Well, you've read the notes, the notes has some establishing shots, and now it is time for you to post until the establishing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FRUITION!

Good morning, all.

TOD:
Pea shoots with garlic is one of my all-time favorite dishes.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Yes it does DR JOHN G.
-
Thanks everyone. I am feeling a bit better today after a good night of sleep.
My Cat Scan is scheduled for one week from today.
Don't tell The Cat.
-
I slept rather well last night. The cats behaved nicely. My new sleeping pattern seems to be something like this: solid sleep, 9:00-12:00, break, solid (?) sleep. 12:00-4:00, break, cats with some sleep, 4:00-5:30.
-
Ann delivered the book around 5:00, so it's back in the publisher's hands. I'm beginning to feel much like I feel when I finish an orchestration: I can't wait to hear it and how will my colleagues feel about it?
-
BK's notes about The Dark, a movie I've never seen, reminded me that in the spring of 1979, shortly before I moved to NYC, I read the "novelization" of the screenplay. BK's movie description sounds nothing like the book I read. My memory is that the killer was a vampire, not an alien, and the plot seemed more like a Ko episode.
-
Why is it that I can remember all that about a penny-dreadful but cannot tell you what I did yesterday morning?
-

Wishing you great success, Larry!

Why is it that I can remember all that about a penny-dreadful but cannot tell you what I did yesterday morning?
Isn't that just a normal part of getting older?
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don't recall ever hearing or knowing about The Dark. I lead a blessed life.
-
I went to bed a little after eleven and fell asleep pretty quickly. I think I slept pretty solidly, but I woke at 4:30 in the a.m. and barely got back to sleep after that. That's just wrong. There oughta be a law.
-
And again, a dream that can almost - but not quite - be remembered. Damn them!
-
At noon today I have my dental cleaning and checkup. I shall hope that proceeds without incident.
-
Amazing that The Dark played at the Picwood -- which, according to Cinema Treasures, didn't close until July 1985.
The last movie I saw there was E.T. in 1982, and right about then I was moving from Palms to Redondo Beach -- whereupon for a while I saw relatively few things in L.A. proper. There's a lot I missed seeing at the great theaters during those few years.
-
I'm sure there will be an establishing shot of the inside of my mouth today.
-
So, according to Michael Coate, the last 70mm movie shown at the Picwood was Amadeus. I should have gone. I remember where I saw it. Friends and I, for whatever crazy reason, went to what I believe was called the UA Cinemas or UA something in Westwood, south of Wilshire. That particular screen might have been okay, but why we went there instead of a truly first rate theeder is beyond me.
-
Notice how I keep jumping back and forth between the movie thing and my dental appointment.
It's all sleight of hand. Next I'll show you my amazing rope trick.
-
NOTE TO SELF: Don't forget to buy cat food on the way back!
-
I'm sure there will be an establishing shot of the inside of my mouth today.
LOL!

CBS Mornings is interviewing Audra McDonald with clips of her singing the Gypsy score. Oh, God, it's painful. Ethel, come back!
-
BK being coiffed today by Robert Yacko's hairstylist - This sounds very promising.
-
TOD: Will a vegetable egg roll count?
Or a mu shu dish of pancake with vegetables inside?
I'm assuming not.
-
I like the vegetables in Chinese dishes just fine, so even though I love me my meats, I imagine I'd be fine with some Chinese dishes without meat. I just can't think of anything specific that I've had that qualifies for the TOD.
-

You are braver than I am. I've only seen a tiny bit of a clip here and there, and I just can't get into it at all.

Millstone Alert - ChasSmith, you're just 11 posts from a nice roundish-numbered millstone of 38000.

Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Slept pretty well.
-
Busy morning so far: I have had two dealings with Amazon Customer Service about a scamming email and fake order and lousy attempt to send the fake email to Amazon; while I was in the middle of that Doug Fullington called me; I called him back and we caught up on several projects. I am now ready for a nap.
-
Coifed tomorrow, comedy today.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe five hours of sleep.
-
Maybe not.
-
You can keep your Ethel, I'll take Audra anytime. What is it that you find painful or that you can't get into?
-
TOD: Sichuan dry-fried string beans for me.

