Well, you've read the notes, the notes were frenzied, and now it is time for you to post until the frenzied cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TARANTELLA!
-
Isn't he a director? Quentin Tarantella?

Good morning, all.

Off to work.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well. The weather's getting warmer, and it's about time to remove the quilt, lauinder the bedding, and de-winterize it. I've been putting it off, because I keep expecting at least one more period of freezing weather.
-
I just watched the Goodwin and Mancini scores for the opening of Frenzy, one of my favorite Hitchcock films. I like Mancini's score better because it sets up at once the sinister mood of a film about a serial killer, and we expect with that title and Hitchcock it's going to be a somewhat sinister movie. Goodwin's music, which sounds more like something a band would play at the ceremony in the opening sequence on the Thames rather than a film with a serial killer and comic interludes sounds more "Welcome to London!"

Amazon Fresh, to be delivered between 6:00 and 8:00a.m., arrived at 6:15! I had just begun dishing out the Fancy Feast when the delivery man rang my bell. I didn't expect it for another 45 minutes. The delivery time is usually 7:00-7:30.
-
I hope to do laundry this morning. We'll see,
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Hope DR Laura made it to Las Vegas and got enough rest.
-
MINT JULEPS for all! It's Derby Day!
-
It’s also election day and last day of Fiesta.
-
I want Journalism to win the derby.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Well, the big day has finally arrived.
I feel like I've been in Foggy Bikini Bottom Under a Sea for the better part of a year, and today is ... MY VERY LAST DAY THERE.
A matinee (which, I must say, ain't no Pinter play), then getting well fed by parents who do a bang-up job of providing a wonderful buffet in between, and the closing performance. A few minutes of par-tay-ing afterwards, and I'll be outta there.
-
Have you ever been so exhausted and desperate for sleep that you actually can't fall asleep?
It had been years since I'd last experienced that, but it happened to me last night. I had to force myself to lie down and concentrate on the soft music from the classical station until my body finally relaxed enough to drop off. And then I gave myself an extra hour and a half this morning. Because I needed it. And now I'm beginning to feel human again, which somebody should make into a song.
-
Feeling human again in Soggy Bottom.
It sings.
-
I shall examine the FRENZY evidence later today.
-
I have discovered a couple of rare Allison Hayes performances on YouTube.
I watch Sovereign Citizen traffic stops although they irritate me.
And stupid guilty people who fight the police when they are caught doing illegal things.
-
Looking forward to the Frenzy examples, which I'll be able to take the time tomorrow to enjoy.
The oh-so-British pompous and staid (to my ears) main title music was a bit of a put-off on my seeing the film opening night at the Cinerama Dome. I was okay with his scoring of the more suspenseful set pieces in the movie, but even there I'd wished for better.

Surviving the day vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
-
DR singdaw that's a nice pie-annie.
-
From DR Singdaw:
Tonight at dinner, my brother-in-law was playing with his latest toy: the iFart app.
It has a large sound library of... well, I'm sure you can guess.
;D
-
Most at the table were not amused.
:))
-
DR Singdaw I hope you are very happy with your new piano.

George, who is the hillbilly from Kentucky? Is he someone you regularly follow?
From George:
I don't follow a hillbilly from Kentucky. I'm sorry, but I don't know about whom you are referring. Did I post a video from this person? :-\
The guy you posted saying "This should be fine" (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GSweMRkUcbU)called himself a hillbilly from Kentucky. I don't know his name.
-
DR Laura I hope you made it to Vegas last night.
-
Have you ever been so exhausted and desperate for sleep that you actually can't fall asleep?
Often, way too often.

Surviving the day vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.

Remember Alfie, the lost British cat in Gloucestershire? He is dead. His body has been found. Knowing how much I would mourn the loss of one of mine, I'm sure his mum is completely devastated.
-
That’s horrible.
-
DR singdaw, what’s the first thing you will play when your new piano is set up?
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe eight hours of sleep.

Great! Congratulations!

