Well, you've read the notes, the notes paid a visit, and now it is time for you to post until the visiting cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LIMERENCE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
And the word of the day is: LIMERENCE!
Was that Liberace’s brother?
-
The Abner in this production of 42ND STREET, looked like ten miles of bad road.
-
BK, I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend, Joanna. My condolences to you and to her family. :(
-
BK, my deepest sympathies on the loss of your friend. It is great that she was such a supportive friend.
-
I do love CARMEN, but I don’t hold the same feeling about CARMEN JONES. It is also one of those guessing game movies, like WEST SIDE STORY. Who is actually singing their own songs?
-
My guess is only Pearl Bailey.
-
The real singers are all listed in the main titles.
-
Listening to Saint-Saens' Requiem - gorgeous.
-
Good morning, all!
-
So sorry about your friend, BK.
-
Condolences on the loss of your friend and supporter, bk.
-
BK, I'm guessing that Prince Igor is the Angel/EMI recording with Boris Christoff? I've been wanting to hear that.
-
And good morning everyone.
-
Despite being logged in all night, I was not actually here.
-
The Kate Royal recital sounds good.
-
DR singdaw, I'm very grateful that you agreed to sing on the Victor Herbert collection. I just listened to "When the Right One Comes along," and it's quite delightful. There is once track on the recording that I wish I could redo because I think I got it totally wrong. I think my favorite track might be Rebecca's "Indian Summer."
-
We're in for more snow tomorrow. I just want it all cleared by Thursday so my getting to that MRI appointment isn't a mess.
-
Back to the Oh, Boy! overture today. Making piano reductions from the full score is tedious.
-
Being in the concert hall at the Academy of Arts and Letters was a special experience in and of itself.
-
Sorry, got sidetracked down a Rebecca Luker YouTube rabbit hole. A stupendous performance of "Unusual Way" from Nine.
-
Good morning, all.

Yes, it is.
-
So sorry about your friend, BK.
-
Who needs Albert Schweitzer when the lights’re low?
-
Just asking.
-
I don’t want to get up.
-
Let’s move on ...
-
Two!
-
Condolences to the family of Joanna and to MR BK on the loss of his long time friend.
-
Dental appt. vibes for DR VIXMOM today.
I would recommend that you get a microwave with at least 1100 watts of power......that's what most food packages list when they are suggesting their cooking times.
We have had many brands - and like DR JANE I usually buy mine because of size.....or sometimes color. Probably the best one we have had has been GE. The worst was Panasonic.
-
Nice reading about the visit of the DD. And congrats to MR BK on his $30!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
I would say opera, but I am learning a lot right here on HHW.
I guess my second choice would be art.
-
I always had standalone microwave ovens, but now it's a built-in above the stove, and when I got that I just went with the brand that the stove was so they'd match.
A couple of years after having that one, something was wonky with the door handle. I forget what, exactly, but we eventually figured out that because it's right over the highest powered burner (it's a gas stove), the heat had gradually screwed up the handle. We chose its replacement (different brand) because its handle wasn't plastic. It's a lightweight metal that might feel warm to the touch now and then but it holds up just fine over that burner.
As for what power it is, or anything else about it, I haven't the slightest idea. :) Maybe I'll pull out the manual and have a look.
-
Found it. Mine's only 1000 watts! We have failed to live up to DR Jrand70's recommendation. Drat!
-

Yes, sounds delightful.
And it's been years since I've won more than two or three bucks. Apparently this is not how the rich get rich.
-
Micro what-age?
-
It's a bit chilly.
-
TOD:I like DR Jrand70's choice.
I would like to learn more about art.
And horses.
-
And not necessarily in that order.
-
Fox "News" has cancelled Lou Dobbs!
And I say: Huzzah.
-
My condolences to BK in the loss of your friend, sending vibes for comfort
-
The dentist decided that the tooth, my last surviving molar on the top left is no longer surviving.
I have been prescribed a course of antibiotics and recommended to have it extracted and replaced with an implant
-
The microwave may have to wait
-
Or be pretty inexpensive
-
We’ve been advised to expect another 5-9 inches of snow tomorrow
-
Fox "News" has cancelled Lou Dobbs!
And I say: Huzzah.
I’ve seen people on the right complaining about “cancel culture”.
-
I wonder if these are the same folks who were advocating for cancelling The View and Ellen and boycotting Disney over “gay days” ...

