Well, you've read the notes, the notes were august about August, and now it is time for you to post until the august August cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: KISMET!
-
Notes augusted. Digested.
-
Good morning, all!
-
At last! Laundry day has arrived.
-
I slept okay, but the night seemed to last forever.
-
I've got to get myself moving.
-
Good morning, all.
-
COMPLETE change in the weather, at last.
Which actually happened yesterday, but we finally truly felt it last night. Had a pretty solid sleep under the covers with the windows open, and that was heavenly.
Today: cool, with a high of around 70!
Saturday and Sunday will be sunny but warm, not too hot, topping off in the low 80s. Perfect summer weather.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.

The trailer for Blue Moon has been released, with Ethan Hawke playing Lorenz Hart:

Last night I did what DR Jrand74 said he might do, which is watch Apocalypse Now on TCM - or at least start it and fall asleep to it.
Turns out I was in the mood, and though I began to get drowsy during the last segment, I didn't "lose it", and I ended up watching the whole bloody thing for the first time in years.
I wish I'd gone to it at the Cinerama Dome. I was a late comer to seeing it at all, and I can't remember where, but I know I went to a second-rate theeder to see it, probably a couple of years after the fact. I've never actually loved it, but whenever I return to it for one reason or another, my basic appreciation for it has grown. I've owned it on laser, DVD, Blu-ray, and a "deluxe" Blu-ray which I have now. I'm glad I watched last night, and maybe someday I'll figure out what the different versions or cuts of it actually consist of.
-
I caught the last 20 minutes or so of TCM's airing of the AFI tribute to Coppola beforehand. Interesting, but that was enough of it. Got me in the "mood", at least.
-
Today: music, music, music. I must play through every song in this little concert, work on the three or four of them that really need it, and finish my "edits" and "layouts" of them on the iPad so that the whole affair runs smoothly.
Tomorrow, Saturday, a long rehearsal for the local kids. Sunday, a rehearsal with the Rhode Island kids (this woman teaches locally and at URI, I think it is) plus the locals, putting it all together, and then the program is Sunday evening. After that, I have no musical obligations for a while.
-
The new computer sounds absolutely great.
The Mac Mini sounds like the way to go, too, for maximum value and ruggedness. They're usually found in the professional pits and other keyboard venues when MainStage is used, rather than the Macbook Pros.
-
I went to Little Murders in Cleveland when it was released, and a few of us returned two or three times to savor the performances and, of course, the new audacious writing.
After that I didn't see it in years and I don't think I ever owned a copy of it until several years ago when I included it in an order from Indicator (UK). I shall now have to take that out and begin savoring it all over again.
-
I cannot believe we are in that august month already. Well, weather-wise, I certainly can. But the years, where do they go?
-
The trailer for Blue Moon has been released, with Ethan Hawke playing Lorenz Hart:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo7gRHip0lI
The trailer makes it feel like Rodgers' opening night of OKLAHOMA! with Hammerstein immediately eclipsed in Hart's feeling of self-worth all the many standards Rodgers and Hart had written together.
Or maybe I'm reading too much about the movie into that trailer.
-
I'm really looking forward to seeing the whole movie.
-
:)

Don't I know it...
LOL!

:) But doesn't everyone agree that cheese danish is a proper breakfast food?
-
Certainly a continental breakfast.
-
Thank you for posting these twisted day-brighteners, singdaw!
-
I like the Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissant.
-
Yes it is August. The best month for birthdays.
-
The best.

-
I like the Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissant.
For health food, the Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese on an English muffin works!
-
Yes I indeed watched Apocalypse Now for the first time last night.
I am still thinking about it. Movies about Vietnam are difficult for me to watch. A lot of guys from my generation have much different lives than they would have had otherwise.....if at all....so I don't like to be reminded of it.
-
This is turning out to be a really major story of Broadway about this year's Tony winning Best Musical.
"‘Maybe Happy Ending’ Casting Change Ignites Debate About Representation
When the show said Andrew Barth Feldman, a white actor, would replace Darren Criss, who is of Filipino descent, alarms were sounded by some Asian American actors."

