Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Ionesco-like, and now it is time for you to post until the surreal cows come home.

And the word of the day is: GALVANIZE!

And look what showed up in my Kindle app!! Here's a screen shot of the beginning of chapter two from my tablet:
-
Congrats on it actually being released, Larry!! :D
-
I found it! The original (but unapproved) cover art for Believe that I had rescanned more than 20 years ago!:
-
Good morning, all
-
Congrats on it actually being released, Larry!! :D
DR George, this was quite a surprise! I'm happy to see how well the artwork turned out./

It's all quite delightful! I can't wait to read it...but I must! I need to finish BK's book first! :)
-
I slept rather well, which I was unsure of since my legs by 5:00 yesterday afternoon were shot to hell. After I got the cats' dinners, I called my doctor and cancelled today's appointment. I was in no shape - or mood - to push a walker around Fifth Avenuied and 98th Street in agonizing pain. After I reschedule the appointment this morning, I plan on taking it very easy.
-

Good morning, friends.

Larry, couldn't be more proud. Congratulations!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I ordered my copy of Annabelle and Thatch this morning.
-
Elmore, you should post a link to the Amazon page on the Forgotten Musicals page.
-
This is so true! :D
-
Elmore, you should post a link to the Amazon page on the Forgotten Musicals page.
Also on castrecl, or maybe someone else will post it on castrecl congratulating you on the book's release.
Is the publisher a castrecl list member, maybe?
-
It might even get some back and forth going on castrecl, since you're such a regular and beloved poster on castrecl, so I'd bet once it's posted about, people will chime in to wish you well.
-
(Since BK's book is also so on-topic for castrecl, that could be useful there, too - once the consolidation of the amazon pages shows up.)
-
though I guess BK is more of a regular poster on Facebook these days than castrecl.
-
Larry, do you know Darrel Karl or Kerr Lockhart? They seem to be people in castrecl who are known for spreading word in new releases.
-
It really feels like there's a potential animated musical in ANNABELLE AND THATCH, from skimming it so far. Or even a stage musical: Forget the new CATS revival! This is what cats are really thinking, LOL.
-
BK, regarding what you asked yesterday, I'm terrible - especially as I've gotten to silver citizen age territory - about sitting down and reading an entire book. I'd bet Skip will read the whole book, once we get it in paper form!
-
I ordered my copy of Annabelle and Thatch this morning.
Thanks, DR John G! I ordered one for myself. I haven't seen anything since the galleys, and I want to see how the blurbs, which were not yet written when the galleys were printed, and redone illustrations came out.

Dead tired this morning, as expected, but the first coffee is perking (see what I did there?) me up.
-
There's a new book in my Kindle app this morning!
That's two new HHW Kindle books in the span of a week. Amazing, no?
-
I was about to say I should watch that To Olivia movie in spite of the sauce, but on re-reading BK's notes, I think not. I do still need to watch The Patricia Neal Story which - the only time I saw it was by chance when I was en route to God knows where and I found it on the motel TV. At least that's my memory of it, which is pretty vague, so who knows, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
-
Amazon somehow is saying it can deliver the paperback "Richard and Me" to me by Wednesday.
Does that sound possible?
-
I was always enchanted by Patricia Neal, probably since seeing The Day the Earth Stood Still as a kid. That voice, that face.
Fast forward to 2016 or 2017. I was playing or attending something at The Gary-The Olivia Theater on the grounds of the Abbey at Regina Laudis. The show's director brought this woman over to introduce her to me. It was a friend, Tessa Dahl, who was visiting that week. I was stunned. I'm sure my jaw was resting comfortably on the floor as we stood there and talked. It was like looking into the face of, and hearing, Patricia Neal. Patricia Neal was standing there talking to me, as outgoing and friendly as could be. It was the most intense such resemblance to someone that I've ever experienced. I really didn't want it to end, but she was hustled out shortly thereafter.
The original connection to the place was that (Mother) Dolores Hart, with the help of her friend Patricia Neal, started that theater (also note its name), and Hart was probably there that evening. Oh wait, that was probably her own 50th anniversary celebration at the Abbey, and why Tessa would have made a point of being there. I miss that place. The couple who had directed the shows there moved to the west coast shortly before Covid, then the place closed to the public because of the pandemic and I don't think they've yet found anyone who can get it going again. Must check on that. I loved doing a few things there, and being around Hart and the others there in the summers (it's a lovely open-air theeder).
-
Monday morning greetings! The only thing on my calendar this week is my Friday cardiologist appointment. Isn’t life exciting?
Yes. Indeed. Hope all goes well.
-
A favorite Patricia Neal movie was Robert Altman's Cookie's Fortune. Sadly I don't own a copy which is selling for beaucoup bucks, even used.
-
Reading The River Is Waiting. It's long and it's tough going, but I do like Wally Lamb's writing.

