's License, so I don't recall.

In Texas, if you already have a license from another state, all they do is give you an eye test.

However, I wonder if next time, when I'll be over 80, if they will require more.

 :-\ :-\ :-\

In any event, good luck on the test.

Druxy, no.  I haven't had to take a test in twenty years.  But when you turn seventy and you get a renewal notice it's automatic.

I took my last test around 1981 when I got my NY license.  I studied that stupid handbook for weeks, went into the exam feeling unprepared and completely terrified.  I missed one question.

When we moved to New Jersey we were surprised how difficult the test one.  I wanted a pass on all the questions regarding the legal percentages of alcohol.   Really, couldn't I simply state I never drink and drive 😉

Massachusetts was more difficult and we took the test in a room with a group of people and a guard-lol   I did well and didnt miss a single question.

We had a nice patrol.  We ran into the pretty cat owner on the 2nd floor, who praised and petted Annabelle while Annabelle preened and behaved most prettily.

Actually, the 2nd floor has two apartments with cats: the young lady above and a young married couple who are quite nice.  The third floor cats are mine and my neighbors Judy and Mark.  I think there may be a cat on the fourth or fifth floor as well.

The reading went very well and the Q & A was informative and plan to use some of the suggestions. I have very little free time as I am now back at work full time which is very difficult because I don't have long term disability and continue to work on the play which the changes from the reading. They are going out to directors in LA (A Tony winner), NY and Tampa and also to another theater for another workshop in November.

Passing the DMV test vibes for MR BK.  Take a nice picture.

Last August I renewed my license....it can be done once online....then the next time, you have to go in.  I also took all the documents to get the GOLD STAR ID license.

I don't think we have a written test for age 70 and over....I'll find out next time.

DR CHAS SMITH what is the language like in DISASTER THE MUSICAL?

Whenever colorful language is employed, it is most definitely NOT of, say, the South Park or Family Guy variety. For instance, when one character lets some Tourette-style outbursts fly, they're of an almost stilted nature...which is humorous in and of itself. I don't think there are any of the common "heavy duty words of today" employed. I'm not looking at a script and I can't claim to have caught every line clearly, but these are my impressions.

I came home to a horrible smell. The apartment next door to me is being renovated. The painters had told me that you can only buy no-VOC (nontoxic) paint in California these days. Whatever this was, it was NOT nontoxic. The smell pervades my apartment, too. It's really smelly. The management here is so irresponsible. I'd like to see a little karma at work.

Back from what I can only describe as a grueling trip to the DMV.  The last time I had to actually go to a DMV, let alone take a written test, was probably fifteen to twenty years ago.   It's a whole new world and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, especially foreign people.  Having a specific appointment has been rendered kind of meaningless, and thank goodness I got there twenty-five minutes early.  The whole thing took ninety minutes, so you can only imagine what it must be like without an appointment.  I'll go into detail later in the notes, but the bottom line is I passed the test and now have a current and good license.  As you know, I've been taking the five sample tests on the DMV site for days - new ones every day, AND I took a sample test on a different site.  Would you like to know how many questions from those sample tests were on the actual test I took (which one takes on a computer now)?  Two.  I couldn't believe it.  I did get three wrong, which is the most you can err, although you can immdiately take a new test if you fail, like instantly - and they were such stupid and  truly pointless ephemera that I hadn't even looked at in the handbook, including one about what percentage of alcohol you can have and legally drive - um, I don't drink so I don't care.  I can't even remember what the other two were but the answer choices were confusing on both.  And then another hour at the bank doing stuff there, and then finally I treated myself to a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and a side Caesar salad at Jerry's Deli.  I'm so happy I've got all this crapola out of the way.

Oh no. This would make me crazy.  I am very bothered by the smell of paint.  Although right now I would say the smells that bother me the most are: perfume, cigarettes and freshly cut grass.  I have managed to pretty much completely avoid #2.  #1 is not much of an issue as I try to stay away from anyone wearing perfume (although sometimes walking thru stores in the mall can be problematic). But the worst for me this summer is freshly cut grass. For some reason every neighbor feels the need to cut their grass multiple times a week and only when I want to be outside.

We’re back, too!  DR KevinH picked a fabulous place for tonight’s dinner.

There will be photographic evidence.

I do have a nice photo, but this site says it’s too big to post.  Maybe if I put it on Facebook someone can transfer it over here...

I had to resize it a couple of times to get it under the file size limit (I don't know why), but here it is!

That is indeed a great photo!

DR Jennifer, is there anything you do to counteract these noxious odors? I'm using homeopathic Nux Vomica tonight and it does seem to be helping, but there may be other things that just haven't occurred to me.

I got the second Shingrix shot yesterday. The pharmacist told me that the side effects are worse with the second shot. So far, it's better than the first one. I did take a nap, which I never do.

Vibes it continues to be better than the first one.

I have learned covering my nose and, preverably with my clothing vs my hand, greatly reduces my reaction.