The State Fair starts today - as does the local Old Settler Fair.
Local TV hosts of movies and cartoons always used to broadcast from the fair including Miss Frances Farmer who looked a bit out of place talking to 4H and FFA winners of blue ribbons for goats, cows, and hogs.
Miss Frances died 55 years ago today on August 1, 1970.

Sending vibes for your play, Jrand.
-
I see Elizabeth McGovern is starring in a play about Ava Gardner.
-
I'm no Vietnam movie fanatic, to be sure, but my interest in this one definitely grew over the years. Another I was kind of interested in was Oliver Stone's Platoon, but I actually remember very little of that now.
-
Good morning, all.

TOD:
I don’t know what kind of time I will have this weekend.
-
Saw Apocalypse Now in the theaters. I try to see all of Coppola’s movies on the big screen, but I admit I have missed a few. I have the DVD on my to-watch table. Maybe soon.
-
I have a coupon that is expiring tomorrow - so I may have Burger King for lunch today.

Too bad we didn’t have that picture in my magazine!

Here’s an amusing call to the Jimmy Dean organization about their sausage.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f4RNb3tt0LM

Really good link!
-
Now I'm in the mood for a McDonald's sausage with something sandwich. But they switched the menu to lunch already.
-
:)
-
The laundry is in the dryers.
-
I saw Apocalypse Now on its opening night in 1979. I didn't like it much, and I was particularly offended with the footage of the slaughtered bull. It was actually being butchered while I knew full well Marlon Brando's head wasn't actually flying off his body.
-
LOL DR FREDDIE no coupon for that but it does look good.
DR RODZINSKI I'm the magazine would have flown off the shelf!
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
Had English muffin and jam and must now buy more of the former.
-
Pill one taken.
-
I'm wondering, can we get to page 3 before noon (Eastern time)?
-
It seems like it could be easy enough.
-
It's worth a try

Thanks for sharing! Linklater and Hawke together are usually a fabulous combination, and this sure looks promising.

TOD: I've been listening to Domingo's second recording of Samson et Dalila in preparation for our first music rehearsal on Wednesday.
-
For my purposes I need a chorus with good diction that's well-recorded. The Chœurs de l'Opéra Bastille succeed on all counts.
-
Often the tenor section in opera chorus recordings is the hardest one to hear. But on this recording they are often the most prominent section, which I appreciate.
-
Book just hit Amazon, but I can't really post about it until they consolidate the listings - each is listed separately at the moment - soft and hardcover and eBook - and until they consolidate the two reviews only show up on the eBook. I just sent a message about it - last book it happened pretty quickly.

$8.99 for that Burger King with brisket sandwich is sounding downright cheap all of a sudden.

Let us pay tribute...

Funny how you feel like a part of you is missing these days when you forget your phone.
Recalls "How a part of me she's grown" from NICK AND NORA
"She's the one real love I've known.
How a part of me she's grown.
Once I liked to drink alone.
Look who's alone now."
-
Or is it "How apart of me she's grown"
-
How apart of me she's groan?
-
How apart of me she's groan?
Is the word "groan" allowed on HHW?
-
Yes, but did George finish a book yesterday - the one he was going to finish the day before. Did he finish it today? Will he finish it prior 2026?
-
I was going to watch a movie, but I have, I'm afraid, gone down the Arrest and Trial rabbit hole - two episodes so far, the irony of which is that one guest-starred Sandy Dennis and the other guest-starred George Segal. The following year, they would both become major stars when they worked together in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.
-
I'll try another episode - all thirty episodes from its one season are on DVD. If I like the next one, I may have to get the DVD set.
-
Good evening!
-

I figured out why I couldn't find that album online, BK.
It's not called The Sherman Brothers Album; it got titled Believe: The Songs of the Sherman Brothers.

