Well, you've read the notes, the notes were half notes and you gave them full value, and now it is time for you to post until the half-note cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JOVIAL!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm moving very slowly today as I try to figure out the logistics of my morning. I have more laundry than I want to deal with this morning, and if I decide to do only half, then when do I do the second half?
-
I don't feel too poorly this morning, which is a bit surprising since I was sick yesterday.
-
My Social Security landed this morning, so I must pay a few bills.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Book signing tonight. I hope it’s fun.
-
Friends donated eight Hill Country wines to pour while signing.
-
So, we should have some good spirits.
-
This was posted on Facebook this morning. Linda Ronstadt and the Muppets sing Romberg.

-
Congratulations, DR John G.!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Beautiful fall-like weather here.
What am I saying here? "Fall-like"? I'm afraid it IS fall. Early fall, yes, but fall nonetheless.
-
I just got our Wreck the Halls rehearsal schedule. Next week is the only heavy one, with rehearsals Monday through Thursday. After that, it's two weeks of Monday through Wednesday, and then just a few individual run-throughs prior to tech week. This is light, and it's possible because literally everyone involved has directed/sung/played/produced/stage-managed the show multiple times. It's performed every two years and the book gets a few updates each time, but you just can't beat this kind of familiarity and flow.
-
Book signing tonight. I hope it’s fun.
Vibes that it's a terrific event!
-
It is still, in fact summer, until Sept 22 at 11:30 am or so.
-
Notes pandered. Scorched.
-
Yeah, it would be cool to see you, BK. These Catholic cemetery people have me on a military schedule though. I gotta get up for a way-too-early breakfast now and man my booth.
-
Man My Booth sounds like a party game.
-
DR JOHN G I hope there will be photos.
Is the event being covered by The Press?
-
Glad to hear DR ELMORE is feeling better.
-
I just ordered Annabelle and Thatch.
-
Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
Just got in again after multiple tries. Didn't know if I'd be able to post even this much.
-
Book signing tonight. I hope it’s fun.
I hope so, too!
-
The laundry room was hopping. I visited with my new 1st floor neighbor Carmela, and then my neighbor in 3B, whom I never met until 8 months after he moved in, showed up with his recyclables. Nice day of visiting.
-
I suppose I'm up - six hours of sleep. Could try for another ninety minutes but...
-
Let's see if we can get to page 2 before noon (Eastern time)
-
PAGE TWO
-
From Bruce:
Sure glad those weather people were accurate about that cold front that was absolutely positively definitely bringing much cooler weather - that never arrived. It is currently at seven-fifteen, ninety-two degrees outside. It was about ninety-eight earlier. Yeah, that's sure cool weather. NOW they're saying well, it's coming but it might not hit until - wait for it - November. These people should be put out to pasture.
NOVEMBER! :o ;D
-
From DR Laura:
Jane, I got the Pfizer covid shot and the senior quad flu shot.
Hmmm, I wonder if getting them together is why you had a bit more of a reaction. I am glad you know Pfizer still has one out there. We only get that now.
-
That is a shame about the Blue Ribbon award not happening. I'm glad the school is celebrating anyway.
-
Friends donated eight Hill Country wines to pour while signing.
Nice :)
-
DR John, I hope your signing event is fun and that you sell lots of books.
-
I need a blue ribbon to tie around the old oak tree.
-
I tie yellow ribbons around the old elm tree, just to be different.
-
Zooming in thirty minutes.
-
Listening to a fun one — A Is for Arsenic: The Poisons of Agatha Christie.
-
Then food.
-
I'll be in the mood.
-
It won't intrude.
-
Or be crude.
-
Perhaps I'll listen to Edwin Drood.
-
Why are prunes stewed?
-
Don't give me attitude.
-
I'm no prude.
-
But I won't do nude.
-
The whole thing is skewed.
-
Good morning.
-
After a few very nice mornings in the mid 70s, it was back up to 84 at 6 a.m. But they say we may have rain on Friday.
-
Are you feeling better this morning, John G.?
-
That's great DR JOHN G.
But what will everyone else drink?
-
ASK BK DAY....I know this is probably discussed in a book however I will ask here:
Did you take a typing class in high school?
-
RIP Robert Redford. Here's a tribute from my film professor, Mick LaSalle. Our next class with him starts next week.

