Well, you've read the notes, the notes broke up, and now it is time for you to post until the breaking up cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MUNDIFY!
-
Can you mundify on a Thursday?

Notes devoured. Glowered.

I WAS here to read the notes.
-
I am at the airport in Tahiti preparing to fly back to LA.
-
And then to Vancouver, BC.
-
And then back to our isolated hamlet in the USA.

So, for some reason over the last couple of days, I went to YouTube and was looking up different versions of La Bayadère, the ballet that our very own Larry reorchestrated last year for Indiana University. I happened to come across this radio/podcast interview with Phil Chan, co-choreographer and he mentions Larry and is very complimentary! This link should take you to 11:25 where he's mentioned:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE56Xtg3KtI&t=685s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE56Xtg3KtI&t=685s)
-
In the description of this video, it says that "Back in May of 2023 in episode 339, we had Phil on the podcast with Doug Fullington and Sarah Wroth to tell us about how the idea for 'Star on the rise : La Bayadère ... reimagined!' came about, and what made Indiana University a great place to mount this production...." And here's a link to that earlier podcast:

-
Hello, Rodzinski. :)
-
Larry, did you know about these interviews?
-
Here's a direct link to where they mention Larry in the earlier interview:

Hello, G!
-
That’s a goldmine of a find, G!
-
That’s a goldmine of a find, G!
I thought so! Now, I just need to find time to listen to them. :)
-
And I literally just found this:
Backstories with Doug Fullington, dance historian and musicologist (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a72Is5G2IYY)
It's only 13:50 long.
-
And if you jump to 6:25 (https://youtu.be/a72Is5G2IYY?si=mIxojoM2LTz_w-d4&t=385), Doug talks about Larry and his orchestrations. :D

Wonderful links, DR George. Thank you.

Good morning, friends.

And others.

Wonderful links, DR George. Thank you.
Ditto! Thanks, George, for posting them!
-
And then back to our isolated hamlet in the USA.
Sending more travel vibes!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I actually slept rather well. Yesterday was not a good day for my legs, which were still reacting violently to all the exercise they got on Monday's outing. This morning, they seem to be in full recuperative mode. I hope!
-
DR George, I have not seen any of those links before. Thank you! Doug and Phil were wonderful collaborators, and I'm quite fond of them. We all want to see more happen with the ballet, but things are very quiet at the moment. I suspect the current administration anmd the idiot running it have got all major performance groups wondering where things stand financially for 2026.
-
And, speaking of the ballet, Star on the Rise, it's still up on the IU streaming service, if anyone wants to watch it again.

DR John G. - those folks I would have recognized. But they were not on the episode of Squares that I saw.

The school's last production was Bizet's wonderful opera Carmen. I watched a few moments, and I may watch the whole shebang over the next couple of days. It looks good.

Nice links DR GEORGE.

On my way to the getting place in a bit.

:)
LOL! Ain't it the truth? :)

Good morning, all.

DR John G. - those folks I would have recognized. But they were not on the episode of Squares that I saw.
Okay. The theater world forgives you.

Good morning, all.
-
I slept right through the night for a change, but I still feel like the proverbial truck ran over me.
-
That movie sounds like something I could enjoy well enough, and we have Prime here so I shall remember that.
-
Thank you for the links, DR George. And for the IU link again, DR Elmore. Let me get past this opening weekend, and I'll be more than ready to jump back into that again.
-
I slept right through the night for a change, but I still feel like the proverbial truck ran over me.
Feel better vibes for Chas!
-
And hell, I'd enjoy watching that Carmen, too.
-
Last night was the perfect night for an outdoor rehearsal, and it went well. I can see two-thirds of the stage, which is way better than we usually get, and it looks like the director has done a good job of honoring the Hal Prince-ish look and feel of the show. They're stuck with a basic set construction originally designed a couple of seasons ago, but they're making good use of it.
-
So naturally, since last night was perfect for it, this evening we are expecting storms to come through.
Naturally.
We'll see what happens. Timing, of course, is everything.
-
But tomorrow the Fourth looks to be perfect again (but no rehearsal or show) and the weekend looks to be fine, though hot and humid.
-
I don't believe I have anything else of brilliance to say right now, so I yield the floor.
-
TOD: The Last of Sheila, of course! :)
-
I'm not up, I'm not up - and yet I am. Six hours of sleep, I think. I may try for a couple more, but I think that three-hour nap at five yesterday after ten hours of sleep, probably got me up this early.
-
What does everyone think about celebrities slumming (cashing in? selling out?) on game shows? I'm thinking Drew Carey hosting The Price is Right, or Jay Leno on Hollywood Squares.
It's probably easy money for them. I don't begrudge them the money. But do they really need it that badly?
-
No more late night grilled cheese, I guess... :)

