Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of my brother Joel, and now it is time for you to post until the brother cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PANACEA!
-
Notes seen. Heard.
-
Touching verbal and visual tribute to your brother, BK.
-
Yes, such a lovely tribute to your brother, BK.
-
BK - Beautiful photo in the notes of you and Mrs. Sherman.
-
Good morning.
-
BK, I'm glad you had the chance to spend time with your brother when he was feeling good. Lovely tribute in the notes.
-
BK, that was a very nice tribute to your brother in your notes. And the picture with Elizabeth Sherman was wonderful.

Good morning, all!
-
Terrible night of sleep, but I did have - and remembered! - two dreams. In the first, I was in college, and every time I walked out the door of 202 West 82nd Street, I would see Patricia Routledge/Hyacinth Bucket walking past the building carrying a large slice of chocolate cake on a saucer. In the second dream, I wascomposing music for a ballet based on King Lear.
-
BK, I am so sorry to hear of your brother's death. That was a beautiful pictorial tribute to him in today's notes. I send condolences to you and his family.
-
Two interesting things happene yesterday afternoon, both possible sources of income. I got an email from the Packard Humanities Institute about (finally!) releasing the John McGlinn recordings from London, 2001. Then, I got a call from Phil Chan, one of my collaborators on the ballet Star on the Rise, about a fee to use sections of the ballet score in a documentary on ther making of the ballet.
-
Last night I girded my loins and read the chapter on The New Yorkers in that Cole Porter book. In discussing the plot, he says that it's about a New York socialite (Hope Williams) who marries a gangster (Jimmy Durante). Charles King played the bootlegger Al Spanish, and Durante played Jimmy Deegan, the nightclub comedian.

You could play a drinking game taking a sip of coffee every time the name of high-powered, high-priced attorney David Oscar Markus, attorney for Ghislaine Maxwell, is on the news these days.
And he was also just as high-profile in 2020 as today - and the involvement of such a high-powered attorney anywhere in - wait for it! - the Landau family's finances or estate matters against - again, wait for it! - me, makes no sense!
A puzzlement: What is the "money" or "pull" that got as high-powered, high-profile an attorney as David Markus anywhere near my family's finances, actively looking our for the interests of these inheritance theft scammers - my brother Hilary (Macbeth) Landau. and his wife Joann (Lady Macbeth) Landau, against me.
But David Markus' name is all over the attorney invoice.
I had hired a Florida attorney named Paul Berman, paid him over $15,000 as MY lawyer - but there David Markus is, on the Paul Berman invoice, working against my interests.
Who got as high-powered an attorney as David Markus doing this? This high-powered lawyer represents the interests of people like Hillary Clinton and Ghislaine Maxwell - and also somehow my brother Hilary Landau and his wife Joann Landau!
-
Good morning, all.
-
A lovely tribute and photos in the notes.
-
Good potential news for DR Elmore. I hope both of those things come to pass, and soon.
-
Today I must decide whether I'm going to see a local production of Camelot tonight, or perhaps tomorrow night instead.

TOD
Well, I did it. After our talking about it yesterday, I just had to take out Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession and begin watching it again for my first time in a dozen years. It's two hours long and there were a couple of things I had to do as well, so I watched the first 30 minutes, then a little later the second 30 minutes, and I will finish up today. Taking a documentary like this in these chunks turns out to be perfect, but even more importantly, I'm loving it. Even more than the first time. Thus far, the interviews and reminiscences are excellent. I can also look forward to a commentary I never listened to before, and there's a second disc containing I don't know what.
Anyhoo, I believe it's DR Jrand74 who gets the thanks for starting the conversation, and DR Rodzinski as well. This is a wonderful trip into a unique moment of an L.A.-and-movie-centric past.

I complained about documentaries the other day but just watched a really good, simply done one about the ill-fated original Roger Corman Fantastic Four movie. Worth your time if, like Elmore with his Toyland stuff, you ever worked on a project that came to naught for reasons beyond your control.

Watched the last half of Z Channel. Most gratifying, and sadly depressing at the end for, um (no spoilers here), various reasons. But definitely enjoyed it. I'll catch the other features on the disc over the weekend.
-
I've decided this is my best night to attend a local theeder's Camelot which I need to see. So that shall be done and I'll have the weekend free.
I'll need to show up at the outdoor theeder's Little Mermaid, too, and that could be Sunday evening or possibly next Thursday evening. To be decided between now and, I guess, Sunday.

Finally, the new book page is almost working. PayPal makes the buy buttons so EASY now, but Doug couldn't figure it out and spent hours on it and finally got it to work but instead of a buy button it put in a link - don't want that.
-
And of course, he gets frustrated. This morning I went in and looked at what he'd done because it saves everything in case you want to edit. It put in a link because - wait for it - that's the option that's the default - literally to the right is another thing that says or Buy Button - you just choose that, click update, and it's there. It took me one minute to figure all that out.
-
Oy!

Finally back from the eye doctor - he's starting me on some medication, which I'll pick up at CVS later tonight. I guess maybe it's time to reveal what's really been going on - in the notes tonight.

