Well, you've read the notes, the notes were old and had photographs, and now it is time for you to post until the old cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EMBELLISH!
-
Very nice pictures, BK! Is that your mother behind you in the first picture?
-
Today is my sister's boyfriend's birthday. We're going to my mom's at 1:00. I never know what gifts to get him for birthdays and Christmas because he, like me, can pretty much buy himself whatever he wants. But this time I'm giving him a couple of gift cards for local restaurants. He can easily get things to go, so if he still doesn't want to eat in the restaurants, he doesn't have to...and they never expire, so there's that. :)
-
I just need to get him a birthday card before I go to my mom's. I'll try to go to Barnes and Noble. They have some pretty cool cards.
-
Very nice pictures, BK! Is that your mother behind you in the first picture?
No, my mother had died the year prior. That's my ex-wife's mom - a wonderful lady.

Thanks.

A couple of new reviews for Some Days Are Murder - one from an unknown someone and one from elmore.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I don't know if it's the humidity or what, but I am moving very badly and quite painfully. Walking will not be easy today.
-
I slept very well and I had a lot of dreams, none of which I now remember.
-
BK, now that your playlet has been filmed, will it be available for us to watch?
-
I loved the photos in the notes. What are those little white glasses you are wearing, BK?
-
DR George, you are a mensch.
-
I had always wanted to see What's the Matter with Helen? which I missed in its first run. Then I finally bought the DVD, and I wished I hadn't.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Saw What’s the Matter as a little kid of about nine. Had nightmares for days. And yet even then I knew it was campy. The tango that Debbie and Dennis dance is a hoot.
-
BK, now that your playlet has been filmed, will it be available for us to watch?
My question, also.
-
My sister Brigitte sent scary videos of flooding in her hometown and my Mom’s hometown, where my uncle and his family live.
-
Great photos in the notes.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Oddly, I don't think I ever went to see What's the Matter With Helen? - but I have the DVD and I'm pretty sure I've never gotten all the way through it. Of course now I want to take up the challenge.
-
Wonderful pictures in the notes!
I'd like to think there are a few as yet unseen ones from my own earlier lives, because I do know the thrill when such discoveries do happen.
-
BK, now that your playlet has been filmed, will it be available for us to watch?
I second that query. Would love to see it.

Happy Sunday to one and all! There's a brand new Broadway Radio Show up on this site for your listening pleasure. This edition is the 3rd in our Show Tunes on the Air series as we look back at some wonderful vocalists of the past and their covers of show tunes. This time we hear from Margaret Whiting, Peggy Lee, and the always fabulous Vicki Carr! ENJOY!

From DR Singdaw:
This morning, it was 99/63. That seems low to me.
It is though I am often 90/60. Low blood pressure is normal for me and I am surprised when it is over 100. If it isn't normal for you than your doctor should know about it. Are you tracking it at home?
Be careful getting up too fast as it can make you dizzy.
-
From Bruce:
I find it fascinating that I write about Miss Brooke Shields in the notes and suddenly on Facebook articles about Brooke Shields have suddenly showed up. Well, not so much fascinating as creepy and scary.
She had already been popping up in the news & elsewhere for the last several weeks. You are just noticing ;D

Bruce I loved the photos.
-
I've been spilling things all morning. I hope this doesn't bode ill for the rest of the day.
-
Two!
-
Watching the rest of my Maigret movie. Excellent.
-
Here's the movie's theme song. So perfect in its melancholy.

Must go fill up the tank and run a couple of errands.

Thanks, Jane!

