Well, you've read the notes, the notes just left it at that, and now it is time for you to post until the just leave it at that cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PALMY!
-
And the strongest and most excellent vibes and xylophones for elmore's surgery.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Around 5:45 the cats started pestering me, so I got up. I wanted to read all my notes on the pre-surgery prep, which begins at 8:00, and most of my morning after that will be spent in the bathroom.
-
This afternoon I hope to have a meeting with Judy, give her my mail box key, show her where all the cat food, plastic bags for the litter, and carriers can be found. I've authorized my credit card on file at City Vet for her use if any of the cats has an emergency in the next few days.
-
I slept rather well last night. Thatch and Stella stayed with me. I had dreams, but I remember none of them now.
-
Good morning.
-
There was rioting in Phoenix the last couple days. Also, looting the mall in Scottsdale last night.
-
Tomorrow is Freedom Day, but since my daughter has to work, we will celebrate today.
-
Last day of May!
-
Nine out of ten top Hollywood stars use PALMY shampoo.
-
DR JANE I don't think I've seen that Sally Field performance all the way through.....but from what I remember, she does a lot of same shot changing, too.......
-
Protests turned to vandalism two nights in a row in Indy.
Former DR AMY in Atlanta posted a scary personal story on her Facebook page.....
-
DR TCB I was talking about the movie The Red Shoes that I was watching at the time......
-
Good morning, all.
-
Waiting for 10 am eastern when C-Span will resume coverage of the docking at the space station.
-
It was great to watch the launch yesterday, probably the first I’d seen since the first couple of Shuttle launchings.
-
Wishing DR Elmore the very best in prep day today, and the very best in surgery and recovery tomorrow.
-
Good morning!
-
Lots of vibes for DR elmore.

You sound, not surprisingly, very organized.

I've got to keep three cats happy while I'm away!

I'm now on my second dose of Surprep, but I have managed to accomplish some things when I'm not in the bathroom. I'm taking very little with me to Lenox Hill, but I have my clothes ready, a couple of books, and I've begun a list of what else to pack. When all this Surprep mess is over, I'll assemble my daily meds for the trip.
-
Annabelle knows something's up. She's been very clingy and affectionate this morning.
-
Thatch is his usual "love me but don't get too close or you'll scare me" self. He loves to climb on my work table, lie on my score, play with me and be petted, but if I make any move toward holding him, he runs.
-
Stella's doing her usual "let's play rough and bite and scratch" games with Annabelle and Thatch. She's tried with me, but I don't play that game if I can help it.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Two!

Elmore, if you’re taking your phone, don’t forget everything that you use with it, adapter, ear buds, etc.
-
It’s where I usually forget something.
-
Elmore, if you’re taking your phone, don’t forget everything that you use with it, adapter, ear buds, etc.
I'm taking the phone and its charger but I hope no one calls me!
-
I figure I'll be out of this surgery prep by noon. I just left my food delivery with Judy and Mark , since I can't use it, and confirmed I'll see her around 1:00.
-
I have a dreadful headache.
-
DR Ginny, as you get updates from Josh, can you post them on my Facebook Timeline? I would really appreciate that.
-
After this surgery prep is officially over and I've visited with Judy, I will call Randy and Jo and check in with them.
-
Sounds like you're right on schedule DR ELMORE!
-
It's a beautiful day here weather wise....I may spend some time sitting on the porch in my rocker.
My Gerber daisy has four lovely sunset flowers.
-
I shall be watching the Spay Sex docking myself.
-
Surgery vibes for DR Elmore~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Bob & Doug are packing stuff up.....interesting to watch.
I was disappointed yesterday when the main rocket returned yesterday to land on the drone pad - CSPAN had a break in communication and we didn't get to see that.....we saw the pad....black screen....and then the rocket was on the pad.
It was like a Samantha Stephens moment.

turn the ringer off. Don't let it beep when texts come in, either. I find that kind of thing stresses me out.
-
I was watching SEX KITTENS GO TO COLLEGE.....starring Mamie Van Doren as a genius who is brought in to head the Science Department of a University. The students include Tuesday Weld, WooWoo Grabowski, and Mijanou Bardot (Brigitte's sister).
Van Doren's character is Mathilda West and she refers to herself as Ma-THilda when she is dictating letters, but all of the other characters call her Matilda....which really doesn't matter because she is actually a stripper named Tassals Monclair.

Give yourself permission to take the time you need to heal. Don't worry about the world out there, who you think you have to call or who is calling you. I wouldn't watch the news either. Then again, I didn't use the TV in my room the last three times I was in the hospital. The staff thought I was weird. Let them.
These are all things that have mattered to me when I was in the hospital. Use it if it fits you.
-
Last night, we watched the third chapter of GRANT, an excellent mini-series.
Then, I watched ABBOTT AND COSTELLO GO TO MARS, which is probably one of their worst films.
The last time I saw it was when it first came out (1953?). I'd forgotten what a turkey it was.

