Well, you've read the notes, the notes were square and had melon, and now it is time for you to post until the square cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AESTHETIC!
-
Can't wait for the Kritzerland show on Sunday! I'll be home all day!
-
Just finished watching the test video. It was fun and quite informative. :)
-
Today, I'm going back to my parents' to have dinner with the family. We're having a 4-cheese lasagna...it's store-bought, but still good. :) And now, to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a good night of sleep. Again, I remember no dreams, only bits, like something about Bernstein's Candide and something about my friend Chuck Cooper and other singers in a studio or waiting room.
-
And today? Nothing's changed; today is like yesterday and the day before, although I am thinking about working on an orchestration, just to keep myself busy.
-
BLUE DENIM
That was the first play I ever directed. I was 21.
After we lost our leading man two weeks before opening, I stepped in and played the part.
I think the year was 1962. We did it at the Boards Playhouse in West Seattle.
-
Carol Lynley was a dear friend.
She wanted to do my one-woman play, (Carole) LOMBARD, and she even did a staged reading of it one Saturday afternoon at a 99 seat theater in Hollywood. Full house.
Unfortunately, after the reading, we were informed that this was a "pay-for-play" theater, so an actual production never happened.
LOMBARD did get a regular production a couple years later, but Carol was not available.
In fact, LOMBARD has now been successfully produced in theaters all over the country.
I spoke to Carol a couple months before she passed away.
Nice lady.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I only remember parts of a couple of dreams, the content of which were along usual themes but with unusual twists. They’re practically disappearing as I write this, except for the getting separated from whoever I was with in a rambling building one.
-
It was actually a rocky night of sleep, thanks to being awakened by a sneezing fit at two in the morning — and then to lower back pain on waking up in this morning, which hasn’t bothered me in quite a while, and I hadn’t even appreciated that until its return. Hopefully, it’s just a one-night visit.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Nine hours of sleep.

I have never seen Blue Denim on stage or screen. It sounds good. I mean, the original play. I'm sorry to hear they rather botched the transition to screen. Not that that's ever been anything unusual, especially in those days.
Definitely love Carol Lynley, though.
-
I wasn't very good in gym class in school because I wasn't very AESTHETIC.
-
I went out to sit on the porch in my rocking chair (hoo-hah, an Allan Sherman reference) - and forgot the test!
-
TOD:
I think I mentioned my views on Miss Carol Lynley recently here. I don'd understand her acting style in many of her films, but the ones I liked her in mostly make up for it:
Blue Denim (I agree 100% with Mr BK on what he said about the play and the film.....I saw it on TV when I was small and thought Warren Berlinger was great....I have been a fan since then)
The Cardinal
Light In the Forest
The Shuttered Room
Sidney Poitier:
Just about everything up to the 1970's.

In the years we've had a Five Guys nearby, I have both greatly enjoyed and been disappointed in their offerings. They're quite expensive for a burger joint, and that keeps them open to more criticism than they might otherwise receive. And I think that's a problem. They seem to be competing with the likes of Shake Shack -- also expensive, but they serve what I happily call a gourmet burger, what with their remarkable blend of beef and their care in cooking it to order. At least Five Guys gets it right when they say their burgers are well done but juicy.
I prefer to eat right there, when the goods are hot and fresh. What BK observes about the delivery service is what we experience here, even when we're ordering there and driving the stuff right home which is five minutes away. Both the burgers and the fries lose something in the journey.
The fries are a subject all their own, too. By the way, the spillover from the cup is normal. They overload it on purpose. When I'm really famished, I can put away every fry they give me, even in a large order. But they are generally on the soft side, no question. And I never order their or anyone else's "Cajun" or otherwise spicy fries. I'm one of the (apparent) few who find that kind of thing a complete distraction from what good french fries are supposed to be. It's a sore subject with me.
So, a love-hate relationship. We only think to eat from Five Guys once or twice a year, and these are the reasons why.
-
Had a shower. Ready to face the day.
-
I've never tried a Five Guys hot dog. I think, again, that the crazy price has always held me back. Whatever that price is has never made sense to me.

Ate at a Five Guys in San Antonio once. Worst burger experience of my life. The never-frozen meat was rancid. The bun was way too sweet. Never again.

