Topic of the Day: just egg salad. I like it on its own, or on a sandwich, or in its sometime-original form: the deviled egg. :)
-
Well...I'm almost at another millstone!
-
And here it is! :D
-
TOD: Tuna salad, in sandwiches, is my favorite. Chicken salad is OK. I can't recall having turkey salad but I expect it would be fine. Egg salad's the one I'm not too fond of, it's so rich.
-
Good night all.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Must get to work.
-
I think the heat is returning after a few days of fall.
-
Good morning, all!
-
My Amazon Prime fire stick is dead. I am not amused.
-
I love the unmentioned shrimp salad. Shrimp, tuna, chicken, egg salads on toast, stuffed inside a tomato, or on a bed of lettuce; all sound wonderful.
If I remember correctly, I have had turkey salad only once, over 65 years ago on my Aunt Lois' farm near Columbus, Ohio. I rememberm too, that I liked it.
-
Former Vice President Dick Cheney has died. I never liked him, but I have great admiration for his daughter.
-
Good morning.
-
TOD: Everything Elmore listed. Except no fruit in it, please.
-
Tonight I am hosting a group at the church. They included in their email that the church is accepting donations to go toward grocery store gift cards for folks who have lost EBT benefits.
Hopefully they are generous, as they eat the goodies I'm making today.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Tonight is the night (not to be confused with Tonight's the Night) that I, too, am back at rehearsal.
This week it's tonight (not to be confused with "Tonight") for working one duet (this year's new song), and tomorrow night for the full cast run-through.
-
Eight years ago today I attended a cat-kitten adoption event at the 92nd Street & Broadway Petco. I was looking for a little brother for Annabelle. I had two requirements: he had to be younger than she and he had to have some white in his coat. I checked out all the cats in the back of the store and then walked to the front of the store where they were setting up more cages of cats and there he was: Thatch!
He was three months old, orange and white, a little creamsicle of a kitten, and I was smitten. Cupid's arrow never pierced a heart with more alacrity. Five days later I brought him home. Happy Anniversary, Thatch!
-
Happy Gotcha Day to Elmore and Thatch!
-
Last night I once again resumed my journey through the Twilight Time Blu-rays, with The Rains of Ranchipur (1955).
I could have sworn that I'd watched this one as soon as it was released in 2012. Well, not so. I knew I would have forgotten lots of it, but I kept waiting for familiar scenes to show up ... and they never did! By the time I was a third of the way through it I accepted that I'd completely conflated it somehow with some other movie, and here I was seeing it for my first time.
I enjoyed it, but I made myself get all the way through it before looking up anything about it. And oh my, what a reputation it has! Richard Burton in a turban and Indian skin coloring (which somehow fades later in the story)? That, and more. There's something for everyone of today and even yesterday to hate. I was nevertheless into it, but now I want to see the 1939 movie it's based on, and get THAT flavor of the story and the goings-on.
What I especially appreciated was that 1950s Fox "house style" of cinematography. I think it's a lusciously filmed picture, much of it drop-dead beautiful.
-
I know Thatch was a bit of a challenge at first. Like Joshie was for me. But They both turned out to be wonderful.
-
Happy Anniversary to Thatch and DR Elmore!
-
And here it is! :D
Congratulations, George, on your brand new millstone!

~~~FIRST REHEARSAL VIBES~~~ tonight for BK & Company!!!
-
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to DR elmore3003 and DC Thatch!!!
-
Congrats to DR GEORGE on his new millstone.
-
I meant to mention yesterday that in the movie ABOUT LAST NIGHT Rob Lowe and his girlfriend - maybe Demi Moore - were breaking up. They were dividing up the LPs and the way he pronounced Shostakovich was hilarious.
-
The new play sounds exciting.
First rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Of course they should immediately follow it with a production of a play about Frances Farmer - if such a thing exists somewhere.
