To answer your question, Vixmom, I like hot chili, but I made it medium yesterday. I only used ground beef and pork, onion, garlic, tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper and a few other spices to make it richer.
I like the Cincinnati chili style of building the chili afterwards, so you can add beans, cheese or a starch (pasta, rice, corn chips) and raw onion if you want.

Laundry is finished. While I was in the laundry room, I had a major panic attack. I am quite worried for Thatch. Before I can address his gingivitis and dental work, which I cannot afford at the moment, I must deal with his echocardiogram, which is way out of my current budget. So I'm terrified I'm killing him. The money I'm making from these two orchestrations will pay the property taxes for the first half of 2020.
Will that damned property ever sell and free me from this financial bondage?

Why would anyone walk out of NOISES OFF?
We had friends that didn't actually walk out of the show. Before their visit to us in Ashland we all picked a play for us to go to. We had seen Noises Off & were looking forward to going. After the nonrefundable tickets were purchased, and not until our guests arrived, did they tell us they had forgotten they saw the show in NY and hated it. Not only did they waste our money but we didn't get to see it again. >:(

If it was there way back when we lived in Pennsylvania I guess I didn't know about it. We did a lot of outdoor water parks. Sesame Place near us had some fun water slides.

I am wondering if having the expensive echocardiogram is necessary, desirable yes, but maybe not absolutely necessary. If I recall correctly Thatch hasn't shown symptoms of a heart problem aside from the murmur.

I posted this after the first echocardiogram on Jan. 25, 2018:
Thatch and I have returned from the vet and we've learned the results of his his echocardiogram: a problem with the muscle controlling the left ventricle of his heart, which is already too thick and will continue to affect his blood flow. He will be on a daily medication for the remainder of his life to slow the heart rate to slow down the muscle's thickening, eventually closing down the ventricle.
I have no idea what this means for his mortality or its longevity, but a part of me died today. I will love him, care for him, and pray to God that he has a long and healthy life.
His disease is Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy, and he needs an echocardiogram yearly to check its progress.

Last night I remembered something that I won’t tell Tracy. One of the other actresses that auditioned last night (who I have worked and is very talented) is the director’s best friend!

What time do the Oscars actually start. I stopped at Green Apple Bistro for some takeout - I've enjoyed several meals there. I got orange chicken (extra crispy) and cashew chicken. The latter was inedible and the former was not only not extra crispy it was barely cooked at all - quite a bit of wasted money and I now have to go get something I can actually eat.

Thanks for repeating this. I gather then that the sound of the heart murmur doesn't tell much about the progress.
I understand wanting to do a yearly echocardiogram to check his progress, however, as they are extremely expensive I would have questions before doing this. I know you are concerned/fear you are killing him by not getting this done. If his condition has gotten worse, though it might not have as he isn't symptomatic, is there something they can do about it? Would the current medication change? Is the stress of doing the test, which can stress the heart, worth the outcome?
Please indulge my questions. In my 53 years of having multiple pets, as you are experiencing, knowing what is best for them is often a difficult to make may it be financial or for other reasons. The truly biggest regrets I have are from when I permitted treatments that turned out to be unnecessary and painful to the pet. Sometimes you just don't know like when we agreed to major dental work for Sherlock and then he got cancer. That I don't regret as there was no way to know. Oh, but the many we did out of fear & guilt :(
We learned to think about what the vet was suggesting, thinking of it as if money wasn't an option even if it was, and then looking at the value of what tests or treatment were suggested.
I am not saying this isn't needed, just that I that maybe it isn't as urgent as you think and to give yourself a break. My advice stands for all future medical care decisions, not just this one. We stress & worry about them and it weighs down our hearts.

Ummm no. Try boiling water in the pan with baking soda.
I read a story where they tried 16 methods of cleaning baked-on grease. Ketchup was the most effective, then baking soda, salt and vinegar together. Baking soda by itself or with boiling water were not as effective. I've got lots of old pans to clean.

Joy is moving to a new house, and she's dumping a lot of mis en place pans from her restaurant. They're metal, in good shape, but just a little, well, used or well-used. I can get good use out of them, but I have to clean them first. I'm actually thinking of buying ketchup tomorrow. Apparently the acid in the tomato juice is what causes it to work.

Late this afternoon we heard a noise like dishes falling

Then vixdad noticed that the kitchen cabinet above the refrigerator had come away from the wall

Because of its location, I use it for storage of items I don’t use often and had to go up on the step ladder to empty everything out

Fortunately nothing was broken

Then vixdad went up on the stepladder to get the cabinet down and the step ladder broke
-
So after we put ice on his ankle and ascertained he hadn’t done any permanent damage I had to go to Home Depot and buy a new ladder

Then vixdad got the cabinet down and saw what needed to be done to repair it
-
The back, which held it to the wall was just very thin plywood
-
Oh, my goodness, Vixmom!

So off he went to Home Depot to get some better wood
-
Meanwhile I had a shelving unit I was going to put together for storage in the basement so I did that so I could relocate the heavy glassware that was in the cabinet

Then vixdad came home with the wood and cut it to fit and now it’s been nailed and glued and is sitting in clamps setting
-
Meantime I was relocating stuff in the basement
-
Then we had to clean up all the messes we made fixing things
-
Finally I was after 9 and I made dinner

That’s been cleaned up now and I am off to bed

It turns out that Orson Bean was actually hit by two cars! :o
L.A. police told The Hollywood Reporter a pedestrian in his 90s was walking eastbound in the area of Venice Boulevard and Shell Avenue at 7:35 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle.
A second driver then struck him in what police say was the fatal collision, and both drivers remained on the scene, L.A. Police Department Capt. Brian Wendling initially told local stations, which identified Bean based on eyewitness accounts.