"Vegas Can Be Murder" has landed in Manhattan Plaza.
Good work, US Post Office!
-
And it has landed in Indiana as well!
-
DR singdaw I was hoping you would play Tchaik's first piano concerto in B flat Minor.....my favorite since I heard Mr. Van Cliburn play it on the Ed Sullivan show.
I was nine years old and you were not yet born.
-
Ummm... I could try. There might be a few notes missing.
-
Vegan Can Be Murder has also landed here in the Midwest today. Looks so spiffy! Love the extra gift, too.
-
Yes the gift was most excellent.
-
Missing notes? Few would notice.
-
DR singdaw does your new apartment have better views?
I am assuming it is bigger and has more space.
Will you put a wooden "D" on the wall?
-
Oops, sorry, the extra gift got caught in the envelope.
Yes, it's quite wonderful!!!
-
DR singdaw does your new apartment have better views?
I am assuming it is bigger and has more space.
Will you put a wooden "D" on the wall?
;D
It is almost twice the size of the current one. It's on the same floor, so the view isn't different, although there are more windows and it has southern exposure, so there will be a lot of light.
I'll get back to you on the "D"! :)

Ooh, in the name of filling in posts - Can I "sneak in" an old MTM theme song double parody?
This had been my YouTube musical offering in tribute to Ed Asner in the 2012 Broadway play GRACE and then to Georgia Engel for her performance that same year in Annie Baker's adaptation of VANYA .
It was like a "Mary Tyler Moore Show" Festival in New York theater - as the MTM cast took turns co-starring onstage with Michael Shannon!
First, celebrating Ed Asner in GRACE / then, at 0:49, celebrating Georgia Engel in VANYA

Now off to a nice family dinner.
Have a great time!
-
We've got us a PAUCITY of posts today!
-
It was a truly GORGEOUS spring day here today.
-
The kind that makes your heart alive and makes you want it sing.
-
And skip through the dandelion patch.
-
With roses in your teeth.
-
While the songbirds sing along.
-
A Paucity of Posts - that's the title of my next novel.
-
Had pizza from a well-loved place in Toluca Lake - awful. Three pieces and trashed the other three.
-
I don't know what it is with pizza in this town - we used to have great places. And even Dino's wasn't so good last time.
-
I wish Piece o' Pizza was still around.
-
Good evening. Spent the morning digging up the septic tank covers so we can get the tank cleaned out. Fun!
Fun. I don't miss have septic tanks.
-
And you can't go by reviews because these are people who think dipping pizza in hot sauce is a thing.
-
Now off to a nice family dinner.
Enjoy.
-
Glad the books are arriving. Hoping there'll be some quick readers so we can get some reviews on Amazon.

I often thought of her book as the grass was greener at our first home with the septic.
-
Watching another Spanish thriller. Not a single review anywhere. We'll see where it goes.
-
It was also the only home with a septic tank that had an issue. Apparently, in that neighborhood, they had a tendency to bubble up and leak onto the side walk when the washing machines were running :o
-
Once I understood what was happening, whenever possible I did laundry on rainy days ;D

What happened to Marco's? I thought their pizza was pretty good.
-
I did some laundry today and there is one black sock missing.
-
I hate it when that happens. 8)

Home from the polls.
-
Four!
-
We had exactly the same number of people that we had on Tuesday. Only difference is we only had one computer to use to log people in.
-
So it felt like twice the work.
-
People toward the end told me I looked really tired.
-
I was. I am.
-
Who won the derby?
-
FYI: It’s a horse race.
-
What a long day for you, DR John G.!
-
Hope you can relax now and that your shoulder isn't bothering you too much.
-
As you can see, you didn't miss too much here.
-
I didn't see the Derby.
-
Or drink any bourbon.
-
Or wear a fine hat.
-
Or even a fascinator.
-
But does anyone really still wear a hat?
-
Just my cat.
-
Shoulder is still sore. But I survived. Who knows what it’ll be like tomorrow.
-
I received my book today, BK. Loved the extra.
-
Back to The Man in the Glass Booth. Really ugly story. There’s about a half hour left. I hope I can finish it tonight.
-
The lawn got mowed today. The oak pollen was blown away too. It looks a little too clean.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
The book looks great, BK. It makes me want to read it first a fourth time.
-
One Harvey Weinstein was the producer of The Man in the Glass Booth. Though it was an American Film Theatre production.
-
Not great, but glad I saw it.
-
I think I am headed to bed shortly.
-
But not before we leave this page.
-
:)
This is my life.
-
Watching one Charley Chase short first.
-
It’s about the early days of aviation.
-
Five!
-
Charley Chase is wearing out his welcome.

Time for bed.

My mom had that book!

