Well, you've read the notes, the notes were non-stop, and now it is time for you to post until the non-stop cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MIDAS!

And the word of the day is: MIDAS!
Hal Linden did a great version of that (wanna-be-a-hit) tune, "The Midas Touch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjSq2QRrm7o)." ;D
-
Topic of the Day:
Tony Curtis:
Goodbye Charlie
The Great Race
Operation Petticoat
Some Like It Hot
Janet Leigh:
Bye Bye Birdie
The Manchurian Candidate
My Sister Eileen
Psycho

Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR vixmom, your story sounds quite similar to my back issues. I think you may have a crushed disc(s) in your back pressing on your spinal cord. Please look into that ASAP.
-
Yesterday was too much of a day from hell, and I have now experienced thge good and the bad of Access-A-Ride.
-
The good: my pickup time was 1:30, and I received notification by text around 1:25 that the driver would be there in seven minutes or so. The text described the car and gave me the driver's phone number. Several minutes later the driver called me and said he would be there in three minutes. He showaed up in front of my building where I was waiting, loaded my walker into the trunk, and I arrived - because 5th Avenue traffic is impossible - a little before 2:30 for my 3:00 appointment.
-
The bad: there was no crowd, so they saw me almost as soon as I arrived. My interview was over by 3:00, and the interviewer suggested I call Access-A-Ride to see if I coul;d be picked up earlier. I did, and they told me there were no earlier times, but if I wanted to take a taxi home, they would reimburse me. I had a book, so I opted to wait.
BAD NO. 1: AAR suggests you book the ride for travel 90 minutes before and after your appointment.
-
So, around 4:15 I moved from the waiting room where I was reading to the lobby. At 4:45 the driver - who clearly spoke English as a third or fourth language - said something to me, and since I assumed it was "I'll be there in three minutes," I went outside to wait on the sidewalk. Around 5:00 I got a text from AAR saying he would be there in 17 minutes, so that made my ride about 47 minutes later than my scheduled pickup time. round 5:05, I called AAR to ask what the hell was going on. They close shop at 5:00 and I could get no help.
At 5:25, I decided fuckit, walked to the corner of Sixth Avenue and flagged down a taxi. The ride cost me $32.00, and I got home around 6:15. The cats were not amused and I was fit to be tied.
And around 5:35, the driver phones to tell me he had arrived, 65 minutes later than scheduled.
And that's BAD NO. 2.
-
I think if I had got a taxi at 3:00, and not during rush hour. the ride would have cost me less.
-
I'm still pondering how to handle tomorrow's bone scan.

Good morning, all.
-
Lots of appointments today. Dentist first. Vet later.
-
I agree with Elmore’s list but will add The Great Race for Curtis and My Sister Eileen for Leigh.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Sorry about your experience, DR elmore3003. Getting around Manhattan is no picnic. For anyone. But especially for those with mobility issues.
-
Last night, I attended the online premiere of a new cantata by my friend, composer Jonathan Comisar. It is a setting of George Washington's letter "to the Hebrew congregation of Newport, Rhode Island" from 1790. It is called No Bigotry, No Sanction. It was performed by a crack choir and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. I found it profoundly beautiful and moving. It starts in Hebrew (subtitled), but quickly turns to English, and in all encompasses about 15 languages.
If you have any interest in sampling it, it starts at about 12:25 at this link. The full performance runs about 25 minutes.

Good morning, all.
-
Many errands to run today, in the rain. Heavy boxes of litter to cart, in the rain. Parking lots to negotiate, in the rain. These are a few of my favorite things.
-
DR Elmore, what a nightmare.
So apparently there's a learning curve, in return for the low price, in making their system work for you.
Here's hoping your getting reimbursed for that taxi won't be an ordeal. Great honk.
-
I agree with Elmore’s list but will add The Great Race for Curtis and My Sister Eileen for Leigh.
And I'll agree with both of these. Thank you, boys, for doing my work for me today.
-

I think that tomorrow morning I will taxi to East 66th Street. Simce I do not know how l;ong I will be there (four hours or so), it's difficult to schedule my return and I do not relish sitting there for several hours waiting for pickup. Once I've got the radiation treatment times set up, I'll know more about scheduling.
-
Have you ever tried to eat a clock?
It's very time-consuming.
-
bk, tell us the one again about the Randy Vicar and the pulled pork dinner.
-
Waiting at the dentist. And waiting.
-
DR JohnG, I've been meaning to ask if you've heard anything more about how Patricia Sinnott is doing?
-
Good Morning - 8th Grade Baccalaureate Mass this morning, and this evening actually going to the movies.
-
Have a lovely day!
-
You, too, DR MATTHEW.
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE. I think I sometimes don't even think about transportation, living here in the outback, if I need to get someplace, I just get into the machine and drive there.....
At least while I can still drive.....at age 70, I'm not sure how much longer I will be able. I know my night time driving is going to be nil within a few years.
-
I agree with the lists for the TOD. But if I had to choose just ONE favorite for each actor it would be:
Tony Curtis - Sweet Smell of Success
Janet Leigh - Psycho
-
I saw 40 Pounds of Trouble at the movies.....I think it's about a swinging bachelor somehow saddled with a child....
-
I am sorry/grateful to report that HUNCHBACK is completely sold out for the rest of the run!
Which isn't much a feat at 80 seats or so per house.
I did get a good response to my bit last night - I set it up correctly with the audience so that they knew it was okay to laugh....and of course I got applause on my EGRESS.
-
I always think of the stage direction from Shakespeare:
EXUENT - CHASED BY A BEAR
-
Thursday morning greetings! I have been to the site of the AAUW garage sale to take pictures for our Facebook page. Oh, my, it looks like a high-end resale shop - full of stuff I don't need!
-
One major errand done.
Enjoying an egg sandwich and another cup of joe before I head back out there.

