Well, you've read the notes, the notes had Hart, and now it is time for you to post until the the Hartless cows come home.

And the word of the day is: EAGER!

I still haven't opened it, yet.

Good morning, all!
-
The alarm rang at 5:45 and I went back to bed. Surprisingly, Stelladdled with me for 30 minutes before I decided to get up.
-
DR George, thanks for the post of "Sing for Your Supper." I saw it when PBS first broadcast that Sylvia Fine (Mrs Danny Kaye) series. I loved Kaye Ballard, eho was a dear friend from 1988 to her death. The last time I saw her was when BK recorded Jason Graae's album of Charles Strouse songs.
I've worked as well with both Donna McKechnie, whom I helped organize her music for a Theatre Guild cruise show, and Roberta Peters, whom I've adored since she sang "Glitter and Be Gay" on the Perry Como show around 1964. She also sang with Como the Don Giovanni duet "La ci darem la mano." I got to work with her when she was guesr artist for one of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus holiday concerts. Ahe was one of the best.
-
And that leads in to Blue Moon, which I very much want to see. I wn't get to it until it turns up on Amazon, Netflix, or DVD, but it's something I'm looking forward to. After Oklahoma!, Rodgers and Hammerstein parted ways; Oscar to adapt Georges Bizet to Carmen Jones, and Rodgers & Hart to revise with Herb Fields A Connecticut Yankee. It was at the opening night of this show that Rodgers had a very drunk Hart forcibly thrown out of the theatre. Hart died five days later on Nov. 22, 1943.
Today is the 82nd anniversary of his death. I think this is the saddest lyric he ever wrote:

TOD: I assume we're not counting movies made for TV or streaming.
Of what I've seen of movies made for theaters: "The History of Sound" really moved me a great deal. There were a few slow patches and I felt it didn't need to be over 2 hours, but I found it really powerful.
-
Larry, I got an email from Barnes and Noble that my "Annabelle and Thatch" review is up.

John G, vibes that you're feeling better today.

Yes! I forgot to thank you and DR Singdaw earlier when I saw them this morning. Thanks so much!
We are standing at 21 5-star reviews on Amazon/ I hope the book is still selling.

You're welcome.
Do you or your collaborator get any information on how your CD on Joy Machine is doing?

Saturday.
Glad that DR MICHAELG made it home safely.
-
I have only seen two movies this year and liked them both.
The History of Sound mentioned by DR FREDDIE and Plainclothes.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I survived last night and am taking it very easy with this cold today.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I was antsy during Blue Moon, but I liked the direction and the performances. I found the movie stayed with me for days after seeing it.
To me, the scene where Hart finally introduces his ideal love to Rodgers is the one that got me. He knows he’s leading his beloved to the slaughter, given Rodgers’ womanizing ways. It was almost as sad as the lyric Larry linked to.
-
Rodgers was Andrew Scott. Interesting to see a straight actor play the gay Hart and Scott the straight Rodgers. No argument from me that good actors can play all kinds of roles.
-
John G, vibes that you're feeling better today.
The back is still sore. I’m wondering if it’s the mattress.
-
Great photo, George.

I wish I had the chocolate, too.

Andrew Scott was huge box office when he performed his one-man VANYA in New York.
This was the Times review from earlier this year.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/18/theater/andrew-scott-vanya-review.html
"Review: Eight Andrew Scotts in a Heartbreaking Solo ‘Vanya’
Playing all the characters in an update of Chekhov, the Irish actor turns what could be merely a stunt into a tour de force."

I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep.
-
Got everything organized on the laptop. I'll just take a quick shower in about fifteen minutes.
-
Many on Facebook like Blue Moon. I guess I'll be in the minority. I really wanted to like it.
-
You are very welcome DR Kevin. I hope you had a nice birthday.

Kevin, and thanks from Keith. Good for you getting Wordle in four.

Do you have a Saatva store near you? I looked, the closest one to you is in Austin. We love our mattress, and the store is unlike any other mattress store and worth a visit even if you don't buy anything. They call them viewing rooms.

I found my High Spirits PC and listened to the Broadway cast album and bits of the London cast, which has inferior sound to the OBC. Edward Woodward is so wonderful, I can't believe he never did another musical; I love his voice. My friend Denis Quilley on the London recording is equally good, but none of the London ladies match their Broadway counterparts. The London orchestrations are the original, but they've been adjusted for Jan Waters voice, which is higher and Louise Troy's. As to the score, I must disagree with JohnG. I really like it, and I think the lyrics are quite wonderful.

They're saying on the net that Andrea Martin will be Madame Arcati at Encores.
-
I think the only movie I've seen that was released this year was Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, which I enjoyed a lot as an Abbey fan. I wanted to see more but they leave the theaters so quickly these days.
-
Of course I've seen a lot of movies in our film classes. The one I missed this week was Top Hat, so I'll have to stream that before our final class the week after Thanksgiving.

A fun blast from the past:

Feel better vibes for DR CHAS SMITH - the show must go on.

DR FREDDIE that clip was priceless!

I expected to be disappointed and also enjoyed it very much.

The Thanksgiving supermarket shopping is already crazy. In fact, I heard it was already thus two days ago.
-
Up again: $2.89
-
Definitely feeling better than I did yesterday and last night. That day was pretty damned miserable.
-
I saw K-Pop Demon Hunters on the big screen. Maybe the best thing I saw.

Yep. I knew that. I think it's perfect casting. I swore I would say nothing.

