Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of cello Jell-O, and now it is time for you to post until the cello cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BOON!
-
Good morning to all

Wow...that's pretty cool.

Topic of the Day: Yo-Yo Ma, Julian Lloyd Webber (Lord Andy's brother), and Gideon Freudmann (https://m.youtube.com/@gideonfreudmann3214). :)

Good morning, friends.

And others.
-
CONGRATULATIONS, BK, on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!

Wow, that's amazing!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Congratulations, BK, on your marvelous new millstone (in last night's posts)!
-
Had to be up early today for another morning thing. This one's just a single voice lesson I'm dropping in for, to help work on one number.
So even though I'm done with shows for the season, I'm not done with the damn mornings. On Wednesday and Thursday this week I have morning choral rehearsals. And then the same next week, and those are at an ungodly early hour.

Notes divided. Conquered.

Seeing Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle again was much fun yesterday.
I'd forgotten way more of it than I remembered. The theater's programmer introduced it as a largely unknown (these days) and very underrated film. More than half of this audience raised their hands to say they knew it or knew of it, and all enjoyed it. I had also completely forgotten Matthew Broderick's and Campbell Scott's roles. Both were excellent, and the Campbell Scott discussion afterward had to be done on Zoom because he was stuck at home alone (out in eastern Connecticut) with a sick kid or someone else sick in the house. So they put the zoom session up on the big screen, and he was an absolute pleasure. Looks great, remembered all kinds of detail about the film (he watched it at home while we were watching it, to review it), and he's the kind of actor you can enjoy listening to and learning from. Now I want to see more of Alan Rudolph's films, and for that matter, more Scott, who - call me ignorant - I just learned last night is George C. Scott's son.
-
Congrats to MR BK on his millstone! Worthy indeed of mentioning.
-
I do not think I have an answer for the TOD.
We shall see. However last night TCM had a couple of hours of Broadway Brevities from Warner Bros.
I saw several that I hadn't seen before. And I was introduced to a mandolin virtuoso named David Appollon.
Here's a video. In the film last night he was also very funny.

I'm no expert on violinists and cellists. I love Heifetz, Piatigorsky, Starker, etc., on the classic recordings, and I've always loved seeing and hearing Perlman, Harrell, and Yo-Yo Ma. But I'm pretty easy when it comes to these.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thanks for the update, ChasSmith. My favorite Rudolphs are Choose Me, Trouble in Mind and The Moderns. I hear Breakfast of Champions is also good, but I can’t get my hands on a copy.
-
Yo-Yo Ma, or Mr. Ma, as the NYT calls him, is a favorite on cello. I have plenty of his recordings, which I enjoy no matter what he’s playing. As for violin, I’ve been fortunate enough to have seen Perlman several times and Stern.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I forgot to set the alarm, but I woke at 5:50 with a feeling I had better get to the bathroom quick. I made it, but I spent the next 90 minutes being sick. I fed the cats and here I am. I'm planning to have a very quiet day. The apartmetn is a mess, and it will remain that way until tomorrow, when I will hopefully feel better.

DR John G., I kept forgetting to say this last week:
To the best of my knowledge, or my hearing (in the strange acoustic from the pit), the "Irving" joke - in fact, the entire line - was omitted from the Cell Block Tango. But I don't have the script for this version, so I don't know if it was never there at all, or if the school cut that line in addition to the one or two other things I'd identified as being cut.
Again, I find it SUCH a strange edition.
-
Health improvement vibes for DR Elmore -- NOW.

I must begin kitty cleanup and get on to te last chapters of A&T.

Bruce, is the Caesar salad at the Cheesecake Factory extra good? I usually get one of their Santa Fe salad. I used to get the Chinese Chicken salad without the chicken.
-
Always a small salad because even those are large.
-
Since I don't live near a Cheesecake Factory I can't take leftovers home.

