We were going to keep them home but it’s a “hot lunch” day and they didn’t want to miss.
And I am thankful for you, friends!
I can't remember very far at all.

Recalling some silly discussions of whether Julie Andrews as MILLIE was saying "I had Tapioca for pudding" or "Tapioca p-pudding"
I don't know, but I think DR Laura had better bake a LOT of rolls!

It sure sounds like "p-pudding" but feel sure it was just "for pudding."
And I am thankful for you, friends!
If it's a virtual dinner, is it proper etiquette to just use photos of rolls?

I just saw a recipe online for eel poke cake.

Tough call. Could be an artifact from a bad edit.
And pie.
Many kinds of pie. 😊

Welcome back, DR Iris!
I’m taking 3 pies to Thanksgiving dinner for 4 people.
Jane, I have never made a roll cake. Somehow, I think it would turn out to be a disaster.
I plan to eat extremely sparingly. Although if there is pie, all bets are off.
The pan is tipped out on to a cloth covered in powdered sugar. I tipped it too hard and it hit the cloth with a loud bang.
Still, it rolled half decently with the cream cheese frosting.
Fingers crossed it doesn't fall apart when we cut it.
You should see the mess I make with those royal icing cookies.
Yes three pies for four people sounds a bit light.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! Regular school day in Canada for my kidlets.

After school we’ll go to Vancouver for a nice meal and stay at a hotel.
Hello, HHW!
Wishing everyone a Thanksgiving filled with all the things that bring you joy.
I have, apparently, had sufficient sleep since I've been awake since about 4:30 a.m.
My DH's favorite food group was "Sugar," which finally caught up with him a couple of years ago. He gave up all carbs except fruit. Fruit is ok because it is a complex carb.
So no soda, chocolate, sugar in coffee or tea, pasta, potatoes, or bread. But he ate LOTS of fruit.
His numbers came down nicely.
And thus endeth the Unsolicited Advice.

There's a young chef I watch on Youtube. He posted some easier than pie desserts for Thanksgiving. He said his MIL always brings a Pumpkin Crunch for dinner.
He's amazed and says the science of it doesn't work. And he loves it.
It's just a dump cake. Something most moms probably know. Or at least moms who bake.
Well, Jane, that describes my kitchen any time the powered sugar container is open.

Vibes that it doesn't fall apart!

Well, goddam it all to hell! My Thanksgiving dinner just arrived, courtesy of Joshie, which was very kind and generous of him. Everything is nicely packed in jars and containers, only there's one problem: a packing list "Thanksgiving reheat instructions."
I have to cook the fucking meal!
I'm ready to throw it all out.
Speaking of Wicked, my friend Canadian playwright Brad Fraser (Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love) just gave Wicked a rave review on Facebook. I guess Winnie Holzman has put back into the screenplay much of the book's political plotliones, so that makes me very happy.
George, Kevin, and Jrand, Keith also got Wordle in four.

George, that's a great-looking pie in the posts last night. Vibes it tastes as good as it looks!

George, your pie last night looked great.

Happy Thanksgiving all! It's just my sister, my wife and I for Thanksgiving as in most years, so we have roast duck instead of turkey.
Lovely pie photos from DRs George and John G!
Oh, look! It's Page Seven at 11:00 (in the morning)!!
I made the cranberry sauce with Pinot Noir last night. A Bon Appetit recipe my stepmother sent me where you cook the cranberries in 2/3 a bottle of Pinot Noir. Best cranberry sauce ever IMHO.
Meal #1 down. It was very good. And I really only had a bite or two of each thing. So I am not uncomfortably full.
Lovely pie photos from DRs George and John G!
DR elmore3003, I have had those meals before. Everything is cooked. You are just putting it in the oven to heat everything up. I hoe you don't throw it all out.
Oh, look! It's Page Seven at 11:00 (in the morning)!!
Nothing's more like heaven than to post here on Page Seven in the morning
(or something like that :) )
Except now it's page 8!
Mexican food for Thanksgiving sounds good to me.
I used Martha Stewart's pate brisee recipe for the pie crust. I must admit it tasted pretty darn good. But the real clincher was that Joy, who doesn't know about such things, ate all of the crust, which is something she never does.
Hoo and ray for happy endings and good neighbors!
And a jumbo shrimp!
I hope we get seated right away and that we can go to the buffet right away.
Happy Thanksgiving, friends! Regular school day in Canada for my kidlets.
Do you now celebrate Canada's Thanksgiving as well as our's?
After school we’ll go to Vancouver for a nice meal and stay at a hotel.
I like your celebration. Will you be keeping them out of school or is it closed tomorrow?
If it's fully cooked turkey, you could still eat it room temperature.
I had a Maltby milk ball once whilst visiting the Shire.
At 6:03 p.m. it is DARK here.....and there are some neighborly homes with Christmas lights blazing.
It is most fun to look at.
Doggie Precious used to enjoy looking at the Christmas light from the back door and the front door......
Meaty Mexican Dishes - that's the title of my next novel.
There were many dishes neither of us tried.
And certainly no eel.
Did you try it, John G?
Again, I ate in moderation.
DR JANE I really like your Thanksgiving illustration.
ope you get good news on the roll up cutting!

Back in October we did.
The pumpkin roll stayed together and my story entertained everyone :)

BK and I met at the Sherman Oaks El Torito. It was pretty busy. Lots of food, both traditional dishes and Mexican. Lots. The food was better than last year when we ate at the location in Santa Monica, which has now closed. I like having a buffet and virtually everyone can find something they like here.
We dished, which since we’re both seniors includes health issues. That’s what seniors do.

Yup ;D
I had salad, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn casserole, broccoli, cheese enchiladas, Spanish rice, pinto beans, and fresh fruit. I’m stuffed! No dessert except the fruit. It was good.

Aw, yes. The Organ Recital.
I am so glad your dessert worked out, DR Jane.
And Aunt Sassy made her concoctions that only she eats.
Grandson helped make the whipped cream. He had a great time running the mixer. We put the whipped cream in a piping bag, and he had a swell time piping it onto the dump cake.
Has anyone here ever made a yule log?

I nominate John G. to make a Yule Log this season and post a photo for us.
Has anyone here ever made a yule log?
Nope.
I may have posted this one already.

I would like to go to Vixmom's house for dinner. She always has an amazing spread. My house is tiny , how about we go to Chas’ house, I’ll cook and you bake

What? No photographs of FOOD???
The website clock is like 8 minutes fast.
That's not FOOD. That's dessert.
I have no idea why the clock is like that - I'll ask to have it fixed come Monday.
A nice even number, 20.
