Well, you've read the notes, the notes wore tennis shoes and lost four paragraphs, and now it is time for you to post until the tennis shoes-wearing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BONHOMIE!
-
That's pretty scary about that Indiewire website and what happened to your computer, BK! :o
-
Today, we don't have to go into work until noon...so I won't. My normal-ish time to go in is 9:00, so I'll get to use at least three hours of Emergency Leave (since it's determined by the admin, there's no limit per year) instead of Inclement Weather (capped at 16 hours per year) or my vacation time. And if they close the building early, or open late tomorrow too, that's also more Emergency Leave. :)
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Gppd morning, all!
-
I slept well, got plenty of sleep, but I would still like to go back to bed and sleep some more.
-
Good morning.
-
My cable went out for about 20 minutes. This happens way too often, so I called spectrum, spoke to a technician, and told him I did not think the problem was in my apartment buit in the cable coming into the building. He checked it, confirmed my theory, and between 9:00 and 10 today a supervisor will show up to check the situation.

Annabelle ate this morning for the first time in two days. She's gone back to sleeping in her bookcase aerie, which hasn't been vacuumed or cleaned in six months or so since I can no longer climb up there. I think she gets her sinuses clogged with dust, cannot smell, and therefore will not eat. I've been rinsing her nose with a wet cotton ball, which she hates, but last night she slept at the foot of my bed . . . and she ate this morning. I hope this continues.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Not ready to face the world.
-
I swapped sides of the bed, so I wouldn’t have to get up on the side that has vertigo. But it felt like sleeping in a new bed.
-
It is now 59 degrees and cloudy here.....the windows and screen doors are open so that we can enjoy the weather.
It's a bit damp....but not bad for December the 27th.
-
I am thinking I will be here for the NYE celebration. I have not been invited any place else.....but then I am usually a last minute invitation....like maybe in the afternoon of December the 31st.
-
Tomorrow is a banking day.....my sister has lost her glasses. We have been looking everywhere for them....
I hope they turn up.
-
Good morning, all.
-
What's with all this weather in the Pacific Northwest? eh?
I'm thankful we're staying relatively clean of it. We had that inch on Christmas Eve which finally melted off by Christmas afternoon. That's enough White Christmas for me, thankyouverymuch.
Tonight we're supposed to get some freezing rain or a little mix. It will screw up everybody's commutes in the morning but will melt off through the day.

I don't use Malwarebytes or anything else on the Mac. Maybe I should? Who else here besides His Lordship uses any kind of third party protection on their Mac? Maybe I should go with at least the free version?
I do use it -- the paid version of Malwarebytes -- on my old Windows laptop. I view that as essential. Also, because I never upgraded from Windows 7 which is no longer supported, I'm very careful to keep it offline except when necessary for short periods...even WITH the Malwarebytes protection.

New Year's Eve -- I may drop in from time to time. I have zero plans, as usual.
Weather: Here in Carolina del Sud (that's Eye-talian for South Carolina), we are having a warm spell, with highs in the 70s all week. It may rain at some point.
I have it in my mind that today is Monday. Is that right? Saturday felt like Sunday, and yesterday felt strangely like Monday, but I had to keep reminding myself that it couldn't' possibly be Monday.
Retirement is rough.
-
Tomorrow is a banking day.....my sister has lost her glasses. We have been looking everywhere for them....
I hope they turn up.
Will they likely be at the bank?
-
I had to look it up to be sure, but how interesting that "south" is the same word in both Italian and German. (In German, it's Süd, but same difference.)
Or maybe that isn't so unusual? I'm ready for a second cup of coffee anyway.
-
And the word of the day is: BONHOMIE!
People around here seem full of bonhomie. That's pretty awesome given the state of the world.
-
Oh, yes...and Good Morning to all.
-
Couldn't there also be a country in which it's: Suds?
-

Also in French!!
In Spanish it's Sur.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Yes, it's definitely Monday. Back to work for me.
-
DR singdaw, if you needed to know what day it is, all you had to do was ask.
We are here to serve.
-
We are here to serve.
And for that, I am most grateful.
-
TWO!!
-
DR ChasSmith, I have both Clean My Mac and Malwarebytes. Since I was hacked several years ago, I'm a bit paranoid.
-
I have no plans for New Year’s Eve, but I may be told differently tonight.
The dancing classes usually get together that evening but there is no place for it this year.
-
One of the books I got for Christmas was a collection of four Mary Poppins books. I started reading the first. I don’t know why I never read them before, but the first is a delight.
-
It's 363 days until Christmas, and some people already have their lights up. Unbelievable!
-
DR John G. - are one of those 4 books the one where the kids learn to cook, with recipes included?
-
Sadly, no, Singdaw. Her cookery book is not included. Maybe Santa will bring it if I read all 1,000 pages in this volume.
-