-
To day I am having lunch with my cousins Carol and Daryl....who are indeed brother and sister.
-
Election Day!
-
TOD:
I like chicken salad (I usually buy the Amish recipe that doesn't include eggs), tuna salad, and turkey salad.
I like to eat chicken salad on a tortilla with diced fresh tomatoes and shredded cheese.
-
I’m Caryl, this is my brother Daryl, this is my other brother Caryl.
-
I know Thatch was a bit of a challenge at first. Like Joshie was for me. But They both turned out to be wonderful.
You absolutely called it, DR Laura!
-
I meant to mention yesterday that in the movie ABOUT LAST NIGHT Rob Lowe and his girlfriend - maybe Demi Moore - were breaking up. They were dividing up the LPs and the way he pronounced Shostakovich was hilarious.
I wonder whether in more modern times, they'd have kept the name of the David Mamet play it's based on, "Sexual Perversity in Chicago."
-
More rehearsal vibes for BK and company!
-
Perhaps DR FREDDIE.
-
I've never seen the original play, or even read it, I don't think. I would guess the movie added or changed a lot?
-
From Bruce:
The eight pill pills are really tiny - I can take four at a time.
I like small pills.
-
DR John, 4:45am wake up, no wonder you went home early last night.
-
DR George I hope you are feeling better today.
Fingers crossed they are generous.
-
I like egg salad, chicken salad, and tuna salad, all made with mayo.
-
I only eat chicken salad if I don't have anything else I can eat. It has actually been years since I last had it.
-
I prefer a good turkey sandwich to turkey salad. Again, I rarely have it, and then only when we are traveling.
Lovely Thatch pic.
Lunch was great.
Cousins were all spoken about and accounted for. I am sure there are several burning ears in the area.
Tuesday afternoon greetings! We are home now after a great visit with our son’s family in Illinois. Saturday was just a “hang out and watch football” day and I’d intended for us to be back in our hotel room for the Michigan kickoff at 6pm. But it would have been awkward to leave just as Mary Linda’s homemade pizzas came out of the oven, so we ate while watching and intended to leave at halftime. But by then Grandad (Richard) and the girls were deeply involved in coloring, so we stayed for the whole game.
-
Sunday was the marquee event of the weekend - grandson George’s baptism. After the church service we all gathered at Rob and Mary Linda’s for a lovely champagne brunch. My contribution to that meal was homemade cinnamon pecan coffee cake that Charlotte and Hannah liked - a lot.
All of the guests, including us, left so that the household could regain some normalcy for the new week. We didn’t see them again before our smooth drive home yesterday.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six and a half hours of sleep - up twice with an upset tummy.
-
Got that tracks on the laptop but have no idea where I put the external speakers - maybe in the garage.
-
DR GINNY that sounds like so much fun.
Cinnamon pecan cake AND champagne. That's a celebration!
-
DR George I hope you are feeling better today.
Thanks, Jane. I've noticed over the last couple of days that I can feel a bit worse in the morning, but feel better as the day goes on. Weird, huh? :-\
Sounds reasonable to me.
Homemade pizza is always good.
I'm glad your coffee cake was a big hit with the girls. Did you bake it at home or while at their house?
Prednisone can cause stomach and reflux issues. If your pepcid isn't enough you might want to consider going on something like pantoprazole you can take every day to prevent, or reduce, issues.
I'm curious who has a favorite for the new mayor of NYC.
-
Oh joy, our building fire alarms are getting there yearly check.
-
I have taken my hearing aids out while Keith has put ear plugs in his ears.
-
With the hearing aids out I can press my ears closed every time the alarm goes off, and it keeps going off.
-
They checked that all of the alarms are working inside our unit and said they are almost done with the building.
-
Of course we already knew that all of our alarms are working correctly ;D
-
There are 18 units in our building so it does take awhile.
-
Just when we thought they were done another alarm went off ;D
-
Not very hungry, so I just had an English muffin with the pills.
