Well, you've read the notes, the notes noted that there's a new Lord in town, and now it is time for you to post until the Lord Cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PAEAN!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Desmond Tutu has died.
-
Happy Birthday to slingblade’s dear husband.
-
Congrats on BK's new Lordship!
-
Today, I'm ushering for A Christmas Carol again. I might go to Subway afterward with my new gift card. I'll bring my Kindle with me, so I'll have something to read, too. :)
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day after Christmas, all!

Finished CODA (all caps) - not a film I knew much about other than something about deaf people. But what a charmer it is - winning and funny and moving and with a lead performance that radiates right off the screen - Emilia Jones is the name and if there was any reality to the Oscars this nineteen year old would win best actress - best performance I've seen this year and she sings really well, too. And the director just tells the story so simply and effortlessly - Sian Heder is her name and I found her soooo much more talented than the woman who directed Nomadland. I laughed, I cried, I ate a caramel. The three actors who play her deaf family members are all deaf and what performances they give, especially Marlee Matlin. There's a wonderful moment during the singing of a duet in a school concert, where we're listening to the song and the audience attending the school concert is enjoying it - the deaf family of the hearing teen is there and they don't really know what they're singing up there - and it's a nice moment that's suddenly turned transcendent when the director takes the sound out right in the middle of the song and you experience it just as her parents and brother are. It's a great moment. Probably my favorite movie of the year now.
-
Good morning, all!
-
It's been hell already. My Spectrum cable was out of service for around 15 minutes sfyrt I logged onto the computer, and this happens far too often, I honestly do not think it's the vable in my apartment since in the past year two technicians have been here to check out the situation. I think it's in the main cabe to the building.
-
BK, I'm happy you had a good visit with your daughter. Your thoughts on CODA make me want to see it very much.
-
DR TCB, your Christmas dinner sounds like crap, and I'm so sorry. I'm happy you will soon be out of there.
-
DR Laura, what Filipino food did you have for Christmas dinner?
-
Happy Birthday to DR singdaw's spouse!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Thanks for all the good wishes for the DH.
-
It's Sunday, so he has to go to work.
-
I have the day off.
-
We're supposed to get significant snowfall this afternoon into tomorrow.
-
I quite enjoyed CODA, and glad that you did too, bk.
-
Congratulations on your Lordshipness!
-
DR Laura, what Filipino food did you have for Christmas dinner?
Ham, pork belly, rice noodles with vegetables, plus salad, potato salad, and ice cream.
It was delicious. My son is a lucky man.
-
Good morning.
-
Happy Birthday to Jayson.
-
It's Sunday!
-
All Hail Lord BK.
As they say in the Wizard of Id:
"The peasants are revolting!"
-
It sounds like MR....uh....LORD BK had a nice day yesterday. I enjoyed reading about CODA. I may see it sooner or later. I worked in the business office at the Indiana School for the Deaf for about eight years.
It was interesting and fun for the most part. Until we got a new business manager who couldn't manage tying his shoes, let alone a school budget..... I stuck it out for a year or two and then moved on.
-
Good morning, all.
-
One more …
-
Two!
-
I also enjoyed the comments on CODA. i was intrigued by the original reviews. I don’t know if it even played San Antonio theaters.
-
Lunch with friends today. This is probably my last Christmas dinner. Antelope is on the menu.
-
I'm starting The Last Duel. I will tell you that it's true: Matt Damon's mullet is distracting.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Yesterday felt like a Sunday. Today feels like a Saturday.
-
It is exciting to hear about Lord BK and his SMALL PIECE OF LAND (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WCOzqP9Dt9E).
-
Adding CODA to my mental* list. I’d heard about it, and I think I saw a trailer, but I hadn’t realized Marlee Matlin is in it. Always liked her.
*mental — ha! Like I’m going to remember all of these titles. Time to get them written down somewhere.
-
I hadn’t realized they’d actually put TCB in jail for the first stage of his healing. I did think the food was supposed to be better there.
-
Good morning your Lordship
-
Good morning to the rest of you commoners too
-
Snow……..Snow……..Snow!
-
So glad that you are cleared to move on to the next stage, DR TCB. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
-
Snow……..Snow……..Snow!
no ... No ... NO!
-
Good morning to the rest of you commoners too
Mere peon here.
-
Harriet Walter, who was so good as Lady Macbeth in the video I watched recently, is one of the best things about The Last Duel. She has a deliciously nasty role as the mother of Matt Damon.
-
Good morning to the rest of you commoners too
Mere peon here.
I'm of the hoi polloi.
-
Well, in the spirit of the season, hoi hoi hoi.
-
Happy Boxing Day everyone! As 2021 comes to a close, it's that time again....time for me to share my picks for the best recordings of the past year. This week's Broadway Radio Show is my Top Ten Vocalist Recordings of 2021. It's a fun list with performers from Broadway, the West End as well as the worlds of cabaret, jazz and country. Give it a listen and ENJOY!!!