My polyps are benign but the pre-cancerous kind. It will be interesting if the doctor now says "to be reassessed in five years".
-
My endoscopy is what it usually is, just chronic inflamation. If a doctor feels I need an endoscopy again I am going to think long and hard about my symptoms prompting the suggestion before I agree.
-
That's all good news, Jane. I mean, I'm sorry it's chronic, but I'm so glad it's not cancer.
-
Snowdrop is Victorian flower language, is what I was told.
-
I forgot to tell you all that we had a very nice monsoon storm last night. About .15 of an inch of rain. It was so nice.
-
That's all good news, Jane. I mean, I'm sorry it's chronic, but I'm so glad it's not cancer.
Thank you and I agree. It can be frustrating having regular symptoms that could be cancer and having to check for it. I try to keep my stress level low as they make it all worse but you know, with the state of our country and the world-lol
-
Snowdrop is Victorian flower language, is what I was told.
That is lovely and beautiful. With her sense of humor, it kind of fit naming a black kitten Snowdrop :)
-
I just googled Snowdrops.
In Victorian flower language, snowdrops symbolized consolation and hope. They were often included in bouquets to offer comfort and encouragement to those facing difficult times. Additionally, snowdrops, as one of the first flowers to bloom in spring, were also seen as a symbol of rebirth and new beginnings.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Consolation and Hope:
Snowdrops, being one of the earliest flowers to emerge in winter, were seen as a sign of hope and resilience, especially during challenging periods.
New Beginnings:
Their appearance after the cold winter months made them a natural symbol of renewal and the promise of spring.
Victorian Context:
In Victorian England, the flower language was a popular way to express emotions and sentiments. Snowdrops, with their delicate beauty, fit perfectly into the Victorian era's appreciation for nature and symbolism.
Beyond Victorian Times:
While the Victorian language of flowers is a specific historical context, the symbolism of snowdrops as a sign of hope and new beginnings continues to be recognized today.

My polyps really are low risk ones, even with my high risk of cancer. Maybe I truly am does with this.

I got three more hours of good sleep. Thinking about food.

I had to do an Instacart order - was out of everything.

I could make some pasta here.

Or rice.

Or not.

Speaking of food ...

My DH went to the restaurant grocery store and brought home a five-pound bag of shaved parmesan, asiago, and romano cheese.
And a pound of cilantro and a pound of basil.
And three pounds of limes.
And three pounds of baby lettuces.
-
I shared the herbs and limes with the neighbor next door. I'll share the cheese with the pastor's wife and my DIL.
-
I'll eat all that lettuce myself. With some pesto dressing.
-
Very interesting DR LAURA.
-
Continued good news vibes for DR JANE.
-
I bought a head of lettuce today, too. I made a nice salad with tomatoes and green peppers and fiesta blend cheese.....it should last for a few days.
-
Opening night vibes for DR CHAS SMITH & Co.

Glad to hear the news is basically good, Jane.

Speaking of hearing, I got no video with that.