We're back from my 50th high school reunion, which was great fun.
-
One of my classmates since elementary school is a professional caterer. She made all the desserts in her Residence Inn hotel room, and they were yummy!
-
We also took an excellent tour of downtown Detroit. We were happy to see Detroit doing so much better than at our last reunion ten years ago.
-
Now here is how you make a Detroit style pizza. Note that dark brown crust from the carmelized cheese, which works thanks to the shape of the pan. This is from Loui's, the absolute pinnacle of this style since 1977.
-
Here's a slice shot, where you can see that crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside crust.
-
It's so good when you revisit a childhood haunt after many years and it is exactly as great as you remember, rather than being just a nostalgic memory.

Nice article from your film professor.

I like school reunions. I'm glad you had a great time.
-

Wow.
-
I love this 1969 photo of Robert Redford and his cat!
-
Are you feeling better this morning, John G.?
Yes. But the arm is still sore.
-
We also took an excellent tour of downtown Detroit. We were happy to see Detroit doing so much better than at our last reunion ten years ago.
I'm glad to know that it has continued to improve. We were last there seven years ago and it seemed to be thriving.
-

Our sons love Detroit style pizza. I don't know if I ever had it from Loui's. That looks good.
-
It's so good when you revisit a childhood haunt after many years and it is exactly as great as you remember, rather than being just a nostalgic memory.
That doesn't seem to happen too often these days.
-
Here's a slice shot, where you can see that crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside crust.
Yummy photos, MichaelG!
-
Glad you had a good reunion, MichaelG!
-
DR MICHAELG terrific pizza photos.
-
We also made it to the Motown Museum. I'd never been there before. I had no idea that while I was getting allergy shots at Henry Ford Hospital as a kid, all these great records were being made just a half mile down the road.
-
I tried to attach a photo, but the uploader seems to have conked out while I was at lunch.
-
OMG. Never show pictures of great pizza to a starving man.
(I don't know why I'm starving. I just am.)
-
(Actually, the great pizza pictures themselves can reduce a stuffed man to a starving man. Just like that <snaps fingers>.)
-
Book signing tonight. I hope it’s fun.
Friends donated eight Hill Country wines to pour while signing.
Very cool, John! Hope you have a great time!

So that was my official Wordle grid. When I was done, I thought it would've been fun, when I made the fifth guess, if it would've had four letters correct, and then each guess would've added just one more letter for a stepping pattern.

So I recreated it on another browser just for fun:

Go there on your next visit then! They're busy expanding it with a whole new building, but they'll still keep a separate tour of the houses and Studio A, which can only fit 20 people at a time.

Maybe I'm becoming a bit like Emily Litella today. On CNN, they keep talking about the "State dinner" Trump is having in England, and I'm hearing "steak dinner."

Sometimes if you post the photo to your Facebook page and then copy the photo link between the words
they will show up here.

Oh, I don't mind. It means I won't have to miss any work.

Gratuitous Post #101!!
-
I would love to read the Robert Redford tribute, but I'm not willing to give the Chronicle my email address.
-
Well, this looks like fun:
The Hilarious New Documentary About Extreme Birdwatching That’s Winning Over Even Non-Birders (https://slate.com/culture/2025/09/listers-documentary-youtube-birding-birdwatching-movie-ebird.html)
Listers, which is streaming for free on YouTube, is like Fear and Loathing for birding.

I didn't have to give my email address. The article just opened up in my browser without any need to log in.

And now, I'm off...but not to rehearsal. I'm working barback at for the performance of comedian Brad Williams. Look him up! He's a little person, and he's very funny!
Be back later!
-
Here on HHW....Robert Redford's pussy.
-
Never took a typing class in school. Self-taught and pretty good at it these days.
-
Finished the tuna pasta salad and pill two has been taken. I suppose I'll watch something.
-
Sorry to read about Jimmy Kimmel being cancelled. When will it end?
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
It was cancelled for the same reason Colbert was - Nexstar is trying to do a merger and the only way it would get approved was this. It's appalling that no one can do anything to stop this assault on the constitution.