-
Well, in the spirit of the season, hoi hoi hoi.
;D
-
Thanks for that reminder, DR Donald.
-
DR TCB I am glad you will be able to go to your sister's house while you recover.
-
TCB, will the cats be able to join you there?
-
I quite enjoyed CODA, and glad that you did too, bk.
I also enjoyed it.
-
To the husband of DR Singdaw,

-
I hadn’t realized they’d actually put TCB in jail for the first stage of his healing. I did think the food was supposed to be better there.
I am not surprised it was bad, it was the menu that surprised me.
-
Awwww - thanks, DR Jane!
-
Snow……..Snow……..Snow!
Pretty.
-
We have a light dusting of snow. Even though it is Sunday we are going to the gym before we get more snow.
-
A colleague gave me a batch of home-brewed Coquito, which we enjoyed last night. I admit I had to look it up (below). It was delicious.
Coquito, meaning "Little Coconut" in Spanish, is a traditional Christmas drink that originated in Puerto Rico. The coconut-based alcoholic beverage is similar to eggnog, and is sometimes referred to as Puerto Rican Eggnog.
-
Just ordered some N95 masks. It was hard to find a supply that was in stock.
-
THREE!!!
-
Happy holiday to everyone on HHW!
Sorry to hear about your ankle DR TCB. Hope that you are doing better.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Someone was apparently brushing up on their trigonometry homework...
-
I hear that 1000 angles can dance on the head of a pin.
-
Okay....what have I checked or clicked or done wrong.....when I search for something on EBAY, instead of a list and photos of items, I get a page of categories to check off.....I can't get back to the original......
Just like my Facebook is still messed up most of the day with the SOMETHING HAS GONE WRONG RELOAD PAGE....even though I changed browser, logged out....changed passwords....NOTHING HELPS. And then suddenly at the end of the day....there it is.
-
I guess I am listing instead of buying - don't know how and don't know how to get out of it.
-
Okay I think I fixed it. Weird man weird.
-
TOD:
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you when you made an internet purchase?
-
I am not a fan of either coconut or eggnog, yet the Coquito sounds good.
-
Okay I think I fixed it. Weird man weird.
Good. I hope it stays fixed.
-
Two hours later…….SNOW!
-
You can't have SNOW without NO.
-
TCB, will the cats be able to join you there?
ROTFLMAO!! That wouldn’t work. They have two dogs, and Jim claims to be allergic to cats.
-
HAPPY BOXING DAY
-
Please count me among those who say...
Happy Birthday, Jayson
-
I am done shouting now.
Am hoarse.
-
He thanks you!
-
I hear ice cream soothes a sore throat.
-
Medicinal ice cream. Yeah, that sounds right!
-
TCB, will the cats be able to join you there?
ROTFLMAO!! That wouldn’t work. They have two dogs, and Jim claims to be allergic to cats.
Too bad. What happened to your cat sitter?
-
Those is looking out from the theater where I'm currently ushering:

ROTFLMAO!! That wouldn’t work. They have two dogs, and Jim claims to be allergic to cats.
Too bad. What happened to your cat sitter?
You mean Micheal? He is still taking care of the kitties.
-
The show starts at 2:00, and now at 1:30 only 2 people have shown up...so far.

