Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of cello Jell-O, and now it is time for you to post until the cello cows come home.

Heritage Auctions is selling original artwork of Tony Walton. One of the items, not artwork, is the cd of Twiggy that BK produced. The current minimum bid is $625 plus premium

Had to be up early today for another morning thing. This one's just a single voice lesson I'm dropping in for, to help work on one number.

So even though I'm done with shows for the season, I'm not done with the damn mornings. On Wednesday and Thursday this week I have morning choral rehearsals. And then the same next week, and those are at an ungodly early hour.

Seeing Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle again was much fun yesterday.

I'd forgotten way more of it than I remembered. The theater's programmer introduced it as a largely unknown (these days) and very underrated film. More than half of this audience raised their hands to say they knew it or knew of it, and all enjoyed it. I had also completely forgotten Matthew Broderick's and Campbell Scott's roles. Both were excellent, and the Campbell Scott discussion afterward had to be done on Zoom because he was stuck at home alone (out in eastern Connecticut) with a sick kid or someone else sick in the house. So they put the zoom session up on the big screen, and he was an absolute pleasure. Looks great, remembered all kinds of detail about the film (he watched it at home while we were watching it, to review it), and he's the kind of actor you can enjoy listening to and learning from. Now I want to see more of Alan Rudolph's films, and for that matter, more Scott, who - call me ignorant - I just learned last night is George C. Scott's son.

I do not think I have an answer for the TOD.

We shall see.  However last night TCM had a couple of hours of Broadway Brevities from Warner Bros.

I saw several that I hadn't seen before. And I was introduced to a mandolin virtuoso named David Appollon.

Here's a video. In the film last night he was also very funny.

I'm no expert on violinists and cellists. I love Heifetz, Piatigorsky, Starker, etc., on the classic recordings, and I've always loved seeing and hearing Perlman, Harrell, and Yo-Yo Ma. But I'm pretty easy when it comes to these.

Thanks for the update, ChasSmith. My favorite Rudolphs are Choose Me, Trouble in Mind and The Moderns. I hear Breakfast of Champions is also good, but I can’t get my hands on a copy.

Yo-Yo Ma, or Mr. Ma, as the NYT calls him, is a favorite on cello. I have plenty of his recordings, which I enjoy no matter what he’s playing. As for violin, I’ve been fortunate enough to have seen Perlman several times and Stern.

I forgot to set the alarm, but I woke at 5:50 with a feeling I had better get to the bathroom quick. I made it, but I spent the next  90 minutes being sick. I fed the cats and here I am. I'm planning to have  a very quiet day. The apartmetn is a mess, and it will remain that way until tomorrow, when I will hopefully feel better.

DR John G., I kept forgetting to say this last week:

To the best of my knowledge, or my hearing (in the strange acoustic from the pit), the "Irving" joke - in fact, the entire line - was omitted from the Cell Block Tango. But I don't have the script for this version, so I don't know if it was never there at all, or if the school cut that line in addition to the one or two other things I'd identified as being cut.

Again, I find it SUCH a strange edition.