Saturday morning greetings!
And today? Nothing's changed; today is like yesterday and the day before...
My sentiments, exactly, DR Elmore. The novelty has definitely worn off.
-
We did have a nice visit last night with Rob and Mary Linda and Charlotte. It started out as just an audio phone call, because they thought Charlotte was down for the night. When they realized that was not the case, we switched to a video visit via Facebook Messenger and we saw her sweet smile and that she's becoming fascinated with her fingers.
-
And I was on Facebook for BK's test last night! The stories were great. Looking forward to tomorrow's show.
-
Good morning
-
I rarely remember my dreams but one is sticking with me
-
I was directing a show which was being held in the hall of the local Presbyterian church
-
There was a group of adorable kindergarteners who were dressed as munchkins while a young woman from my church (she normally sits in the pew behind me and recently married another boy from our church who is the son of a woman I’ve known since both of us were children) played the GoodWitch
The Vixter was Dorothy but it wasn’t current Vixter, it was the 14 year old Vix.
-
Then suddenly there were rows of pews in the church hall and they were filled with everyone I ever met, people here included
-
Each pew took turns singing some song they had apparently prepared
-
Then I was supposed to sing on my own but I realized I was so busy directing I never prepared a song to sing
-
I was standing there with everyone looking, holding a microphone and the lights went out, a spotlight focused on me, and I woke up
-
I have my own ideas what this means but I can’t wait to hear what Jacks Dreamomatic has to say
-
Especially as it’s 8 days shy of my birthday
-
It also seems I managed to catch sight of a clock every day for the past couple of weeks at exactly 8:16, sometime am, sometimes pm....
-
And my Pandora at work has played this song at least once every day this week
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=onKhceL303M
-
I also had weird dreams last night, including a musical montage that combined "The Tennessee Waltz" with a hymn tune I can't remember at the moment.
-
I've had Stephen Sondheim's "Your Eyes Are Blue" stuck in my head for over a week now.
-
Whenever I get near my bed, Thatch thinks it's time for me to brush him and show him some affection. I continually disappoint him. Stella and Annabelle have taken over my bed today, although I did get in a little nap time with them.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a little over eight hours of sleep.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Loved reading about your dream, DR vixmom!
-
I enjoyed the Krizterland test last night, BK!
-
From DR TCB:
My eye doctor appointment went okay, yesterday
Good.
-
I think it is best to go home after having your eyes dialated.
-
DR TCB how are your eyes doing? Are you maintaining your vision?
-
I do not recall that photo of Fabian ;D
-
DR George has Neve completely stopped sneezing?
-
I only remember parts of a couple of dreams, the content of which were along usual themes but with unusual twists. They’re practically disappearing as I write this, except for the getting separated from whoever I was with in a rambling building one.
Feel better vibes.

Awww. Those video chats are very special, and so hard because we can't touch them.

;D
-
Darn, another singer who's voice is no longer comfortable for me to listen to :(
-
Up from a nap.
-
We watched Monsieur Verdoux earlier. Had never seen it. Very biting.
-
TCM is showing Chaplin all day.
-
One more ....
-
Three!
-
Blue Denim and Carol Lynley's performance has stayed with me since I first watched it. It was interesting to read the changes from the play to the film, which I recall being very sad.
-
We watched Monsieur Verdoux earlier. Had never seen it. Very biting.
I love this movie! Martha Raye is so wonderful as the indestructible Annabelle. I have the Criterion edition, and we watched it recently.
-
Since I have one more week off Facebook, i've been playing on Twitter this afternoon. I listened earlier to the Prologue and Act One of Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty. What a score!
-
I'm thinking about dinner at the moment. Looks like either cheeseburgers or clam chowder. I haven't decided.
-
I am watching LIMELIGHT now - it is probably my favorite Chaplin....although I enjoy Verdoux as well.
-
This really upsets me. I'd love to have a French bulldog.

DR VIXMOM the Dream-O-Matic 6000 indicates that your dream says that you are bored with the everyday things and seek to follow your own plans.
You do not fit in with the worlds of others and want to make your own place - although you welcome others to live there with you.
You enjoy listening to others, although it is sometimes difficult to not intervene when you seeing others going down the wrong path.
The song tells us that you want to be more self involved in the coming year and do more of YOU - and that is very possible - if you learn the right lyrics of the song that belongs especially to you in your heart.

