Well, you've read the notes, the notes were twelve-tone notes in the atonal style, and now it is time for you to post until the twelve-tone cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: YEN!
-
Good morning to everyone.
-
I hope George is OK because he usually is the first poster!
-
Good morning, all!
-
It was freezing in the apartment last night. Annabelle spent most of the night next to me, buried under blankets. As I type this, she sleeps on my computer table in an empty Fancy Feast carton. Thatch found someplace warm to sleep in the apartment, and Stella spent part of the night lying next to me as well.
-
Today, after radiation, I have my usual Wednesday session with Dr Blacksburg, my radiologist. We have much to discuss.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
bk, I truly enjoyed your description of the music of
Andrew Lloyd Webber Anton Webern.
-
Also, CONGRATULATIONS on doing the deal!!
-
:)

Pip the Beach Cat lives in Maryland, but one of his parents is Polish and the family is ion Poland for several months. Here's a shot of Pip in his carrier with his Daddy and then a photo of Pip and Daddy sledding down a hill while Pip's Mommy sleds behind holding his carrier. He's a much braver little boy than my Thatch.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Too much to do today.
-
Lots to do.
Very little incentive to do it.
Good morrow, gentle folk.
-
Meow...
-
I was wrong about last night's low temperature. It actually got down to 31 degrees, but it is now 36 degrees. I am promised lots of sun and a high of 59 degrees for today.
-
I am only 15 minutes out of bed. I slept beautifully.
It's really nice to be able to do that again!
-
Am having my first cup of coffee. I usually have only one, but lately have indulged in a second cup. It gets cold quickly when I am also typing and thinking of what to type.
-
Good morning, all.
-
We are having a lovely mid-winter sun and thaw week here. A truly welcome respite.
-
Wishing DR Elmore a good radiology visit today.
-
It’s supposed to reach 73 today. To reference a Bob Merrill lyric, I look forward to drying my tears with the sun on my face.
-
I love the Bob Merrill reference.
I like the sun.
I sometimes sun sneeze, though.
Anyone else sun sneeze?
-
Does anyone else here have a mattress warmer on their bed?
It's one of the greatest things I've ever found.
Even when it is super cold, the bed can be pre-warmed to be luxuriously inviting.
It's not a blanket. It's a mattress cover. There are electronic controls that can sit on your bedside table. You control the degree of warmth with a dial.
Oooh....it's just wonderful!!!
-
We did our fair share of Webern in school. I still have a few scores and that Robert Craft box which I'm sure I haven't touched in ... 50 years? I don't remember one note of it now. Of course one note was a major part of one piece, right? This post is already longer than a few of those pieces, and BK came up with better ones than I ever will, so I shall stop right here.
-
John Cage...anyone?
-
I'm a sun sneezer from way back. And an eye squinter, which I remember being from our first few months in Florida in 1960. Sneezing, squinting, and I also can't abide eating in direct sunlight, indoors or out. Take that, you bad old sun!
-
I daresay Pip the Beach Cat has none of those issues. Look how contented he is in that carrier. And he's not sneezing. Or squinting.
-
John Cage...anyone?
Well, he wrote that one piece that is quite lovely. Here's a particularly inspired performance:

Yes. Absolute perfection!
I have wondered, at times, if this is what inspired Paul Simon's "The Sounds of Silence".

My coworker Krista does.

I am missing half of this post on my phone. Strange.
-
Now I see it. Couldn’t see the link before.
-
I listen to John Cage a lot - even without a CD or radio.
-
Congrats to MR BK on the news yesterday. Interesting.
-
Feel better vibes for DR TCB.
-
My computer tells me it is 36 degrees, but my thermostat tells me it is 44 degrees.
-
Speaking of Webern: the web radio is currently playing Arnold Schoenberg's Friede auf Erden. Not much joy there.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Did you ever work at the 1040 N. Las Palmas studio?
-
It’s supposed to reach 73 today.
-
and thinking of what to type.
Aye, there's the rub!
-
DR JEANNE that version of La Mer was lovely - and I loved the group and their clothes and how they worked together....such fun.
Reminded me of The Fendertones and their version of The Monkey's Uncle by TSB - such fun the listen to and watch.