Missing orchestrations, wrong song order, bad mix, and all.

Had an excellent dinner of chicken-fried oyster tacos. Swapped one for a grilled shrimp taco. We both agreed the oysters were better.
-
Perhaps it's time to shuffle off to Buffalo.
-
Need sleep.
-
Good night, all.
-
You say oysters, I say ersters.

Let's call the whole thing off.

Anyone for clams casino?

That Botticelli dude sure was a caution!

Good night, friends.

PAGE SEVEN GEORGE'S WORDLE STATS DANCE!!

Right, the fools called it Believe. It's pretty rank. I talk about it quite a bit in the new book.

Merrill, Jan Peerce, Jane Powell, Phil Harris
Just snagged a copy of this on CD from Ebay for $9.00. Thanks for the heads up!
Never imagined it had a CD release!

Somewhere there is footage online of Richard Donner; he’s just finished directing Goonies with all those kids and is in Hawaii for a restful vacation. Then all the kids from the movie show up to surprise him.

In case you never saw it.

It looks like Twizzlers chocolate is available on Amazon.

Yum! I may have to try those, too.

Funny how you feel like a part of you is missing these days when you forget your phone.
Recalls "How a part of me she's grown" from NICK AND NORA
"She's the one real love I've known.
How a part of me she's grown.
Once I liked to drink alone.
Look who's alone now."
I really like that cast recording.
-
Yes, but did George finish a book yesterday - the one he was going to finish the day before. Did he finish it today? Will he finish it prior 2026?
I was able to read some more of it...I'm now up to 55%! I plan to read some more after the day changes tonight. :)
-
After reading this afternoon, the family gathered at my mom's house for lasagna and to visit either my cousin and his wife.
-
Several of us played Phase 10 (I didn't win) and after we all left, it took more that a half hour to get home because there's construction on I-5 and for a bit of it, they had the two left lanes blocked, and only one lane was available! :o
-
It's be great once it's all done, but until then, I'll try to avoid I-5 and go the back streets.
-
And now...
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
Tomorrow, everyone's going back to my mom's house for dinner, but since everyone wants something different, and my mom doesn't want to cook something different for everyone, we all will bring what we each want. ;)

As for me: Wordle: 4/6
Great! Better than me. ::)

Exactly! :D

I figured out why I couldn't find that album online, BK.
It's not called The Sherman Brothers Album; it got titled Believe: The Songs of the Sherman Brothers.
A question for BK...is this one of the titles that Concord has re-released?
-
And do all recordings of all the passes still exist?
-
If the answer to both is yes, if nothing's been done to the re-release, would it be possible as the original producer to approach Concord and ask them if you could finish the job?
-
Explain what happened and try to make it right...finally? :-\

I remember before it was first released and was listed on the site that shall not be mentioned, there was a mock-up of the original cover art that was pulled because permission wasn't granted.
-
I downloaded that image and printed it to be out with my copy of the official release. At some point my original downloaded file got lost or the computer died or something, but then I rescanned the printout and (should) still have that.
Let me see if I can find it.
-
Yes, all the passes are on the hard drive or drives. I've been having this very conversation with Concord - first two years ago, and then again three weeks ago. They're fine with me doing it - it will cost them nothing, they'll own the remix, I can finally make it right, and they're fine with me doing a 500 CD limited edition run. But it's very slow going - they have to find the hard drives and I'm not sure any of that stuff is organized. I'm staying on it, though.
-
Enter page eight!
-
Glad George has gone back to reading and hopefully he'll continue and finish soon.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.

That would be fantastic! :D
-
But would the official artwork still be used, or could the actual Disney images be used?
-
The title would change to what it was supposed to be - The Sherman Brothers Album. Not sure about using actual Disney artwork but we'd sure use the same Disney-like font that adorns the cover of the new book. And the order would be what I wanted it to be. Also, Guy Haines would record the track he was supposed to do and we'd include that and perhaps a couple of their songs from the Cinderella album as bonuses.