I bought my first computer by mail.....it was an off brand....B I G clunky monitor and a B I G box of works.....and a crazy dot matrix printer....oh no wait...
MY FIRST computer was a Tandy that actually worked very well. I did not get on the inner web with it....
But with my second computer - I bought a disc for $99 and I had a separate phone line put in....and walla! I was on the web.
-
I am watching the show at the link DR GEORGE posted last night.
Most entertaining.
-
Perhaps I will reach my millstone today.....TWT.
-
First computer:
Commodore 128 (128k of RAM!) and 5" floppy disk drive. My old 9" Gold Star TV served as the monitor.
It was the fall of 1985. I'd just been exposed to the Apple IIc we had at work, on which I learned the basics of VisiCalc, their first spreadsheet program. I loved that, and decided I should have a computer at home. A coworker knew a lot about both the Apple and Commodore lines, and I eventually decided on the latter for my "system".
I soon added a printer and then a modem - 300 baud at first, but I quickly moved into the fast lane with a 1200. First online experiences were the BBS for the computer club I was in, a few other BBS's, followed by QuantumLink - the beginnings of America Online which was only for Commodore computers at that time. How special! And you could actually TALK TO PEOPLE on that. Imagine! Heady days, those.
-
Since I was a co-major in computer science in college, I was using the school's computers to do programming as far back as the late 1970s.
And quite a lot of my work in the 1980s already involved computer owned by my employers.
My own first computer in the home environment (as opposed to when I used Skip's computer) was a Mac around the mid-1990s. My first memory (besides email) of using the internet was Saturday Review Online.
-
Cool Neal story, Chas!

Monday morning greetings! The only thing on my calendar this week is my Friday cardiologist appointment. Isn’t life exciting?

Thank you, DR Freddie! I decided last night that being tired all the time is really boring.
-
My first computer, an iMac, was given to me by the late Tams-Witmark librarian Dale Kugel. John McGlinn had broughgt me onto the Packard Humanities Institute project, I needed a computer, and Dale offered me his since he was getting a new one. So, I was given an aging iMac with Finale already installed, and for a birthday gift about six months early, Dale gave me a year's service from a now-defunct company, Mac Mechanix, which was run by an actor, John Greenleaf. He remained my Mac man for years, until he moved to Los Angeles around 2015.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
My first computer, which Varese bought me, was a Compaq Presario. Oy and vey is all I'll say.
-
But that wasn't my first experience with the Internet - that was Web TV.
-
Benjamin Kritzer was written on my first laptop - a Dell, which I subsequently stomped to death.
-
Haven't heard from my gal at the publishers, but hopefully she's spoken to the person who handles Amazon.
-
Freddie, yes if they say Wednesday it's Wednesday.
-
Just ordered elmore's book and mine own in softcover - mine comes on Wednesday, the other on Thursday.

TOD, cont'd.
A year or so after I'd been dabbling in the Commodore world, our company began using PCs. I don't remember if there was a particular brand, but it wasn't IBM or Compaq. I believe they were 286's with two floppies and a (gasp) 20MB hard drive, and in those days it definitely behooved one to learn the basics of installing software, etc. From there they went to 386 and 486 machines.
When our first Costco opened in 1993, I decided I couldn't resist getting my first ever PC for home, and that was a Packard Bell 386, with a VCA color monitor, my first of those. Monitor was definitely lower-res than it should have been, but I was happy with it for a while.
From there, I had one or two other PCs "custom"-built by those stores that popped up in shopping centers and strip malls. They were good value for the money in comparison with the name brands, for sure, but I eventually moved into a Gateway, which by then might have been running Windows 95 and then 98. The housemates went for Dell, which seemed good. That lasted quite a while, and when it began nearing its end of life, I went to laptops, the first of which was a huge, very heavy HP. Then there was a Toshiba, and the old one I still have is an HP that's a dozen or more years old and is still cautiously running Windows 7 (I run Malwarebytes on it to be safe, but I also keep it offline except for brief moments).
-
Not to brag, but Barbara Eden is now my friend. At least on Facebook.
:)
-
I never had a Mac until I decided in 2018 that I needed to be a MainStage user, and I got an Apple-refurbished 2015 MacBook Pro which is the laptop I'm typing on as we speak. It was a good period for those, and the ones of that vintage (and even earlier) are still valued and used by a lot of musicians.
-
DR Chas, I enjoyed reading about your perfect concert.

Reading the blurb it looks like a tough one.
-
I shudder when I look at that cover - it's just horrible and so is the album. It is an embarrassment to me, something I worked very hard on (not that you'd know it, since the jerk who mixed it took producer credit, if I recall. Leaving half the orchestra tracks off because he "couldn't find them" - so you have half an orchestration. Using full takes of vocals instead of comping the best of each take (which is time consuming and hard work - something the jerk wasn't known for) - I so hope Concord comes through for me and I can finally make this the album it always should have been.

LOL, I suffer from chronic fatigue and when it was seriously bad, yup boring is a good word for it. Thankfully I could always read. I also have never stopped walking. At one point I asked Keith to jumpstart me. He would walk me around the block and go home and I would continue for a much longer walk.

TOD Part 1: I don't know what the time-sharing system was we used in high school, but in college there were lots of different ones including Multics, a PDP-11 (B.S. thesis), and a DECsystem 20 (M.S. thesis). In an electronic music lab we had a one-person-at-a-time minicomputer, a PDP-9. Working at DEC was on a variety of VAX/VMS systems. I didn't get my first home PC until the early 90s. I didn't get my first Mac until 10 years later, when my company went to NAMM and found that literally everyone interested in our music software was using Macs.
-
TOD Part 2: My grad school was on the Internet but that was email, no web yet. My first web browsing happened in the mid-90s with my first no-name 486 PC. But at DEC in the late 80s / early 90s - pre-web - we had a predecessor of forums called VAX Notes on a wide range of topics, on the company's internal network.

I am at home now, after driving from Lumberton NC, where I awoke this morning
