Well, you've read the notes, the notes did the Can-Can, and now it is time for you to post until the Can-Can Cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WEND!
-
A crowd of 600+ at the show tonight. And they were ready to be entertained. Really a lot of fun.
This post was in the midst of George’s “Report from OLT.” I thought this was George’s post, and I was like, “Wait a minute, I have been to that theater and there is NO WAY you can get 600 people in that building.”

Well, you could if everyone was stacked on each other. ::)
;D

Today, I'm going to usher for the matinee performance of Harlequin Productions' production of Murder for Two (https://harlequinproductions.org/show/murder-for-two/), the one-act musical with two actors, four piano-playing hands and 13 characters. :)
-
After that but before I go to the show I'm running sound for, I'm going to my mom's to help her repackage a Vitamix that she wants to return. Hopefully, she kept all of the packaging.
-
Then after tonight's show, we're having a cast party at the stage manager's house.
-
Sunday will be our final performance and strike...then in a week, I start rehearsals for Mamma Mia! Can't wait for that! ;D
-
Good morning, all!
-
The alarm rang at 5:30 and I said to Thatch, who was lying next to me, "Let's sleep a little more." At 6:30 I woke.
-
I dreamed I was working at Goodspeed. My friend Ben Davis was ibn the cast and it was the day after the season closed. There was horse racing, of all things, there was some rivalry between two ladies over the affections of Ben, and one of them pulled "her" horse from the race, the one Ben was going to ride. I think I suggested to the other lady that she offer Ben her horse, and I think he won. Then I had to pack up my possessions and move back to NYC. My roommate at Goodspeed was Eddie Weinstein, with whom I went to school, grades 1-12 and whom I have not thought about since 1964!
-
The night before, I dreamed that my book Annabelle & Thatch was published and illustrated by Charles Schulz. I still would prefer Hillary Knight to illustrate.
-
DR Laura, enjoy the show!
-
In my mind's eye, Wae-Ling will always be a little girl living down the street from you.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Today I get hauled off to jail with Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart. I hope the warden is kind.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Windy City vibes, ChasSmith.
-
BK, did you decide on a cover? If you told us, I missed it.
-
Kitty cleanup is finished, and the bed is made. I still have my basement-mail pickup treks to accomplish before my daily chores are over.
-
A gracious good morning.
-
We have a lake wind advisory in effect until 7 p.m. I have zero idea how bad that is, but it likely affects only those folks who do boating on the lakes.
Our high today will be 74 degrees, and our low tonight is expected to drop to 43 degrees.
Skies will be partly cloudy. Right now, they are overcast.
-
On the artistic front...
-
I was awakened this morning by the telephone.
When I said, "Hello", an assertive male voice said, "Barbara?"
I took a beat and then brusquely asked the man if I sounded like a "Barbara".
He said, "No. No message. Have a nice day." He then hung up.
My mother was Barbara. This man was not an acquaintance and had no idea that she would be 92 if she were alive.
If he had asked to speak to Mrs. Pulliam, I would have been more kind in my reply to him.
-
Gosh! It's just me and zero guests here right now.
I feel so isolated.
-
If you were Norman Bates, the question would not be so far-fetched.
-
That reminded me of an episode of "Our Gang". I don't recall exactly what happened, but Buckwheat was in bed, shivering, and a doctor found he was encased in ice cubs. He asked the mother why she had put ice around his body.
She replied, "You told me to ice-o-late him".
I guess that wouldn't be seen as anything remotely PC today, but it was a funny play on the word.
-
I guess I should wend my way into the kitchen and brew a cup of coffee.
It won't take but a few minutes. If anyone drops by before I get back, sit a spell and wait for my return.
-
I need to get up and face the day.
-
But first …
-
Two!
-
...for tea?
-
I made a nice, strong cup of coffee. Used Panera Dark Roast k-cup.
It's quite aromatic, too.
-
If you were Norman Bates, the question would not be so far-fetched.
Perhaps not, but Norman would have had words with the caller for being so disrespectful as to use his mother's first name.
-
I spy George and John G both.
-
Yikes.
-
Oh my gosh. I never wished you all good night last night and, what's to boot, never logged out.
Well, good morning, friends.
-
:)
-
The curmudgeons at HHW notwithstanding. ;)
-
I'm going to wrassle me up some buttermilk pancakes, I think.
-
Saturday.
-
Long rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Ending Saturday vibes for DR GEORGE.

TOD:
I liked to do the dances that I saw on American Bandstand - and of course my sister and I were featured dancers on a local version of the show for about four weeks.
Our career was nipped in the bud when the host suggested that my sister needed to wear her skirts much shorter.
-
Windy City vibes, ChasSmith.
That's a different show (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Windy-City-1982-Original-London-Cast/1481/), John.
;)
-
I literally just now found out that it's actually two completely different shows (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Windy-City-Studio-Cast/45194/)!
Who knew??