I am surprised you made it to the theater.
-
Hey DR TCB. Glad you're hanging in there.
-
In the SNOW.
-
With nowhere to GO.
-
Maybe tonight you'll get jello surprise.
-
Hey DR TCB. Glad you're hanging in there.
Thank you, my friend.
-
One can always hope.
-
Page four!
-
I've had the oven on "self-clean." It appears to take about 4.5 hours and fills the apartment with acrid fumes.
-
Whether or not this is an improvement over plain old-fashioned elbow grease is not clear at this point.
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of really needed sleep.
-

ROTFLMAO!! That wouldn’t work. They have two dogs, and Jim claims to be allergic to cats.

You used to have a cat sitter I thought was also your friend.

I am surprised you made it to the theater.
I hope he makes it home from the theater.
-
I've had the oven on "self-clean." It appears to take about 4.5 hours and fills the apartment with acrid fumes.
I need to do ours tomorrow :P
-
Whether or not this is an improvement over plain old-fashioned elbow grease is not clear at this point.
I still think it is an improvement. I also don't need to do it very often since we don't cook meet in the oven.
-
A self-cleaning oven is a gift from Heaven above.
-
I agree ;D
-
A self-cleaning oven is a gift from Heaven above.
And the angles rejoice. 8)
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of really needed sleep.
I am envious. If I get seven total hours in a night, i'm lucky.
-
I am very lucky to get seven total hours.
-
The show starts at 2:00, and now at 1:30 only 2 people have shown up...so far.
Well, after the show started, I was sitting in the back and counted 65 people.
-
It was a good performance, especially because one of the actors had been exposed to Covid and wasn't there!
-
Except for the actor playing Scrooge, everyone else played multiple roles, so four of the actors played his scenes with scripts in hand.
-
I wasn't in the theater when the show started, so I don't know if an announcement was made, but no one seemed to comment negatively after the show, so there probably was an announcement.
-
And now, I'm at Subway, having a sub sandwich, paid for with my gift card Christmas present. :)
-
The show starts at 2:00, and now at 1:30 only 2 people have shown up...so far.
I am surprised you made it to the theater.
I was a good thing I went! I got a call from the house manager as I was driving there, asking if I was on my was. I turned out to be the ONLY usher! Someone did work concessions, but the house manager scanned tickets, and a higher up in the WCPA came and checked Covid cards.

Six for me. ::)

I used to hire my friend, Betzy, when I went on vacation. She lives near my old apartment in north Tacoma (which is a long drive to my place), she is now working full-time as a social worker (so she no longer needs the peanuts that I paid); and finally, she is currently in bed with CoVid.
-
Medicinal ice cream. Yeah, that sounds right!
All ice cream is medicinal, if only for the soul.
-

Not bad considering the weather.

Finished the tuna pasta salad and just playing on the computer. Next, I'll begin watching the final disc of Adam-12 and then I'll write.

Good.

Had lunch with friends today. Cecil smoked some antelope, which was quite good with scalloped potatoes, and Pam made a salad with items from their garden. I brought the lime coconut chess pie, which was just tart and light enough after that to work beautifully.
-
Five!

That explains why she wasn't sitting this time. I hope she recovers quickly.

Watching a documentary about Buster Keaton at MGM. Then I'll watch Keaton's The Cameraman, which is considered the last great silent movie he made.
-
There's another extra on The Cameraman disc that his Lordship would appreciate. It's called Time Travelers and it takes a look at the forgotten LA that Buster Keaton captured in his films. In The Cameraman, there are images of Hollywood and Vine in 1928, plus the Venice Plunge, an enormous public swim pool.