I'm up, so now I must shower, get dressed, get a card, then hie myself to my mom's to celebrate Larry's (not DR Larry) birthday.
Have a good day, all!
-
Watching Dimples, which will be the last Shirley Temple movie for me to watch in a while. Lots of blackface. Lots of Stepin Fetchit. Lots of Uncle Tom jokes. Lots of unfunny.
-
I need to wash that taste out of my mouth, so I've switched to the San Francisco Opera version of Show Boat. It's beautifully sung.
-
This morning we began our road trip looking forward to our lunch plans. About an hour out we made what should have been a quick pit stop at a Pilot. Just as I opened the car door to get out a woman raced into the spot next to us and slammed into the door. We are fine but not the car. She apologized saying the sun was in her eyes. Right, sun in eyes means drive faster. We drove home with the door tied closed with a bungee cord. Sigh.
Needless to say, we are very disappointed.
-
At least I hadn't gotten out of the car before she hit us. She wouldn't have seen me.
-
Yikes, Jane! What a horrible story. Glad you're safe.
-
I should be cleaning house. I did the Sunday crossword instead.
-
Yikes, Jane! What a horrible story. Glad you're safe.
Thanks.
-
This was about more than just traveling, it was about seeing friends we haven't seen since covid.
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of sleep to make up for yesterday's six hours of sleep.
-
Elmore, the little glasses were on a doll or something and the Darling Daughter put them on me.
-
I'm not sure what the intention of filming the playlets was - if they end up streaming, I'll let everyone know. If they just send to me to have it, I can put it up privately on YouTube.
-
Really enjoyed Show Boat more this time through. My favorites were Patricia Racette as Julie and Angela Renee Simpson, who, as Queenie, really sells Hey, Fella. Morrison Robinson also gives his best to Ol' Man River.
This was a version I bought, and it had the booklet with it (unlike the library's copy). I was glad to read credit being given to John McGlinn for his work on the score.
It's not entirely perfect. No Show Boat will ever be. This time I wanted more and more music. The Queenie and Joe were so good together, they could have easily fit I Still Suits Me in there.
-
Good Afternoon - it's windy here in the bay area. Yesterday, I went east to a friends house where it was 103, which was most welcome. Today, I attended a Zoom thing with some of the original members of various professional productions of Evita. There were some nice stories, but it went almost 3 hours, I feel like I could have used my time more wisely. However, my camera wasn't working so I was able to just "listen" to the panel and get some things done around the apartment.
Speaking of the computer, ever since I upgraded to Big Sur, iCloud has not been functioning properly and I've just about had it with that. That will be a priority this week to get that worked out.
-
Elmore, the little glasses were on a doll or something and the Darling Daughter put them on me.
Cute :)
-
Six hotels have been cancelled.
-
The one tonight kindly said our money would be refunded.
-
Fifteen friends at various stops have been informed we can't make it.

Oh, my goodness!! :o I hope she has insurance and will pay for ALL the repairs!!
-
What's really too bad is that you have to miss seeing all your friends! :-\
-
I'm home. Larry loved the gift cards!
-
I'm going to go to my sister's in a little bit, and we're going to watch Black Widow on Disney+ on her daughter's HUGE TV. I think it's 65 inches. I'll almost be like being at the movie theater!
-
Jane I am so sorry to hear about your plans having to be cancelled because of that idiot driver. I’m glad you’re safe
-
My sister won our game of Phase 10.
-
Larry I hope you felt better as the day progressed
-
Last night we took my mom to the Red Lobster for her birthday
-
I hadn’t eaten all day and was really looking forward to it

How was it?

We doubt that. At least we will have to pay our detectable. She didn't even have a driver's license to show us. She did give us her name and phone number.

How does your niece manage her sound issues at home?
-
DR Vixmom I hope tomorrow you can get help with your SS info and applying for unemployment.

Assuming she gave you her real name and phone number! She didn't even tell you her driver's license number?? THAT'S the important info.

At home, she has total control of the volume, so she can turn it down as low as she needs it to be. Tonight, she won't be watching with us. She'll be downstairs, so my sister and I can turn up the volume to a louder level.

I thought maybe she had a special headset.

Keith gave her car license to the insurance company.

