Finished watching SHIP OF FOOLS last night, and enjoyed it. There certainly are scenes that could use some trimming, but I was pretty well engrossed by the proceedings. I want to do some reading up on it, then return to it for a good straight through viewing.
99 degrees?? Did you move again and not tell me?
It was a beautiful day today, but I live in Washington State, so it was 80 degrees and not 99 degrees.

Never a fan of the film.
However, one day when they were filming, a friend who worked at Columbia got me onto the set and everybody (Vivien Leigh, Simone Signoret, Lee Marvin, George Seagal, etal) was working that day. Not only that: watching them film was Spencer Tracy.
Quite a thrill for a young guy who'd just moved to Hollywood a 4-5 months earlier.
DR JANE I didn't mind the kids yelling yesterday. And I did make a discovery yesterday.
I had been complaining about the little girl down the street screaming at the top of her lungs.....I was blaming the wrong person.
The screamer is the eight year old blond boy who plays basketball very well - I have never seen him miss a shot....but he sure can scream! LOL.....

How are you getting to the hospital, Elmore?
And once you leave the hospital? You might need help returning home.

I will call a car service.
And once you leave the hospital? You might need help returning home.
I'll get a taxi. There's bound to be one at the hospital.
A delicious quote from Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand. The country club Decked out for a party looked “like a blowzy dowager on a cheap holiday in Tenerife.”
And now, I'm off to bed. I have some mini-cheesecakes to bake in the morning.
Have a good day, all!
I hope they taste good. :-/

George I like your new t-shirt.
DRs - what doe you use to clean the inside of your oven window?
I am practicing my VixTyping©.
I have to stay close to home today. At some point Lenox Hill Hospital will call with info on Monday's check-in, and the UPS delivery of Amazon Pantry items that was supposed to arrive yesterday - and did not - is supposed to arrive today.
George I like your new t-shirt.
Thanks, Jane! So do I! I'm wearing it right now.
I just added BK's Simply to Goodreads:

The ones underneath are regular plain, and the ones on top have a chocolate crust with chocolate cookie bits mixed into the batter.

I never heard of using deer for cleaning purposes.

I went to acupuncture today, then stopped for a veggie burger. The two employees remaining at the burger joint were so happy to see a regular! They're starved for social contact. The manager there is a friend and I asked her about the reopening. She said they're waiting for the governor's OK, plus the County of LA, the City of LA, and the City of Santa Monica (they're in Santa Monica, but only by a few blocks) all get involved. It's anything but straightforward. She's very concerned because some people won't wear masks and it puts her in an awkward position.

You must have been very glad you stopped in.That is a lot of departments to be heard from. I thought I read today that LA received the go ahead to open restaurants.
I can imagine the owner wants to be sure to follow all of the requirements. Did she discuss with you what precautions have been taken?

It's not straightforward at all. They will have reduced seating, of course, and perhaps other regulations. All of the guidance I'd heard has been very general and vague.
As much as I like eating out, I am not anxious to dine in anytime soon. Take-out is fine; I never stopped doing that.

No, her concerns were over the health of the staff and customers. One delivery driver arrived without a mask. She didn't want to give him the order because she felt it might put the recipient at risk. People are very on edge these days and tempers flare.
Have a good weekend, everyone.

I am waiting to hear when my library will re-open. But I really don't want to go inside. So i am hoping that they will do curbside pickup only.

Went to Jerry's Deli and got four slices of lox, came home, and had to bagels with lox and cream cheese - very good!
I read yesterday that there was supposed to be an announcement today about restaurants opening for dine in service again. Did that not happen?
And now, I'm off to my parents' house for lasagna, mini-cheesecakes, and Phase 10.
Be back later!
Getting some mail vibes for MR BK.
Have fun DR GEORGE.

Yep, as of today restaurants can reopen for dine-in service, having to observe certain rules. I'm thrilled about it and will happily be a guinea pig. I do think it will take a week or two for all the restaurants to gear up, make their staff aware of the rules, figure out their seating, and the sanitary stuff.
I think I'm going to watch Avenue Q tonight. I have never seen the show.
So, in answer to yesterday's TOD, I can say Avenue Q. I loved it. I had avoided the show for no reasons other than the cast album wasn't all that overwhelming and I loathed Book of Mormon. But Avenue Q was exactly what it set out to be. It had purpose, and it handled it with a tone that worked throughout. Plus, those songs worked very well in context. The production in the video was out of some theater in Utah, and it was charming, never dragged. And, yes, I laughed heartily at the "Trump -- for now" lyric at the end.

They do look good, but actually the chocolate ones really weren't chocolatey, at all. They were okay, but I'm sure that if I used Oreos, they would've been much better. The plain ones were the hit.

I found out that Eagan's here in Tumwater (one of my favorite local burger joints) has opened for dine-in seating. I don't know what rules they have to follow, though. I'll fine out the next time I go. It will be soon!
And now, it's time to clean up cat vomit...and poop. :o

Great shirt, George.
Just watched the press reel from She Loves Me, which I'd never seen before. I saw the show after it moved to Broadway, the version that BK recorded. Judy's replacement, Diane Frat-something, was just nowhere near as touching or as vocally resplendent, as the video makes clear. But, boy, did I ever like Boyd Gaines, Howard McGillan and Sally Mayes.
They are rioting in Seattle and Portland.
It looks like Seattle’s Cinerama theater may never reopen.