These are the people who shop in time
These are the sheeple who pop in time.
-
We'll have a li'l Zoom partay going on with our usual New Years Eve suspects, like we did last year, and I'll be popping in here from time to time.
Those are just the people who would normally come to the house. It's a group that's been consistent for over a decade.
(I was very careful not to type "pooping" above.)
(Seriously. I've found that my fingers want to mess up words with a double-o and double-consonants.)
-
Monday morning greetings! We have another day to play with Charlotte.
-
Brilliant!

-
TOD - we’ll be home for New Year’s Eve, watching the college football playoff semifinals.
Go, Bearcats!
Go, Blue!
-
I will also pop in here from time to time. As for eating, I’m planning to make spaghetti sauce from scratch using a recipe I got from Mrs. H about 50 years ago.
-
I suspect that on New Year's Eve, I will be in bed by 9:30, snuggled up with three cats.
-
Brilliant!

It's nice to know who wrote "It was a dark and stormy night" first, but Snoopy made it famous. I've always liked "I'm too young to die," which I think first made its appearance in Dumas' Les Trois Mousquetaires.
-
Vernon and Vincent showed up in my mailbox this morning.
-
My sister's glasses were in the PT Cruiser. After I had looked every where else, I thought that she rode with me in it on Thursday....and there they were.
We were most happy. We had already looked in the Smart Car.....
-
Yay!
But if you had suggested looking there first, DR JRand71, you would have been WRONG.
:)
-
I have submitted many entries over many years to the Bulwer-Lytton contest, but have never gotten even so much as a dishonorable mention. :)
-
I thought some of my entries were pretty darned atrocious, myself.
-

Ha!
-
Long day at work. And I even took an hour to go buy some discounted Christmas stuff.
-
I swapped sides of the bed, so I wouldn’t have to get up on the side that has vertigo. But it felt like sleeping in a new bed.
We often switch sides when we travel. In Palm Springs I reached over to get something from my end table and hit Keith instead ;D
-
Tomorrow is a banking day.....my sister has lost her glasses. We have been looking everywhere for them....
I hope they turn up.
Oh no. How does one wonder far from their glasses if they are needed to see? Is she ok without them?
-

I have never read them. It seems like an unusual gift, and apparently an excellent choice.
-

Awww, lucky you.

I am glad you found them.

After an hour and a half of scrubbing oven racks and the window my arms are still a bit shaking. At least I can type again though it is still bothering my right shoulder a bit.
-
Keith gave the window a good start before leaving for an appointment, however, I still had to scrub it for more than twice the time he spent on it.
-
I scrubbed the racks after starting the self cleaning oven. It really didn't smell bad at all.
-
Three!
-
Jane, you really shouldn’t hit Keith.
-
It’s not nice.
-
Jane, you really shouldn’t hit Keith.
:D
-
I didn't hit him all that hard as he never noticed.
-
I'm up, I'm up - not much sleep, maybe four or five hours.

There was an update and I'm still at home!
SC will be closed today Monday Dec. 27. Staff with telework agreements on file can telework. Contact your supervisor with any questions.
:D
-
Since I don't have a "telework agreement," I get the day off with pay!

