I fear for our country because this is true. From a USA Today article on Lay’s rebranding:

The phrase "made with real potatoes" is also inscribed on the bag, as Lay's pointed out in its news release that 42% of people who eat Lay's potato chips don't realize they are made with real, farm-grown potatoes.