Another bout of hyperventilation!!
Dang it!
This time it was caused by my trying to dislodge some congestion that had my throat wheezing with each breath.
My breathing was fine, but the wheeze was driving me crazy.
So I coughed and coughed (too strenuously, obviously) and the next thing i knew I had set off the hyperventilation.
Outdoors I went and sat in the sun while I did some deep controlled breathing.
This is NOT something I want to get used to.
-
I have taken a Mucinex tablet, We shall see what we shall see.
-
Does anyone have someone like this?
-
From John:
I ushered for Disney Princess tonight. There were about 1,000 there, many not even four feet high. They were dressed in their princess costumes and had a ball.
Awww, cute :)
-
DR TCB, sending vibes that your car is NOT stolen!
-

73 degrees sounds heavenly to me.
-
I am relieved we might hit 50 degrees today and not having freezing temps as when they replaced the first two of our windows. Today they are replacing the last three.
-
We aren't actually getting new windows. They just have to remove them to fix the broken seals and replace the windows we already have.
-

Cool. I just wear warm pajama's and use flannel sheets. I was looking at a mattress that had a foot warmer.
-
Well, this is odd:

I wonder if BK might fire up his HVAC.

I am sorry. If, and hopefully it doesn't, you might try breathing into a paper bag. Try putting one in a convenient place at home and maybe one in your car.

Ask BK (or anyone who might have a recommendation):
I need a good set of speakers for my laptop. Everything I have found is either inadequate, soundwise, or requires RCA inputs on my laptop, which I don't have.
I have one set of Cambridge Masterworks speakers on my laptop in my den, and they are perfect. But I have other laptops in other rooms, and the sound those laptops produce just isn't satsifactory.

Gratuitous post number one.

The John Doyle production of ASSASSINS is getting a cast album.
Did anyone see or hear any of it? I have no interest, but do tell me if you believe there's something about it worth checking out.

Vibes for DR RON PULLIAM.

I hope George is OK because he usually is the first poster!
Thanks, Michel. Everything's fine. Just zonked out and stayed zonked out. ;)

To my mind, Judy Kuhn in the cast would make it worth a listen. Whether I buy it is another matter.

I love Judy Kuhn! I also really like some of the other performers, so I'll definitely be getting this one.

This was one of my most horrible and humiliating days at Lenox Hill. I am glad to be home.

I'm up, I'm up - nine and a half hours of sleep - got up at noon and dealing with a lot o' stuff.

Sorry, DR elmore3003. {{{hugs}}}
In a few weeks, this will be behind you.
-
It's a shame the Harper Lee estate has to bear all this, because you know it was Rudin and Sorkin threatening the estate every step of the way.
-
true MR BK and you know they'll run away as fast as they can....
Thanks for posting the link DR ELMORE. I am happy that Dramatic Publishing prevailed.
Especially since I don't work in a "first class" theeder.
-
Vibes for a better tomorrow for DR ELMORE.
-
It seems that the men's long will start tonight about 8:30 on USA network and switch over to the big network at 10 p.m. or so.
-
That’s certainly what appeared to be the case two years ago, that Rudin was the bastard behind all of it who was pulling the strings.
-
I played a few small parts in a production of CACTUS FLOWER and one of my characters kept coming into the record store where the lead actress worked and demanding where the hell is the Webern I ordered?
It's sounds a lot funnier than it was......

I think DR John missed my question. Did you read The Sweetness of Water?
-
The window people postponed until tomorrow morning. We are ok with that.
-
Finished writing my sequence on the project with David Wechter, so we'll Zoom at five-thirty.
-

Meanwhile, the awards ceremony for the team competition is on hold while the ISU considers some issues that may put the eligibility of one of the Russian skaters in question. Has to do with doping, if the reporting is close to the mark. The skater in question is the female, Kalima Valiyeva, who made skating history with one of her jumps. The ROC is an Olympics-approved cover for the Russian federation which is on probation for doping of its athletes. Reports are that the Russians still aren't complying. If the doping charge is prosecuted, the ROC may forfeit their medal.
What this will mean, of course, is unknown at the moment. Kaliyeva is favored to win the Gold.
And the Chinese press is having a field day criticizing Uzuru Hanyu's claim of a hole in the ice causing him to miss a jumping element in his short program. The Chinese are apparently very proud of their ice and think Hanyu is just seeking an excuse.
-
A hole in the ice! :o
-
'night
-
They have an ice hole??
-
They have an ice hole??
:))

I think DR John missed my question. Did you read The Sweetness of Water?
I did read it. I enjoyed it, too.
-
Onward!