Thanks, Jane. Since I'm not at work, I have time to run a couple of errands, so I'm staying at home all day.
-
I like that SoundCloud site DR Elmore uses for so many audio selections.
I don't know why I haven't thought of it before now, but I should set up an account there myself.
(EDIT: I should also find out how much it costs first...)
-
Fortunately, all my errands are in Tumwater, so all my driving is on flat roads...no hills at all. :)
-
Looking at their subscription listings, maybe that isn't so appropriate for my purposes. All I want it for is to share the occasional audio file with a few friends.
-
Benson was a homeless cat in Dubai, and an American couple brought him back to the USA where he is now an Instagram star. I wish to hell Annabelle would get some modeling work. We could use the money.
-
More Benson! I love him.
-
Has anyone seen the previews for a Bollywood flick called Pushpa? It’s playing all over town, not just the theater that traditionally shows them. Looks like fun.
-
Macbeth opens Friday.
-
:)
-
I have purchased the book DR JOHN G has been reading.....Solid Ivory.....it should be here at the end of the week.
-
DR JANE my sister only uses her glasses to drive at night so she doesn't miss them until she is participating in that activity.
DR singdaw you are correct.....
-
I watch/listen to two episodes of ADAM-12 each weekday at 5 p.m. on ME Tv. They had been showing the episodes that LORD BK was talking about....
Today they started back at Season 1 Episode 1.
-
DR JANE my sister only uses her glasses to drive at night so she doesn't miss them until she is participating in that activity.
That makes it easier to not know they are missing. When I can't find my glasses it is simply because I can't see where they are ;D
-
I have purchased the book DR JOHN G has been reading.....Solid Ivory.....it should be here at the end of the week.
Some of it was very good, but I felt it got a little too ragged toward the end.
-
:)
Too funny.
-
I have a Sound Cloud account - it's free.
-
I keep reading more wonderful things about CODA. Wanna see it.
-
Having a Chinese chicken salad from Stanley's, songs are all chosen and everyone has their music, I've written for an hour and will do more soon. When I'm done eating, I'll mosey on over to the mail place.
-
Your lordship, my memory is definitely faulty lately, but did you mention Nothing in Common among your year-in-review events? What’s the status of that?
-
Four!
-
It was definitely cold on our afternoon walk, especially my fingers and face. I need to find my gloves that go inside my regular gloves for extra warmth.
-
Cold but not windy :)
-
Best of all, the predicted ice did not happen.
-
I have a Sound Cloud account - it's free.
So do I, but I don't post anything.
-
I did my errands (a quick trip to Fred Meyer) and now am at my mom's. We're just about to play Phase 10...big surprise!! ;D
-
Phase 10? On a Monday? I'm all shook up.
-
Well, I am still here.
-
Neither my sister or her husband could get out of their driveway, let alone down the hill.
-
Rehab said that was no problem, BUT one way or another I will be out of here tomorrow.
-
I may have to go by transport or, possibly, taxi.
-
I said I hope that they take credit cards, because I do not have one cent on me.
-
Something to look forward to, DR TCB!
-
On tonight's menu: meatloaf surprise!
-
Thanks, Jane. Since I'm not at work, I have time to run a couple of errands, so I'm staying at home all day.
How can you run a couple of errands AND stay at home all day?
-
Benson was a homeless cat in Dubai, and an American couple brought him back to the USA where he is now an Instagram star. I wish to hell Annabelle would get some modeling work. We could use the money.
Maybe if she wasn’t so picky….

Benson is a very cool cat. I hope he isn’t Al-Qaeda.
-
It was definitely cold on our afternoon walk, especially my fingers and face. I need to find my gloves that go inside my regular gloves for extra warmth.
They won’t help your face.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
More rain here. I hope the Sierras are getting lots of snow.
-
I swapped sides of the bed, so I wouldn’t have to get up on the side that has vertigo. But it felt like sleeping in a new bed.
Does the side of the bed that has vertigo go to acupuncture, while the other side stays home?
-

Jane, maybe you should check out Benson's optician. They apparently have frames for small faces. ;)
-
Well, I am still here.
Sorry about the bad timing on the weather.

Your decision or theirs?

Nope, but with a scarf around my face it wasn't as cold as my finger were, even with my hands in my pockets.