I only paid attention to high, medium, or low on the packages ;D

:o Ours is over the oven, also Dacor. I don't think I have ever had one over the stove.

Do you have a treadmill in your apartment?

Sorry :(

I am guessing you just want one that sits on the counter? If so you can probably find something inexpensive. I see them at Best Buy.
-
I wonder if these are the same folks who were advocating for cancelling The View and Ellen and boycotting Disney over “gay days” ...
>:(
I had no idea Disney had "gay days". I think it is a great idea.
-
I took a leap this morning. I bought a bike. We'll see where it takes me.
-
My laptop is acting all wonky this morning. Updates and such stuff.
-
Do you have a treadmill in your apartment?
Alas, no. :-X
-
THREE!
-
Anita's got her private little mix, tonight...

That’s probably the wrong name

LOL but I expect the concept is the same.

The one we have is 1200 watts...it’s a GE that was manufactured in November 2013, I assume we bought it shortly thereafter. We bought it. In Sears, which was always our go to for appliances and tools. Unfortunately poor management decisions led to the degrading of their standards and the closure of their stores.

Saturday afternoon greetings! It's ver-r-r-ry cold here in SW Ohio today, but the sun is shining.

BK, I'm very sorry to hear about your friend...

Is Sears available online?

Oh, DR Singdaw - You are always here... like the Phantom of the Opera

Good Morning - the boys and I hung out in bed longer than we should have. They went to camp yesterday instead of Thursday, so they are tired. Hopefully they will chill today. My weekly COVID test came back negative, so that's cool. I got a text saying it's possible we will be heading back in to the church soon (100 people, distanced, masks, etc) and that is really exciting news. Not that we don't love ministering in the chilly and sometimes wet school yard, but it will be nice to start heading back to normal - however long it takes is fine by me. I'm hoping to get the pipe organ fired up as well.

What's not to like about the cold and damp? You could always do what the song says and turn your collar to it.
-
Good afternoon!
-
My condolences on the loss of your friend, BK.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a little over eight hours of sleep.
-
My neighbors Ann and Jen brought me some delicious cheese puffs that Jen made. I shared part of one with Stella, who believes anything I eat must be good for her. Last night she ate part of my Rice Krispie treat, but she's ambivalent about Doritos. She does, however, like taco chips but not guacamole.
-
I'm greatly enjoying getting reacquainted with Albert Herring via this other recording. Really nice.

Today we're celebrating Kristi's 50th birthday -- which is actually yesterday, but she did a big online thing with friends last night, and our own little par-tay here is this evening. For dinner we're ordering Texas Roadhouse.
-
Nathan's 50th, by the way, is in two weeks. And thus our annual birthday and holiday bash comes to a close. We all have our birthdays, plus Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's, in a three-month span.
-
Happy 50th birthday to Kristi.
-
Happy Birthday Kristi!
-
Back from picking up packages.
-
Ordered food from California Pizza Kitchen, but really calorie-friendly for once - the cedar plank salmon with veggies. Less than six hundred calories.

elmore, this is the Prince Igor - https://www.amazon.com/Borodin-Prince-Igor-BELGRADE-OPERA/dp/B07CSWKH58/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1IO20YJCEFPT6&dchild=1&keywords=borodin+prince+igor&qid=1612650461&s=music&sprefix=borodin+p%2Caps%2C207&sr=1-1

Thank you. I'll watch that later this weekend.

Took the bike out for an hour or so. I don't think I've been on a bike for maybe 30 years.
It was a relearning experience. I could ride alright, but I had to learn how to shift gears on this one, how to handle corners and how to handle stops. I think I'm going to stay just in the neighborhood for a few days.
-
And I think I'm going to have to soak for a long time tonight.
-
Four!
-
Is is a regular bike, DR John G., or electric assist? Extra wide wheels?
-
The PBS Jones & Schmidt Philemon has become available for viewing:

-
My microwave is also only 1000W - so sometimes I adjust the times myself......
Not too much difference, but if you get 900W or lower - you might have to add a bit more time......
-
I think 1100W is high DR JANE.....but I am not an expert.
I just play on on HHW.
-
Salmon was good but you don't get the cedar plank at home.
-
Listening to a Saint-Saens opera called Le Princesse Jaune. Lightweight but charming.