Are you going to tell us why it is lame?
The wines, all using grapes from Yakima Valley, not Texas, tasted like adult soda.
From MichaelG
Huh, what's the point of that? Is there an untapped market for sweet Texas wines from Washington state grapes? Are they super-cheap?
LOL MichaelG.
John, that is lame when the results are sooo bad.

The Otello Sitzprobe went well last night. We didn't get to Act IV but the conductor isn't worried as that music is simpler than the preceding acts. Our whole cast is great but our Iago is especially awesome.
-
Speaking of school / kids / teens editions, we've been thinking they could market an "Otello for Kids" which is just Act I, so you have a happy ending. It worked for Into the Woods, didn't it?
-
And how about The Fantasticks?

When State Farm sent me the bill for insurance on Dennis The Smart Car - the notice didn't include the declarations card the gives the term of the coverage.....all kinds of new kinds of papers and paragraphs.
I called LAST Monday and the secretary said the declarations would be sent in a second letter.
My check has been cashed but I have NO declaration card. And the insurance expired on May 17 - even though the term has been paid and the check cashed on May 12. Maybe it will come tomorrow.
I asked her if I was the only person who called about the problem and she said "NO!"

Jrand, are you able to download the card from online and print it yourself? I do that all the time. It's so much easier and quicker than waiting for it to be mailed, but your insurance company has to have that as an option.

I just might.

Depends on my mood.

Sometimes my mood gets - moody.

But that's neither here nor there.

And it's also neither there nor here.

It's been lovely and cool here for quite a few days, but we're back to hot again - not unbearable, however.

I wouldn't mind being on another page.

I pay most of my bills online and/or autopay, but I always mail a check for my car insurance and my life insurance.

I think tomorrow morning I'll put up two numbers from Drat! The Cat! on Facebook.

Today was a non-event. I got downtown to the courthouse early.
-
It seemed like about 80 people were called for today.
-
At around 9:45am, they took 50 folks up to the courtroom for voir dire. I was not among those called.
-
The rest of us sat around until noon, at which point they announced all of the other cases today had settles, and we were let go for the day.
-
So I came home and worked a half day.
-
My group may be called back again later in the week (but not tomorrow), and if I get put on a trial, it could extend into next week.
-
Tonight, groceries were procured.
-
At the getting place, dontcha know.

Meanwhile, I don't have a cello.

Or jello.

So I'm a sad fellow.

But I'm trying to be mellow.

Leave us not forget that I was at that concert, somewhere in the orchestra section, halfway back, right of center. Don’t know if I have the program. A bunch from that era went missing years ago, don’t ask me how.
The two solo concerts I remember there were the Heifetz and a Keith Jarrett one. I didn’t understand Jarrett’s music much at all. There’s a bootleg recording of the Heifetz concert, but I don’t have it. I wonder if it’s online.

DR GEORGE saves the day.
Ah, shucks. ;D
-
BK, I sent a download link in a PM.
-
Notes are written.
-
They are brief.
-
Got it - thanks George. Sent to Jason. I forgot he did the But Alive opening - he called me in a panic in NY a few hours before his opening at Rainbow and Stars and said he was having trouble with the song and it wasn't landing. I came right over and in fifteen minutes we came up with an absolutely hilarious opening. The minute he told me he was petrified of the song, I said that's the way into it. Be NERVOUS. Start it with voice shaking, cough, take a drink of water and have it spill on your shirt, then call for "line." It was simple, you just had to find the way in. And no one builds on stuff like Jason. I did that on a couple of other opening numbers of his - always fun.
-
Gee whiz, that could have taken us to page twelve.
-
I'm not thrilled being on this damn page, that much I can tell you.
-
And have told you.
-
I've told you and I don't care who knows about ti.
-
I don't feel so good - don't know what this malaise is but I'm quite bored of it.
-
Took a Mucinex-D - maybe that will help.
-
This page is never-ending.
-
It goes on and on.
-
With no end in sight.
-
But there must be an end sight.

Like NOW.

See?
-
And?

Where'd George get to?

Somewhere.