DR elmore,

I attempted to post that at 12:40 this morning but couldn't do it on my tablet.
-
Elmore, if you’re taking your phone, don’t forget everything that you use with it, adapter, ear buds, etc.
Especially the charger ;)
-
DR elmore, while I agree you should take your meds with you have they said you can actually control taking your own meds? Usually they prescribe and distributed them. I did have an exception when the hospital didn't carry one of my medications.

Hopefully not. You might receive texts or messenger.

Ginny, I started listening to The Giver of Stars and after 16 whole minutes, I find it too much like the Book Woman of Troublesome Creek to want to continue. You said it was the lesser of the two books, but would you suggest I just move on?
-
I've seen a lot of articles on a new documentary called Laurel Canyon, and all I can think about is the song from L.A., Now and Then.
-
I made some cheeseburgers for my meals today and tomorrow.
-
PBS is having a Downton Abbey marathon of all six seasons. I can't look away. I'm also waiting for Judy to show up.
-
Ginny, I started listening to The Giver of Stars and after 16 whole minutes, I find it too much like the Book Woman of Troublesome Creek to want to continue. You said it was the lesser of the two books, but would you suggest I just move on?
They are very much alike, yet different. I suggest moving on if it doesn't have your attention & read it in the long future. I intentionally read them close to each other to compare. I might have preferred the writing style of Giver, and a few other parts about it. I believe Ginny preferred the writing of Creek.
I wonder how I would have felt if I read Creek first, which had been my intention until my book group intervened.
-
DR elmore, while I agree you should take your meds with you have they said you can actually control taking your own meds? Usually they prescribe and distributed them. I did have an exception when the hospital didn't carry one of my medications.
I have meds I take daily, and I see no reason why I should not be taking them in hospital. I know what not to take for the past two days and tomorrow, but after surgery, I'll go back to them unless they tell me not to.
-
I am not doubting your ability to take your own medications. Good luck they will let you as they like to be in control at the hospital.
-
Sending Elmore vibes and prayers and love and hugs
-
What annoyed me the most about having to rely on the hospital to get my medications, is that they did not give me my thyroid medication at the appropriate time. You are not supposed to eat for an hour after taking it, yet my breakfast was served 20 minutes prior to my Synthroid.
-
DR George I see that Olympia had a peaceful protest.

I have my office calls forwarded to an office cell phone while I'm working at home. When I decide the office is closed, I mute the phone. It works. If people call, you can get the messages later
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! Fr. Richard conducted a nice Pentecost service on Zoom this morning for the church in Beavercreek. We've had our traditional after church brunch of fried egg sandwiches and bacon.
-
DR Ginny, as you get updates from Josh, can you post them on my Facebook Timeline? I would really appreciate that.
I'll do my best, DR Elmore! I will relay Josh's messages here and on Facebook. Richard and I send you all our best for an uneventful procedure and a smooth recovery :-*
-
I am not doubting your ability to take your own medications. Good luck they will let you as they like to be in control at the hospital.
They told me not to bring my meds with me for the last surgery. I guess the metformin didn't agree with the anesthesia or something. Given how bad the food was, my blood sugar was actually normal then.

I thought Troublesome Creek had a truer ring to it and, of the 2 books, was the one that made me want a sequel. DR Jane's advice to "move on if it doesn't have your attention" applies to most any book, in my opinion.

I think waiting is a good idea. I won't be forced to compare the two all the time.

I went ahead and started another book I've been wanting to read for a while now: Girl, Woman, Other, which won the Man Booker this past year along with Margaret Atwood's The Testaments.
-
Now I'm going out on the front porch to read my current book: Geraldine Brooks' Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague. Who's read that one?

Waiting for it at the library/OverDrive. I think it's due in a week.

Good book DR Ginny.

Surgery vibes for DR Elmore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

Starting The Comedy of Errors.
The Boys from Syracuse is better!
-
I just watched a touching news story of all the volunteers helping to clean up the mess in Seattle. Tons, and tons of glass :(
-
Starting The Comedy of Errors.
The Boys from Syracuse is better!
It is. But then again, Boys of Syracuse doesn’t use a single line of Shakespeare. But it was the last show (outside of Henry VIII) of Shakespeare’s that I hadn’t seen. So, I had to watch it once.
-
The “peaceful event” to honor George Floyd that was planned for downtown yesterday was indeed peaceful. But things got out of control after a splinter group moved blocks away and got into a fight with armed locals supporting the Alamo (which had been graffitied this week). So, we have a curfew here. And on it goes.

