Well, you've read the notes, the notes were on a roll, a kaiser roll, and now it is time for you to post until the on a roll cows come home.

And the word of the day is: FESTIVE!

I finished the second to last profile for the book.

And my eyes are tired.

We went to Lahaina today and saw some of the devastation caused by the fire. You could still smell smoke in the air. Really heartbreaking.
-
Must sleep.
-
Good night, all.

I finished the second to last profile for the book.
Congratulations on your progress, John G!

Loved your INTO THE WOODS photo with the prince last night, George!

TOD:
When Pietrasanta restaurant was on 47th and 9th, they made a great Caesar salad, which could be made even greater as a meal with some grilled chicken.

When Nancy Dussault was doing public presentations of a show of Skip's at Seattle Rep, late 1990s, it was interesting when walking with her on the street that people passing by would clearly look and know who she is, but Seattle folk would never interrupt her when she was in conversation with other people.
-
Congrats to MR BK on his new millstone.
-
I am not sew-fisty-kated enough to have eaten any of the delicacies mentioned in the TOD.
-
Nice photo DR GEORGE.

696 Guests on an early Saturday morning! Are they still here from Friday night, or did they drop in on Saturday morning?
Maybe HHW is becoming the place to drop in on before going to synagogue?
-
Good morning, all!
-
The alarm rang at 5:30 and I didn't have the energy to move. I nodded and dozed until 7:00, when I forced myself to start moving.
-
Yesterday I watcheed a bit of Act One of Drat! The Cat!. I had to stop after "Wild and Reckless," and I will continue today. I like the cast and BK keeps things moving right along. I do, however, have quibbles about the musical direction, but I'll reserve judgment until I finish it.
-
I have a few thing with the A&T book today, and I need to think about celebrities who own cats. The annual "Broadway Barks: seems to push dog owners. Any ideas? The only one cat celebrity I can think of is Danny Burstein.

I love Chef's Salads and Cobb Salads. I also like a good wedge salad, but chopped, with bacon added and blue cheese dressing.

Saturday is a happening day!

Much getting to be gotten!

I've already had breakfast out (a yogurt/fruit/granola parfait) and been to the pharmacy.

Now I am studying my music for tomorrow morning.

Later I will have a lie down.

Such an eventful day.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I was very proud of myself for figuring out how to "cast" from my phone to my television, so was able to watch Drat! on the big screen.

I have no idea how that's done, but I was thinking yesterday that I should watch on the "big" screen. I can always plug the laptop into the a/v receiver, but that's a bit of a pain. You know, in the ASS.
-

That's luxury!
-
Saturday here.
You know how I know?
It's raining. It's our 13th or 14th rainy Saturday in a row. I don't know how far and wide that pattern covers, but it's at least western Connecticut and somewhat beyond. Hell, maybe the northeast in general.

Was this ASS in capital letters thing already going on on HHW back in 2013? I looked back at some old emails, and when I was referring to a jackass, I somehow wrote it as jackASS.
The HHW influence, perhaps?

A noteworthy death of a songwriter, at age 98
"Arthur Hamilton, “Cry Me a River” Songwriter, Dies at 98"

Good morning.
-
TOD: Something Mexican inspired, I suppose. Or a Cobb salad, although those are pretty high in calories. The other day I enjoyed a grilled shrimp salad at Baja Fresh.
-
I don't usually order a salad at a restaurant, because I make so many salads here at home.
-
TOD
I love a chef's salad, and I can make a superb one but haven't done so in a couple of years. (I really have to make a list and shop in advance for that.) In my last couple of years in L.A. I somehow got onto them, and I went around to various coffee shops trying the chef's salad. I don't think I ever had a disappointing one. I specifically remember loving it at Ben Frank's.
Love a wedge salad, but just thousand for me, thanks.
Something I really haven't had in years is a taco salad, but I seem to never be at a place where I'd think of ordering one.
Lately at home, I've taken pleasure in just throwing together what would usually be called a "garden salad" at a restaurant.
Oh. BK mentioned spinach salads. Yes to that, but it has indeed been a long time.
-
Any big ASS salad will do.
-
Chicken Caesar.
-
Any big ASS salad will do.
Right? With whatever came in your vegetable box this week.
-
I made a good salad dressing yesterday: lime juice, mayo, salt, pepper, onion powder, Dijon mustard, and mashed avocado.