-
The sun was shinning today and it still isn't snowing.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Hi DR Jeanne.
-
Glad to see TCB here.
Vibes for your continuing recovery.
-
Hi, Jane.
-
The show starts at 2:00, and now at 1:30 only 2 people have shown up...so far.
I am surprised you made it to the theater.
I hope he makes it home from the theater.
I'm not home yet, but I'll definitely make it.
Good.
I am now home...safe and somewhat sound.
Is it snowing there?
No, Jane, no snow here. ;)
-
Yes, yesterday felt like a Sunday. And it just didn't feel right to have Christmas on a Saturday.
-

Is it snowing there?
No, Jane, no snow here. ;)
LOL. What is it, 80 degrees?
-
Because we went to the gym today it feels like Monday instead of Sunday again.
-
My one and only self-cleaning oven was a disappointment. It didn't do a very good job at all. I had to do the old elbow grease method.
There are DYI formulas out there. No toxic fumes. There are also some very good non-toxic product line out there, but I've never looked for an oven cleaner. (My current oven hasn't worked since I moved in, but it's clean!)
-
LOL, not working will keep it clean. Do you care that it doesn't work?

No, Jane, no snow here. ;)
LOL. What is it, 80 degrees?
No, it warmed up to about 59--with sun!--but the temperature is dropping rapidly now. Forecast low is 43.
-
LOL, not working will keep it clean. Do you care that it doesn't work?
No. I don't have time to wait around for a repairperson who's two hours late and I still prefer not to have anyone in the apartment (besides me).
-
While cooler than I expected, I would be happy with 59 degrees. I misread something from a friend showing her grandkids swimming (Santa Clarita). The pool is 81 degrees, not the air ;D
-
LOL, not working will keep it clean. Do you care that it doesn't work?
No. I don't have time to wait around for a repairperson who's two hours late and I still prefer not to have anyone in the apartment (besides me).
Understandable. I wouldn't like not having a working oven even though I don't use it like I used to.
-
Glad to see TCB here.
Vibes for your continuing recovery.
Thank you, Jeanne.
-
I was happy to see the sun -- and I enjoy rain. But rain is not so enjoyable when you're worried about your roof. As you know, we can't handle a lot of rain. Best to have a break here and there. It also gives us a chance to run an errand or two before the next downpour.
-

I live in a budget apartment. They don't fix things as they should (IMO).
-
Hunger calls.
TTFN.
-
Breaks in the rain while doing errands is a good thing ;)
-
I have my two 2022 calendars in front of me and am filling in important information.

Speaking of trigonometry...

It IS Boxing Day, after all... ...the most sacred day in the entire cat calendar!
-
;D
-
Good night, friends.
-
My daily calendar is done. This takes longer as it contains notes for medical stuff throughout the year.
-
It IS Boxing Day, after all... ...the most sacred day in the entire cat calendar!
Don’t tell ALW, he will add another song to the show.