-
I'm curious who has a favorite for the new mayor of NYC.
Our votes are in.
But the phone calls from the "telemarketers" trying to sway our votes are still coming in.
DR Jane, I baked the coffee cakes (one with nuts, one without) at home and froze them. What I made when we got there was what Rob used to call “Gram Cheese,” because his Gram (my mother) made it when he was little. It’s a combination of cream cheese and any spreadable sharp cheddar, formed into a ball and rolled in chopped pecans (or not). The girls liked it, too.
I'm sure it was much easier baking them at home. The cheese balls, without pecans, sound yummy.
I'm suddenly in the mood for pumpkin bread.
-
I used to make olive cheese balls. A cheese and flour mix wrapped around an olive and then baked. I could roll them ahead of time and freeze them, then bake them later.
Good news from both NJ and VA in their governor's races.
-
Waiting to see on the PA Supreme Court - a biggie.
-
Mamdani wins NYC.
-
Democrats retain their majority on PA's Supreme Court.
-
This is all very good news.
-
Finally off the shift. I worked 14.75 hours today.
-
Early in the morning, two co-workers said we would have 1,000 voters. I said 1,200. We had 1,280. None of us had any sympathy for the people standing in line. We had two weeks of no waiting. And we told the people that.
-
DR John did you survive the day?
Barely. Made it to a food truck. Am awaiting some ceviche.
-
Bless you for doing that work, DR John G.
-
Five!
-
You've heard of STEM? (science, technology, engineering, math)
Well, now there's PHLEGM. (poetry, history, language, English lit, ghost stories, music.) :)
Am home and exhausted. Will likely go to sleep shortly.
Listening to a fun one: The Queens of Crime. Dorothy L. Sayers, Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, Margery Allingham and the Baroness Orczy team up to solve a murder. The women are excellently drawn. It’s just relaxing and invigorating at the same time.
JD Vance’s half-brother was trounced by the incumbent mayor of Cincinnati 🎉🎉🎉
I just discovered this video of Michael Jeter and David Carroll. A great Wright and Forrest song. Filmed better here than on the Tonys because the camera doesn’t cut away from Jeter at the wrong times.
One of my most favorite moments in all of musicals.
Hop and ray!
-
A voter today said I was Bob Seger’s doppelgänger. I thought that was nice.
-
I reported about the great time I had at the theater’s big fundraiser with Nile Rodgers and Chic. Well, apparently there was a lot of tsuris behind the scenes. Entitled ushers, who are all volunteers, were upset they couldn’t have the dinner that patrons paid hundreds of dollars for. Pizza was provided, and those folks not only criticized it, but they treated it shabbily in front of the people who went out of their way to provide it. We all got a lengthy email about the behavior of those people and how poorly it played out on our most important night of the year. I felt very embarrassed.
-
I’m fading.
-
Good night, all.
-
Back from our rehearsal - really fun and got the opening number done, at least in rough form. Still have to put four more people in it but the shape of it works. I let everyone go early because I didn't have anything planned beyond that.
-
We'll do another number tomorrow night.
-
Stopped and got Jack in the Box - all I've had all day was an English muffin.
-
Of course, I got all the tracks on the computer, found the speakers, put them in the trunk of the motor car and then completely forgot to put the computer in the car so that wasn't good - we played the track on someone else's laptop but it wasn't loud enough.
-
Nice! Rehearsal begins!
-
California Proposition 50 won, so more good news.
-
Finally off the shift. I worked 14.75 hours today.
Wow! Hope you get overtime pay!
-
And you get David Carroll's performance. I love Brent Barrett's performance on the Tony Awards, but it's nice to have any footage of Carroll's original Baron.
Oh, and I'm still sick. :P
Tomorrow, I need to go to my mom's to help her write an ad for one of the rental properties that she has.
-
The tenants moved out and she, of course, wants to rent it quickly.
