Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written by an American at the computer, and now it is time for you to post until the American cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GRAVITAS!
-
First post after BK.
-
Well, good night.
-
From last night: Tom, the reason I didn't take a whole donut was because a whole donut is almost too much anymore, and there weren't too many left, and I had it not too long after I got to work.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all!
-
I actually slept rather well last night. I think the Tylenol PM is the best of the various meds I've tried, but I still miss a strong pain med.
-
Today I will spend a couple of hours going through the full score of this Holiday Overture, checking for anything I've botched or overlooked, and cueing the short score. I'm hoping that tomorrow I can send it to London.
-
I need to spend a part of the day assembling my weekly meds and tidying things.
-
Last Sunday, for the first time in years, I listened to Marc Blitzstein's opera Regina, and I liked it much more than I did when I first played the City Opera recording over 20 years ago. I am no fan of conductor John Mauceri, but I suppose at some point I should get his recording with his "improvements." It made me want to reread Hellman's The Little Foxes.
-
DR vixmom, I was wondering how the washer search was progressing. Very good!
-
And now . . . (drum roll) it's time to clean the kitty dishes and the litter.
My life is too exciting.
-
Please keep thoses property selling vibes coming. I'm two months behind in my health insurance.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The cats are taken care of and the bed is made. I want to dig around for my copy of William Mann's book Tinseltown. I've been curious since I started working with Joshie on Mack & Mabel.
-
I have to get ready for work.
-
Yesterday afternoon I dragged out the Big Ladder to put away the various cartons of Fancy Feast that have been piling up on the chest of drawers. I must have been straining my left leg because the pains in my left thigh when I stand or walk means I've pulled something wrong.
-
Good morning, DR JohnG!
-
And that's enough of me this morning.
-
Buenos Dias
-
TCB, I did say good night, I just said it in Spanish
-
I knew housing prices varied wildly throughout the US and that I live in high cost area, but I had no idea that appliance prices also varied so much.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I wonder if I still have any of those Felix Slatkin recordings. I know I have a few of son Leonard’s which I’ve very much enjoyed.
-
I love An American in Paris and will listen to a good “raw” performance any old day. Yesterday while driving to rehearsal, this American heard on the radio one of the most bland and silly renditions of Rhapsody in Blue ever. It was so remarkably undeserving of preservation that I stuck it out to the end just to hear the names of soloist and conductor. I was relieved to recognize neither.
Nothing unusual about that, of course. Just a sadly typical moment in the state of radio programming nowadays. I’ve often wondered how a radio station curated by Yrs Truly would go over, if indeed it would go over at all. Of course that’s the same thing I always wondered about a repertory movie theater, should I win the right kind of lottery.
-
Breakfast break!
-
I had some light allergy irritation on my drive back from Ohio. Yesterday it was worse, so I took a Benadryl last night and slept remarkably soundly. Even better, I’m fairly well dried up, and what a huge relief that is. Now I need to find a little energy to compensate for the effects of the Benadryl, but that’s a problem I don’t so much mind having.
-
I have fallen in love with his dog. If I weren't in the shape I'm in, I'd run to Brooklyn and adopt her!

Breakfast break!
Yes! That’s the ticket.
I don’t have much here, but I shall have a bit of this coffee cake and a couple of eggs.
And more coffee!
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
And back to work!
-
From last night: Tom, the reason I didn't take a whole donut was because a whole donut is almost too much anymore, and there weren't too many left, and I had it not too long after I got to work.
Good for you eating less.
-
DR Vixmom I don't think much of those pizza chains. At one time I boycotted Dominos because of groups that the owner of the company donated to.
-
DR Vixmom your new washing machine looks nice.
-
Stumble through vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
My new 2020 I Love Lucy calendar arrived today - I also have my desk blotter calendar. I am ready for the New Year.
-
It sounds like DR VIXMOM went to Menard's first......
-
I have a Roper washer and a Whirlpool dryer - both purchased in 2017.
-
I am a cretin and a hillbilly - I have never been to a classical music presentation.....
-
Congrats on finishing the overture DR ELMORE.
Continued Property Sale Vibes.....hopefully we will see some action this week.

Tuesday morning greetings from my new (to me) desk! I found just the thing at a consignment store in Centerville (Dayton 'burb) and we picked it up yesterday. It stayed in Richard's car overnight until Rob came after work this morning to help move it. Now I have to put my Momcave back together.
-
To make room for my new desk, I had to give up the recliner in my Momcave. It's now up for grabs to anyone who 1) can use it, and 2) can pick it up at our home. It's one heavy sucker, so moving it will require some muscle. Rob and Mary Linda have declined, as have our 3 local nieces.

I am waiting for my new cat calendars. The kitten on my current daily Cat Naps calendar looks a lot like DR Laura's new kitten.

OK, now I have to make myself presentable and bundle up for our 2pm walking tour of the local historic cemetery with the genealogist from our public library - bye for now!
-
That sounds interesting.
-
The overture has been frozen. I found spots where I forgot to write several bars for the tuba, the drums, etc. I think it looks pretty good now.

Thank you for both, DR JRand69. It would be nice to sell that white elephant soon.

I'd love to have it, but what I really need is a new chest of drawers. My Amazon do-it-yourself model lasted only a couple of years before it started to fall apart. Now it's a total embarrassment.