TOD: Sichuan dry-fried string beans for me.
A Chinese restaurant string bean dish sounds interesting! I'll have to try a side order of that if I see it on a menu at some point when I'm ordering.

I thought maybe the "carbohydrate" aspect might exclude it from the TOD.

But of course, maybe on HHW anything that causes posts can count for the TOD, LOL.
-
TOD:
I can honestly say I don't have more than one favorite Chinese dish that is only vegetable, but it IS delicious and it is tempura fried green beans.
I love Vietnamese-style spring rolls.
I love pot stickers.
And I love Thai dishes with peanut sauce.
-
FWIW:
I, too, had orange chicken for supper last e'en. Served over rice. I prepared it from frozen, but it was tasty.
-
But of course, maybe on HHW anything that causes posts can count for the TOD, LOL.
It aroused my comments!

Back, $232.05 poorer.

You've been away for two months. Everything okay?

It's nice to use HHW English usage in everyday life. I was describing a body cam video where the lady in question had claimed to police that her shoulder had been fractured at 8:30 that morning. But then, there she is on the police body cam around 10:30 (two hours later) waving her arms, almost doing calisthenics and pole dancing with a railing on the terrace.
To lighten the tone of the email, I described the 10:30 video as "Then Ms. P--- looks like she's practically doing the Lambada (The Forbidden Dance) with that railing."

I do enjoy vegetarian spring rolls.

We add tofu to most of our vegetarian dishes. When it is on the menu we will order broccoli with bean curd (tofu).

DR Ron, it is nice to see you posting again.

Her dreadful vocal performance of the material. She tortures the shit out of those songs.

Back from eggs Benedict, Gelson's, and the mail place.

Got the Muse Margaret call before I left this morning. I knew as I was struggling through about six pages towards the part where I stopped writing, that it just didn't feel right or good to me and that's exactly the part she wasn't happy with - easy to fix - just a couple of deletions and rewriting a paragraph or two to change the tone. And she thought I needed a paragraph prior to the one I begin with and she was absolutely right in her reasons for all of it. Aside from that, she absolutely loved everything else, which was the majority. And so, I revised, wrote a new opening paragraph that I'm pretty happy with, and sent to her. I'll wait for her call, and then I'll continue on to the next chapter.
-
That sounds fabulous, BK!
-
Ron P just reappearing and disappearing like a ghost! Good to see ya here.

TOD (not to be confused with Todd-AO):
I dunno… stir-fried veggies?
-
Topic of the Day: chow mein and stir-fried rice. :)
-
Keith got Wordle in five.
-
Page three???
-
Muse Margaret read the revised stuff and is now 1000% happy. Glad I have her. The new opening paragraph was so necessary, but I couldn't see it because I'd written it the way I did over eight months ago. And so, onward we go, but not at a frantic pace.
-
Ordered two tacos for food.
-
Freddie's ever lovin' Skip wrote a lovely review for Vegas Can be Murder.
-
Good news from Muse Margaret.
-
I am sorry DR MICHAEL G I have to agree with DR ELMORE - the current star of GYPSY is doing a piss poor and in her own mind glorious version of Rose.....and the less I hear of it the better.
I know you saw it and enjoyed it.....and I am not comparing her to ANY previous interpreter of the role....just saying she made ALL the wrong choices.
Happy that others enjoy her ridiculous antics.
-
But not me.

Apparently BOOP! and Smash were invited to perform on the Tonys for $300,000. Both shows said yes, and both were then told no. WTF?
-
Drat! The Cat! is uploading now - taking two hours due to being 24 gigs.
-
I can sort of see the sky right now. Haven't been able to for a week due to smoke from wildfires further north.

But not me.
They're writing songs of love...

That's disappointing. And disillusioning.

In doing the fixes he clipped a word, but it's not worth redoing.