Actually, it does use one line of Shakespeare's play!

I've decided, between DRs Jane's and JohnG's comments, to leave my meds at home.
-
Decided to try the carbonara from the Cheesecake Factory - way too rich for the likes of me, so didn't finish it. But the big problem was the container had come loose and the cream sauce was everywhere - I got most of the food out intact but what a mess - it was all over the bag, the utensils, and the bread. Gross.

I am surprised you haven't been told anything about that. Did you double check your paper work? Certainly leave pain meds but other prescriptions, take a few days just in case your hospital is different.

Messy. I would toss leftovers into a salad tomorrow.

We were going to order Thai food for dinner tomorrow night. Now we are thinking pizza instead.

My life story is subtitled The Comedy of Errors.
-
I saw Lorenz Hart's brother Teddy in a movie on TCM this week - A GIRL IN EVERY PORT.
He played a small time gangster - named Happy - and he was very funny.

Teddy and Dorothy Hart moved to Los Angeles after Lorenz Hart's death. The Harts claimed, and I do not doubt it, that Richard Rodgers had him blacklisted from working in New York.

I've had my bath, the cats had their treat, and I have a few bits and pieces to take care of tonight. I have to be up till 11:00 for my last round of antibiotics, so I may just stay up all night. I need to start moving around 4:00 to be out of here at 5.

Yeah, and I don't even think it was from Comedy of Errors. I'll have to dig up my DVD of the show.

Watching an AIDS fundraiser from 1987. The original Australian cast of Les Miz did an evening of Sondheim songs. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to the songs selected or the order, and it doesn't matter. June Bronhill is supposedly a guest star, but she hasn't been on in the first half-hour. And now, at the first half hour, is the first song with a tune by someone other than Sondheim. It's Somewhere.
Video quality is horrible, but the sound is good.

Gratuitous post No. 100.

DR ELMORE I do not doubt that one bit - but that's sad.
What was the joke? When Rodgers was writing with Hart, people would say: "Look out for the tall guy, he's a bastard."
And then when he started writing with Hammerstein II, people would say: "The short guy is a bastard."
I'm still astonished that Josh Logan let him get away with taking away his royalties for South Pacific - I guess it was "no money if you want to keep the writing credit".....I heard.
-
Indianapolis/Marion County is under a curfew from 8 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.
No traffic allowed into town. Folks were given warnings....go home....second warning.....handcuffs....
-
The Indiana Repertory Theatre - which started life as a Paramount Publix Movie House in downtown Indy very close to the Circle had its front windows broken out last night.....I can't post the second picture because of NSFW graffitti scrawled on the Box Office and poster frames....

And people were outraged when Sondheim said Rodgers was a man of infinite talent and limited soul.
-
Very sad photo, JRand.
-
June Bronhill shows up about 14 minutes into the second half of this Sondheim show to give a really beautiful rendition of One Last Kiss. Almost from the beginning, the goosebumps started. It appears that she may have had a stroke, but no matter. Her vocal is clear and lovely. As is true to the song, it may not be as broad and youthful as the younger Heidi, but I would rather hear Bronhill.

I think I'm going to go soak my aching back. Tonight's thunderstorm is rolling in.
-
Hope the soak works
-
We are watching THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS
-
And eating pop corn.
-
Now they've lit the St John's Episcopal Church across Lafayette Square from the White House, on fire and the fire trucks can't get there so far. It was built in 1816. These people are sick bastards
-
Hello, everyone.
-
What a sad day. I woke up wondering how bad the riots were. Even worse, they're not over.
-
It’s a nightmare.
-
Vibes for DR Elmore’s early rising (or all-nighter?) and trip to the hospital tomorrow. Take care of yourself, and here’s to a quick and solid recovery.
-
There was a peaceful demonstration along Ocean Ave. There were also gangs of looters in downtown Santa Monica, smashing windows and looting stores. According to one reporter on the scene, they were two completely separate groups. They smashed my favorite little pharmacy. Why?
-
There have been sirens all day long. A few fires downtown. As if the country didn't have enough problems.
-
MEGA VIBES to Larry for a smooth, successful surgery tomorrow and a comfortable recovery.
-
Vibes for John G's back. And the backs of all DRs for that matter.
-
I was surprised to learn of demonstrations in London and at least one protestor in Germany.
-
Vibes to all for a better week ahead, cooler heads and calmer conduct.
-
Good night.
-
Vibes for Elmore~~~~~
-
Thank y'all. I think the soak helped. At least for now.
-
I think everyone realizes now that there are two separate groups. Interestingly, even CNN said it was the anarchists causing the problems.
-
I'm now listening to Bernstein's last concert, which I actually attended. He conducted Beethoven's 7th, which I love.
-
These white supremacist peckerheads and the Russians have been waiting for this day and now they do their thing and get away with it. The National Guard is here - they see what's happening and I don't see them taking down the people who are doing this, all outsiders, I don't see arrests and tear gas being lobbed at THEM. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/russian-documents-reveal-desire-sow-racial-discord-violence-u-s-n1008051