YAY!!!
I presume it's in your hand, and not Finale?
DR Elmore writes (and I'm referring to his manuscript skills here) beautiful music notation!

I'm up, I'm up - a little over eight hours of sleep.
-
ChasSmith, I wonder if it's the same Rhapsody I played last night - on Naxos. The most amateur, awful Rhapsody I've ever heard, almost like they didn't know what they were playing. I bought the cheap CD for the other works, but how they had the chutzpah to include this - something called the Hot Springs Festival Symphony Orchestra. Hard to know if they and the conductor are as bad in the other pieces, since those are not frequently, if ever, recorded.

Ditto, and for everyone else suffering from them.

This is the new daily calendar I ordered. I keep it in the bathroom and put notes in it for upcoming appointment and other reminders.

This is the wall calendar I purchased. The cats change each month. I only write in birthdays & anniversaries. I hang it in the laundry room.

Nice calendars DR JANE!

HA! MR BK's story reminds me of a favorite headline:
NEWLYWEDS LEAVE DAVENPORT FOR HOT SPRINGS
-
I don't know that store DR VIXMOM.....but it sounds like the kind of deal they offered me a Menard's.
-
We need photographic evidence of the new desk.
Also DR GINNY if no one wants the recliner - set it at the end of driveway if you can....it will be gone in an hour or so.
-
Nice calendars DR JANE!
Thank you. They arrived in the mail today.
-
We are waiting for the fire alarm inspections to begin in our building, soon we hope. They have already notified us of a half hour delay. Unfortunately our building is the last one on the schedule.

Today we took the baby to the zoo. He had his first ride on a carousel.

He didn't crack a smile while on it. I guess he was quite confused.

Hello, everyone.
-
CONGRATS to John G!

Vixmom has once again confirmed her position as Bargain Queen of HHW!
(Admittedly, DR George often rivals her for that position.)
Congrats on the new washer! May it give you many years of good service!

I took today as a sort of Me Day. I just needed some time off. Plus, it's in the high 80s here. Ugh. I drove over to Whole Foods Market for some take-out for lunch and dinner. I'm quite happy with that. The to-do list can wait a day.
-
I may also take a nap.

Yesterday's TOD:
Vixmom grew up in NY, eating pizza. I grew up in LA, eating Mexican food. I think I first had pizza in college. It wasn't something my parents ate.
-
There was a restaurant in Alexandria, VA called Generous George's. It served pizza and pasta. BIG servings. The place was always busy--packed, in fact. I liked their pizza, probably because it had a thick crust. One of their pasta dishes was served on top of a pizza crust.
I was SHOCKED to learn that they went out of business. It was the Financial Crisis and recession that did it. I think that was, for me, the biggest shock of all the businesses that went under during those years.

I am shocked and sorry you didn't go to La Barbara's.

Yes, our Mexican food was wonderful. When we moved to N.J. there were plenty of Pizza places and not a single Mexican restaurant. We were unimpressed with the pizza though the locals all thought it was very good.

Just finished watching the director's cut of The Creature on the check disc - the blow-up itself looks pretty much as the 4x3 did, so that's great news. However, something went wrong somewhere because the image is now jerky and stuttering on every moving shot or when any actor moves. Not sure why that's happened as the test I saw was fine. So, they'll have to fix that and if, for some reason, they can't then we have to go with the 4x3. The encoding looks very good, though. So, here's hoping that something went wrong and that a new pass will fix.

I didn’t have my first Mexican food until I was in college...if you consider Taco Bell Mexican.
The franchise didn’t get to Long Island until the 70’s

And now, it's 6:11 on the left coast!
-
We rushed out for a quick walk after finding out they weren't coming. We returned just as it was getting dark.
-
We needed the walk as instead of exercising this morning we went to the dermatologist for our yearly torture. Well, Keith's yearly & my 6 months.
-
We were both sprayed excessively & I had 2 biopsies done. In spite of the biopsies the doctor said I didn't have to return for a year. I am hoping that timeline will not change after the results come in. It has happened a few times over the years.
-
Well, I need to be going. My friend Margo and I are going to see the Downton Abbey movie. Neither of us has seen the TV show, so it'll be interesting to see if the story is very dependent on TV knowledge. We'll see.
Be back later.
-
Thank you, all.
-
Watching the last of Blonde Venus. Didn't realize it was giong to be this melodramatic. It's good, but it's also a little depressing.
-
It’s been a big day.
-
And now it’s time for sleep.
-
Good night, all.
-
Stumble-through went surprisingly well, really - pretty amazing. It's really fun, pace is great, and the company just has to drill their lyrics. Actually, it took until halfway through act one for someone to flub, and then everyone caught the flub bug. But we ran stuff and we should be ready.

That's great Bruce 😊

I forgot to mention that I signed back up for Safeway’s grocery delivery.
-
They now offer an unlimited delivery service for only $99.00 a year, if you sign up for the year. That works out to around $8.35 a month, for as many deliveries as you need. The only stipulation is that your order must total $30.00 or more.

I'm home. It turns out that Margo has seen some of the early seasons, so she knew more about the characters.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
That is really a great deal. Hell, $30.00 is a can of tuna, a loaf of bread, and maybe a jar of mayo.
-
I know that there is a lot of background info on the characters that I don't know about, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was a really good feel-good movie.