Good evening.
-
Aunt Sassy and I took Grandson to The Crayola Experience in the mall today.
-
It was stupid expensive for what it was. But he had a fun time.
-
He was just the right age for it.
-
It is closing for good in a couple of weeks, so I thought we'd better go while we had the chance.
-
90%. Another fifteen minutes or so oughta do it.
-
Watching Kiss Me, Kate - just not a fan of Mr. Bartlett Sher. It's relentless, there must be a thousand light cues, and the leading man is fine as an actor but NOT as a singer. Stephanie Block is trying to hard. The revival with Marin Mazzie and Brian "Stokes" Mitchell was better directed - Michael Blakemore - IMO.
-
91%. I wonder if there was a way for me to downsize the video?
-
I know a few things, but not how to do that.
-
93%. Then it has to do its "finishing" thing - not sure how long that takes. Then I finally get to go to the next page.
-
98%. Four minutes left.
-
What is this page five malarkey?
-
99%.
-
Two minutes.
-
Hope the "finishing" part isn't two MORE hours.
-
100% but still says uploading.
-
Upload complete. Processsing, not finishing, will begin shortly.
-
Let us pray.

Processing, not finishing, to HD - fifteen minutes left.
-
Fourteen minutes left.
-
Where are you headed, DR John G.?
Maui.
-
One more.

The files we were going from weren't even four gigs. Had this been four gigs, it would have taken about five minutes.

Thirteen minutes left.

No. But he was outvoted.

-
Don't see any PMs.

In fact, I'm the only person here.

I got to see Marin Mazzie and Brent Barrett (the World's Sexiest Man Alive) in London. It was fantastic, of course.
-
What was really great is I that I got to meet Ms. Mazzie after the show and get her autograph, as well as the autographs of several others! ;D
-
Here's Marin's picture (that I took myself!) and her autograph:

I'm sure that I've posted these before, but too bad. ;)

Here's Brent's headshot from the program:

And here's his bio (but no autograph :( ):

In the next to last paragraph, he mentions his (then) upcoming new solo CD on the former label that shall not be mentioned.

And here's Michael Berresse's autograph and picture:

Here's Nancy Anderson:

No one's interested in Drat! so no link will be provided to those who are not interested.
-
Meanwhile, I keep hearing the word substack. Sounds to me like "substack" after looking it up, is basically what this here site has been doing for, I don't know, almost twenty-five YEARS?
-
No one's interested in Drat! so no link will be provided.
I'm interested! I'll send a PM. I was eating dinner and now I've been posting Kiss Me, Kate! remembrances.
-
I'll write some damn notes soon.
-
Finished Kiss Me, Kate. Seems to me like stuff was added, especially a bit about The Taming of the Shrew being problematic. Awful. And I don't know if the Too Darn Hot arrangement was created for this production or the Scott Ellis one with Kelli, but I should think they heard our recording of it with Liz Larsen. They don't do the other musical quotes we do, but c'mon.
-
PM sent, BK.
-
And the final London Kiss Me, Kate! autograph that I go (sadly, no picture) was from Nicolas Colicos. I have several London recordings that he's on and recognized him :)
-
I also recognized Teddy Kempner, but he didn't stop to chat. He just walled out of the theater and went on his way. :-\
-
Brent Barrett never came out at the stage door. He had guests that night, so he was busy with them.
-
But I got to see him perform live. :D
-
Our CD, Shakespeare on Broadway was released in 1996. The revival George saw opened in 1999. I don't think there's any doubt they heard our arrangement. And the bass opening is even slower like ours in this Bartlett Sher thing.
-
I know Kathleen Marshall was a big fan of my albums - she told me so - so, I'm guessing she heard it and liked it starting the way it did. Every production prior to that, used the B'way charts - uptempo from the get-go.

New notes are up.

Up are new notes.

I've seen them.

I've read them.

I wrote them.

How can we still be on this damn page?
-
Shouldn't we be on another page?
-
Wouldn't another page be swell.
-
Wouldn't that just ring our bell?
-
On the computer or on your cell.
-
That would make us feel well.
-
Maybe the next page has a farmer in the dell.

I mean, what the HELL.

Everything would gel.

We could all kvell.

Like poor little Nell.

We could shampoo with Prell.

Our fears would quell.

And STILL we're on the damn page.

I'm dancing as fast as I can.

Something is very wrong here.

Stranger than strange.

And I know what it is.

And I won't keep it a secret.

Here it is: Is there gaslighting going on?

See?