Good evening.
-
Another wonderful Freedom Day (observed).
-
We went for a drive up to the mountains, but it was so crowded that there was no place to park the car. So we drove back to Payson to a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican food place and ordered chilaquiles. We ate in the car.
-
This little place burned down last summer and was able to relocate a few doors down. I am happy to see that the locals are supporting the restaurant.
-
Then we came home and watched the last Star Wars movie. This was certainly an exercise in patience for my daughter. We had to keep stopping the movie while she explained what was happening.
-
Luckily I saw on the innerwebs that our governor has issued a curfew -- 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. So I was able to get her home and get back before 8 p.m. I would not look good in orange. Especially with this covid haircut I am sporting these days.
-
I send many warm wishes and vibes for DR Elmore tomorrow.

DR George I see that Olympia had a peaceful protest.
That's good! This is the first time I've turned on my computer, so I have no idea what's been going on at all. :)
-
Hi, Cillaliz.
-
Cilla, this isn't part of the Antifa playbook, it really isn't. That's certainly the narrative that's being fed here, but if you look at the history it's not what they do - what has happened and I'm sure is happening now, is that these supremacist fringe creeps dress like them and say they're them, but they aren't - this has been proven before.
-
Still listening to William Walton and why shouldn't I?
-
Let us hope for a calmer day tomorrow. Perhaps if the police and National Guard didn't stand there while a bunch of white people set fires and loot, perhaps if they actually did their jobs and made arrests things would calm down. I'm told that helicopters are getting license numbers - whether those numbers are real or not is anyone's guess, but all I know is people going to jail for the bad stuff is a good thing and it does tend to curb their enthusiasm.
-
BK, I'm reading Simply on my Kindle and am thoroughly enjoying it! But I did find one little mistake. Even though it's too late to change it for the physical book, do you want to know where it is? It's literally just an extra letter "I" where it shouldn't be.

Take a list of your prescriptions, including the dosage, and they should give you your medications after the surgery.

That was nice.

Hi, Tom.
-
Now they've lit the St John's Episcopal Church across Lafayette Square from the White House, on fire and the fire trucks can't get there so far. It was built in 1816. These people are sick bastards
That's terrible.
-
Then we came home and watched the last Star Wars movie. This was certainly an exercise in patience for my daughter. We had to keep stopping the movie while she explained what was happening.
:))

Vibes for DR Elmore’s early rising (or all-nighter?) and trip to the hospital tomorrow. Take care of yourself, and here’s to a quick and solid recovery.
It's an all-nighter, and it's killing me. I want to sleep so badly.

I gave them that info in my Friday phone call with the hospital.

George, I think I already know - nobody caught it, unfortunately, and we're talking about a lot of proofing. It happens. It's in a name, I think, or a title or something, can't remember.
-
Anyone who would torch a place of worship, well, frankly you don't want to know what I'd suggest happen to them, but it doesn't involve standing there and watching.
-
I was just going thru my Amazon Music for a different Broadway compilation to listen to, as I drift off to LALA LAND.
-
But I'm glad George is enjoying the book thus far and I can't wait for others to get it. George, you can PM me, but I'm pretty sure I know what it is.

I found one interesting one: THE BEST OF CAROL CHANNING.
Strangely the entire collection was blank!

I decided to splurge again tonight for dinner. So, I ordered thru Door Dash. I got the Pot roast dinner. I just had a craving for beef, since i don’t eat it anymore.
-
I ordered from Black Bear Diner. The dinner was wonderful! The meat was super tender and very flavorful. And the carrots and potato’s were very yummy. The whole thing was great.
-
And since I was splurging I also got their chocolate cream pie. I thought I was getting a slice (hopefully large), but instead, it was a whole pie.
-
It wasn’t a large pie, maybe 8 Inches, but, hey, I have pie for tomorrow and the next day.
-
Set a couple of alarms, Lar.

That's pretty cool.

There used to be a
Brown Black Bear Diner on the west side of Olympia, but they closed a couple of years ago.
-
I really liked it, but I just didn't go there very often.

Very good advice!

I really like the one on South Hill. The pie was $5.95, so when I ordered it, I was bitching that it was going to be some skinny-ass piece of pie. Boy, was I wrong.
-
The nearest one to me now is in Lakewood...not to far, if I really want to go. ;)
-
Wait a minute! I am wrong. It is the Black Bear Diner. It is the Brown Bear Carwash.