Hopefully I won't need to shop for a new microwave in the near future to compare wattages.

A regular bike, but 21-speed, meant for riding on pavement, not mountains.
-
Gratuitous post No. 101!

Cool. It's been about 20 years since I saw a college production of the show. I loved it. Really looking forward to watching this.
-
Watching a strange French movie called Deerskin. A recently divorced and depressed man uses all his money to buy a fringed deerskin coat. He also wants to make a slasher film. The coat starts talking to him, and he begins to make his movie by really slashing people. It stars Jean Dujardin from The Artist. And well, it's just not as clever as it thinks it is.
-
And having a very nice seafood chowder for dinner. Made it with fish, clams and shrimp.

Thank you!

So my mom called this afternoon to explain that when I called her to tell her not to go out she was busy crashing into the neighbor’s car
-
I didn’t want her to go out because the parking lots are full of ice and I a# afraid ah3 slip and fall
-
Instead as she was reversing out of the drive she hit a patch of ice and flew back and hit the neighbor’s car
-
(Which he insists on parking directly behind her driveway despite being asked not to for years and years)
-
So my afternoon was filled with talking to the insurance company
-
She’s fine BTW
-
But she did a number in both their cars
-
Then I picked up my meds from CVS and came home and took a pain pill
-
I'm glad she's OK, Vixmom.
-
Then Vixdad suggested we look for a microwave
-
We left the house at 5:45 and in quick succession checked out the offerings at
PC Richards Appliances, Home Depot, Kohl’s and BJs
-
Nothing I fancied
-
Then we drive up to Lowe’s where we found the exact same model of microwave
-
Black GE, 2 cubic feet, 1200 watts
-
And it was $199
-
I think I paid nearly $300 in 2013
-
So home we came and by 7:15 it was all set up
-
Thank you Elmore for your research, it’s good to know can look at Sears online fir stuff
-
Glad you survived your appointment, DR vixmom, and that your mom is OK.
It's always something!
-
GRATUITOUS PAGE FIVE POST #125!
-
Good night, everyone.
-
Listened to a wonderful opera by a composer of which I know nothing and apparently I'm not alone in that, and now playing is a comic opera called Der Barbier von Bagdad by Cornelius - I gather the source material is the same as The Barber of Seville. It's a short two-act opera, and its companion opera in this 2-CD set is by Busoni, entitled Arlecchino.
-
The dishes are done. The leftover chowder has been refrigerated. I have soaked.
-
I think I'm going to try to finish One Singular Sensation tonight. I only have about 70 pages to go.
-
Good night, all.
-
She’s fine BTW
Thank goodness for that.
-
And it was $199
Pretty good.
-
I am glad you have a new microwave.
-
(Which he insists on parking directly behind her driveway despite being asked not to for years and years)
If only it was his car that was damaged.
-
DR Vixmom I am very sorry for the situation with your mother. She really should have known not to go anywhere after all of her recent suffering.
-
Happy Birthday, Kristi! 50? Just a baby.
-
I wonder if these are the same folks who were advocating for cancelling The View and Ellen and boycotting Disney over “gay days” ...
Oh I hate those Disney “gay days.” There is no way you can get close to Sleeping Beauty’s castle.

Agreed!

Today, I was out and about and went to the local mall!

I even had some Panda Express from the food court and ate there at a table...all the tables are fairly distanced, so I wasn't concerned. :)

My microwave is a white Samsung. I believe it is more than 1200, because I always have to cut my cooking times.

My microwave is a white Samsung. I believe it is more than 1200, because I always have to cut my cooking times.
I'm too lazy to go downstairs to see what brand mine is, but I think mine is also more than 1200. I also have to cut my cooking time. All of my appliances were here when I moved in in 2006 and they all still work well enough for me.
-
My oven also cooks hotter than the set temperature. I set it 5° less and cook my food for about 5 minutes less than the directions.

Tonight I watched some episodes from Netflix original series UNSOLVED MYSTERIES. In this one episode, the guy was explaining how he could possibly be the murderer of this young woman he said, “When I get high I lose control control and I am an entirely different person. I’m a real jerk. It’s a whole Heckle and Jekyll thing.”