-
I am in holiday relaxation mode. I don't feel like doing a lot.
-
DR TCB what exactly have they been doing at the rehab facility to help you?
-
I forgot to mention that Britbox has brought back MIRANDA! I saw it several years ago on Hulu, with endless commercials, some of them repeating themselves without a break. Gawd! It'll be a pleasure to see it stream properly.
-
Cool.
-
Thanks for mentioning it.
-
DR Laura I hope your DD in-law does not have family or friends harmed by Typhoon Rai.
-
BTW, new streaming services seem to pop up every week. Does anyone have one (or more) they recommend? I have Acorn TV, Britbox, PBS Passport, and Amazon Prime and it doesn't cover everything I'd like to watch (such as CODA). Any suggestions?
-
DR TCB what exactly have they been doing at the rehab facility to help you?
I've been wondering the same. A good PT?
-
I am RSVPing for the HHW NYE Bash.
-
TTFN.
-
I will be here during the day but not for the New Year's Eve bash.
-
Well, I am still here.
That seems clear
Are you almost through your memoirs?
-
What a day! What a day!
I got to the post office.
I went to a grocery store.
I got some lunch.
Oy!
-
I had every intention of accomplishing something meaningful, but I couldn't muster the interest.
-
Sometimes, accomplishing a few simple daily tasks is enough.
-
There can be meaning in that.
-
Youmans and Ellington have landed in the midwest.
-
Sometimes, accomplishing a few simple daily tasks is enough.
I did one big one today and nothing else. It felt good though. Best of all, I didn't have to skip going to the gym as we couldn't go anyway.
-
Picked up one little package. Very rainy out going and coming back. Did more writing and have one more sequence to do, which I'll try and finish later tonight. And now, trying to watch a movie called The Tender Bar based on some best-selling memoir of a kid growing up - it's making me really irritated for so many reasons, but I'll narrow it down to two words: Benjamin Kritzer, which I'll explain later in the notes - and no, it's nothing like my book.
-
'night
-
Good night, friends.
-
I swapped sides of the bed, so I wouldn’t have to get up on the side that has vertigo. But it felt like sleeping in a new bed.
Does the side of the bed that has vertigo go to acupuncture, while the other side stays home?
I wish. :)
-
I had every intention of accomplishing something meaningful, but I couldn't muster the interest.
Amen.
-
It's still 71 degrees outside and quite pleasant. Tomorrow, the high should only be 77. By Sunday, the temps will be down to 33 degrees, which definitely means time to bring in some of the plants.
-
Listening to the London cast recording of Cabaret, which is new to me. The orchestrations sound almost too rich to me. They're dazzling. But I guess I'm too used to the movie and the recent revivals with only the band on stage and little else.
-
Finished with my viewing. Finished with my writing and got my sequences done. About to have a little evening snack of a few potato chips and onion dip.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Good night, all.
-
Phase 10? On a Monday? I'm all shook up.
Well, NOT working on a Monday is shaking things up, too! ;)
-
Thanks, Jane. Since I'm not at work, I have time to run a couple of errands, so I'm staying at home all day.
How can you run a couple of errands AND stay at home all day?
Spoo! You're right! I forgot the word "otherwise." "Since I'm not at work, I have time to run a couple of errands, otherwise I'm staying at home all day."
::)
-
Well, I didn't stay home after my errands.
-
My mom called and said that she was bored, so I went over and we did play Phase 10.
-
We played three games and I won the second of the three.
-
The last time just the two of us played, I won all four games that we played...but today, it was not to be a repeat of that previous time. :P
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!

Has anyone seen the previews for a Bollywood flick called Pushpa? It’s playing all over town, not just the theater that traditionally shows them. Looks like fun.
Is that the one about the Dr. Doolittle animal?
-
On tonight's menu: meatloaf surprise!
The surprise is no meat?
-
Rehab said that was no problem, BUT one way or another I will be out of here tomorrow.
Your decision or theirs?
Their decision.

True...I went to Fred Meyer and was planning on just going back home, but my mom called, so my plans changed after I had posted my original plans.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I'm feeling lethargy, oh, yes, I'm feeling lethargy, but I have some blurbs to write for upcoming releases.
-
Tomorrow, most libraries won't open until noon.
-
Whether we open or not, I need to go because a co-worker and I have to sign some documents so that payments can be made by the end of the week, which is also the end of the month, which is also the end of the year.
-
If the building is officially closed, we'll do what we need, which shouldn't take too long, then leave.
-
If the building does open at noon, we'll just stay and work however long we each will work...she normally comes into work three hours earlier than I do.
-
For any time that we aren't able to work because the building is closed, we get to use "Emergency Leave," so that we still get a full salary.
-
If the building is closed, and for some weather-related reason we're not able to make it to work, we can use "Inclement Weather" leave.
-
That has a cap of 16 hours per year, and any unused Inclement Weather does not roll over into the next year, like vacation or sick leave.
-
Use of Emergency Leave is decided by the admin, so it has no cap, since we employees have no control over whether a building is closed or not...unless you're one of the admin who does have control over that decision. ;)
-
Either way, I'll need to go to work for at least a while tomorrow.
-
Well, I just figured out that this will probably my last night on here for a time. My sister and brother-in-law don’t have WiFi at their house. And since I can’t jump in a car and drive to the McDonald’s parking lot, I am out of luck!
-

Oh, no! How long do you think you'll be off the grid...Internet-wise??