She has noise cancelling headphones that help some when she's out and about, but she doesn't need any at home.
-
I think it's time for me to prepare for bed.
-
I want to leave as soon as possible in the morning. And I have too many last-minute things, like my sleep mask, that I can't pack until the morning.
-
And the bird.
-
I can't forget him.
-
Good night, all.
-
Sorry I was interrupted by several phone calls in a row
-
Anyway we ordered the seafood stuffed mushrooms and coconut shrimp to share out and they brought their bread basket.
-
I had one of each and we ordered our meals and suddenly I felt an unwelcome rumbling
-
I spent the next 20 minutes in the ladies room
-
Then came out to find the rest of the family eating their dinner
-
Fortunately my brother and his wife had met us there so I made an extremely brief apology asked Vixdad fir the car keys and RAN out if there
-
Fortunately the restaurant is less than a mile from our house and all 5 of the lights were green
-
Because I arrived home with seconds to spare
-
So not an optimum experience all around
-
Everyone else was fine
-
Today I was fine
-
Travel vibes for John and Bird
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Had three slices of pepperoni pizza - just over 1000 calories so all is well and well is all.
-
Listening to Mr. Copland conduct Mr. Copland.
-
And why shouldn't I?
-
No reason I can think of
-
Enjoy
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Gratuitous Post #100!
-
I'm home after watching Black Widow with my sister at her house.
-
If you like the Marvel movies, you'll like this.
-
I really like Black Widow, starring Theresa Russell and Debra Winger. This new thing? If I see the word Marvel, I stay far away.
-
Lots of action, lots of emotion, a good ending, AND an after-credit scene...gotta stick around for that one.

Yup...if you don't like the Marvel movies, you definitely won't like this. ;)

Very good news, Vixmom!

Interesting...Jay Records is releasing their proprietary DigiMIX release of the original London cast recording of Valmouth (https://jayrecords.com/recording/valmouth-(double-cd-incl-digimix-of-original-london-cast-recording)/), starring Cleo Laine, which Kritzerland released just last year.
-
He's a little bonkers, that John Yap, with his "Digi-Mix" crap. There's no reason to get that crap from him if you have ours.
-
Listening to the Peggy Glanville-Hicks opera, The Transposed Heads - just love her music.

Which I do. :)

Sue the crap out of her. Then buy a Learjet and you fly to all your friends’ houses.
-
Jane, I am so sorry about your trip to visit your friends.
-
Of course, you weren’t coming to see me, so I don’t feel that bad.
-
Sorry for the delay, I couldn’t breathe for time.
-
Great photos in the notes.
-
BK, thank you for posting the pod address.
-
I really enjoyed the conversation.
-
It reminded me of a couple times we have had dinner together.
-
Page 5
-
I could listen to your stories for hours.
-
Well, at least, for 1 hour, 46 minutes, and some seconds.
-
Sort of page five.
-
Come on, George. P-U-U-U-U-S-S-S-H-H-H
-
Quiet day today.
-
Not a single phone call.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
I am pretending I’m glad, but it is really depressing.
-
Hello, George.
-
No one called me, either.
-
Did vixdad have to walk home from Red Lobster?
-
Tomorrow at work, we're having a meeting in my department about our move.
-
Right now, our office is near the front of the building...very easy to get in and out.
-
At some point in the next few weeks, we're being moved to a room in the back of the building.
-
Maybe they will put you in the back, with a cage around you.
-
We'll get windows, which is nice (our current office has NO windows), but it's at the back of the building and we still have to park in the front.
-
There's no parking at the back of the building. :P
-
Maybe they will put you in the back, with a cage around you.
The door has a lock, so they could block the door and lock us in that way.
-
And a DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS sign on the cage.
-
And a DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS sign on the cage.
Pretty much. ;)
-
It'll be fine, but moving is never easy.
-
And a DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS sign on the cage.
Pretty much. ;)
George, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Never mind.
-
I have a bunch of boxes of stuff that I should probably go through and get rid of what I can.
-
And a DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS sign on the cage.
Pretty much. ;)
George, go in and fix the color to match my post.
I did. ;D
-
Good night. It is pill time.
-
I remember our visit very fondly. Maybe we should do another.
-
I haven't done a book signing in ages - any book stores in your neck o' the woods?
-
Did vixdad have to walk home from Red Lobster?
No my brother drive him home