DR Ginny, those sales always look first class in your pictures.

Seriously, I have rarely seen any such thing around here that's as well done.

My friends put in hours on these fundraising events. I just do the online publicity and work during the sale.

Not good, the last I heard. Wish I had better news.

The movies sound like fun. I think I will wait until In the Heights.

Rainy day.

DR TCB we visited Poulsbo a few years back but didn't have time to go over the bridge to Bainbridge. At the time we wanted to eat at the cute diner, however, the lical friend we were visiting didn't want to eat there.
-
Keith's cousin has good friends in Bainbridge and visits them every year, except of course last year. She goes on and on about how wonderful the island is. We did miss it last night compared to hot Ellensburg ;D
-
George I enjoyed seeing the view from your bedroom.

That is doing a lot of important work.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe six hours of sleep.

Thanks, Jane. I like it. :)

DR GEORGE's bedroom is in the sky!
Yup! To paraphrase Sondheim, "There are bedrooms in the sky!" ;D
-
Errands have been run. It was a chore, but it's all done.

Not good, the last I heard. Wish I had better news.
Can you find what hospital she is in?
I don’t know that she’s in a hospital. I think she’s in a nursing home, but she’s refusing calls. That was the last I heard.
-
I like pieces from that 3hree score.
-
It’s raining and the temp right now is 66 degrees.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to take some photographs. I was going to try and go to the mail place first, but it's in the opposite direction, so that will have to wait until tomorrow.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
DRGinny, now that you've braved reentry into supermarkets do you think you'll continue to shop in-store? A mix of that and curbside? Your thoughts?
-
Jane, it sounds like your trip has been mostly a success. I do feel it helps to get away now and then, even if not all goes well. Many people must feel cooped up these days.
-
DR Elmore, I'm sorry your rides went so poorly. Mine have been pretty hit-or-miss. I'm still looking for a solution. What I did when I was going to the eye clinic at UCLA was to take a cab there because it was my best option for being on time, then I'd take a bus home. Lots of buses near the clinic and, of course, much cheaper. If it took longer, so be it. Unfortunately, that approach no longer works for me now that I'm with Cedars-Sinai.
-

Congrats on both the sell-out and your performance!
Given the pandemic we must moderate our expectations. OR, "I haven't a clue what to expect!"
-
I'm having a day at home. I saw the osteopath yesterday for a back treatment and need to take it easy today and let the treatment do its thing. Always lots I can do on the computer or just catch up on some reading.
-

Yes, it is great to be on the road.
-
We just entered Idaho.
-
The pandemic has given me a new appreciation for staying home.
-

Idaho? That's a long way from Bainbridge Island.

I hope Couer d'Alene does not disappoint.

DR Jeanne, we'll probably go inside. In fact, we talked about going today, but we're having thunderstorms and there's nothing we need that badly.
-
Well, here's something fun that I'm sharing in honor of Pride Month! It's a video of Pink Martini performing live in San Francisco from 2017:

Hello
-
The chiropractor visit yesterday was helpful
-
He thinks it’s a pinched nerve
-
He suggested sleeping in the recliner since I had great difficulty rising from the adjustment table yesterday
-
That’s understating it
-
It took several minutes, two men and I cried
-
He also gave me a lumbar belt which helped a great deal today
-
Around 1130 last night I took a pain pill and slept straight through the night
-
This morning I was able to move with much less pain if I moved slowly and carefully
-
I wore the lumbar belt all day at work and it helped tremendously
-
Tonight I went back to the chiropractor and he did some more heat and stretching
-
I was able to get off the table by myself
-
Not at all gracefully as I had to slide my legs over, drop to my knees, then pull myself up with my arms
-
But I did it without crying
-
I go see him again Saturday morning
-
Glad to hear that things are gradually improving for you, DR vixmom.
-
I certainly don't like to think of you crying.
-
Unless it is tears of joy.
-
And it doesn't sound like that's the case here.
-
I can't think of any witty things to say to turn the page.
-
But yet, here we are.
-
At FIVE.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Travel vibes for KevinH! Glad you're traveling again.
-
Pain-free vibes for Vixmom. Would you try acupuncture?
-
I went to a happy hour with some friends tonight. Only one waiter wore a face mask.
But the happy hour specials were good. Escargot, a flat-bread pizza with mushrooms and gorgonzola, lamb egg rolls and fried calamari were among the appetizers we made dinner of. Plus a couple of desserts, apple tart tatin and flourless chocolate cake.
-
JB survived his trip to the vet, but my wallet didn't. It was a very expensive visit.
-
Now starting to watch Minari. If I don't finish tonight, I probably won't get to see end until Saturday. Usher for the last symphony concert of the season tomorrow.
-
Gratuitous post No. 127!
-
Pain-free vibes for Vixmom. Would you try acupuncture?
Whenever I hear the word acupuncture it makes me think of that old joke
-
Why do you keep hitting yourself with that hammer?
-
It took several minutes, two men and I cried
:(
I had a pinched nerve in my neck that was equally painful.
-
Because it feels so good when I stop
-