I'm tired. Must leave soon. Back to Thursday dance classes.

~~~OPENING NIGHT BREAK-A-LEG VIBES~~~ for DR ChasSmith and the company of Evita!
Thanks for the vibes for my DH! Flight is still on schedule.
-
On this day in 2008, we had lunch with DR Ron Pulliam in San Francisco and then went and got married.
-
But we have been together 38.5 years.
-
The DH was at a convention in California when that marriage window suddenly opened up, so I flew out to CA at the last minute.
-
It was several years before our marriage was Federally recognized.
-
And perhaps in the not-too-distant future, it won't be again.
-
There is a young man who walks past our building on the sidewalk about 8 times a day, dribbling a basketball.
-
He has every right to do it, I suppose, but it's pretty darned annoying.
-
He walks very slowly, so the noise lasts for a long time.
-
Sometimes, he double-dribbles.
-
I want to find out where he lives and stand outside his window and dribble at 2:00am.
-
But I'm not coordinated, so it probably wouldn't work. 8)
Happy anniversary!
-
Yes, I was always the last one picked in gym class. Didn't matter what the sport was.
-
Break a leg on opening night, Chas!
-
But in middle school and high school, I discovered I was pretty good at competitive swimming. Which, although a team sport, is also very individualistic.
-
Which suited me just fine.
-
Unintended pun.
Aren't they the best?
Hello, everyone.
Happy Anniversary to Singdaw and his DH.
Feel-better vibes to Jane and Bruce and anyone else who is feeling poorly.
-
Thank you, DR Jeanne!
Hoping you would pop in here with news that you were in escrow.
I am in recuperation mode, ie, I’m being a couch potato. Yesterday I had some outpatient surgery — not painless, but it went smoothly. I’m doing well, but need to take it easy for a few days. An overdue break for R&R. I’m happy to curl up with a book or watch a movie or post here. I’m not allowed to drive yet or even take a shower. So perhaps an overripe couch potato. 🥔
-
I made an offer on a condo. The seller came down in price and I moved up. The agent discounted his commission. We each gave up something. I thought that at last this offer might fly. But it was not to be. The seller balked at paying the buyer’s commission, which is customary in California. That added another $13,000 to the sales price, which I felt was already inflated. I like the unit, would like to buy in that building, but feel that the seller is being unrealistic and trying to take advantage. He wants an outrageously good deal.
-
So the search continues. Sounds like a soap opera, huh?
-
Jane, have you ever tried aloe vera juice? Very good for digestion. I’m currently taking Aloecure (grape flavor), my favorite of all the ones I’ve tried. Light, pleasant flavor.
Remember I had a lot of my neighbor’s stuff to go through. His partner was a photographer and there were hundreds of photos and slides, including some interesting Hollywood memorabilia. And my stuff.
I have new neighbors downstairs and they are readers. I will give them a bag of my discards.
DR JEANNE you were correct to balk.
I wonder if your friend's collection included any photos of Miss Allison Hayes?
You must of course immediately go through them all and check.
I’ve already had some “refuser’s remorse.”
I wonder if your friend's collection included any photos of Miss Allison Hayes?
Possibly, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t recognize her. There were many I did recognize — Bob Hope, Streisand, Liza, Travolta (Bruce passed those photos on to him and they were lovely). I’m doing a first pass to weed out wedding photos of total unknowns, then I’ll give Bruce another batch.
-
The internet tells me that the town fireworks will start tonight at about 9:15 pm. So I may move to the front porch at that time.
Because of all of the tall trees between my house and the park I can only see the fireworks that go the HIGHEST.....but I can certainly hear them.
So much history gets lost. It’s a shame.
DR JEANNE here is a breakdown you may find interesting.
-
I do not have a photo of my grandfather, my mother's father. Someone had to have had at least one photo but never passed it on to my mother.
I don't have a photo of my paternal grandfather, but that's because he and my grandmother divorced and he was erased from the family history. When my grandmother died we checked and there was not a photo of him to be found. I'm hoping some of my cousins might have photos of a bunch of the siblings, including him, but no luck yet. The closest I've gotten are photos of his parents and some of his brothers.
I think I shall retire to the front porch.
-
I do not have a photo of my grandfather, my mother's father. Someone had to have had at least one photo but never passed it on to my mother.
I don't have a photo of my paternal grandfather, but that's because he and my grandmother divorced and he was erased from the family history. When my grandmother died we checked and there was not a photo of him to be found. I'm hoping some of my cousins might have photos of a bunch of the siblings, including him, but no luck yet. The closest I've gotten are photos of his parents and some of his brothers.
That too is sad. Because my grandparents were divorced I'm not even sure my mother remembered what her father looked like :(
Fireworks are not until TOMORROW night......
-
So I stopped watching for them.
-
I'm really sorry about your deal, DR Jeanne.
Vibes they realize their mistake and offer you the condo at your price.
-
On this day in 2008, we had lunch with DR Ron Pulliam in San Francisco and then went and got married.
A Very Hapoy Anniversary to you and your DH!!
Happy anniversar!
National law as of last year no longer compels sellers to pay buyer’s agents. A settlement made in a lawsuit against the National Association of Realtors.
In LA, land of dreams.
Ears survived the journey, but still require meds.
-
Welcome home, DR Rodzinski. That's a long haul.
-
Happy Anniversary to DR singdaw & Jayson.
More happy anniversary wishes!
-
Very true.
-
Welcome home!
-
Thanks for all the wishes! We usually celebrate the date of our first ceremony, in 1990, which was not legal but which both sets of parents attended.
-
Has anyone read Isabel Allende’s Of Love and Shadows?
-
Almost to nine.
It was a day of travel. My DH is now home, too.
I love that we can get from where we live to the airport in under 10 minutes.
Why not celebrate everything passing by?
-
When we lived in Connecticut, I remember 2 hour traffic-clogged trips to JFK.
-
Why not celebrate everything passing by?
Yes. A wise person once wrote that.
-
But I think soon we shall be retiring.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Glad Little Boy's ears are ok.
-
We just got a little bit more rain tonight.
-
Our monsoon storms are short, but they can drop a bit of rain quickly. We'll take it. We're thrilled to get it!
-
Glad Little Boy's ears are ok.
I was thinking the same.
-
I never saw Killers of the Flower Moon, but I really want to now that I’m watching The Wedding Banquet. Lily Gladstone is wonderful. This movie is really good.
-
Movie rule No. 4,326:
Beware of old pros. Youn Yuh-Jung, who won the Oscar for Minari, and Joan Chen have a short scene alone together in The Wedding Banquet and walk away with the movie.
-
Good night, all.