Chicken Caesar.
How could I forget??
With or without chicken, all good.
One of the first I ever had was made on the spot by a friend who specialized in certain dishes, that being one of them. I wish I knew the details, I only remember it was a revelation.
-
Good day, all.

What I made for dinner last night

Horiatiki or Greek salad is probably my favorite.

-
I love a good Caesar with plenty of anchovies in the dressing and on top.
-
Give almost any kind of chicken salad except for one with curry powder in it.
-
I used to love a wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese in it, but I can’t have the cheese anymore. I used to love spinach salad, but I can’t have spinach anymore. Such are the vicissitudes of life.
-
Lobster salad, crab salad and shrimp salad I will not say no to. Bring ‘em on.
-
I even like Krab salad.
-
I like lime congealed salad, but not the name.
-
Tabbouleh is far better than meh.
-
How about Mexican street corn salad?
-
Great photos, John G! Thanks for posting them.
-
We got English peas in our box today. I've never had fresh peas before.
-
I de-podded them and blanched them, as seen on Youtube.
-
I liked them. My DH didn't.
-
Lots of plums and potatoes in this week's box. Yellow squash and yellow bell peppers. That's about it.
-
There are going to be some unique salads this week.
-
My neighbors, whom I love dearly, got their teenage son a car.

I think she would appreciate the link.
-
DR George, congrats on the great show.
-
From George:
I decided (for the first time...I don't know why I didn't sooner) to come out after the show like all the other actors in costume and greet the adoring fans.
I bet they enjoyed it. The photo of you with your prince is great :)

I watched the rest of Act One. I may not get to Act Two till tomorrow. We'll see how the afternoon goes.

We went to Lahaina today and saw some of the devastation caused by the fire. You could still smell smoke in the air. Really heartbreaking.
Wow, I never imagined you could still smell smoke. I expect it is the same at my nephew's house.

I like it, without the anchovies. I'll eat them in the dressing but remove them on my salad.

I used to love a wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese in it, but I can’t have the cheese anymore. I used to love spinach salad, but I can’t have spinach anymore. Such are the vicissitudes of life.
I love what is now called a wedge salad, only the way I ate it as a child with thousand island dressing.
I used to like spinach salads and oddly don't care for them anymore.

Yum.

That's pretty cool, Singdaw! I know my phone can do it, but I've never had to because I have my TV hooked to my computer as the monitor.

Tonight is George Clooney's play on CNN and MAX, and tomorrow night is the Tonys.
Alas, I shall not be able to watch either program "live."

DR Singdaw, it is cool. I didn't even know it was an option.

I am shopping online for a new toilet brush. That is the extent of my excitement for the day.
-
The last piece of our new apartment is the replacement of the toilets in the two bathrooms. The present ones are quite old, and, frankly, in need of replacing.
-
The workmen arrived yesterday to do the deed. They first removed the toilet in the master bath and discovered that the new doesn't "fit" with the existing fittings. So, different models need to be ordered. So we are back down to just one bathroom, which isn't the end of the world, but still annoying. It's a bit of a trek in the middle of the night.
-
I know. First world problems. :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - about three hours of terrible sleep due to tummy issues.
-
My own fault.
-
Curious about Speechify. Does anyone here use it, or has used it?
It converts books and documents to audio, and reads them to you. It gives you a choice of about 20 narrative voices. One of which is Gwyneth Paltrow. :)
-
Must be on my way to meet Robert Yacko, but I'm not sure I can eat anything. I'll see if there's anything innocuous - maybe poached eggs on white toast would be okay. Would have had a chef salad otherwise.
-
Sorry, BK, and hope you are back to normal pronto.
-
I think it's clear that dear elmore is not enjoying Drat so maybe there'll be something in act two he'll enjoy.. It's fine not to like it.

The last piece of our new apartment is the replacement of the toilets in the two bathrooms. The present ones are quite old, and, frankly, in need of replacing.
Eventually, I want to replace both my toilets and my water heater.
-
My downstairs toilet is too short. I didn't realize that when I bought it. ::)
-
And I was thinking about getting a tankless water heater. My mom has one, but she had to have her whole fuse box rewired. It has been suggested that that might have to happen with mine, also.