'night

Hello, 1 guest!
-
TOD:
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you when you made an internet purchase?
I think getting two shipments of the same thing I had ordered. I can't remember what the item was, but it was something I had sent to Mom. They let me keep the second shipment for free.
-
Two hours later…….SNOW!
i love watching it come down. It's the cold and slippery slidy part of it that bums me out.
-
TOD:
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you when you made an internet purchase?
Shortly after I bought my new phone, I bought a new phone case. It didn't arrive by the expected date, so I got an automatically generated e-mail saying that if it didn't arrive in a couple more days, I could ask for a refund. It didn't arrive, so I asked for a refund.
-
I then reordered the case, thinking that it was just lost in the mail. I got the refund pretty quickly, and then I received in the mail what I thought was the second case that I'd ordered...but it turns out that it was the first case that I'd ordered because a couple of days later, I got the second case!
-
I kept both, even though I'm only using one. ::)
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
And Adam-12 is done. It seemed like there were two episodes where they were testing out potential new partners for Kent McCord because I don't think Milner was going to continue if there was a season eight. One was Mark Harmon and the other Joanne Pflug.
-
Good night, all.
-
In Tacoma, it is currently 19 degrees, with a wind chill of 10 degrees.
-
Who knows how low we may go???
-
We look to have around 6 inches of snow at the old rehab!
-
The view from my window is very nice, because there is no one walking on my snow.
-
Well, the view is non-existent after dark.
-
I may not leave her tomorrow.
-
My sister and her husband aren’t sure they can get out of their driveway and down the hill to the main Street.
-
How much snow do you have, George? Not inside your condo, but outside?
-
Sorry I am blabbing so much tonight. It has been a very lonely day.
-
I am looking over at this beautiful flower arrangement that they delivered today.
-
It is white roses, white Chrysanthemums, and pretty red berries.
-
I really need to thank the sender, but I have no idea who sent them.
-
One more to go go.
-
Page seven!!
-
It is white roses, white Chrysanthemums, and pretty red berries.
Have some tea, my Lord, Some chrysanthemum tea....
;D
-
How much snow do you have, George? Not inside your condo, but outside?
I haven't been able to find that out, yet.
-
This is what it looked like as I was driving to Subway this afternoon:
-
You don’t own a ruler?
-
This is what the front of my building looks like:
-
You don’t own a ruler?
I do, but I'm not going outside now! :o
-
Had some peanuts, some potato chips, and a piece of the pumpkin cream pie - I am now ready to vomit on the ground.
-
Listening to Some Lovers, the new Bacharach album, even though it's not really his - it was produced with Broadway singers, the producers were not Bacharach, the orchestrations are by Jonathan Tunick, who orchestrated the production of this show back in 2011 at the Old Globe. You know that I love Mr. Bacharach and have for almost sixty-five years now. And the problems with this album have nothing to do with him, the main problems are the horrible lyrics by Steven Sater, lyricist of Spring Awakening, which I can't even listen to. The songs are very musically Bacharach and he's still got it, but there are no instantly memorable things here, but Sater is not Hal David or any of the other lyricists that Bacharach has worked with. I also think the album if fussily produced, a bit inconsistent, and some might say overproduced - it's really hard to make Kristen Chenoweth sound like some singer we've never heard. It's supposedly based on O. Henry's The Gift of the Magi, but I don't know that story, but I'm thinking they should precede the word "based on" with "loosely". There's a song called This Christmas, but I like mine better :) And then there are the singers - I'm just enamored of this new crop of Broadway singers - the men all sound the same and so do the women.
-
Had some peanuts, some potato chips, and a piece of the pumpkin cream pie - I am now ready to vomit on the ground.
What a coinkydink! I just had some cashews and potato chips...no pie, though.
-
I'm thinking about vomiting on the ground.
-
Perhaps a Pepcid is in order.
-
I've had it with this pie and the rest is going the way of the dodo bird.
-
I'm happy I didn't buy the CD of Some Lovers - I got the mp3 release. And that's enough.
-
I'm thinking about vomiting on the ground.
Fortunately, I don't have to.
-
I'm happy I didn't buy the CD of Some Lovers - I got the mp3 release. And that's enough.
I bought the CD, but haven't listened go it, yet. ::)
-
Engineer Vinnie and I used to have a little musical joke - because he'd always mix the drums like a rock album and I'd have to say, "Holy sidestick, Batman" - and we'd laugh and then he'd pull the sidestick back to a normal level. Mr. Sondheim once said to me, "Well, you love backbeats, don't you?"
-
I got a text from work a little earlier tonight that says we have a "District-wide late start for Monday, December 27th. Libraries and SC will open at 12pm. Further announcements will be sent by 10am Monday." :D
-
You don’t own a ruler?
I do, but I'm not going outside now! :o
Why not?
-
You don’t own a ruler?
I do, but I'm not going outside now! :o
Why not?
Because I'm firmly ensconced in my bed up in my bedroom and I don't want to put on outside clothes and let cold air in. I'm in for the night. ;)
-
I would go and measure if they would let me.
-
But then, I am suffering from cabin fever.
-
I would go and measure if they would let me.
But then, I am suffering from cabin fever.
Ahh...okay, Tom. I'll do it for you. :)
-
Don’t worry about it, George. I will live without you getting frostbite.
-
It wasn't as bad as I though it would be. I measured on the top of the house that my sister bought for my cat:
-
And here's the close-up, Mr. DeMille:
-
Just under 6 inches.
-
Just under 6 inches.
Thank you so much, George. You have made my night.
-
Just under 6 inches.
Thank you so much, George. You have made my night.
My pleasure, Tom. ;D