I normally buy this every year to keep out on my kitchen counter as it is cute, and tasty. Since I like looking at it I can go a good while before I break down and it it. They are in the stores now, but alas, I really need to avoid milk chocolate as and stay with dark chocolate until I get my prednisone down and I know that it did not kick me into diabetes numbers.

Google's AI seems to be saying that Robert Yacko produced that staging of CHESS as well as playing Anatoly.
"Jodi Benson and Robert Yacko starred together in the West Coast premiere of the musical "Chess" in 1990, with Benson playing Florence and Yacko playing Anatoly. This collaboration was a notable production of the musical, and Benson often credits Yacko for finding the show.
Jodi Benson: Known for voicing Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid, Benson was the lead actress in the 1990 production of "Chess".
Robert Yacko: He was a co-star in the production, playing the role of Anatoly. His participation was instrumental in bringing the musical to the West Coast.
The production: "Chess" was staged in 1990 in Long Beach, California, as part of the Long Beach Civic Light Opera, with Benson and Yacko as the leading cast members. "

I guess it's too late to get to page 4 before 5 pm (Eastern).

But maybe we can get to page 4 before 5:15 pm (Eastern)?

PAGE FOUR!

The HHW info says 14 Guests are viewing today's posts. Might that be good for page views?
I don't think I've ever seen more than 7 or 8 Guests on the current day's posts before.
-
DR Freddie, yes about the A1C. I normally do it in May. I don't know if my rheumotolist will order it sooner. Next month my labs will include glucose testing.
-
Jane, you normally only do A1C once a year? I did mine in April, and my doctor is having me take it again before I see him in December. (Maybe because I'm on the metformin.)
-
For a while, he was having me take the A1C tests every three months.
-
Jane, you normally only do A1C once a year? I did mine in April, and my doctor is having me take it again before I see him in December. (Maybe because I'm on the metformin.)
I have only tested prediabetes so once a year is fine.
-
For a while, he was having me take the A1C tests every three months.
That is understandable.
-
From what I have read the A1C isn't necessarily the best way to test while taking prednisone. Unless I feel symptoms I won't push to have it sooner.
-
Having done High Spirits in 1965, it's a wonderful show and score - we had a great cast and I had the best time. It's a favorite of mine and the OBC is a terrific recording and what an overture.
-
Back from rehearsal, which was fun, then food at the Coral Cafe with Doug.
-
We both had patty melts, we both ordered well done. His was. Mine was practically rare in the middle - should have sent it back but by the time I got to the middle I just went with it - I'm feeling a big nauseous because of it.
-
Came home, took pill two and have a piece of pie for later and pill three.
-
Did an Instacart order.

This thing from yesterday turned out to be a real pain in the A. Now nothing can happen for the next two business days and that could even be three, which means I'm screwed until after Thanksgiving. I'll tell the story once it's all sorted out, but the stupidity of what it is will take your breath away, because it requires one to have the talent of mentalism or being able to divine information.
-
Irritating.
-
Not conflating.
-
I'm just stating.
-
But it's grating.
-
Lowest rating.
-
Would cause hating.
-
Won't be mating.
-
Or contemplating.
-
Aggravating.

And so - we're waiting.

Keith had nothing with his Wordle starter word, yet he still got it in three :)

I fear for our country because this is true. From a USA Today article on Lay’s rebranding:
The phrase "made with real potatoes" is also inscribed on the bag, as Lay's pointed out in its news release that 42% of people who eat Lay's potato chips don't realize they are made with real, farm-grown potatoes.
-
No potatoes in potato chips? What are they made of? Or do people just not care what they’re eating?
-
Back to the first part of Nutcracker. There was a very ugly fight between Lee Remick and Elizabeth Wilson.
-
Well, Laura. The latest spin is that the obese orange one said, “Quiet, Peggy,” not Piggy.

The mail finally arrived today. I'm very excited as this was waiting for me.

Nice.
-
Six!
-
Good night, all.
-
Here I come to save the day.
-
As Mighty Mouse once intoned.
-
I probably have not seen a Mighty Mouse episode in 35 years.
-
Crazy when you think of stuff like that.
-
When did I last view a complete Woody Woodpecker show? 30 years
-
Chilly Willy? 30 years
-
Staples of childhood one just loses touch with.
-
Flintstones 20 years maybe less.
-
I had a mortifying moment at a trade show last year. A woman at a booth was wearing an orange sweater with block splotches, identical to Fred Flintstone. At these shows, people wear loud clothes, try to capture attention. It wasn’t outside the realm of possibility… Their branding was orange. Before I could take a mental moment and think, “consider that maybe she’s not intentionally trying to look like Fred Flintstone,” I blurt out, “Fred Flintstone, awesome!”
To which she responds, “Who?”
-
I stammered and somehow talked my way out of it, ended up meeting her and her husband at shows since, and actually interviewed them for next issue, so all’s well that ends well. But a lesson: even if she’s driving a stone-age car with bare feet, never suggest to a lady that she looks like Fred Flintstone.
-
Well, Laura. The latest spin is that the obese orange one said, “Quiet, Peggy,” not Piggy.
Now, that is just propaganda!
-
I probably have not seen a Mighty Mouse episode in 35 years.
I don't think I've ever seen a whole episode...only short clips and excerpts.
-
Hope your health is improving, G!
-
Hope your health is improving, G!
Thanks, Rodzinski! It's been getting better very slowly, but there's still the lingering cough. At least, that hasn't gotten worse again.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
But why are we on page six?
-
Riddle me THAT.
-
We should have pushed past six ages ago.
-
Ages ago.
-
And yet - page six.