I spy George and John G both.
I has been spied upon. ;)

Ending Saturday vibes for DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jrand!

Well, I fell asleep with all the lights on (again), so I'm now going to take a little nap before I have to get up to get ready to usher for a matinee.
Have a good day, all!
-
It is now time to visit the postal office to see if anyone has sent me anything.
One never knows. In the four-and-a-half years that I have been here, my post office box has been empty maybe four times. Of course, not everything put in that box is worth receiving. But, still....
-
I also feel it is time to find something to munch upon.
I could go to the Triangle and get something. Or, I could wait until noon and go to 3rd Generation for a nice meal.
Or, I could drive over to Edgefield and avail myself of Park Row No. 1 or the Pool Room.
Whatever shall I do?
-
Decisions, decisions.
It's not like there is nothing in my kitchen to munch upon.
Lord knows.
Still, it's always fun when someone else cooks.
-
The curmudgeons at HHW notwithstanding. ;)
Exactly.

You, too.
-
Ooh! Ooh! One guest is viewing this topic. I wonder who it could be.
-
:)
If only they weren't all staying inside because of the rain.
-
I guess I can do this on my own, unless someone wants to help.
-
It takes only a few more posts.
-
And I never shy away from verbal diarrhea.
-
Let us wend our way over to...
-
...Page 3
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep. Must get ready and then be on my way to the mail place and then rehearsal - we'll now be missing four cast members less than a week before tech.
-

;)
I'm glad you got that, George.

I have returned to A Tale of Two Cities. It's most bizarre. The box refers to a film version with Dirk Bogarde. This is actually a TV production with Wendell Corey. It was produced on The Plymouth Playhouse and all of the original commercials are included.
-
Judith Evelyn makes a most deliciously wicked Mme. Defarge.
-
My favorite version of A Tale of Two Cities is the Franch Revolution bicentennial production of the BBC-PBS, with Jean-Pierre Aumont as Dr. Manette.

Would love to see it. I wonder if the library has it.
-
Not at the library. But they have the musical version. Ouch.
-
:)
-
Bad dog...
-
I went to Park Row No. 1 in Edgefield for my lunch.
I had a bowl of chicken and dumplings. Quite tasty.

It has a great cast. I love it! I love Anna Massey as Miss Pross.

I just watched the 2018 film of Chekhov's The Sea Gull, starring Annette Bening, which is one of my favorite plays. It needs to be seen on a big screen in a dark theatre. It wasn't bad, because Bening plays the awful woman wonderfully - conceited, narcissistic, cheap, stingy,, manipulative - and it's a hard part because a lot of actresses look for ways to make the audience like them. The only other names in the cast I recognized were Brian Dennehy as her dying brother, Elizabeth Moss as the bitter, alcoholic Masha, and Mare Winningham as her mother, Paulina, who's having an affair with the doctor played by Jon Tenney. I had forgotten how much frustrated love there is in the play.

I enjoyed parts of the movie, as I recall. But nothing will cap seeing Joanne Wooward on stage.

My cellphone tells me that I have a missed call. From Ireland.
Perhaps the leprechauns are calling to tell me that they found my missing pot o' gold?

:)

Has anyone read Hanya Yanagihara?
-
Read it? I can't even say it.

Your cat scan came back...

From Ron:
I know. Until the house is out of probate (meaning no claims have been made and its ownership is legalized), NOBODY GETS NOTHING because it hasn't been settled yet.
Do not yield on this. When you know EXACTLY how much money you have to actually portion out to the heirs, they get nothing.
I agree with Ron. Often I know people who have held back a final payment just to be sure there weren't any surprises.

I haven't.

As we headed out for an afternoon walk it began to drizzle. I am very glad I ran back inside for my raincoat. It quickly began to hail, and then it was raining & hailing (frozen rain?) at the same time.

That's funny! :))

Well, Murder for Two is over and was very good! The two performers (one male, one female) both played the piano and sang and acted quite well! I'm very glad I got to usher for it.

Stepan, the Ukraine's most famous cat, is safe in Paris.

Now, I need to go to Costco for my sister, then I'll go to my mom's to help her with her product return (if it's not too late), then I'll be off to work the sound board, then we'll have the cast party! It's gonna be a full day, for sure! ;D
-
Party vibes for DR GEORGE & co.
-
I have seen the Dirk Bogarde TOTC....which I liked although Miss Pross is NOT given her due..... But we do get the final guillotine sound which we don't get in the Ronald Colman version.
-
Page 4.
-
Not particularly interested in any of the teams playing in the NCAA tonight....both Purdue and Notre Dame are playing tomorrow.
The Notre Dame Leprechaun is not a BIG costume, but a guy dressed in a leprechaun suit and he is most enjoyable. Thursday, on St Patrick's Day, when they played he and the cheerleaders did a very nice Irish jig..... Fun!
-
Back from rehearsal - we did as much as we could with HALF the cast out. Ridiculous, and I will never again cast people with these kinds of conflicts EVER. So, we did as much as we could, I did detail work on the show's big monologue, and we ran some problem things over and over. Our choreographer came by and did what she needed to do for one number. She'll be back for our optional Monday rehearsal - although four of the missing cast are NOT optional for Monday, since these four have missed so many rehearsals. The choreographer has two things to do on Monday. Happily, she watched my staging of one of the new numbers and loved it.
-
Stopped at the fried catfish place and got that, some mac-and-cheese, and a small corn on the cob - all great.
-
Party vibes for DR GEORGE & co.
Thanks, Jrand!