I mostly enjoyed Good Night, and Good Luck. In fact, I liked it more than the movie. Great set and video design too.

Hello!
-
I am so far from catching up it will take me days
-
In the meantime, I quite enjoyed watching Good Night and Good Luck
-
I am currently watching the canon round table discussion

I like a Cobb salad with ranch, hold the tomatoes and blue cheese

Caesar salad with or without chicken or shrimp is lovely but I wish no anchovies to be within a several mile radius

Spinach salad with hot bacon dressing is amazing

YES, DR vixmom!

-
Good night, friends.
But no “good luck”?
-
I, too, watched Good Night and Good Luck. I thought it was pretty good and moved right along. But the audience? Whooping and hollering?
-
Dozed off whilst trying to find a movie.
-
No way I'll get any writing done - with only three hours of lousy sleep, my mind is not functioning.
-
I'll probably watch some more Fool Us with Penn and Teller.
-
Feeling a bit better, tummy-wise.
-
Tummy vibes for BK
-
Kids and I enjoy the Fool Us YouTube clips.
-
BK, remember working on a Penn and Teller BS episode about recycling?
Was that a positive experience?
-
I worked on Penn and Teller as a writer/producer for the entire first season, which is when we introduced Dr. Learly - I did three or four of those bits - I think the recycling bit was from a later season, though. I liked working on the show, and my voiceovers were the only ones Penn never changed or adjusted. And Teller was/is a huge Nudie Musical fan.
-
Watched more Fool Us - some of those tricks are beyond amazing, especially the ones that fool them. I love when the teen magicians fool them. I think it's still on the air? I don't like the second gal host nearly as much as the redhead of the earlier seasons.
-
Maybe after the notes, I'll try writing a couple of pages at least or at least get the research done.
-
Maybe.
-
If that Penn and Teller thing is still going on, I might try to go up there and see it. Down there?
-
I fell asleep and missed the play!
-
Feel better vibes for MR BK.
-
On the Screenpix service I watched a 1969 movie called Out Of It with a teenage Barry Gordon, Jon Voight, and Lada Edmund, Jr.
It was much of its time.....Barry drove 1969 Corvair convertible. Filmed entirely on location in New York and surroundings.....maybe Long Island.
-
I tried to watch Out of It about six months ago, but I guess I was our of it.
-
Notes are written.
-
Have eaten nothing after six-thirty.

Well, this happened:
At least 1.7 million eggs recalled as CDC and FDA investigate multistate salmonella outbreak (https://www.nbcnews.com/health/recall/cdc-fda-eggs-salmonella-recall-rcna211610)
The outbreak has sickened 79 people across seven states*, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At least 21 people have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported.
*Including Washington state! :o

Damn eggs.
-
Are the eggs bad here in CA?
Yup:
The brown cage-free and brown certified organic eggs were distributed by the August Egg Company from Feb. 3 through May 15 to retailers in nine states — California, Nevada, Washington, Arizona, Nebraska, New Mexico, Illinois, Indiana and Wyoming, per the FDA.
-
I can live without eggs until this passes.
-
Hard to know what restaurants are using.
-
Maybe that's why I was so nauseous.
-
Because now that I think about it, I had a breakfast Jack last night. Oops. Although, I don't think fast food jernts are buying brown cage-free eggs.
-
It continues:
In an announcement issued Friday, the Hilmar, California-based distribution company recalled 1.7 million eggs, which have sell-by dates ranging from March 4 to June 19 and were sold at retailers including Walmart and Safeway, as well as under many different brands that can be seen here. tRump and his first administration wanted/was able(?) to get rid of ouside testers for things like this. Each industry can police its own products! ::)

The last piece of our new apartment is the replacement of the toilets in the two bathrooms. The present ones are quite old, and, frankly, in need of replacing.
There are TWO bathrooms? How have you kept a lid on this information?
I have one-and-a-half bathrooms. ::)
-
And I'd like to replace both toilet, too.
-
I know. First world problems. :)
One of my favorite "first world problems" is the one where the guy's having lower back problems from his wallet being too full.
I wish I had that problem!
