Whew!
Thursday was quite the long day! I left my house at about 8:45 a.m., picked up one of the actors and his kid, and didn't get home until after 1:00 a.m.!
Congratulations, BK, on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!
A Very Happy Birthday to DR Vixmom!! :D

Vixdad took me to IHOP for a celebratory breakfast

Tonight we plan to take my Mom.and go to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner
Wonderful review, DR Freddie!
Barstools assembled and I'm sitting on the new one and it's much more comfy. I have to get used to it, as it's quite a different sitting experience and the back is much lower. But it feels MUCH sturdier than the other, whose screws kept coming loose three times a week, making that chair VERY wobbly and weird.
Assembler has arrived.

We should be boarding our flight home soon
It seems DR Freddie is launched.
Let's hear it for the ladies who launch.
No one ever offers me vanilla ice cream on my pancakes. :P

Vibes for smooth traveling!
~~~SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for DR Jane and DH Keith!!!
Nice review, DR Freddie!
Great review, Freddie.
Your new photo that you posted on Facebook is quite excellent, John G. Is that for the book release?
Very enjoyable photos from yesterday's show, George! Thanks for posting them.
TOD: Unforgiven, then Gran Torino. The latter in part because I can do Detroit location spotting like bk and others do for LA.
Nancy LaMott has some new albums out. Well, mostly stuff that was released before, but with a few new added tracks.
I assume they are new CD releases, DR Freddie. I found them streaming on iTunes.
And ketchup on messages.
The sixth book did not arrive today....perhaps sometime.
HA! DR FREDDIE that is the rocking chair I bought a dozen years ago at the Marsh Supermarket (a chain that no longer exists)....I was visiting a friend in Indy and he had one on his front porch.
I asked him where he got - MARSH. The next day I went to the MaRSH store in Mooresville. They had a big stack of the unassembled chairs and one floor model.
The manager was standing there and asked if I was interested in a chair. I said yes but I could never put it together. He thought for a moment and said "You can have this one, I'll just put together another one for the floor model."
Walla.....a white rocking chair.
Dinner tonight is Chinese takeout.
Congrats to Keith on Wordle in 2!
As for me, Wordle: 5/6
Finally got the second thing that Heritage Auctions had not listed and never returned. Perhaps I'll tell that little story in the notes. They had two items - the very rare first edition of Badge of Evil (the source for Touch of Evil), which I got back a few weeks ago, and then a beautifully framed one-sheet size poster of Morocco, with Gary Cooper and Marlene Dietrich. Not the actual one-sheet, which has sold for upwards of 100K, but a gorgeous reproduction of it, an original painting by the man who was the greatest poster restoration guy ever - Igor Edelman. I commissioned him to do it back in the 90s, and it really is stunning and I'm glad to have it back. I'll photo it and put it in the notes.
That was great fun! The article says it's "Morgana King's 'A Quiet Thing,' but that sure sounds like la Streisand to me.
Congratulations, BK, on having passed your 158,000 HHW posting Millstone!
Today I must continue my ASCAP registration of the ballet's orchestra suites, which will be tedious. I also have to deal with an Annabelle & Thatch audio book glitch.
I have received FIVE books from DR FREDDIE and one still on the way.
George, did the book I sent you reach you yet?
Yesterday DR Jrand74 inspired me to look through my Disney movie shelves (yes, shelves - plural) which I've been remiss in doing for the last few years except for pulling out The Parent Trap because of BK's book. I loved that so much, and of course now must see Summer Magic. But there's so much more to revisit. It's a part of the overall "collection" that I've given short shrift to, mainly because there's hardly anything I need to add to it now. Which, believe me, is fine. It's a wealth of stuff.
The "Treasures" tins take up one whole shelf (I think it's 3 feet long?), the animated films on Blu-ray and DVD take up another, and there's at least half of another shelf with the live action and spillover from the rest. And that's just the movies and features I personally cared about. There's plenty over the years I haven't bothered with even seeing, let alone acquiring. Oh yeah, I still have all the deluxe laserdisc Disney releases, those huge box sets and plenty of singles. It's amazing what I amassed in those getting days.
Hope it's OK to post this here. This was an Amazon review for my book from someone who's always been supportive of my videos all the years, who goes by the name PlayWiz on ATC. (BK, PlayWiz is the fellow who had put up the information you'd asked to have him put up quoting you about Drat! The Cat!, which had been a good while before your production was announced.)
"PlayWizMe
Very funny book of song parodies full of biting wit, perfect for these trying times!
Fred Landau’s song parodies are back and even better, with now more pointed-arrow lyrics befitting an environment that could use much more wit and wisdom and hilarious humor to rattle and/or tickle some brains. Plus they serve to relieve some pent-up tension by addressing humorously how things now are, how things have changed, and hopefully how they might get better again. Landau is here doing the nimble crafty wordsmith work to protest and point out the craziness, inequities and looniness in today’s society that Lorenz Hart, Ira Gershwin and E. Y. Harburg would be doing if they were alive today. And he’s up to their standards and really funny doing it, covering a whole bunch of songs over a wide variety of genres and time periods. I highly recommend this book!"
I'm thinking my new book is at least partially launched, because the New York Times reader comment moderators decided to put up my comment linking the new book on Amazon. I wasn't sure whether they'd include it as a reader comment, and there was a bit of a delay between my submitting the comment and their putting it up - but it turned out their comment moderators decided it was OK.
Here's the comment: (as of now, second comment down under this https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/13/nyregion/hybrid-ferry-governors-island.html#commentsContainer )
From the Metropolitan Diary story: " I gave him a gift, a Mad magazine that he tucked under his other arm."
Berlin v. E.C. Publications, Inc. was the 1963 case where Irving Berlin sued the publisher of Mad magazine over song parody lyrics in their publications. Mad Magazine won. The "Sing Along With Mad" concept became an inspiration for parodists like me.
As it happens (I had no idea Mad magazine would be mentioned in the Diary), I just last week published my new book on "21st Century Oldies, The First Quarter Century: What a One-Percent World!" - my 6th book in my 21st Century Oldies series.
The Amazon page is here to see a sample https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FLPRB2Z7?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
BUT anyone reading this comment can get a free PDF from me of the parodies in the book by sending your email address to me - my AOL address is FJL1960. No strings attached - I promise, I won't put you on any mailing lists, I won't try to make Kickstarter requests - just hope you'll find a few lyrics that make you sing along, maybe out loud or maybe even just in your head.
My sealed copy of Believe... The Songs of the Sherman Brothers (on the label that shall not be named) finally arrived.
I bought it when it was released, but I don't know where that copy is, and it's not on the streaming services.
In any case, I notice that nowhere is BK credited for the Shermanized Word Medley. Or anywhere on the album, of course.
I take that back. There is a "Conceived By..." credit in the booklet.
To the Guests, may we interest you in a book or two or three or four?