I am: BACK.
Back from the soggy foggy spongebottom.
And you know what? The drive home from Norwalk was soggy and foggy. Fancy that. We apparently had some rainstorms or thunderstorms come through while I was holed up in the UN-air-conditioned auditorium, which was soggy enough - no matter who you ask - cast, crew, orchestra, audience. Thankfully, it wasn't raining while I was out driving, because I hate nothing worse than that at night. But it is DANK.
-
Should have had Marco's.
-
Oh well.
-
Finished a movie.
-
Making some pasta now.
-
Not too much.
-
In Canada they say “pasta” in a way that rhymes with “Shasta.”
-
I hear about bad pizza pretty much everywhere, from people who are from the northeast and are trying to find decent pizza in other regions.
And I don't understand the problem. You need an oven -- presumably, or preferably, a brick one -- and
(wait for it)
a recipe. One that's proven. One that works. Why can't there be great pizza ANYWHERE?
-
I had a bolognaise pass-ta dish myself. Bulked it up with some meatballs. I did not go hungry.
-
In Canada, did I mention this? There’s a chain called Boston Pizza. Now whoever associates Boston and pizza in the states? Nobody. Yet Boston Pizza is rather good. Generous, anyways.
-
Disclaimer: When I lived in L.A. I didn't know from pizza. I ate wherever a group was going to eat. I did takeout from Domino's when one was close to me. I had no expectations. I liked it all.
When the Chicago deep-dish style came to L.A. I dutifully had some and probably liked it fine. But I didn't care. All pizza was good.
I'm sure I wouldn't be saying that now, but that's how it was. When life was simple. And serene.
-
There is also a chain called “Pizza Pizza” that looks like Little Caesar’s but there are also Little Caesar’s, which are forbidden from using the phrase “pizza pizza.” Go know.
-
Was that in the late 1970s? The deep-dish invasion? Was it Numero Uno or something else?
-
I’m like you, Chas. Pretty much enjoy most pizza.
-
Pizzeria Uno.
-
I must say I grew up near Chicago and never really heard about deep dish until much later.
-
The quality of frozen pizzas you make at home has improved quite a bit in recent years.
-
I hear tell that "deep dish" isn't necessarily a true Chicago style. But I didn't live there long enough to get into pizza and learn all of that. What I did learn about was the hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches. Lordy, I could eat a couple right now.
-
My distaste for SpongeBob is well known to my children. Thus I cannot imagine enduring as much of that as you recently have, Chas. But maybe live people make it better somehow.
-
Hot dogs were definitely a Chicago thing. Real Vienna beef!
In another branding oddity, there was a small chain, Bozo Hot Dogs, but because Bozo’s Circus was big on WGN, they made one of the letter “o”s into a happy face and said they were “Boz Hot Dogs.” But everyone still called them “Bozo’s.”
-
7 hours of rehearsal today (3 hours of chamber chorus, 4 hours of opera staging) so I'm tired. Followed by 4 more hours of opera staging tomorrow. The staging rehearsals are so much fun - our principal singers are amazing. It gets pretty loud in our rehearsal space.
-
We have two children supers for one scene and both are children of present or past chorus members. One of them is a veteran - she's supered at San Francisco Opera after playing Trouble in our last production of Butterfly. For the other it's his stage debut.
-
If no one has mentioned this, here it is: The attempt at preserving the cottage near Charleston, SC where Porgy and Bess was conceived:
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/03/arts/music/porgy-bess-house-south-carolina.html
I think if we all kicked in a few mil...
-
Still on page 5 after all these years?
-
That will not do.
-
Nor will it stand.
-
Page 6 at last.
-
Yes, Numero Uno here in LA - in its prime it was really good. There are only two left, I think, and both are not so good.
-
I think in their efforts to please idiots who know not from pizza, with ridiculous toppings and dipping sauces, they've lost sight of how simple pizza should be. I'm gonna go to Farmer's Market at some point - they have a good jernt there that's been there forever. Patsy d'Amore's.
-
I remember that being very old school.
-
I, myself, am very old school.
-
Or maybe just old.
-
Or maybe just school.
-
What, no one's finished the book yet?
-
What is this page six malarkey?
-
Not very sporting.
-
Better finish the notes.
-
Look what has arrived in Tumwater! ;D
-
Thanks, BK!
-
Fun to check the manuscript against the pages in the book.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And still, page six.
-
Be right back.
-
Tonight, I worked concessions for a local production of Romeo and Juliet.
-
Fun to check the manuscript against the pages in the book.
I intend to! :)
-
I played Lord Montague in a production put on by Theater Artists Olympia about 15 or so years ago.
-
Back.
-
Stuck in a rut, which is a pain in the butt.
-
That just took ten seconds to post.
-
Weird.
-
Weirdly weird.
-
I'm feeling like there's a page coming.
-
See?