I think at one time I knew Nat King Cole's wife was a singer.
Maria Hawkins (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2GBOT7ejoU)
-
DR Jeanne I hope you are continuing to feel better and have more energy.
-
Good evening.
-
Tootsie was silly fun. Definitely not an F-.
That critic hates everything at Gammage.
Gammage's sound system is notoriously awful. I do wish I could have understood more of the song lyrics.
-
I am glad you went and enjoyed it. Having low expectations probably added to your fun ;)
-
Too bad that they can't do surtitles or something.
-
My goodness, DR George. I'm exhausted reading that schedule. I try not to schedule not more than one thing each day. But of course, I hardly ever go out.
-
'night
-
Good night, DR Jane.
-
:)
-
Greens, greens, and nothing but greens.
-
Well just a few more.
-
I think I can manage that.
-
Without too much effort.
-
FIVE!!!!!
-
Well, no one ever said I was good at math.
-
So it's not FIVE.
-
It's UN-Five.
-
It's FIVE light.
-
It's FIVE junior.
-
It's FIVE lacking.
-
It's FIVE on a diet.
-
Read it? I can't even say it.
You know, I can’t either, but I’ve started her very long novel, To Paradise, and I love it. The first third is a gay rewrite of Henry James’s Washington Square. It’s set in 1893. Part two is 1993. Part three, as I understand it, is in 2093.
-
What is this page FOUR malarkey?
-
FIVE?
-
Yes!!!!
-
Sounds interesting, DR John G.
-
I can't do the CAN-CAN.
-
Do I hear a waltz?
-
I used to do the Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz skip/hop thing.
-
I wonder how that would go over on the dance floor?
-
Good night, friends.
-
My goodness, DR George. I'm exhausted reading that schedule. I try not to schedule not more than one thing each day. But of course, I hardly ever go out.
I WISH I could schedule only one thing per day, but as the saying goes, "Life is what happens when you're making other plans."
-
A friend of mine sent this to me:
-
;D
-
I wonder how that would go over on the dance floor?
If you were dancing with Munchkins, it might be OK.
-
I love to dance most any dance, even the ones I used to not like until I learned them a little better.
But my favorites nowadays are tango, hustle, waltz, quickstep and, of course, the Twist.
-
Watching a weird one that just came in to the library: Strange Lady in Town. Greer Garson is the first woman doctor in Santa Fe. Dana Andrews is Rork. According to the poster, "She was the one woman Rork didn't want in Santa Fe ... but he'd kill anybody who'd try to make her leave ..."
A very young Lois Smith is quite wonderful. The theme song, well sung by Frankie Laine, was a hoot. "Strange lady, strange lady ..."
-
I think this the first western I can think of with a rendition of Ave Maria in it.

I saw Dana Andrews give a perfect performance earlier this week in The Best Years of Our Lives. He's sadly uninteresting as a male chauvinist in this western.

I've had all of this Strange Lady I can take in one night.
-
Good night, all.
-
It's already tomorrow here in South Carolina.
Many of you are in the last throes of Saturday, but Sunday is on its way.
And, it's the FIRST DAY OF SPRING!
-
I watched two TCM movies tonight in their entirety. They are doing their 31 Days of Oscar scheduling, and this afternoon and evening I watched "Gandhi" from start to finish (my first complete viewing of it, I must admit), and then I watched "Out of Africa" (my 16th or 17th viewing).
I think Ben Kingsley was marvelous as "Gandhi", and the story was very interesting. Not a movie I'd want to see start-to-finish again, perhaps.
"Out of Africa" is one of my top five favorite films.
-
And we're done! Only tonight's cast party and tomorrow's matinee, then it's over!
-
I won't be back until I get home, which might be after midnight, but we'll see. :)
-
Has anyone read Hanya Yanagihara?
I had to wear one when I was an usher at a Jewish wedding.
-

Gonzaga played tonight. It turned out to be a great finish of a game.

Tootsie was silly fun. Definitely not an F-.
That critic hates everything at Gammage.
Gammage's sound system is notoriously awful. I do wish I could have understood more of the song lyrics.
Doesn’t the theater have headphones available for the hearing impaired?
-
I won’t dance, don’t ask me.