Good.
-
This morning I was able to move with much less pain if I moved slowly and carefully
Very good.
-

Yay.
-
But thank you for the vibes, they seem to be helping
-
I am sorry for your wallet pain John
-

Sorry I interrupted your joke ;D
-
More vibes for DR Vixmom.

I have a baby shower on Saturday, the first party since 2019
-
Fortunately I bought the gifts some weeks ago
-
I’ve known the mother to be since she was born
-
And I’ve known her step mom, who raised her from the age of 5 a
Since I was 16
-
And her dad since I was 18
-
When I mentioned sweet potato fries I had no idea where we were eating. Keith found a nice restaurant with dining on the deck overlooking, from a distance, part of the lake.
I had a delicious housemade veggie burger with spinach and roasted red pepper on a excellent bun.
On the side where exceptionally delicious sweet potato fries.
-
I have a baby shower on Saturday, the first party since 2019
Have fun.
-
For dessert we shared a half scoop each of huckleberry ice cream and black. They were both great.
-
We extended our walk back to the hotel and found the library. It looks very nice.
-
So it’s important to me to be at the shower
-
I hope you are much better before the shower.
-
Back from everything. Photo session was fun. Traffic getting there at one-thirty was anything but.
-
Then early dinner with David Wechter was even more fun.
-
I was petrified to get on the freeway at five-fifteen, but David checked Google maps and it said forty minutes, which isn't bad at all from where he is. So, I chanced it and other than a few spots of heavy traffic (for no reason), it took thirty-five minutes and I got all the way to the mail place and picked up stuff and still got home by six, so that was nice.
-
Then tons of e-mails to answer and a few things to attend to. I think all the main roles in the reading are cast now so I just have to find four actors (two men, two women) who can read all the other roles. Kritzerland is also almost fully cast - just one more gal and maybe one more guest star.
-
I watched thirty minutes of a movie, but am now listening to music and relaxing.
-
I hope you are much better before the shower.
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~
-
When I turned on my computer this evening and tried to open up the Chrome browser, I got this error message:
-
I had no idea what it meant!
-
At first, I took the screen capture to send to my sister's boyfriend to see if he knew what it meant, but then I thought that I should do an Internet search first and see what I can find...so I did.
-
I searched "sxstrace.exe" and got some results which included several videos, so I just watched a couple of them.
-
I always start with videos with shorter lengths, and the first one that I watched was only a couple of minutes long, but seemed to have the sides cut off, so that wasn't much help, at all.
-
And it wasn't a high resolution video, so that didn't help, either. ::)
-
The next video I watched was a little more than 4 minutes long, and was kind of confusing, but one (just one) of the 13 comments below the video essentially asked was that all you had to do was uninstall Chrome and reinstall it?
-
Sounded simple enough, so I uninstalled Chrome, then reinstalled it (I downloaded it through the Microsoft Edge browser), and it's totally fixed!
-
Even all my bookmarks and history and saved passwords were still there...which I was pretty much expecting.
-
And now, all is right with the world.
-
:))
-
Saw "Cruella" this evening - in an actual movie theatre - it's excellent.
-
Now, if I understand correctly, slingdawg went to watch his friend play canasta in Hebrew?
-
Keith's cousin has good friends in Bainbridge and visits them every year, except of course last year. She goes on and on about how wonderful the island is. We did miss it last night compared to hot Ellensburg ;D
I used to live in Ellensburg.
-
Tomorrow morning I'm going on my first trip since March 2020. I'm flying to Ontario, California by way of Dallas. I'm looking forward to seeing my friends.
Will Barbra be there?
-
I hope Couer d'Alene does not disappoint.
Couer d’Alene is gorgeous!
-
Feel better vibes for my dear Debby.
-
I hope you are much better before the shower.
Lol! I was wondering why you were hoping she would feel better before she takes her shower,
-
I realize that she gets well paid for it, but I think it is very nice that Cyndi Lauper does those commercials for Cosentyx.
-
There are probably young girls (teenagers) who have Psoriasis and are devastated by it. But to see someone like Cyndi saying she has it, must help a little.
-
Well, I think so anyway.
-
Good night.