But here's the question for now - I can announce the book now - the page is working and orders can be placed. Or I can announce in the notes. Let me know what you think.
-
I'm hoping that's good news, BK.
-
Just ordered some catfish from the other jernt I sometimes get it from - with lobster mac and cheese and yams for sides. Uncle Andre's charges 24 bucks for the catfish and two sides. This jernt charges 19.99 but has a 6.00 discount if you order between two and five, and I had a five dollar credit, so with tax and tip and fee the whole thing came to sixteen bucks. I'll take it.
-
There's good news and bad news, but the good news hopefully takes care of the bad news - believe me, it could have been worse.

RICHARD AND ME
A Supercalifragilistic Friendship
Bruce Kimmel first heard and fell in love with the songs of the Sherman Brothers when he was just thirteen and saw The Parent Trap—the first show on opening day, June 23, 1961, at the Vogue Theater in Hollywood. He became an instant lifelong fan of their songs, whether they were written for the movies, the pop charts, or the theater.
What he never could have imagined was that thirty-seven years later he’d meet Richard M. Sherman through a bizarre and mind-boggling set of circumstances, the odds of which were probably a million to one. Or perhaps it was simply fate.
From the moment they met, it was a mutual admiration society that quickly blossomed into a close, magical, and unique friendship that lasted for a quarter of a century, until Richard passed away, a month before his ninety-sixth birthday. Along the way, they wrote two songs together, and Bruce brought the unproduced Sherman Brothers musical, Levi!, the story of Levi Strauss (with a book by prolific screenwriter and director Larry Cohen) to the stage, directing its world premiere production, almost forty years after it had been written. He directed the big, all-star ninetieth birthday concert for Richard at the Wallis Annenberg Center in Beverly Hills. He also issued an entire CD of never-heard-before Sherman Brothers songs from unrealized projects, called Unsung Sherman Brothers.
You’ll read about their many adventures, the people they worked and interacted with, the meals, Christmas Eve parties, birthdays and anniversaries, spent with Richard and his beautiful wife Elizabeth. As Richard often remarked, he thought that he and Bruce were like the same person.
Richard and Me is filled with humor, heart, and fortuosity, the story of a truly scrumptious and supercalifragilistic friendship.

“Bruce Kimmel has written a love song for Richard Sherman.”
—Hayley Mills
“It’s a jolly holiday for readers as Bruce Kimmel (acclaimed record producer/director/songwriter/author) shares the love, laughter, and musical adventures of his 25-year friendship with legendary, iconic and Oscar®-winning songwriter/composer, Richard M. Sherman (of Sherman Brothers, Disney and Mary Poppins fame). Their mutual admiration, love and respect for one another is on full display in this delightful, informative and highly personal account that runs the gamut of emotions. As a nearly 50-year Disney Studios publicity veteran, who had the pleasure of working with and socializing with Richard and his wife, Elizabeth, I can tell you that Richard and Me captures the joy of knowing this optimistic and life-affirming musical genius, as only Bruce could tell it.”
—Howard Green, Marketing and Publicity Executive, Walt Disney Studios
“Bruce and Dad treasured their beautiful friendship—something rare and special, the kind most people would envy. They brought out the best in each other through their shared sense of humor, love of music, and deep loyalty to their lifelong L.A. roots. They truly admired one another’s talents and inspired each other in creative pursuits.”

Had to pick up my prescription - unless everything has changed, I'm with United Health Care Medicare Advantage, which means medicine is supposed to cost NOTHING - no co-pay. The guy waiting on me said it's only for over the counter medicine, which makes no sense at all. I'll contact them tomorrow and find out what's what.

Yikes.
-
Well, I've got some long notes to write.
-
Better get to it.
-
New notes are written and they are LONG.
-
And hopefully interestingly interesting.
-
What are we doing on this page?
-
Ridic.
-
Not very sporting.
-
What else is new?
-
I had some shrimp cocktail shrimp just a while ago and now I'm feeling queasy.
-
Queasy ain't easy.
-
And hardly breezy.
-
A little sleazy.
-
Definitely cheesy.
-
A little wheezy.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Not here.
-
I think we're close to something.
-
Really close.
-
Closer than close.
-
Closer than ever.
-
See?
-
Now, get me off this damn page.
-
Very queasy.
-
Need to stop that train right now.
-
Or I shall scream.
-
I shall scream, I tell you.
-
Where's Rodzinski?
-
Oh well.
-
Well oh.
-
Jell-Oh.
-
Yesterday, I went to my mom's house and I took this picture out front because the color was so vibrant:
-
Just had to share. :)
-
I don't, however, know what flower/plant it is.
-
If you know, please let me know!
-
I have a shelf of all my BK books, and I have just now made a space for when BK's latest book is received:
-
It's next to my Fredric Brown complete-ish ::) collections.
-
The book on the far right, Hunter and Hunted: The Ed and Am Hunter Novels, Volume 1, was the first in a series to bring all of Fredric Brown's mysteries back into print.
-
There wasn't a volume 2. :-\
-
Here I am, fellows.
-
I have some really primo first editions of Fredric Brown - great writer.
-
Rodzinski's here.
-
Got a new iPhone from Verizon down in George’s old haunts. Had to wait an hour for everything to transfer from old phone.
-
There is a LOT to unpack in the notes.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
Exciting book news!!
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Let the unpacking begin…
-
And they are LONG.
-
To da notes!
-
Enter page eight!
-
The two books next to the space for BK's latest are collections of all of FB's sci-fi short stories and all five of his sci-fi novels.

Cool! My uncle got a new phone and a new line when he bought his iPhone in Portland, so there was no transferring of any data.