Marshall Harvey dropped by with an Eyetalian sandwich. I ate it and it was great. Not to big, on a baguette I think they call them, rather than all that heavy bread you get at Jersey Mike's. It's not enough food for all day, but I'll figure out something else that's light and fun.
-
Picked up a couple of packages - including a Walmart box containing Assurance disposable washcloths. Only one problem: I didn't order them nor would I ever use such a thing. So, did an online chat, they confirmed it was a mistake and told me to keep or throw out - I'm giving to the nice fellow in the back house.
-
That's been the day so far.
-
Yay, Keith FINALLY got shared google photos to send us notifications when there is a new photo of Freyja. He can only get it to work on his phone but at least it is someplace. I found photos today that had been put up yesterday.
-
A day is too long to wait for photos, especially when one an hour would make us happy ;D

Over 100 people have been banned from ever flying Delta again. Why would anyone get on a plane wearing a mask knowing they could never fly again if they took the mask off during the flight ::) I find it mind boggling. Just drive then.
-
Good afternoon.
-
Today's vegetable box contained LOTS of leafy greens and too many mangoes. I am making mango muffins at the moment.
-
I have a question for George:
Does your sister raise black soldier fly larvae for her chickens?
-

The last time the San Antonio Ballet staged it, they had the symphony perform it live. Sublime.

If you like coconut milk, sticky rice with mango is outrageously good.

No. They have to be drama queens. When really, they’re merely babies.
-
I am watching LIMELIGHT now - it is probably my favorite Chaplin....although I enjoy Verdoux as well.
Mom loved Limelight. I find every moment Buster Keaton is on screen (except for the death tableau) to be funny.
-
Listening to the end of The Book of Eels.
-
We had Blaze Pizza for dinner. I had never tried the chain before. They had a cauliflower crust fir me. I had Italian meatballs, roasted garlic and red peppers while Mom had a regular crust with pineapple and smoked ham. It was perfectly acceptable.
-
Then we turned away from Chaplin to watch the new Muppet Movie, which isn’t so new anymore.
-
Hello, 0 guests!
-
Are you the reason we’re still on page 3?
-
We can fix that.
-
Four!
-
Good night, all.

Today, I'm going back to my parents' to have dinner with the family. We're having a 4-cheese lasagna...it's store-bought, but still good. :) And now, to bed.

Well, I was wrong about the lasagna...it was a FIVE-cheese lasagna!
;)

I lost at Phase 10 again.

Great story, Druxy. That's too bad about her not being able to do your show.

Finished with my viewing.

I saw some of the movie not too long before TCM became part of a new Comcast Sports and Entertainment package last year.
-
I don't have TCM anymore because I didn't want to pay another $10 a month essentially to just get that one channel.
-
Gratuitous Post #100!
-
And why the heck would they put TCM in a package with a bunch of sports channels?? :o

There's a Five Guys on the west side of Olympia. It's been here a few years.
-
Their burgers and fries are pretty good, but they are expensive.
-
And the ambiance of the "restaurant" (store?) is not really conducive to talking with your eating companions (if any), or certainly reading anything.
-
I don't know about any other Five Guys, but this one is very loud and there are just a bunch of tables in the room and peanut shells everywhere.
-
You get free shelled peanuts when you eat there...if you care for that sort of thing.
-
I don't. ::)
-
;D

It also seems I managed to catch sight of a clock every day for the past couple of weeks at exactly 8:16, sometime am, sometimes pm....
That's weird. :-\
-
Sorry I’m late. I was watching the documentary called HOWARD, the story of Howard Ashman.
-
Naturally, I was crying at the end.
-
I thought it was very good.
-
I also watched, SHOW BUSINESS: THE ROAD TO BROADWAY. I enjoyed it very much.
-
I felt that CAROLINE OR CHANGE was kind of given the short straw, as far as the four musicals were shown.
-
DR George has Neve completely stopped sneezing?
Yes. I haven't heard a single sneeze in just about a week. :)
-
Hi, Tom.

I always thought it was weird that Maria keeps shushing Tony, while upstairs Anita, Bernardo, and 40 crazy Puerto Rican’s are dancing up on the roof.
-
I have a question for George:
Does your sister raise black soldier fly larvae for her chickens?
No, she doesn't raise anything like that herself. She buys mealworms for them, but I think that's it.

The other night I had a dream about Larry and me running around this Broadway theatre. I think it was the St. James. Most of the time we were backstage or out back in the alley, but other times we were out in the lobby.
-
I felt that CAROLINE OR CHANGE was kind of given the short straw, as far as the four musicals were shown.
That's too bad.
Probably because it was almost the least successful of the four. But maybe not, TABOO closed early, too.

I remember reading about Rosie O'Donnell investing her own money in TABOO and she lost all of it...all $10,000,000!! :o

Yep, that is what they said.
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, vixmom.

Good night, Tom.

New notes are up.

So, there's that.