Four!

Watching the last half hour of Dune. Meh. One joke in a 2.5-hour movie. I don’t even find it visually appealing. I did like Charlotte Rampling.
-
This was one of my most horrible and humiliating days at Lenox Hill. I am glad to be home.
Vibes and hugs, my friend.
-
I have a cyst and a doctor’s appointment tomorrow in order to see what I have to do about it.
-
Tonight I filled out a 5-page, new patient pdf and the darn thing won’t save.
-
I hope this won’t interfere with my trip Saturday. But there’s nothing I can do.
-
I haven’t gotten to the part in Dune where grown men ride earthworms. But it’s coming up.
-
Scott Rudin should have been singled out for more shame.
-
A two-bit Harvey Weinstein.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
Boy, that Zendaya is some actress.
-
Long may she work at improving.
-
If Katharine Hepburn’s range ran the gamut from A to B, as Dorothy Parker wrote, then Zendaya barely manages to make it to A.
-
Well, I wasn’t expecting that ending after having seen the David Lynch version. But so what?
-
It's late, and I'm plum tuckered out.
-
Lucky #105
-
Good night, friends.
-
Good night, Singdaw.
-
To rinse the taste of Dune from my beak, I have started The French Dispatch. Twee. Totally Wes Anderson. And occasionally funny. Tilda Swinton is magnificent.
The rest of the movie is very uneven. Benicio del Toro is good, Owen Wilson is not. And so on.
-
In a cast of stars, Lois Smith as Ma Clampette steals her scenes with the style of real pro. Bless her, she made me guffaw.
-
But I am fading.
-
It's time for dreams.
-
Hopefully good ones.
-
And good dreams for us all.
-
Good night, all.
-
Ice in the Hole - isn't that a Billy Wilder movie?
-
Had a good Zoom, then once again tried to watch something but couldn't concentrate.

Feel better vibes for DR TCB.
Thank you, Jrand.

Does anyone have someone like this?
When I worked for the welfare office in Puyallup, a lot of us would go out for lunch for birthdays, retirements, etc. Often we would go to Shakey’s Pizza because they had an okay buffet for a good price.
-
One of my co-workers, who didn’t believe in tipping in restaurants, would take a plastic baggie with her and would fill it with fried chicken from the buffet. I made sure I never sat close to her.
-
It seems that the men's long will start tonight about 8:30 on USA network and switch over to the big network at 10 p.m. or so.
I started watching the long program on Peacock, but I quickly realized that I missed the info from the commentators. Since I don’t know the difference between a loop and a solchow, nor can I tell a triple and a quad, I was totally lost.
-
So, I waited for the NBC coverage.
-
Ice in the Hole - isn't that a Billy Wilder movie?
That was going to be the title of James Cameron’s TITANIC.
-
Boy, that Zendaya is some actress.
Long may she work at improving.

I just woke from a nice, short nap. ::)
-
We may get to 60 degrees by this weekend.
-
I’m just trying to rub it in to those who have snow or freezing temperatures!
-
We may get to 60 degrees by this weekend.
Nice!
-
I'm ushering on both Saturday and Sunday.
-
My niece wanted me to come over this weekend to help with her chicken coop, but I'm (fortunately) already busy.
-
She's getting a couple of more chickens from some neighbors who are moving, so she needs to do some things to get ready to take them.
-
So instead, I'm going to see about taking a day of during the week next week.
-
I need to take time off anyway, so this'll be a reason.
-
It doesn't matter to my niece which day I take off and come over to help, but earlier in the week is probably better for her.
-
She's getting a couple of more chickens from some neighbors who are moving, so she needs to do some things to get ready to take them.
Maybe Col. Sanders could give her a hand.
-

My niece, of course, would NOT appreciate the joke! ;)

I wonder if anyone here has watched REACHER.

I am just glad they cast an actor who is taller than five feet.

Do you think that BK has moved to a different time zone?
-
I should do two more posts.
-
Or maybe one more post.
-
Well regardless, here's the last one on THIS page!
-
BINGO!
-
AND you reached a celebratory plateau! ;D
-
Thank you.

That is what I was going for. To hell with the page turn.

I wonder if I can get to 95000 by the end of tomorrow?

I was kidding. It isn’t.

Good night.

Good night, Tom.
